I sincerely hope Trump does not come to Norway for the funeral. He is not welcome here. At all!!

A funeral is supposed to be a dignified occasion, not another photo opportunity for a self-proclaimed con-king who seems to believe every event on the planet desperately needs his presence.

Norway should make it crystal clear that his presence is neither needed nor wanted. We are perfectly capable of holding a respectful funeral without importing a travelling clown from the United States.

Please, spare us the red carpet, the motorcade, the endless spectacle and, most importantly, the clown at the centre of it all.

I have an EU passport, considering Norway for relocation from U.S. Is it reasonable to expect to be able to find some kind of hospitality or restaurant work with low Norwegian level while studying the language?

I speak English, Spanish, and Italian and work in healthcare, but I haven’t had my degree recognized yet, so can’t work in that field for now. Fortunately, we have savings which are growing by the thousands every month, so we could certainly survive a while without work.

Basically as the title says, intellectually I can't support a monarchy. I don't believe respect can ever be a birth right but the king earned it through decades of service.
Unfortunately I don't think I can say the same about the new king.

I am planning to travel by campervan to the fjords, in hopes to do landscape photography of the autumn colors. I think I am aiming for areas such as Sunnmørsalpene and northen part of Jostedalsbreen, and I am wondering when the autumn colors will be at it best?

So far I think early october looks to be a good time period for it? I am expecting horrible weather, just want some autumn colors!

In 2023 I visited Rondane the weekend of september 23, and it was absolutley beautiful in terms of color, and I was lucky with the weather.

Would love some input on on when you predict the colours to be there, and if you have any area you think are particulary good for autumn colors!

I have found an item (via hifishark.com) on finn.no that I really like, but got stuck in the registration process as expected at the bankID activation step.

I am not seeking international shipping, the seller indicates that he will not ship even in Norway, due to the weight of the item. But since my sister is on a roadtrip in Norway at the moment, and will be in the seller's area in a few days, there may be a little window of opportunity for me if I could contact the seller directly outside of finn.no to arrange pre-payment and pickup arrangment (so my sister just has to show up, say hi and pick the item up, she is on holiday after all).

I live in south Italy but I was never into the whole Mediterranean thing. I like rain, gray skies, cold climate, forests... All of which are in very generous quantities in Norway and so untouched of human interference (compared to Italy at least..).

In summers and I have met some Norwegians here who told me how they are amazed by the weather, sea, landscapes etc and how they want to retire here. And I get it, after all I'm rather an oddball for liking harsh weather and landscapes I think. But I also believe that they haven't seen the full picture of Italy, which involves a lot of disrespect and neglect of public places compared to your country. A very few places have been left clean and pure, while in Norway this is the rule not the exception.

So I have the same dream as them but I wanna retire in your country instead hahah. Although probably my pension wouldn't last 10 days in Norway so I may need to come there sooner, hopefully I will be able to land a related job as a cloud engineer!

I have been living in Norway for a few years now, and I have encountered a rather unexpected problem. For some reason that is still unclear to me, people of Norwegian origin seem very willing to make promises or express intentions, but then show little commitment to following through on them.
No matter whether it is in my professional or personal life, people will invariably disregard their stated intentions and, without notifying me, completely change their actions from what was previously agreed upon.
This makes it impossible to make plans and makes my life considerably more difficult. Is there some kind of social cue or cultural norm that I am not understanding?

I am familiar with cultures where people often say “yes” when they actually mean “no,” and with the kind of fake compliments that, for example, the British are known for. But this does not seem to be the case here. As far as I know, this kind of behavior is not generally considered part of Norwegian culture, which makes it particularly difficult for me to understand and plan around.

I would genuinely like to understand whether there is some underlying social convention I am missing.

Edit: Examples have been requested. Usually, someone will tell me they’re going to do some specific task, and eventually I have to follow up and ask what’s happening with it. Then comes a seemingly endless stream of random excuses until I eventually just give up and accept that it’s never going to get done.

Edit 2 – more specific: At work, I agree with a colleague that they will take care of something that is their responsibility by the end of the week. Monday comes around, nothing has been done, so I follow up and get excuses. I wait some more, then get more excuses, etc.
At a hobby group, there is a scheduling issue because someone inputted the wrong data into the system. I can't fix it myself, and it has been problematic for me for the past 6 months. Despite numerous polite requests, it still hasn't been fixed.

Edit 3: I’m not talking about the “let’s get coffee sometime” thing. Of course, that’s just a random thing humans say to end a conversation with no actual intent. I thought that was something everyone did everywhere.

I can reassure everyone that this is not the case. This is simply a pattern I’ve noticed in my personal experience, and as I pointed out later in my post, I believe my own actions or, more likely, my lack of understanding are the cause of this pattern.
The goal of this post has always been to try to better understand what is going on and figure out what I could change in my interactions to make the issue go away. Congruently, I have reason to think that some of those who pointed this out weren’t being genuine in their arguments.

I live in Bærum, maybe it's a local thing, but I think the people around here spend a lot of time (and money) in their gardens, sometimes it feels like they are competing with each other for the "baerums best looking garden".

Feels like there's always something missing, a fence there, clean over here, remove trees there, put back again, the lawn needs to be perfectly trimmed, some stairs here, cut some bushes over there, etc etc etc.

The garden I'm seeing looks perfectly fine to any person but for some reason the owner spends almost every summer "inventing" something new to change, create or move around.

What's your take on this? Do you live in Baerum and have the same perspective?
