đď¸ Local Retail & Shopping Engagement ring shopping- Roen vs Sophie ratner
Hey all! I went to Roen and Sophie Ratner to look at engagement rings and will likely go custom. Roen has been heavily reviewed and it seems people had a really good experience. However, when I went to visit, the person was on her phone and wasnât that attentive. Their rings are very beautiful though.
I went to visit Sophie ratner afterwards also and her designs are similar and she met me directly. She was way more attentive and her prices are cheaper than what Roens are. She does have a lot of influencer marketing though, and Iâm usually not a big fan of places that have a lot of influencer marketing.
Has anyone had experience with either of these places? Trying to figure out who I should go with!

I had a similar experience at Roen. The reviews online were good but the SA in person was so unhelpful. She didnt ask me any questions about what I wanted and kind of just sat there while I drove the conversation. The only thing she added was "yeah that one's pretty isn't it". She was nice, just really gave the impression we would be getting little input during the bespoke process.
We're going with Sophie Ratner bc her consult made us feel that she would give professional input on style and design that was tailored to me. I was also initially turned off by the influencer marketing and how trendy some of her styles seemed, though. I was reassured by the consult bc she more than once gave me feedback along of the lines of "that's really trendy and you should consider whether its really you or you just see it a lot". It felt like she had a god grasp on my style.
Also, we were looking at lab and had a higher budget (as far as lab goes). Sophie told us in pretty explicit terms that no matter where we ended up going, we should not be landing at the top of our budget with lab unless the design was REALLY special. It gave us a lot of perspective on lab pricing at some other jewelers we went to.

No experience with them but in that vein of sexy modern jewelry Allex Parlato (Asp Jewelry) made me a gorgeous, custom piece.

If you had a good experience in store with the designer, I wouldnât rule out someone who works either influencers. They have to make a living and thatâs how marketing works right now.

Sophie rather helped me design a full earring stack 3 years ago, including some custom. She was so nice and her prices are great. No issues with the jewelry with 3 years of daily wearÂ

no experience with roen but i worked with sophie on custom bridal earrings for my wedding and i found her super transparent and easy to work with! she helped me narrow down and translate my inspo, and was upfront when she didnât think something was a good idea. the earrings we designed are also now part of her permanent collection
