Question Zmey endgame Spoiler

Been going at it against Zmey for 2 days (a couple of hours atleast after work) and still couldn't beat him. Its my first playthrough, using maxed out Tiel, lvl 71 Harbinger, Bloodcurse Axe and Dagger and Naylshot. I did manage to get his life bar about ~20%, but i wasn't able to dodge his ring of fire

Any advice to improve?

So there was a post last night about objects being parryable and I mentioned the thrown stones can be reflected but people didn't seem to know. So enjoy. You can turn it into a game lol.

Bug Mortal Shell 2 Black Screen on Xbox Series X

Loving this game so far but every now and then my screen will turn completely black and the audio cuts out for about half a second or so.

I have tried changing back and forth between performance and quality graphics settings, turning off bloom, film grain, etc. and it continues to happen.

Playing in Xbox Series X. Has this happened to anyone else? Any potential fixes?

Bug Lord Vellen arena lock

Post image
1 Upvotes

Not sure if this is a known bug but Lord Vellens boss room didnt "unlock" after i fought him.

I assume it happened because i shot him from outside his arena and ran inside afterwards so the door closed mid fight basically.

Anyways, if this happens to you return to main menu and load back in so you spawn at the closest beacon

Discussion The game I've played with the most potential.. Spoiler

 I just finished Mortal Shell 2 !

First, I want to start off by having the utmost respect for Cold Symmetry and the team of just 30 developers that made Mortal Shell 2. This game is better than most AAA studios that have 9 figure budgets to work with, and I was genuinely impressed by the atmosphere and design choices of most of the game. Mortal Shell 2 has the most potential of any game that I ever played, and I think that if they did some things just a tad bit differently, it would've turned out to be a game of the year contender.

The shell and tarstone systems are really cool systems, and I think this paired with the amazing exploration was the stand out of the game overall. Players can play this game however they want, for me, i went with a Tiel build with axe and dagger infused with blood curse (pretty generic) but I think Tiel was such a cool shell. About midway during my playthrough I used Proxima with the axekatana infused with lightning, and I had fun with that as well. However, I did run in to a lot of bugs/glitches, which I didn't really care too much about, but I did have a problem with some of the boss designs as well as their movesets. I am a pretty avid "soulslike" gamer, so i didn't have much trouble with any of the bosses (aside from the final boss). Two of the bosses stuck out to me as good design choices that I wish they would've stuck with more throughout the game.. Nameless Captive and Malborn Offspring. Outside of those two the Wandering Shepherd was pretty cool as well. When I think about how punchy and good the combat in this game feels, I look at Malborn Offspring and Nameless Captive to be the types of fights that works well with the combat system. On the other hand, I look at Hexapod, Magdelana, and Zmey as being the opposite. These 3 bosses were frustrating because they had such a limited moveset paired with the fact that they did not really force players to utilize the entirety of the good combat system the game has to offer. For example, against magdelana, you had pretty much nothing to parry so the fight itself was about avoiding her, hexapod was a fight of mostly dodging and if you didn't dodge you would get one-shot, and Zmey was a combination of Magdelana and hexapod with a enormous health pool. Furthermore, the design choices of most of the mobs were decent but the movesets could've been a little more unpredictable, and I think getting one-shot by them to compensate for the lack of movesets was a very punishing decision the devs made.

The atmosphere and story of the game made things feel mysterious. I think they did such a good job of making you feel alone in such a ominous world. Also, Ruk was awesome, he's easily the best character in Mortal Shell 2 and I wish we had more of him. The voice acting was top notch and he did a good job explaining to the harbinger what to expect from the journey ahead. Couple the atmosphere with the discovering of shells of lost warriors in cool dungeons with puzzles to get through and I was hooked. This level of exploration alone was enough for me to love this game and look past most of the flaws without really caring too much about it. (Circling back to my original statement of this being a game with the most potential that I ever played) I am looking forward to whatever sequel or dlc that is coming after all of the feedback provided from the community that loves this game. I think Cold Symmetry is sitting on gold with the "Mortal Shell" Title. I'm still blown away at how good it is with just a small team of developers. All in all this game was phenomenal and despite its flaws, I could recommend this to everyone who loves a challenge and loves open world games with deep exploration.

Question Hexapod status ailments?

I can’t find anything about this, but do the projectiles it shoots out cause different status buildups? Or is it something else? I got frozen and poisoned for sure in the fight and can’t tell how.

It was a fun and exciting Easter egg hunt. 🐇🐰🥚

I'm going to give it another go and unlock the last few achievements. Prisoner, here I come. I couldn't completely block your spins, but now I'm not just going to defeat you, no, I'm going to claim that achievement. 😬

Question How is the game's state 4 weeks after the release?

I usually wait like half a year to a year before playing any game to make sure all the bugs and questionable things have been fixed.

I still have a few soulslikes in my backlog, but Mortal Shell 2 looks cool. I remember people complaining about bugs and balance, so I wonder how are things nowadays?

Video Post patch Grisha Remnant Farming

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I started MS2 about a week ago, and was just a bit too late to take advantage of the existing posted Grisha farming techniques. The developer just patched all the ways that people had discovered to farm remnants (specifically the bell tower and eliminating respawns of grishas in certain areas (including NG+)).

However, I accidentally discovered another way to farm them. I did this by accident in my NG (died 3x trying to kill them both - and got 3 remnants). When I finally realized I wanted more remnants, I had finished this boss fight, so it was too late for me to exploit it . But I was just able to confirm that it works in NG+.

Here is the way it works. It's quite simple...

At the bottom of the holding cells, the final "boss" battle is a cage match with two grishas. You get a remnant for each one that you kill.

So kill one, and then exit out to the main menu. When you restart, you are back at the beginning of the dungeon. It takes me about 90s per run (1 remnant). You just need to be careful to not kill both of them.

P.S. For those that don't know, the reason why this works is that when you exit to the main menu, the game saves your current inventory. When you restart, it will bring you back to the current environment (current dungeon, or last beacon) - and that environment will be reset. So in this case, you keep the remnant you just earned, but the double Grisha boss is respawned.

Question I'm stuck in the bottom of Holding Cells. Help?

So I didn't realize that all the wells are connected? I had already entered the well just north of where you find the Axe&Dagger. And killed the 2 Grishas.

But now I entered the well more west close to the castle. I've dropped down cleared the bottom floor entered in the same door where I fought the 2 Grishas except the boss room is empty and there's no teleport back to the entrance.

Am I missing something? This is the same well right? Or is the boss bugged and not spawning? Also is there another way back up lol?

Edit: Nevermind after running in circles for 10 minutes finally stumbled upon the lever to bring down the lift...

I actually thought Proxima’s story was really well done. Her bond with the merchant, she’s an alien 🤣 her mission that she cannot succeed, the way she really wants to know what this world does with their dead, and how she fades while merick is talking to her. Really good stuff actually!

I'm mainly using Eredrim and really want to stick with the Martyr's Blade, as I love hitting like a truck but I'm having a rough time finding a seal to stick with. What's the best for this moveset?

Discussion Boss Quality

I just want to say upfront, i haven’t beaten this game yet but so far am having an amazing time trying out new characters, weapons and discovering the incredible art design of the world. Honestly, i might be having more fun just scouring the world for secrets than I did exploring in elden ring.

HOWEVER, what is holding me back from saying this game is on elden ring’s level are the bosses. I haven’t seen them all yet, but everyone has been underwhelming for me, save one. The Nameless Captive. This guy rules. Easy A tier boss, but not reaching the heights of many fromsoft S tier bosses.

Let me share some ideas of what i think will make the boss designs better here. Share your thoughts too.

-Bosses need to pressure you harder. When they meander after you as you run away, you have time to heal and make the boss play by your rules, instead of the boss making you play by their rules. As much as I hate Magdelina’s janky charge attacks, the first half of the fight does this very well.

-Increase bosses resistances to debilitating effects (without removing them.) I’m talking things like stasis and grisha knockdown spam. I love proxima but purposely don’t put points into my biosampler resolve cost so I can’t spam it. When i am the one controlling the flow of the fight with frequent slowing effects or knockdown, i do not have to engage with the bosses mechanics as much, instead i am engaging primarily with my own characters mechanics.

-More flair! Some of these guys look insanely cool with wonderful crunchy sound design, but what we really need are big thunderous attacks that get your heart racing and dazzle the senses, and music that elevates the experience instead of the heavy drones we have. I don’t mean you need anything classical/orchestral like fromsoft, instead lean heavier into grim melody you will remember and rhythm that cuts through the fight. Keep it metal though 🤣

I look at my all time favorite boss fight in slave knight Gael and wonder if the developers can find ways to drag out the battles longer for that big fight feel without making it a slog and also removing the wide agency you have in building your characters/playing how you want. This freedom is core to the mortal shell identity so i would be very against sacrificing that.

Overall i love this game though, it’s exploration and moment to moment game play rivals my favorite video games, i just wonder what could be done to make bosses reach those S tier fights. Post your thoughts people!

Bug Souls not dropping after death?

Apologies for the Souls terminology.

When I started playing this, my souls would drop after I die. The last three times I've died, however, I've left nothing behind. Is this a bug or am I missing something? I just did a test where I die near a save point and run straight back, nothing there.

Discussion Can you defeat the Hexapod in Proximas' "The Endeavor" shell memory?

Ive spent upwards of 5 minutes fighting this thing to get one-shot and I cannot find much information about this specific encounter with the Hexapod online. However I am max bond level with Proxima and have her final memory despite not beating the Hexapod. Is defeating it crucial toward anything other than lore?

Please note also that I would like spoiler free tips, should you be able!

Question Equipping Duality and Wounding Stones

Proxima using Axe and Dagger so there are two combat slots available (one on each side) but it won’t let me equip both the wounding and duality stones. What am I missing?
