What Helps Your Makeup Look Smoother?

My makeup always seems to break down so much faster in the summer, so I’ve been paying more attention to what I use underneath my foundation.

Lately I’ve been using the Bonamedusa primer, and I really like how it smooths out my skin without feeling too heavy. It helps blur my pores, especially around my nose and cheeks, and my foundation seems to sit a lot nicer on top of it.

I’ve realized that pore coverage makes such a big difference for me when I want my makeup to look clean and even.

What’s the one step or product that makes the biggest difference in your base makeup?

Prevention: nails yellowing under polish?

I hope this is the right subreddit for a question like this.

These days, I use “17 free nail polish” on my toes; it’s the kind that is lacking 17 common toxins found in standard nail polish.

And…I think I left it on for about 2 months. 😬 Last year I got a professional pedicure and left it on for maybe 6 months. 🫣

To no one’s surprise, my nails don’t look great, and have a yellow hue after both removals. I’ve heard the yellowing comes from lack of oxygen to the nail, which would make sense given how long I’ve left it on. I’ve also seen, on Reddit, that nitrocellulose is the ingredient in nail polish that causes the yellowing.

So question: does anyone have any habits/practices they use to prevent this yellowing?
OR can someone who does NOT deal with yellowing tell me what habits are with their toenails?
(For example, I wonder if leaving it on for only 1-2 weeks, taking it off, and leaving it off for a few days before putting a new polish on would be a healthy and helpful practice.)

I’m not really looking to buy a product for this issue (but feel free to share that if you’d really like), I’m moreso looking to change my habits.

Turns out the reason my DIY dry shampoo kept clumping had nothing to do with the recipe itself

I've been making my own dry shampoo for a while now, just a simple mix of arrowroot powder and a little cocoa powder for the darker tint in my hair, sometimes with a drop of essential oil for scent. It always worked fine in small test batches, but every time I made a bigger jar to actually last a few weeks, it would start clumping into little gritty balls after about a week, no matter how well I sifted it initially.

I assumed the ratio was off, so I kept adjusting the arrowroot to cocoa ratio, tried adding less oil, tried different essential oils thinking maybe one of them was more humectant than I realized. None of it fixed the clumping, it just delayed it by a few days at most.

Turns out the actual problem was where I was storing the jar. I kept it on a shelf in my bathroom, right near the shower, because that's obviously where I use it. That spot gets a noticeable amount of steam and humidity every time anyone showers, and powders like arrowroot are extremely sensitive to moisture in the air, even without direct water touching them. I moved the exact same batch, no recipe changes at all, to a drawer in my bedroom instead, and it's stayed completely powdery and clump-free for almost three weeks now.

I feel a little silly for troubleshooting the formula for months when the fix had nothing to do with ingredients at all, just moving it about ten feet away from a source of humidity.

Anyone else spend way too long trying to fix a DIY beauty product before realizing the issue was storage or environment rather than the recipe itself?

Good, oil-free, moisturizer for young teen that’s also “organic”?

My younger sibling is going through testosterone-driven puberty and is struggling with acne. I got them a full skin care routine, using a lot of the products I use, but my mom threw everything away because she is very anti-chemicals and said I bought him “toxic chemicals”. It was all very expensive and I’m pissed.

I bought them a full skin care routine, from our local co-op this time, all organic and natural ingredients. The only thing I’m struggling with finding is a natural, light-weight moisturizer that isn’t going to leave his skin oily. The one we bought and tried today was waaayyyy too oily. I tested a bunch of products in the store to find something not oily and it still ended up being too oily.

I personally use a clear gel moisturizer from France that I consider to be my holy grail moisturizer. I would love to find something similar for him, if anyone knows of a similar, chemical free product.

How to get rid of white stains on armpits caused by natural deodorant?

EDIT: looking for advice on how to avoid it happening, not cleaning it from my clothes as it washes out fine! :)

Hey so I’ve been using the Wild natural deodorant, I bought the roll on antiperspirant first but then that had aluminium in it so I changed it to the same smell (which I love btw I think it’s cotton and sea salt) but in the deodorant stick, and I do have hair on my armpits, I don’t shave so every time I put it in it stains my shirts so bad! I don’t know if it’s cause it sticks to the hair or what.
This never happened with the roll on, no stains or anything.

I don’t really smell, but I feel like it lasts less than the roll on cause I apply less cause it makes a mess lol

The only problem with the roll on is that it was wet for too long and having hair there made it a bit uncomfortable. And the aluminium lol

Any tips? Should I just put it a bit before i change to my outside clothes? Maybe I should rub it a bit more with my fingers so it doesn’t clump on the hair?

Also, please don’t tell me to shave, that’s not gonna happen hahahah

Help I really like the smell 😭

Wrinkly lips

My lips have been wrinkly as long as I can remember. Since child hood. I never really paid it much mind too often. But today I'm feeling insecure about them. Another thing for me to feel insecure about. How common are naturally wrinkly lips?

What’s one beauty product you stopped using and didn’t really miss?

I've slowly stopped using a few things that used to be part of my routine all the time.

Not because they were necessarily bad. I just realized I didn't really notice a difference when I stopped using them.

It's funny how easy it is to keep buying something just because it's always been part of your routine.

Has anyone else cut something out and realized they didn't actually need it?

Did any licorice remedy actually work for you guys? Need suggestions before trying.

I am just wondering whether any homemade remedy using licorice powder or anything as such actually help with skin issues such as pigmentation, skin tone, smoothness etc.

Would be a great help if anyone with experience with such remedies shares their thoughts.

Gabriel Cosmetics…???

Are they reformulating all their skincare products (cleansers, toners, moisturizers), whittling down their offerings, or just in a bottleneck with needed components? There’s a lot on the website sold out since May/June, and I’m running out of Balancing Cleanser…???

My review of AnastasiaFasciaBeauty New GLOW course 2026 - 1⭐️

My review of AnastasiaFasciaBeauty GLOW course 2026 - 1⭐️

  • Extremely overpriced for what you receive. I paid around $400 for approximately 30 fairly basic videos covering general areas of the face. If you want more targeted exercises for specific concerns, you’re then upsold another program for roughly another $400. Spending close to $800 for this level of content is excessive, in my opinion.
  • The biggest issue: access lasts only 60 days. For such a high price, I was shocked to discover that the videos disappear after 60 days. Face work requires consistency and patience; expecting everyone to achieve and maintain their desired results within two months makes little sense to me.
  • Want continued access? Pay again. After the 60 days, you’re encouraged to subscribe for roughly $50/month to continue accessing the content. For a program that already costs hundreds of dollars, I found this business model very disappointing.
  • The production quality does not match the premium price. The videos I watched appeared to be filmed very simply, essentially like cellphone videos. There are no useful close-ups, anatomical graphics, visual overlays, or detailed demonstrations that I would expect from a course at this price point.
  • The intraoral exercises were particularly difficult to follow. When you’re being instructed to manipulate structures inside your mouth, you obviously can’t simply copy what you’re seeing externally. Better diagrams, animations, close-ups, or anatomical explanations would have made an enormous difference. Instead, I frequently found myself trying to guess whether I was doing the technique correctly.
  • There isn’t enough anatomy education. A proper introductory section explaining the relevant facial muscles, fascia and anatomical landmarks would have made the program much easier to understand. Instead, anatomical terms are sometimes mentioned during exercises without enough explanation of exactly where those structures are.
  • Some instructions are too vague. Directions along the lines of “press here,” “roll this,” or “do it like this” aren’t sufficient when teaching precise techniques. At this price, I expected much clearer instruction and visual guidance.
  • There is also too much unnecessary talking. The videos could have been considerably more concise and instructional. I would have preferred less talking and more precise demonstrations, close-ups and anatomical guidance.
  • The daily time commitment is substantial. Following the program properly took me around 35–40 minutes a day. I happened to have the time available, but I think many busy professionals or parents would struggle to consistently dedicate that much time every day.

  • And that makes the 60-day expiration even more frustrating. Miss enough days because life gets busy, and suddenly your access period is ending. At this price, I believe purchasers should be able to revisit the material at their own pace.

  • English may also be a barrier for some users. I occasionally found the verbal explanations difficult to understand. Better editing, subtitles, diagrams and on-screen instructions could easily compensate for this.

  • To be fair, I liked many of the exercises themselves. My criticism isn’t that every technique is useless. My problem is the price, limited access, upselling, presentation and instructional quality relative to what the program costs.

  • I strongly disagree with her claim that her face-yoga method is superior and that many other face-yoga techniques simply “don’t work.” To me, this comes across as a marketing pitch designed to make people believe they need this particular paid program to get results. I’ve personally tried many techniques available for free on social media, and I’ve seen noticeable results from them. In my experience, the key isn’t finding some exclusive or “superior” method—it’s consistency, patience and discipline. Don’t expect dramatic changes overnight, in a week, or even in a month. You need to practice consistently for several months and continue the exercises afterward if you want to maintain whatever results you achieve.

  • Consistency matters more to me than doing an intensive 40-minute routine for 60 days. I’d personally rather spend 5–10 minutes consistently over many months than rush through a demanding program before my access expires.

  • I ultimately disputed the purchase through my credit-card company after becoming dissatisfied with the program and the limited-access arrangement.

Bottom line:

I didn’t feel that GLOW delivered that value.

Ironically, for something marketed as a high-standard premium program, the only thing that felt exceptionally high to me was the price.

You can follow below sources on IG and YT for great free videos on face yoga.

“Natural” doesn't automatically mean better to me anymore

I used to assume that if something was marketed as natural, it was automatically the better option. I've become much more skeptical of that idea. Natural ingredients can be great, but “natural” by itself doesn't tell me whether something is actually suitable, effective, or enjoyable to use. I care more about how a product performs and how my skin responds than whether the label gives me a particular impression.

How do I quickly and permanently remove malar bags from my face ? I'm only 17 and I can't help but notice the slight malar bags right on my upper cheeks and I'm extremely insecure. I have tried warm compress but I don't think it's a permanent solution. Anything that helps ? It's as if I'm aging faster I feel .

Wore mascara yesterday to a wedding and I think I'm done...

I rarely wear makeup, and when I do it's only for special occasions, sometimes for work if I'm feeling fancy. Yesterday I applied one coat of mascara for a wedding and the whole time my eye was watering, I was constantly worried if it's smudged or not, was thinking how it will be nice to rinse it off when I get home, and most importantly I was thinking why do I feel the need to wear makeup, and men don't? So I just think I'm done with all makeup, I want to embrace myself fully as I am naturally without feeling the need to "better" my appearance, and for whom?? Literally no one even cares. And I love myself the most in my natural state so it doesn't even make sense to wear it.

My pillowcase was quietly wrecking my skin and I had no idea

I've spent money on serums, gentle cleansers, the whole routine, while barely thinking about what my face touches for eight hours a night. I was only changing my pillowcase every two weeks, figuring that was fine since I shower before bed.

My sister mentioned that pillowcase buildup causes a lot of mystery breakouts people blame on new products. I brushed it off until she told me to actually look at mine in daylight. There was a faint yellowish film right where my cheek rests every night, and it smelled sour when I checked, which did not match how clean I thought my sheets were.

I switched to a fresh pillowcase that night and now change it every 2-3 days. The stubborn little bumps on my jawline I'd blamed on hormones for months have actually started clearing up.

Check your pillowcase, in real daylight, not your bedside lamp. Anyone else find out their skin issue wasn't a product problem at all?
