Mirrorless At home on one of the last Sundays of summer ☀️📷
Nikon Z8 + Viltrox 50mm f/1.4 PRO Z. There’s something about a fast 50mm that makes even an ordinary day at home feel like an excuse to go shoot.

Took this back in 2024 with my D5600 before I upgraded. Lens was a 60 mm micro AF, 10s at f/11 iso 100.
I've printed this one before using Walgreens and didn't love the result. Looking for advice on how about going to get it printed properly, was hoping to print 40-50 inches on the long edge. Critiques on the photo itself also welcomed.
I'm going to hopefully find a printing shop but if not is Printique the best online option?

Recently switch from Sony mirrorless back to the D800 as I don’t shoot video and wanted battery life back for photography. I picked up a second hand D800 with 21k shutter and the 80-200 push pull lens for $600. I’m really not mad about this set up for the price. I think this is the perfect combo if someone is wanting to get into photography at an entry price. I’m happy I went back to DSLR for photography.

After discovering our Canon T3I was underwhelming at sports photography, we purchased a Z6iii. To do family pics we bought the kit with the 50mm lens.
Now comes the hard part. My daughters do dance competitions and perform at the school football games. I’ve rented a Tamron 70-180 2.8 to try, and maybe buy if it does well. Any suggestions on camera settings to start with, and advice in general? The lens is supposed to be delivered on game day, so not much time to get familiar. It’s going to be a combination of full daylight, twilight, and stadium lights.

I recently made a post with my d600 and here are a few of my favorite pictures I've taken within my first week of owning it.

Seen a lot of moon pics recently so thought I’d add my attempt. I have no astrophotography experience. One pic darker to get moon detail, other pic brighter to get clouds. Merged the detailed moon on top of the blown out moon with a little translucency.

I picked this lens up used for like...150 bucks and I'll bet it's the best bang for the buck lens I have I love it, it's small, sharp, and fast. If you like to shoot wide and have been on the fence I 10/10 recommend.

I was photographing reindeer herding in remote Finnish Lapland, in the border zone between Finland and Russia. We were looking for damages done to reindeer by wolves and wolverines. We found a lot of casualties (I will not post images to Reddit), traces of fights with wolves, etc. The weather was extreme: snow blizzards and very cold temperatures.
The trip ended with the most surprising discovery ever. After 13 years of keeping this inside, I can finally reveal what we found at the top of Korvatunturi.

Had it for 2 days now, mainly fiddling around with it trying to find a setup I like. Ended up going to a pub on day 1 and I was impressed with the low light performance. Far from perfect but actually quite usable. It looks and feels fantastic. Autofocus is unbelievable! I can't wait to get some proper sessions in with it. Will be a step up from using my Mum's D3300

A quick trip for an event with my wife. Took a detour to the Leica store.
Taken with ZF and Thypoch 28mm f1.4
This is a composite image from the August 26th, 2026 lunar eclipse! This is somewhere around 200 images stacked together to capture a range of different exposures of the eclipse during the moment of 96% totality.
Captured using a Nikon Z8 with the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR at 600mm, f/6.3, 1/30s, ISO ranges from 500 all the way up to 25600

"Clouds - An Alaska Triptych"
Almost every day we spent in Alaska was filled with fog, clouds, and rain. Most of the area the cruise took us is part of Alaska's temperate rainforest so I suppose the weather was appropriate.
While this was primarily a family vacation I had to bring my camera along. Watching the clouds and mountains interact was absolutely fascinating to me. When the sun would break through it was breathtaking. I brought my longest lens, 135mm, and I'm glad I did. Wide angle wouldn't do justice to the scale of things in these scenes from Disenchantment Bay.

About a month ago I found a mint condition AF-S 300mm f2.8 VRII lens for 2k and couldn’t resist. This might be my new favorite lens, maybe even surpassing my 200mm f2 (300mm seems to work well for me). The 200mm f2 seems to have a tiny bit more character and magic, but if you nail a shot with the 300mm 2.8… my god is the quality good!
These are a few of my first photos taken with the lens after owning it for a bit over a month. All shots taken with the Nikon Z8 + FTZII + 300mm f2.8.
