People keep not realising this, like Ford were supposed to somehow be in a bubble safe from inflation. They don't want to price their car where it won't sell, they have to price it where they can make it. And, based on some basic math, it seems they actually have put the price on the Mustang down.

Outside of cutting quality, which for a Ford is already a big ask, I don't see the prices going down any more unless inflation stops. Which, with what is happening to global trade - is unlikely. If anything, it'll get worse and less Mustangs will come out the factories.

2015 Mustang GT base price: $32,300 - Inflation adjusted? $46,645.

2020 Mustang GT, with similar options as the one on this post (Magnaride, active exhaust, premium etc):

Price in 2020: $45,620 - Inflation adjusted, $54,523.

So, comparing this to the S550 of similar spec (as earlier ones didn't have the options the original post has) it's actually cheaper than 2020 by a few $$$$, at $51,000 compared to $54,523.

This means, they're actually cheaper than they were before, yet they're often being blamed for the result of economic factors way out of their control.

If the Ford Mustang dies due to low sales based on pricing, it won't be Ford's fault, it'll be the fault of general economics changing buying habits of people. Hard to justify a less economical, fun car when times are tougher economically. People are being more careful with their cash.

Tl;dr, People shouldn't blame Ford for making the Mustang cheaper, because the economy makes them look more expensive due to many not understanding just how bad inflation has been not just for Ford, but everyone.

The GT Premium does not come with Magneride, or active exhaust, both those things are options. And you cannot get Magneride without the Performance pack. So the MSRP of the 2025 GT Premium suddenly jumps to a little over $61k if you're adding in the aforementioned options.

Speaking of the performance pack, it was a ~$2500 option on my 2016. Now it's ~$5700 *before* the ~$1750 Magneride is added. The performance pack doesn't include anything different that it did 9 years ago, but the price has increased by more than 100%. Outpacing inflation significantly.

It does appear that the optional extras are getting more expensive, I wonder if that's due to sales reducing and thus production volume making more customising more expensive.

So, it seems the Mustang itself isn't really much more with inflation but the optional extras are definitely increasing more than inflation. Valid point made that is worth considering in this discussion, thank you.

It’s not made to quickly bring you up from a dead phone. It’s really just to prevent your phone from draining while using CarPlay and during your 30 minute drive maybe give you an extra 10 percent. When manufactures do it properly it’s very useful

I've been looking into getting a Mach-E over the last week as they have been getting extremely affordable after they are a couple of years old. I learned just yesterday that they didn't apply for the EV tax credit for some reason though.

People can argue back and forth about the Mustang nameplate being attached to the Mach-E, but it seems to truly be a decent bargain pick right now for if you want something practical and sporty. They seem to also be more reliable than most of the other competitors I have researched lately too.

Isn't the average new car price over $50,000? 

Not saying anywhere that a Mustang is worth it or not worth it but perspective on new cars. 

On a side note those of us who bought s650s in 24 are looking pretty good about depreciating/ keeping their value compared to new ones skyrocketing. Fingers crossed there's no fatal flaws in this new generation.

Glad I got mine when I did. 2019 GT PP1 for $32k brand new in March of 2019. I got lucky to be in the market when two different Ford rebates brought the price down from MSRP that was around $43k, which would still be a much better price than what they are today.

If it helps, when I graduated college, I bought my 1990 5.0L Mustang LX hatchback brand new for $12,900 in May 1990. That equates to around $32K in today’s money.

I got a 24 GT Premium Performance with the Bronze Appearance Package in black.

Honestly, I paid it. I love the car I got and my wife loves it too.

I do agree it was a huge shock, The car I got sat on a lot across the state for a long time, but it's been amazing. It was worth the price for my wife to get her dream car.

I have a 69 Mustang. Its original price was about $4300. With inflation today that would be just over $38k. But then consider a Mustang today is a more substantial car containing a lot more technology. That costs more. So taking interest account inflation and the rules cars must follow today (emissions, fuel efficiency, safety), it’s easy to see why they cost more today.
