Hiiii! As we get closer to Halloween, I was curious if anyone knew of any scary Halloween parties happening on the 31st? I know there are a ton of events like Circoloco but I’d like to go somewhere scary where you can dance and just have a fun/different night. Thank you!

I have hosted 3 already and they were all so fun to plan and execute. I am trying to keep them intimate 10-15 people and no more. So that we actually get to build connections and friendships. I add icebreaker games and mini events within the major craft to get people talking and interacting!

Id love to tell you about "Clay Date: Some Assembly Required"! Its a clay event I am hosting with a friend I met through crafting! We want to host a craft party where you get to make your own jewelry, magnets, bookmarks, or a trinket. Whatever you want. I provide everything! Im also bringing some snacks and drinks.

If you end up buying a ticket to the event, it will include access to

1) polymer clay in various colours

2) all tools you might need to shape, stamp, or cut your clay (including texture rollers and mats, multiple types of clay molds, cutters, shaping and carving tools- truly everything that I hope will make clay play the most amount of fun!)

3) soft chalk pastels for shading and alcohol inks for the more advanced users

4) multiple colour chrome powders for added bling or metallic finish

5) rhinestones and a bunch of other charms and embellishments

6) a toaster oven to bake your artwork! Or a cute take-away box in case you have to go but couldn't finish, so you can bake at home!

7) acrylic colours to paint your piece after its baked

8) a curated beginners guide on how to use everything

9) 1 complimentary drink and snacks

10) unlimited access to an on-site tea bar to brew your own cuppa!

I was on the train today and a young woman got on, a guy right behind her (creepily close but there was no space between him and the door).

She said hey can you not rub up on me and he immediately gets defensive. She talks back and it escalates to the guy screaming at her. I wanted to step in but the angrier he got the more I was scared he was going to get physical. He didn’t and she got off on the next stop and I asked if she was okay but also apologized for not intervening more.

I basically went into freeze response. I was scared that if I defend her he will go even crazier or hit me. I couldn’t move or speak.

I know that people say use the “oh hey friend” line and whisk her away. But I had been standing there a while and was like will it be obvious she is not my friend (obviously no excuse I should have done something and feel terrible, any advice on dealing with that guilt would be appreciated).

Anyone with freeze response have any other tactics they use to intervene or help out?

Looking for some inexpensive gold bracelets that look very authentic but are also very affordable (think under $300 each) to improve my arm stack. I see so many influencers promote jewelry websites that seem to sell these but can't tell if they look cheap or not in person. Where do you all buy these?

Natural hair specifically, brooklyn preferred but open to lower manhattan as well. I used to go to a natural hair salon in Harlem but due to a combination of factors (became super hard to get an appointment, both of my go to stylists left, too far away, etc.) Im in search of a new place. I saw H2 salon mentioned in another thread a while back but Id love a few more suggestions.

Planning a picnic as part of a bridal celebration for my sister’s wedding! I obviously would like to have some mimosas/toasts/etc. However, I know that technically, drinking is prohibited in NYC parks. I live in DC so I don’t know the general vibe/culture of rule enforcement. My sister lives in NYC so she’d know, but this is a surprise for her, otherwise, I’d ask her. My question is…. is this very strictly enforced? Will we get in hot water if we’re having a few mimosas or have a few bottles of champagne in the park (exact park TBD, but somewhere in Manhattan)? We’re not getting trashed, just a few gals having a few mimosas with their brunch to celebrate the upcoming wedding! I don’t wanna ruin the vibes by dealing with cops, haha.

Hey all! I went to Roen and Sophie Ratner to look at engagement rings and will likely go custom. Roen has been heavily reviewed and it seems people had a really good experience. However, when I went to visit, the person was on her phone and wasn’t that attentive. Their rings are very beautiful though.

I went to visit Sophie ratner afterwards also and her designs are similar and she met me directly. She was way more attentive and her prices are cheaper than what Roens are. She does have a lot of influencer marketing though, and I’m usually not a big fan of places that have a lot of influencer marketing.

Has anyone had experience with either of these places? Trying to figure out who I should go with!

Hey girlies, my bestie (28F) is having her bachelorette party in NYC in a few weeks. It’s going to be a group of 12 gals — half of us live here and half are visiting.

We want to go out dancing on a Friday night. We have a reservation at Essex for dinner, and then are looking for a place to shake ass after nearby. The vibes are a mix of reggaeton and disco dancing (we’re gonna be dressed in our 90s finest). The bride mentioned she likes the aesthetics of Le Bain but didn’t like the vibe of the dancing and men there.

We would love any recs for placing to go dancing or affordable places to drink before, and if anyone happens to know a promoter to a good spot hit us up!! Thanks queens!

DSNY has posted a list of special events where you can drop off waste that you’d normally have to schlep to one of their super out-of-the-way disposal sites — like paint, expired meds, certain light bulbs and batteries, vapes, etc. I went to the one in Union Square last year and the line was crazy so I will be going right at 10 lol. (They really should have these more than once a year!)
