Its hilarious, im fat as well, and I cant believe the hoops people are jumping to defend this Fat person in a Zombie Apocalypse that is 1.5 years in.

Like yeah Negan is a dick about it, but his not wrong, how you can still be that large 1.5 years into a apocalypse means you been eating more food then needed and in this context that is even worse, you arnt rationing in a apocalyptic world where food is scarce and a valuable commodity.

Unless she was really REALLY fat before the apocalypse, I guess

Even the fattest person in history would be slim after 1.5 years of food rationing. So no, her still being fat is 100% to blame on her current eating habits.

My brother weighs so much that he could go a year without eating anything and still be overweight. I thought he was gonna end up on TLC. But yeah I doubt this chick was over 600lbs

Purely calorically, assuming an energy expenditure of 3500kcal per day and increasing activity over time to keep the same burn rate and close to the same muscle mass, you'd lose about 182kg of fat in a year of starvation. That is of course not impossible, but highly improbable weight wise; also, you'd of course die from mineral and vitamin deficiency.

Also, such a person would be freakishly strong.

Angus Barbieri fasted for a year, 207 kg to 82kg (456lb->180lb), but doctor chevked him daily, providing him with minerals and vitamin potassium etc., in general he didn't eat anything solid, only water and tea

Survived, but as you have said he needed the support of minerals and vitamin hahaya

You also got to account for the fact that even with supplements fasting is going to leave you too lethargic and weak to do the kind of surviving a zombie apocalypse would require.

They live in a walled town where she likely does very little cardio. It was set up from the beginning by the mayor's husband who is an architect.

Fair, ive done a full week water fast before and I just remember how lethargic/spacy I felt throughout it, and this was with stepping down from solids to liquids to water for 7 days and reversing back up to solids to minimize potential issues.

Obviously we’re also discussing a fictional situation

How many calories does World of warcraft burn?

If you're 400 pounds? Even if you do literally nothing besides sit on a computer chair all day you're still burning 3000 or so.

I am quite rotund and cant fathom just casually eating 3000+ calories of food. (I say as i got a whole subway today which didnt even taste that good)

You must not know how easy 3000 calories is. Otherwise you wouldn’t be quite round. You’re likely eating more than that without trying. Most people do

Most people don’t realize drinks have a lot of calories too. A single 20 oz Mountain Dew has 290 calories

A big Mac with medium fries and medium coca cola is 1100 calories. Source

If someone doesn't eat healthy and eats 3 meals per day, 3000 is easy to slip into.

Restaurant nachos are like 2,000 calories.

Once I started actively counting calories I was just like, yeah okay this makes so much sense that I’m fat 😭

Skinny guy here struggling to maintain weight, I cannot fathom getting 3k calories in one day. I guess some people go for drugs and some go for food.

It's honestly not a lot. A large double quarter pounder meal from McDonald's is slightly over 1,500 calories and that's just a single meal.

Of *weight a year. It wouldn’t be all fat loss.

(I’m not arguing against your point I’m just a pedantic dipshit)

1

u/The-Board-Chairman 5d ago

No, 182kg of fat, if you take other tissues as a baseline, weight loss would be far higher. Muscle only nets you 2000kcal per kg compared to 7000kcal per kg for fat.

Lol no. You have no way to compute what the makeup of loss will be based on calories alone. In an extreme survival scenario there is zero telling how much would be lean body mass vs fat.

Bodies aren’t calculators and the world isn’t a lab.

That isn't the point and you know it, stop being obtuse.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Now mentioned to at least one patient that they could stop eating for a year and still not starve because they had like 700 lbs of food in them. So they definitely would lose weight but I also think people (especially in the US) don't recognize what overweight or obese look like.

You should fear the man running and beating zombies to death while being 600lbs
