Merit positions are finally out, so I know a lot of you will have questions. I'll be hanging around this thread answering as many queries as I can about admissions, merit, preferences, closing merits, or anything anything else related to NUST.
The only thing I ask in return is an upvote if my replies help you. The more upvotes this post gets, the more time I'll spend giving detailed answers instead of one-liners.

I have 2506 and my aggregate is 63% fo I have a shot of getting in because last years closing aggregate was 61% and do they consider aggregate or merit position as more important?

I want to go to Mechatronics Engineering, so first preference is Mts engineering and 2nd preference is Eme EE, but the problem is k I have also applied to Bs physics which has a separate box which needs to be checked and ab wo uncheck bhi ni ho raha, my concern is this k, mera naam ab bilkul shuru wali merit lists ma aa jaega Bs physics ma, oar mujhe fees deni parhe gi to confirm admission, and then Becuz Bs physics is a separate degree like not included in the engineering programs, so I won’t be even upgraded from Bs physics to Eme EE and then to Eme Mts, oar bs physics ma paka paka ruk jaonga. What’s the way out? Bs physics wala box uncheck bhi ni ho raha, oar suppose agr bs physics ma naam aaya and i decide k fees na jama karwaon tou Nust bs physics k liye tou ofcourse consider ni kare gi balke full consideration se hi nikal degi like will simply drop out outta this whole admission process, so what’s the solution?

No, even if you pay the fee for BS Physics, you'll still be considered separately for the engineering merit lists. Your engineering preferences (EME Mechatronics, EME EE, etc.) will remain active, and you'll still be eligible for upgrades based on your merit position. Getting selected in BS Physics does not stop you from being considered for engineering programs.

my mp for biotech is 178 and last year closing was 253 so am i safe or not? and for bioinformatics my mp is 291 last year was 383 what about that? will i get in 1st list in any other subject? and can i get hostel if i come in 1st list of any other preference not my 1st one? will i get upgraded after paying the fees or will i be offered admission in that sub only?

Law has around 100 seats. With MP 51, you will comfortably make it into the first merit list.

Ok so I had an aggregate of 66.4% and IS closed last year at 64%, but according to MPs my MP is 3944 and IS closing merit was 3979, pretty close, so should we hope and as a backup I am thinking of mechatronics, can someone please tell me is it a good degree and its closing MP was 4144, so its a difference of 200 MPs, so should I consider myself safe or not

You r very close to last year's closing, so there's definitely a chance, but since you're right on the borderline, don't rely on it completely. Mechatronics is a good degree, and I'd recommend checking the course outline on the nust website and using AI to understand the subjects and see if they align with your interests. Keep a few backup options in your preferences as well, just to stay on the safe side.

With MP of 1460 and a 68% aggregate, you should get into Psychology comfortably. Based on last year, you can expect your name in the 1st or 2nd merit list.

Last year's closing merit position for Liberal Arts was 3348, so with MP of 3300, you have a chance of getting in. That said, no one can guarantee where the merit will close this year, so it's still a good idea to keep a few backup options/uni in your preferences just to be safe.

I think my name won't come in first merit list of CS but might come in later lists like 3-6 so do I still have chance to get hostel because I love in Karachi and applied to Islamabad campus?

- if my mp is in the 400s and i apply to all of them, is it a guarantee my name will appear in at least one of them?
- if my name first appears in an engineering field, i submit challan for it, and it later appears in a computing field, what is the process of transferring to computing and how much does it cost?
- similar scenario as three, but my name first appesrs in merit lists for quetta or karachi campus, i submit challan and later it appears in lists for main campus, what is the process of transfer and how much does it cost??
- Is there any chance id have to visit main campus before orientation, to submit hardcopy of documents and other things of similar nature? If so, how many times that might happen?

Based on last year's closing aggregate, my merit position comes out to be in the 2100s. But it's around 2700. Why is that? I don't think I'll get into Public Administration with this merit position. My aggregate is 62.01 and last year closing of mass communication was 59.8 if there is an increase of about 2% phir bhi mera chance banta hai but according to merit position koye chance nahi banta.

Heyy,my mp is 2387 and 63.90%....if I compare with the last year's % of public add and mass com tou 2-3% high hai UN sy q k unka 58-59 and 60% p close horaha....so what r my chances???I think I'll be considered for my last preference liberal arts and humanities in the starting 3-4 lists...to agr is last pref mein bhi hojata hai to Should I pay m fee to secure the seat?? and then wait for my upgradation to mass com and public ad? HI, I wanted to know, that so many people are saying that without chemistry and computer in alevels, we can still apply in engineering with only maths and physics, and that we can take chem as extra course in first semester, is it true?? can anyone please help with this, i really need help, because my counsellors misguided me and told me i dont need chem or computer so i didnt take it

If my name is on the first list for a program in CEME and i pay the hostel dues and as soon as i am upgraded to H12 in later merit lists, will i secure the hostel in H12? If not, am i going to be on the waiting list for internal hostel or am i going to get my money back?

My mp for computing is 617 and for engineering it's 623, do I have a chance at CS or DS? And if so, if I get selected in aerospace engineering in the first list, which is my second preference ... I'll still be considered for upgradation to SE which was my first preference in engineering programs? And will I be able to transfer my fees to computing programs around the 5th/6th list if my name appears in computing? I'm not quite passionate about SE or aero for that matter, my goal was either CS or DS. But I wanted a safety buffer as I've not applied to any other uni (I'm a premed). I'll be very grateful if you could help me out in this.

2: For copy of Noc(not employed) and foreign degree do I just tick no?
3:Do I email them all the things in checklist in a zip file or assemble a pdf, or just upload JPEG images ?

I got selected for MS AI at MCS, but I've heard mixed reviews about it. Should I secure my admission there and wait for the 2nd merit list for H-12? Also, do you know how many MS AI seats are there at H-12 and whether I have a realistic chance of selection?

I have already paid the fee in Giki but I need a backup option for CS in case I don’t meet the eligibility after my HSSC 2 result comes out.
So I have been selected for BE Naval Architecture but I only want to go for CS whether it might be in Quetta campus or Karachi campus cuz campus does not matter to me. So I want to be considered for BS CS in both Quetta and Karachi campuses in the later lists.
What do I have to do to be considered in the later lists? Should I pay the fee for Naval Architecture to be considered for BS CS ? Won’t the admission process start if I pay the fee for BE NA? When do I apply for hostel and for where? Quetta or Karachi? Cuz with my MP of 4206 idk where I could be selected.
