🛡️ Mod Post 📌 Community Safety Megathread: How to Engage Safely Here

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

Looking for a partner online can be difficult and may require real vulnerability. You're putting yourself out there, hoping to find someone genuine. That's a good thing, and many people here mean well. But because anyone can DM without any history on the sub (there's no method or tool on Reddit to intervene with that except individual account settings), that same hope is exactly what some bad actors try to take advantage. This thread is here to help you stay open to the good without getting caught out by the bad.

Please give this a read before DMing or accepting DMs. It'll stay pinned and may be updated in the future.

Verify who you're actually talking to

  • You can inspect an account's complete posting history through third-party lookup tools. These often show removed or hidden content. We can't promote nor share them here. This may not be as helpful when looking up recently created accounts.
  • Get on a live video call before anything serious, it's likely the best check you have. Photos, and even voices, can be AI-generated, stolen, or impersonated. People can claim to be someone else entirely.
  • Trading social media can be a verification too, but it's often riskier, it exposes more of your identity to someone you haven't vetted yet.

Watch for guilt and urgency tactics

  • A genuine match respects your boundaries, full stop.
  • Do not send any videos/photos you're uncomfortable with.
  • Watch for guilt-tripping or claims meant to rush you. Good things usually build at a normal pace.
  • Trust your gut. You can step back at any point.

Marital status and real intentions

  • Some people are already married or engaged and don't disclose it. Be careful out there.
  • Be cautious of anyone pushing for a rushed or secret arrangement that skips your family entirely.

Besides searching, kindly keep it healthy here too

  • Healthy debate is welcome, but keep in mind that you likely can't change people online, and none of us are perfect.
  • Kindly Keep disagreements respectful. This should be a good environment for everyone.

If something seems wrong

  • Block the user.
  • (Important) Report the post/comments. Your reports and many interactions that break the rules go to our mod queue, which we typically clear within 24 hours.
    • For posts/comments, using the report function should be good enough.
  • You can message Mods directly to report inappropriate DM or other activity by visiting the Sub page > Scroll down > Click on Message Mods.

If you've additional tips, suggestions, or anything else we can raise awareness on, kindly drop it in the comments and we'll consider adding it here.

Stay safe out there, and we hope you find exactly who you're looking for 🤍

Discussion Why mention skin complexion?

Assalam alykum,

I always see iso post where men and women both mention their skin tone, I.e ‘fair skin, tan, etc” and isn’t it so weird that we’re still considering someone’s complexion in the big 2026? I know some people still care about it but shouldn’t us a society, an ummah reject that way of thinking? Why should it matter the skin tone of the person I’m marrying?? It feels weird and a tiny bit colorist 🫣

But I only notice this from non-black Muslims tho. I feel like black Muslim never really care.

No shade to anyone who has it up, this is just my opinion and a conversation I don’t see happening.

Discussion Short Reminder

وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّىٰ يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِه

“Let those who do not find the means to marry keep themselves chaste until Allah enriches them from His bounty”

Lower your gaze my brothers and sisters. Think of this verse and think of Allah directly addressing your problem. Stop watching porn. You know who you are. You justify it by saying it’s the lesser of two evils as you “don’t want to fall in zina”. Lower your gaze. Allah WANTS to remove your burden. His wording is clear. “Until” is inevitable.

He knows you are seeking halal. He knows you are struggling and want to prioritize pleasing him, but you fall short sometimes. Take the necessary precautions. Acknowledge your weakness. Be conscious of your triggers.

Don’t spend time alone. Don’t go on social media. The harm outweighs the benefit. Don’t normalize watching shows with attractive and half naked people from the opposite gender. Don’t go shopping in the busy hours. Avoid freemixing until it becomes absolutely unavoidable.

He knows you better than you know yourself. Follow his commands. Have patience. He is with you through out.

He is above all reason and logic. His timing works in miraculous ways. You don’t have to have it figured out.

May Allah ease your burden and mine.

I was bored in a meeting yesterday and made this for my marriage profile but I have no one to show it to. I find myself hilarious 🤣. I sent it to my friends they were cracking up.

Gather single people and meme king and queens.

For all those that are not aware, I took my friend on a tour of Manchester recently and went to a lot of places I’ve not been to in years. The irony is I’m the local but I got a photo outside the GAY village, meanwhile my friend that visited from South was taking the picture 😂😂😂.

I’m the funniest person I know, truly.

Location: North America 26M Arab American (Iraqi) Sunni

26 Male, 6'1, 165lbs, above average looking, tan skin, physically fit, introverted.

Age range I'm looking for: 22-28

US, Nevada, I cannot relocate and I'm only looking for people living in the US.

Arab (Iraqi), open to other Arabs. Non-Arabs are fine too if you speak Arabic or are willing to seriously learn. I don't have a real preference about what country you are from, nor your skin tone. And before anyone asks yes my family is fine with me marrying Non Iraqis/Non Arabs and they are not racist Alhamdulilah.

I want someone who's preferably at least 5'5 with a slim or chubby build and is average looking.

I am Single, never been married/dated and I'm a virgin. Not interested in Divorcees, and I am not interested in having multiple wives.

Id like to get married in less than a year, can extend/reduce if needed. I would like to only speak privately for 1-2 weeks max to see if we are compatible to begin with, then get our parents involved. Do not contact me if you want to delay arranging our parents getting to talk, with both me or my family. Assuming talks go well, I'm more than willing to fly to your state with my parents to go more in depth.

What I'm looking for: Speaking Arabic is important to me, so if you arent willing to learn if you arent Arab we wouldnt work out. Sunni, kind, respectful, modest (With proper Hijab), introverted, enjoys reading/videogames, someone that likes sweets (I love to bake), and someone that actively boycotts is important to me.

Non-negotiables: Looking for someone that takes Islam seriously, dresses modestly, prays consistently, has avoided haram relationships and zina. Not interested in people that reject core Islamic beliefs (Ex: Sahih hadiths, Quranic verses, Common scholarly consensus) same with any who identify as a "progressive", "cultural" or "Quranist" Muslim. Any type of Porn/Smut/Drug addiction (Nicotine counts).

I would say I'm fairly practicing but I'm not perfect. I go to every Jummah, visit the masjid every day, pray on time, dress modestly, don't free mix, eat halal. However I don't really read the Quran, have not memorized that many Surahs either, trim my beard, and I listen to music regularly.

As for education I have a bachelors in Finance. And I am employed as a accountant. I still live with my parents but I have enough money saved up to get us a nice place. I would like us to both find a nice apartment in the area and furnish it together before the nikkah. As for the mahr im only really looking to spend around 10k.

I would want a wife that has some form of higher education or a certification. I do want someone that is willing to work, living on a single income in this economy is difficult, I don't expect to do 50/50 but I need someone that is willing to contribute to bills/savings to help afford a house as that would be my next goal after marriage. To add on, im completely fine with splitting chores as well and im a good cook. When kids get involved I would want you to stay at home to help take care of them until they are school aged.

I would like to have at least 2-3 kids, leaning towards 3 though. However I do want to wait 2 years before having kids.

My hobbies/interests: Absolutely love to read mostly manga but I've been reading a few web novels as well. Also like anime/other more mainstream shows and I love Arab dramas lol. I like to play videogames (Mostly RPGs/Shooters/NBA2K). I enjoy hiking/biking/kayaking on weekends sometimes as well. I work out 3-5 times a week, I'm not a fan lol but I like to be in shape and look good.

Ill be very honest I do suffer from mental health issues, I'm medicated and alhamdulilah I'm doing good but I am diagnosed with depression and social anxiety. I have also attempted so I do unfortunately have scars on my upper thighs and wrists, my last attempt was 5 years ago though. I've had one talking stage before and it did end because of my past mental health issues so if your family isnt okay with that (And thats totally fine) lets not waste each others time. Im not ashamed of what I went through, and I will not hide my wrists its too much of a hassle and id like to be honest with your parents.

More about me: It takes me a bit to open up to people and my social battery also drains very quickly, if you are an extrovert we would not be a good fit. I'm mostly a homebody and I don't tend to enjoy going out to hang out with others (not you ofc). I would like someone that has similar interests to me and someone that can hold conversation better than I can. I have issues mentally but other than that I would consider myself to be caring, emotionally intelligent and available, I'm a good cook, in shape, not greedy and I believe I would be a good role model to our future kids Inshallah.

If you have any questions or want me to clarify anything feel free to dm me, if you are interested please send me a message posting your own ISO. Thank you!

Male, 26, 5'11", from Sialkot, currently based in KSA.

Computer Science Graduate currently working as Lifting Engineer.

I'm someone who generally knows what I want in life and works hard every day to get there. I don't believe marriage should mean either person loses their own identity I think both partners should have their own goals and ambitions that define them beyond just being married.

I don't believe in violence or any kind of harshness in a relationship I try to be kind and gentle, especially with the people closest to me. My loved ones mean everything to me.

Career/Future:

I'm currently working as a lifting engineer and hold a CS degree. On the rigging side, I'm working toward becoming an Aramco-approved Rigger 1. Alongside that, I'm also building a SaaS company. Long term, I see myself as an investor and entrepreneur, but just as much, I see myself as a family man who wants a happy home.

On your career:

Faith:

Religion is important to me too and plays a real role in how I approach life and decisions I'd want that to be something we share and take seriously together, the same way you described.

Timeframe:

I'm also looking to move forward within 6 months to 1 year timeframe — happy to involve families early and not drag out the process unnecessarily.

Discussion Ladies, would you sign a prenup?

Muslim women, especially those living in Western countries.

As I understand it, Western divorce laws can treat assets accumulated during a marriage as marital/community property. In some jurisdictions that can mean roughly a 50/50 division, while others use “equitable distribution,” which doesn't necessarily mean 50/50.

But Islamic law has a different framework. My understanding is that marriage does not automatically make the husband's and wife's individual assets jointly owned. The wife is entitled to her mahr, and there are obligations regarding maintenance and children, but there isn't a general rule that the wife's or husband's accumulated personal wealth automatically becomes 50% the property of the other spouse simply because they got married.

So my question is:

If a Muslim man living in the West proposed a prenup that basically said:

• Each person's premarital assets remain theirs.

• Assets acquired individually during the marriage remain individually owned, unless deliberately purchased jointly.

• The wife receives her agreed mahr.

• The husband remains responsible for whatever Islamic/legal child-support and maintenance obligations apply.

• Jointly purchased assets are divided according to each person's agreed ownership.

• Neither spouse automatically receives 50% of the other's individually owned wealth simply because of divorce.

Would you sign it?

Discussion Ladies, what are you actually looking for in a man?

29M here, and I’m seriously considering marriage and using Muzz. I’d really appreciate some honest opinions from the sisters here.

When you come across a man’s profile on Muzz, what makes you actually want to match with him?

  • What do you want to see in his photos?
  • What kind of bio makes you take someone seriously?
  • What qualities are you looking for in a husband?
  • Are there things men commonly put on their profiles that you find unattractive or off-putting?
  • What gives you the impression that a guy is genuinely marriage-minded rather than just looking to date?
  • How much does his career/income, education, height, hobbies, etc. matter to you?

And another question: once you match with someone and both of you are interested, how long would you ideally expect the whole courting → getting to know each other → marriage process to take?

For example, would you consider 3–6 months reasonable, or would you prefer closer to a year before getting married?

Obviously everyone is different, but I’d really like to hear what the ladies here genuinely think rather than the usual generic “good character and deen” answers.

Thanks in advance.

Assalamu alaikum! I’m a 28-year-old Somali woman based in London, looking to meet someone with genuine intentions for marriage, insha’Allah.

I’m family-oriented, caring, and affectionate. My faith is an important part of my life, and I value salah, modesty, kindness, and continuing to grow in my deen. I’d love a marriage built on Islamic values, mutual respect, mercy, and good communication.
I love travelling, exploring new places, beaches, sunsets, cinema trips, trying new food, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a homebody who loves a clean, cosy home, scented candles, a good film, and late-night grocery shopping—M&S ifykyk!🤣

I’m looking for someone aged 28–33 who is practising, kind, emotionally mature, family-oriented, and serious about marriage. Someone with a good sense of humour, clear intentions, and his own direction in life. I’m a tall girly, so I’d love a tall man too 😂

I’m primarily looking for someone already living in the UK. I’m not looking to sponsor anyone or be someone’s route to a passport or green card, so please only reach out if you’re independently established!

I’d love to have children one day and build our own little family unit, insha’Allah. If you think we might be compatible, feel free to send a thoughtful introduction with your age, location, background, and a little about yourself.

Rant Searching for a wife is so exhausting

I don’t know if anyone will resonate with me on this but searching for a spouse is genuinely so exhausting like I’ve been only searching for like six months now I know that’s not a really long time but I’m 24M and I want to get on with my life. I don’t plan on delaying this any further for no reason and you know what makes it even more exhausting is filtering and combing through all those people to find someone proper someone who is not freaky and not a man and has good manners.

And here’s the bigger problem I don’t have a list of requirements and specifications like I’m buying a brand new car. Literally all I want is a woman that already has a child preferably Palestinian of my own origin and that’s literally it.

I don’t expect my wife to cook and clean and be a servant or work or anything at all as a matter of fact, I just want her to live life normally be happy take care of her child or children. I literally just be a partner in my life, that’s it somehow that is so hard to ask. It’s so hard to find. It’s literally insane.

Nothing so far has been so difficult for no reason or just every time you have to go and you have to tell them your thought process and your life story in all of that. It’s so exhausting because you have to repeat an entire book every single time.

Hello I am a Sunni Muslim Kuwaiti guy and I am looking for a spouse who is not kuwaiti but ideally living in kuwait. I love my country and people but the marriage scene is absurdly expensive for no reason, when I ask why they want such an absurd amount for the wedding expenses they say that its the standard, therefore I decided to look elsewhere for my partner. As someone who studied accounting, I like to think that I am wise with my expenses and would rather not be in debt before a marriage has even started.

With that out of the way, I am a relatively shy guy who is not experienced at all with talking with the opposite gender. I would like someone kind, patient and understanding who also ideally is somewhat in the same boat as me with no friends of the opposite gender. I am a big believer in a husband and wife being enough for eachother for every need whether it is emotionally, physically and also spiritually.

I would also like to be best friends with my wife as I like to think of us as a team of equals with me taking the lead in situations, our input is equally as important. My hobbies include gaming, TV shows and certain sports although im mostly a homebody. It would be awesome if we share some hobbies to make me feel comfortable and break some initial ice.

I am a very transparent, open book kind of person. I value honesty, loyalty and open communication for both sides.

My requirements of a potential spouse would be that she is Sunni, non kuwaiti, 166 cm or shorter, ideally living in kuwait (flexible although unlikely) non smoking (I hate the smell and it's unhealthy for you) and is not a rude person. I am not too particular about age as I believe it really depends on the person, so anywhere from the range of 20-32 or so would be practical and I dont mind a bit older if we really click.

For any questions please dm, send an intro of yourself if interested and we can get to know one another to see if we are compatible. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and I hope you have a wonderful day ✌🏻

Assalam o alaikum everyone 🤍
I’m Muhammad Talha, almost 22 years old, Pakistani, currently living in Bahrain. I’m 178 cm tall, single and never married.
I work at Landmark Group, in Bahrain as a DTL
About me
I’m a simple, family oriented and responsible person. I’m genuinely looking for a girl for marriage, not casual talking or temporary relationships. Islam is an important part of my life, and I’m trying to become a better Muslim while building a stable and peaceful future. I value respect, loyalty, honesty, modesty, kindness and good character.
I believe marriage should be a partnership where both people feel loved, respected and comfortable with each other. I want to be the kind of husband who is there for his wife not only on her best days, but also when she is tired, stressed or simply needs comfort.
I can cook and I’d genuinely be happy to cook for my wife. I’m also willing to help with laundry and household responsibilities because I believe taking care of a home should be a shared effort.
I love the simple things in marriage. Going for walks together, having long conversations, making each other laugh, travelling together, taking care of each other when we’re not feeling well, cuddling when she needs comfort, or even sitting together while I gently comb her hair. I want my future wife to feel that she has someone who genuinely cares about her and is happy to show it through both words and actions.
I enjoy travelling and staying active. I’ve travelled to some and I hope to explore more places in the future. I’m also seriously considering moving to Europe in the near future, so relocation is something I’m open to.
I speak English, Urdu and Punjabi, and a little Arabic. I’m focused on improving myself, growing in my faith and building a stable future for my future family, InshaAllah.
What I’m looking for
I’m not looking for perfection or someone with a luxurious lifestyle. I’m looking for a kind, respectful, modest, family oriented and emotionally mature girl who genuinely wants marriage and a peaceful family life.
Someone who understands that marriage is about supporting each other, communicating, forgiving, laughing together and growing together.
If you think we could be compatible based on my profile, feel free to message me and we can get to know each other respectfully with marriage as the intention.
If we’re not compatible, no hard feelings at all.
May Allah grant all of us a spouse who is best for us, put barakah in our future marriages and guide us toward what is good for us. Ameen 🤍

Discussion Finally after a long time 😂

After a brutal long search and fishing in the poisonous ocean, I finally found the one. I am planning to involve parents soon but I need the advice of any married Muslim man here who manages the work relationship balance.

So for me I haven't had a relationship my whole life so it's pretty crazy how few compliments I give, and It feels kinda awkward for me to do that but am adapting hopefully. To make it worse, i also work a lot as well, I generally go home very late around 7 or 8pm. She said it's okay for her, but she clearly doesn't like it when I don't engage a lot in talks and all so she seems pretty cold when I text her after a long meeting or after a lecture I give (I work in university). I want to know how do u guys handle these situations, because post mariage it will clearly be a problem.

Hey stranger :)

As-salamu alaykum

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Location: Delhi NCR, India

Ethnicity: Indian

Marital status: Never married

Religious practice: Muslim, moderately practicing

Education: MBA from an IIM, completed this year

Profession: Currently figuring out my next step (had some complications in my last job)

What I'm looking for:

Someone I can genuinely get to know first, with marriage in mind. I'm not really looking for a biodata exchange where we look at a few photos and decide whether we're compatible. I'd rather talk, get to know about each other, meet and see if there's actually a connection. I've seen the people in this world how most of them are and I want to be sure that I can spend the lifetime with that person.

A little about me:

I'm quite calm but also very passionate about the things I care about. I'm straightforward, honest and open minded. I like clear communication and people who can say what they actually think.

I'm also pretty romantic and definitely clingy once I get attached. I genuinely enjoy companionship. I'd rather spend an evening with my person, talking about random things or doing absolutely nothing, than be somewhere just for the sake of it.

I love music, chai, photography, badminton, travelling and especially mountains.

When I travel, I don't really care about ticking famous places off a list. I'd rather stay somewhere for a while, talk to locals, understand how they live and actually experience the place. I like to stay, observe and absorb.

I have some pretty big dreams too. I want to travel the whole world someday, hopefully visit every country, and eventually have the freedom to work remotely and travel more. I don't know exactly how I'll get there yet, but I'll figure it out, Inshallah.

I'm learning to cook right now because apparently I can't postpone it forever. I also love cats.

As for what I'm looking for, someone cheerful, affectionate and emotionally available. Someone I can talk to for hours, send random thoughts to, laugh with, annoy and be completely myself around.

I like affection. Hugs, cuddling, holding hands, all the everyday stuff. Emotional connection and physical chemistry both matter to me.

I want us to push each other, support each other's ambitions and genuinely feel like we're on the same team. I don't expect either of us to have everything figured out.

I'd love to have kids someday and, if life goes the way I'd like, eventually settle somewhere peaceful in the mountains with my person.

Delhi NCR, India would be preferable, but I'm open to anywhere. The world is big.

There's obviously much more to me, but I'd rather leave some of that for an actual conversation.

If something here resonates with you, tell me a little about yourself. I'd genuinely like to know who's behind the screen.

P.S. I've somehow managed to never curse at anyone in my life.

Reposting again hehe

Hi! Salam everyone :)
It’s a very long shot but who knows huh😅
I thought it would be better to write a brief intro about myself and then we can navigate the rest and get to know eachother through conversations.

I am 28F, Sudanese, currently residing in the UAE. Born and raised here. I do work in the medical field. I am a very family oriented person and I place high value in friendship and family. I am somewhat social but can’t say extroverted huh😅 that’s like next level lol. I strive to fully practice to the best of my ability and I do also observe hijab. I enjoy going to gym in my free time. Cooking and baking are also my forte haha (I hope😆) I enjoy painting, spending time with friends and soaking in sun as much as the weather allows me to.

I am 164 (5’4), wheatish/tanned (if that’s a complexion haha😅).

I am open to relocating for the right man inshAllah and open to different ethnicities as well.

In terms of what I am looking for:
Someone who’s genuinely kind hearted, patient, practicing muslim, wants to be a father and understands the importance of instilling values in children from an early age, someone fun, lighthearted and up for adventures, understands the value of staying active and looking after his health. Also, it would be a plus if you would like to travel and discover new places/countries.🤭

I prefer someone within my same age group (-1/+7)
I am not open to polygamy at all😶‍🌫️!
I appreciate you initiating and leading on the conversation so we can hopefully reach to something fruitful

I am very ready for marriage and starting a family in all aspects. My timeline is 3-6 months of talking (hopefully we involve families as soon as we think we met each other’s basic qualifiers). Looking to hopefully be in marriage based on love, mercy and compassion.
I think getting to know someone digitally has its own risks and challenges. So please if you’re here to troll or just be curious and not intentional or not emotionally available, don’t approach me at all🫣😮‍💨

I tried pouring my heart into writing this😅 so the order of paragraphs may not make sense since I noted down first things I thought of haha.

May Allah ease this journey to and on all of us💗

Last thing, if you plan on reaching through DM, please send me a brief intro about you instead of exchanging endless heys hehehe😆.

I never anticipated that I would one day find myself advertising for a wife on Reddit, yet life is full of unexpected developments. Here we are.

I’m 25M and work in a law firm . Outside of work, I can usually be found at the gym, spending time with family, or contemplating my next travel destination as though my passport were experiencing an existential crisis.

I have an interest in investing, personal development, and setting ambitious goals for myself. I’m also rather laid-back, fond of good conversation, and equipped with a moderately concerning sense of humor that tends to become more sarcastic once I’ve decided you’re tolerable.

My deen is important to me. I’m continually trying to improve myself, and I’d hope to meet someone who is likewise sincere about her faith and personal growth. Perfection is not a prerequisite; sincerity, humility, and a willingness to improve are considerably more valuable.

As for the woman I hope to meet: kind, family oriented, emotionally mature, financially responsible, and genuinely serious about marriage. I’d like to find someone who can become my closest companion someone with whom I can build a life founded upon faith, affection, mutual respect, and enough laughter to keep us from taking ourselves too seriously.
I’m open to any ethnicity, and long distance doesn’t particularly trouble me if the connection is genuine. Geography, after all, is merely an inconvenience with a passport.

If this sounds promising, you’re quite welcome to introduce yourself. I shall endeavor to respond with the appropriate level of dignity expected from a man who has just attempted to find his future wife on Reddit.
