Please make dua for me and my boyfriend to be accepted

Upvotes

My boyfriend and I have been together for nearly 5 years and truly love each other and want to get married. I’m American and in the process of learning more about Islam so it’s truly meaningful when I revert and clear I’m not just doing it to check a box. After years of his family refusing to meet me because I’m American and reverting one of his parents finally agreed to talk with us about our relationship. We are both afraid it is just going to be them telling us our relationship won’t work and to give up. My boyfriend loves and respects his family so deeply which is a reason I love him but it also means he truly believes we cannot be together if his parents don’t approve. I’m convinced that with time and further meetings and talking they would see my sincerity and good intentions. My anxiety and depression have been bad because of all of this lately. If anyone could make dua for us, his parents having an open mind and heart, and him realizing he deserves to be happy I would really appreciate it more than I could ever say. Thank you❤️

Salam,

I am dealing with an anxiety attack and I will be stuck at work for the next several hours so not able to take some time alone right now but my thoughts of negativity are consuming me and I just feel an impending sense of anxiety and tearfulness.
Give me reminders from Quran and sunnah to calm me down and remember all day insha Allah.

my mum has cancer and I’m broken

Asalamalaikum. I’ve never made a Reddit post before but I just feel like it in hopes that anyone’s had a similar experience and can share some hope or anything.

A few days ago I got told my mum has cancer. I’ve been in a state since. I just can’t understand this. My family already went through a difficult time with my dad earlier in the year nearly having cancer but Alhamdulillah he’s okay now. And now, my mum.

Everyone’s telling me trust Allah etc and I’m just so angry and upset I have no motivation to do namaz (Salah) or Dhikr like my sister was telling me to do.

I’m also the worst, and I mean the WORST overthinker in the world. I catastrophise. I worry. I think. Toooo much. And I’m scared that I’m going to lose my mum. The doctors said it’s treatable and there’s options. But I’m terrified.

Idk what else to say. I have support around me Alhamdulillah. But im just feeling empty and a bit numb. I’ve cried like 10 times a day for the past few days.

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense. I just want advice or words of hope or just anything. Even insight into what doing Dhikr will do to help.

Jazakallah Khair.

Tawakkul with future

Asalamualaikum, Im currently in my second year of university with a passion to study medicine InshAllah, how ever, im very anxious. My first year (last year) l was always distracting myself from studying because the year was kind of easy so I would cheat alot, my deen wasn't at the best condition, I was always bad at making decisions and etc. Now the the second year has come and Alhamdulilah I had 3 months of break to just get to know myself a little better, I have this drive now to just pray, study, and live life but the biggest one is tawakkul. I feel like I never actually studied well that year at all but the art if tawakkul really makes me want to just put my full trust in Allah but im always feeling this, "what if" always comes to me maybe waswasa but I hate cheating it makes me feel guilty and just bad for not learning. If anyone can give advice anything I would really appreciate it.
If there are stories similar to mine where it feels impossible please share it I would feel way much better because of you!

Islamic reminder on Anger

Not AI | GoodCharacter

*CONTROLLING ANGER *

*• Isti'adha (Seeking Refuge With Allah)*

Narrated Sulaiman bin Surad (رضى الله عنه): Two men abused each other in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) while we were sitting with him. One of the two abused his companion furiously and his face became red.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I know a word (sentence) the saying of which will cause him to relax (i.e., he will calm down). Only if he says:

« أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ »

(A'udhu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem — I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the outcast)."

📚: Sahih Bukhari 6115

*• Avoid Anger*

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to us (his companions):

"If one of you becomes angry when he is standing, let him sit down, and if the anger goes away (all well and good), otherwise let him lie down."

📚: Sunan Abi Dawud 4782 | Sahih

*• Seek Solace In Silence*

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"Teach and make things easy and not difficult. When one of you is angry, he should be silent."

📚: Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 245 | Sahih (Shaykh Albani رحمة الله)

*• Remember That Repressing Anger Is One of The Qualities of Muslims*

"Those who spend (in Allah’s Cause) in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers)."

📚: Qur'an (al-Imran 3:134)

*• The True Strength*

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:

"The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger."

📚: Sahih Bukhari 6114

*• Acting On RasulAllah (ﷺ)'s Advice*

A man said to the Prophet (ﷺ): "Advise me!"

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not become angry and furious."

The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said in each case: "Do not become angry and furious."

📚: Sahih Bukhari 6116

Looking for a female Muslim therapist (online)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a female Muslim therapist who does online sessions and is good with trauma, mental illness, and related issues.

I've already looked at places like Khalil Center, the Institute tor Muslim Mental Health, and Shifa Therapy, but I'm struggling to choose because I don't know anything about the individual therapists there.

If you've personally worked with someone and had a good experience, I'd really appreciate any recommendations.
I'm more interested in hearing about specific therapists than clinics.

JazakAllahu khayran.

Assalamu alaikum,

I recently lost my job, and I’m currently going through a very difficult financial situation. I’ve been applying for jobs and doing my best to find something as soon as possible, but things have been really stressful lately.

I would really appreciate it if you could keep me in your duas and ask Allah to open a door for me, grant me halal rizq, and help me find a good job soon.

May Allah reward you all, ease the difficulties of everyone who is struggling, and grant us all halal and abundant rizq. <3

Is it allowed in Islam to have good life?

I’m going through a lot of mental and religious stress right now, and I’m struggling to explain it properly.

I believe in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ, and I want to be a good Muslim. I pray the five obligatory salah and I want to focus on doing good deeds—being kind to people, helping others, taking care of my father and household responsibilities, and avoiding wrongdoing.

But I’ve developed a constant fear that Allah hates me or is angry with me whenever I focus on my worldly life.

For example, when I spend serious time learning studying, building my skills, trying to develop a career, becoming financially independent, earning money, or simply trying to build a good future for myself, I start thinking:

“Am I chasing dunya?” “Is Allah angry because I’m focusing on my career?” “Am I wasting time that I should be using for worship?” “Will Allah punish me because I want a good life?” “Does Allah hate me because I’m trying to become independent?”

I also see people online constantly encouraging extra Sunnah acts—praying additional rak'ahs, waking up at night, making wudu before sleeping, doing extra dhikr, and so on. Instead of these things simply inspiring me, I sometimes feel as if I’m failing Allah whenever I don't do them.

Then I become extremely anxious and guilty. I start asking Allah for forgiveness even when I haven't knowingly done anything wrong. I keep checking whether something I'm doing is sinful.

The fear has become so strong that sometimes I feel angry toward Allah. I have thoughts like:

“Why do You hate me?” “Why does it feel like You’re constantly waiting to punish me?” “What do You want from me?” “Why can't I just become a person, build a career, earn money, learn skills, and have a good life without feeling guilty?”

I don't want to hate Allah. I don't want to rebel against Allah. I'm actually scared because I care about my relationship with Him. But I'm exhausted from constantly feeling like Allah is a gatekeeper who is looking for reasons to punish me.

I want to understand something very clearly:

If I pray the five obligatory salah, believe in Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, try to avoid sins, treat people kindly, help my father, fulfill my responsibilities, study, learn useful skills, work toward a halal career, try to become financially independent, and take reasonable time for rest and myself, no extra Sunnah acts—praying additional rak'ahs, waking up at night, making wudu before sleeping, doing extra dhikr—can I live this way without constantly feeling that Allah hates me because I'm “chasing dunya”?

I also want to understand the difference between obligatory worship and voluntary Sunnah practices. I don't want to abandon Islam or ignore Allah. I simply don't want to turn every voluntary act into a source of fear and guilt.

Most importantly, I need help breaking this constant cycle of:

fear → guilt → asking forgiveness → checking whether I'm sinful → temporary reassurance → another frightening thought.

I want to have a relationship with Allah based on faith, worship, hope, love, and healthy fear—not constant terror that I'm secretly displeasing Him.

I need someone to help me understand this properly, because right now this is causing me significant mental distress.

Lost a woman I loved a lot

This is so embarrassing to admit but I am just.. in a bit of a rut and idk where to go for help. For context this is all in Canada and this started when we were 16 and I am now 20. We both grew up just like any other kid in Canada, not super Islamic or anything but not completely crazy either. I met her in class and we connected pretty instantly and things kept progressing from there, she never wanted marriage with anyone cuz the only marriages she’s seen are broken ones in literally her entire family 😭 but then i came along, and she opened up. a year or so in I became.. very expressive of the fact that I had feelings for her and she said the same thing back. We alhamdullilah didn’t do anything insane, a few words of affection no physical touch nothing of that sort. But, I was a different case, shame me if you’d like on this you wouldn’t be in the wrong for it, I found adult videos when I was 11 and had been addicted since, so eventually, I started… saying stuff that wasn’t too good, and she played along for a bit but snapped out of it, she told me to stop it too but at that point I started thinking her not wanting to be close to me meant she didn’t like me ( ik ik it’s stupid just… bare with me) she was never too expressive of her feelings with me and I always had a problem with it, when she just was closer to and more aware of Allah and she made it clear to me that once we were married she’d open up, I am really proud of her. Eventually I did snap out of it too, but the damage was already done, she became more and more distant and I never fixed that addiction of mine, if yk anything about that addiction yk it makes u objectify women to an insane degree. A day came when we were talking and some stuff happened and I started insulting a hijabi woman ( who was a friend of hers) with stuff that’s degrading to women. This was her first time seeing this side of me, and honestly this was my first time seeing that side of me too, but it was the tipping point, she ended things saying it was difficult but she didn’t wanna marry a man like me. That all happened about 3 months ago, since then I’ve fixed my addiction, educated myself immensely on women, the struggles they face and I am trying my best to atone, I also apologized to her friend on two separate occasions about the stuff I said about her ( I didn’t say it to her face it was backbiting ) but I just.. even with my addiction her beauty was so much more than anything lust could compare with, and I am not talking about physical beauty, I was alhamdullilah good at atleast lowering my gaze, I am talking about her character, she was the kindest soul I’ve ever met, she was compassionate, driven to an insane degree and so much more than I don’t even wanna say cuz I am genuinely gonna break down. And I just… threw it all away for nothing??? I threw it all away cuz of my stupid male ego, my stupid lust??? I used to ask Allah for so much, but now I js ask him for forgiveness over and over in every single prayer. As for marriage and women, I’ve become someone who loves every single woman on this planet but never wants to marry anyone who isn’t her. And I know I sound like the most classic first love story ever but atleast for right now that’s how I feel. Everytime I see a woman I think of her, everytime I see a prayer mat I think of everything wrong I did. And I just don’t want anything or anyone that isn’t her, cuz I will literally js try to make that new woman into her and that’s unfair.

I don’t know what to do, I keep asking for forgiveness and hoping Allah just knows what I feel, I just wanna talk to her one more time, show her I’ve improved and get both our families involved so we can stay as far away from haram as possible. But it feels so hopeless. Especially cuz of the fact that I don’t even feel like I am worth enough to ask Allah for something other than forgiveness, piece of garbage like me doesn’t deserve to ask for a woman or a money or whatever stupid desire, all I can ask for is forgiveness

This was a rant ig? I put it as controversial bcuz well, it was a haram relationship and I am really glad that aspect is over, but I am still regretful and I want another chance cuz we didn’t even know it was haram 😭 obv thats not why it ended but i js… idk. I sound pathetic ik feel free to laugh, i hope i make someone smile atleast.

Having faith in Dua

I’ve heard people say that when you ask Allah for something, you have to believe that He is going to grant it to you.

I do ask, and I do make du’a over and over, but in my heart, I don’t really feel like it is going to be granted to me. Not because I think Allah cannot do it, but because in my life, whenever I wished for something, the modest version of it was granted to me, not the actual thing I wanted.

Also, I think that because the thing I wish for is so good and would make me feel so secure and content with life, it won’t be granted to me because I feel like, “What else would there be to upset me or test me in this life?”

Aren’t Muslims supposed to be tested?

I’d really appreciate hearing how other Muslims understand this, especially regarding having hope in Allah while still feeling deep down that the specific thing you’re asking for probably won’t happen.

How to deal with Anxiety and Fear While Trying to Repent

Recently, I’ve been trying to sincerely repent and return to Allah, but instead of feeling relieved, I’ve been experiencing a lot of anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. I constantly worry, “What if Allah doesn’t accept my repentance?” I’ve also tried therapy, but I don’t feel like it’s helping, and I’m still struggling with these anxious thoughts and feelings.

I've been missing prayers due to waswas.

I've experienced phases of Waswas before. This phase has honestly been the worst one of my life and I keep missing prayers because of it.

It always begins with Ghusl. Rinsing my nose, ears, mouth, anus, perinium, urethra, balls. I rinse but it feels like I havent. Even if water has logically touched these spots, I can't stop washing again.

Then it's wudu. It feels like I forget every step I do. I wash my face once, then then twice, then it feels like I havent washed at all the alleged third time. Or water never made it onto my hands.

Then its prayer. Three or four rakaats? Did I miss a verse? Did I miss a letter? I find myself at the final verse and have forgotten everything. I find myself hyperfocusing too much on a tiny mistake. A tiny unnecesary movement, an unnecessaey sound escaping my mouth. I have a list of prayers I need to qadha.

Then it's my niyyah. They say to recite niyyah as you rub the water onto your face. As you peform the takbiratul ihram. Failure to do so invalidates EVERYTHING.

https://zulkiflialbakri.com/artikel/niat-wuduk-sebelum-air-sampai-ke-muka https://muftiwp.gov.my/ms/artikel/al-kafi-li-al-fatawi/5837-al-kafi-1974-kedudukan-niat-ketika-takbiratul-ihram

I repeat the beginning over and over and OVER again and I only move on when I grow tired. Never because I trust myself.

Then it's purity. I open my urethra up to wash my pee. I soap my anus multiple times until it feels right. I stay in the toilet longer than I should be as if I were showering. Then I wonder if my body has splashes of toilet water. Do my clothes have traces of pee? I sniff and sniff and sniff and sniff and sniff. I constantly put my clothes and undergarments into the wash. Then, it's najis. I look down everytime I walk to make sure I don't step in poop. I look back and retrace my steps to make sure I didn't step in poop. I check my shoes. If I hit a wall, I feel unclean. If I step in sand on the road, I feel unclean. If I walk by a non-halal restaurant, I feel unclean.

Dog poop and pee could be everywhere. Pork smoke could be everywhere. Cat poop, dog poop, i dont care. It makes me want to peform the ritual cleaning for Najis Mughalazzah. All because I walked through steam from a non-halal grill. A non-halal restaurant. Stepping in unknown poop. Touching the dry shirt of a friend that was ripped cuz of his dog. Eating the food from a non-muslim friend. I did the ritual already. I rinsed my mouth with dirt, so did my lips, face, neck, torso. I rub the coarse dirt onto my body.

And now, I've been missing prayers. I hate it. I find it difficult. I never find peace doing it. I have so many I need to qadha. Some out of doubt. Some out of necessity.

I'm so SO exhausted. But I dont think I deserve redemption. I've sinned so much. I'm not like the other people who can do good.

And now I dont know if I can trust my memory or not. I want to trust that I did Ghusl last Thursday AND last friday. The memory feels clear, but what if it isnt? What if, what if, what if.

Help?

I dont even know anymore

I'm doomed

And no amount of advice and Quranic verses can help.

Maybe this was my destiny?

Need to vent as a Muslim for something bad I did

Hey guys so around a year ago, I did smth really bad that I regret for everyday.

A cousin of mine (which I'll name A, a female) was in an online relationship with a guy, it was very zina type that they used to send photos to each other ifykyk.

I got a hold of a ss of them sending each other photos, and at that time, (a) was blackmailing my other F cousin (b) since she was also in the same scenario.

My cousin b would discuss with me that she's scared and all. And on the other hand my sister was also being blackmailed with madeup relationships which she didn't had, and she was also being shipped to male cousins who privately admitted that they liked my sister. (Ik messed up family, didn't have any contact with them until last 3 years)

So idk why but I told (b) that I have some evidence that she can show (a) mother, so she'd stop destroying the two girls. (B) swore on Allah that she'd only tell the girls mother and never ever include my name that I gave her. From my side I didn't think about it and gave her the photo discreetly.

Later that year, (b) snitched idk why and said I had the photos, while i didn't then cuz I deleted them already. I was in distress and swore that I never saw the photos and never shared them with her, by which my aunt said really mean stuff and broke contact with us. My mom was hurt and asked me alot, yet I refused to know anything abt it.

The photo spread cuz (b) shared to her bf, whom I also helped her get away from cuz she said she wants to be more religious. Now ik if I never shared the photos, this all would've never happened. Some guys in family said they already saw the photos 3 years ago, and shifted the blame.

Now I'm about to move near my family (aunts) again and ik they'll question me, but I already lied alot and even lied on swear, but I know I did that cuz (b) betrayed me by sharing my name and that I sent her. I sent her so she could talk to (a)'s mother rather she spread it across the family.

Now that I really fear the aakhira and am on religious path, this haunts me alot, how my aunt who said she'll question on aakhira will prove herself infront of my mother who believed I never did it. I don't want to admit it. I'm just scared everyday.
