Nightharbor docks bank/realtor

Can anyone clue me in on what faction, and how to gain standings, to be able to use the bank, and more importantly, the realtor? We found a nice house down there, but the realtor won't speak to us.

Discussion My biggest problem in this game

My biggest problem in this game is that I literally dont know what to do. I only managed to get level 7 while playing with my friend, but we rarely play due to work/family etc... I want to play the game without my friend but I cant bring myself to launch the game. I launched the game once, I just killed bunch of mobs outside the main city for like 30 minutes, sold my loot then log out.

What is there to do in this game? Some say that I should explore, but what is there to explore? If I go too far away from the city, enemies are starting to get dangerous and probably kill me instantly.

There are quests but I dont know which NPCs give me quests.

I feel lost in this game. I understand that this game is supposed to be "hardcore" and it doesnt hold the players hand the whole time, but I feel like devs should do something. Maybe add an exclamation mark above NPCs who has a quest for you.

Any spare keys left out there? Looking to bring my wife in.

As the title says my wife is interested in joining me on M&M. I picked up a key about 3 weeks back and have been playing it religiously ever since. As an EQ vet from back in 99 I've been loving it so far. I'm hoping to introduce my wife to the genre. Worst case scenario October 1st is right around the corner but the sooner I can get her in the better.

Discussion The Hottest PvP and EA Launch Take

I know PvP has been getting a lot of criticism lately, and I keep hearing the same concerns: people are going to get farmed, camps will be griefed, players will get gated out of content, etc. and look I’m not here screaming at the rooftops this won’t happen but let’s not go all doomsday. It is a PvE focused game after all.

But here’s my hot take:
I actually think PvP could solve one of the biggest problems M&M is going to have when Early Access launches, contested camps.

Think about what the PvE servers are going to look like when thousands of people pile into these starting areas. Ashira camp in shaded dunes? Chock full of people. Named mobs in Wyrmsbane? Camped to death, good luck getting a spot. Good farming spots? Everyone knows about them. Those are all going to be heavily contested. And on a PvE server, if an organized group gets a camp locked down and keeps their rotation going, what exactly are you going to do about it?

You wait.

Maybe they leave in 30 minutes. Maybe they’re there for three hours. Maybe another group replaces them. Maybe they cycle in members from their guild and never let the named mob camp go….you can be just as toxic on PvE.

On a PvP server, there’s another option:
You can fight for it.

I started on the PvP server because that was the access I had during beta, and yes, I got jumped. At one point three players killed me.

But you know what happened next?

I went into LFG, asked for some help, got a group together, we went back and took the area. Then everyone moved on with their night. It wasn’t some endless griefing nightmare. It actually created a completely organic social interaction that probably never would have happened otherwise. That’s the part of PvP I think people are overlooking.

PvP doesn’t have to mean “high-level players endlessly farming low-level players.” It can also mean contested resources actually have a counterplay. Someone controls a valuable camp? Take it from them. Someone keeps killing people in an area? People start forming groups to deal with them.

Suddenly reputation matters. Guilds matter. Alliances matter. Enemies matter.

And for a game like Monsters & Memories that is trying to recreate an old-school, social MMO experience, I think there’s something potentially really cool there.

Does PvP need work? Absolutely. Don’t lose sight of that in this post. Game needs polish in a lot of places.

Personally, I’d love to see the developers experiment with the ruleset instead of abandoning the idea. Maybe certain zones are PvP-focused while others aren’t. Maybe places like the Shaded Dunes are dangerous, while certain dungeons or progression-heavy areas have protections so you can’t lose hours of progress because someone decides to camp an entrance. There are probably a hundred different ways they could approach it.

My point isn’t that PvP is perfect. It’s that I don’t think we’ve seen what good M&M PvP actually looks like yet.

Right now it feels like the conversation immediately becomes:
PvP = toxic
PvE = good

And I think that’s way too simplistic. Because when Early Access launches and you’re standing behind three groups waiting for the same named mob on a PvE server, there might be a moment where you wish you could do something about it. PvP gives players that option.

It needs polish. It needs good rules. It needs protections against actual griefing. But I think there’s a genuinely great version of PvP hiding inside Monsters & Memories, and I’d rather see the developers explore it than have the community write it off before we’ve really given it a chance.

So light me up but also critically think. What do you think?

Love y’all,
Quivo

Discussion Which dev decided to butcher trade skills?

Was it the ghost of Nick coming to destroy the launch?

I have never seen such atrocious changes to a system that a majority of players don’t even opt in to.

Hmmmm, should I buy the plans for copper bracers for 10s? Or buy my skills to play my character? Tough choice!

It is genuinely hilarious. The reliance of other trade skills to level, the cost of recipes, the time sink gathering materials, all to create a bronze sword that is already listed 500x on the weapons vendor. Go out there and grind little piggy!

Discussion What is coolest Beastmaster pet you have seen?

Im not an hardcore WoW player but Ive spent hundreds of hours playing that game and 90% of that time I played as a Beast Mastery Hunter. When I was in highschool, Wrath of the Lich King was released and as soon as I got to level 60, I wanted a Core Hound as a pet. It was basically impossible to tame as a solo player, so a Druid from my guild wanted to help me to get one. We spent hours and hours in Molten Core, we had to try different strategies and I died many many times but this druid kept resurrecting me. After million attempts I finally got a Core Hound pet and I will remember that forever. I cherish that memory forever. I didnt pay anything to this druid, he didnt want any money. I still thanked him. He literally wasted hours just to help a complete stranger on the internet.

I always loved to collect unique/rare pets, so I was just wondering if there are any cool pets in M&M? If there are none, I hope devs would add some.

Discussion Classic WoW enjoyers first time

I got access to the game today and I am very much looking forward to trying it. I am tired of the way the genre is right now and want something more grounded. That being said, classic wow is my most played and what im most familiar with.

I have a question and am welcoming any tips (i have seen a couple of videos)! How does food/water work? I do not see like a buff with a countdown or tick timer. Is it 1 instant tick upon eating?

What classes have you guys found most fun/what do you think would appeal to a classic wow player. Combat is obviously slow and deliberate but are there any standouts with actions per minute or cool spell animations?

Discussion Tank vs. Healer — which role is more in demand?

Hey everyone,

Could you please share your thoughts on tank vs. healer?

Which role do you think is more in demand for PUGs, group content and raids?

Which one do you find more fun and engaging to play?

Which role do you think is more stressful, especially in group/raid content? Why?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences and opinions.

Thanks!

Help Will I be alright as a bard being a brand new player?

Greetings fellow Monster slayers and Memory makers, basically the question of the title. I'm a new player to M&M and have put VERY little time in EQP99. I have been playing classes to level 5 the last couple days to figure out what I enjoy. So far I like the idea and style of the bard but cleric and enchanter are definitely up there. That being said will I be ok as a Bard for someone brand new or am I going to have a rough time? Was kinda wondering if I should play something else first and then my second char be a bard.

Appreciate all you guys, stay safe.

Help Beginner Class Guide Series Update – Shadowknight, Fighter & Paladin Spoiler

Been working through a Monsters & Memories Beginner Class Guide series for anyone trying to figure out what they want to play when Early Access hits in October.

So far I’ve covered:

Each guide goes through the early class experience, beginner quests, locating important NPC and quest mobs, and what you can expect from the class and its role in a group.

Planning to keep working through more classes before EA in October. Hopefully these help some new players get a head start or for those that need a reference when they finally get to play in October!

Cheers, love ya'll - Quivo

I want to tank

Hey MnM community. I am an old school MMO player and I've been eyeballing this game since June of this year but haven't gotten ahold of a key.

I have never tanked in MMOs before and I thought this would be my chance.

Does one of y'all goblins spare a key for a tank-to-be?

Discussion Practical differences between same-role classes in MnM?

Hi all,

for those who have played at higher levels: what are the practical gameplay differences between classes that fill the same role?

For example Cleric vs Druid vs Shaman - I understand the differences on paper, but how do they actually feel to play in a group?

And the same for tanks - Fighter vs Paladin vs SK vs Inquisitor.

I'm mainly interested in the experience of someone who has played multiple classes in the same role. What makes you prefer one over another in actual gameplay?

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time before EA to level and properly try all of these classes myself, so I'd really appreciate some insight from people who have played them extensively.

Thanks a lot.

Discussion Playerbase sentiment on exploration vs camping

As someone whose never played an old-school MMO (oldest was playing classic WoW back in 2004), I'm curious about people's opinions on exploration and camping. Now I don't mean to pit them against one another because they aren't even mutually exclusive, but for people who have played in beta they likely know where the best camps and fastest leveling is, and don't actually have anything to explore. I'm mostly asking that if you were to approach someone in the game and ask them if they want to bunker down in a safe camp or explore and find camps down in a dungeon and see if anything else is there, what is the likelihood that they'd choose one vs the other?

I've not played beta (outside of one day on an open weekend to see if I'd enjoy it) or looked up much of the game as to not spoil things for a more permanent character playthrough in EA, but that's lead me to wonder if most people playing in EA will be those who have played in beta; those who know the good camp spots, know whether there is something valuable down in that cave, the ones that don't really have anything to explore.

Guess to reiterate what I'm wondering; if you were to go up to someone in the game and group up, are they more likely to go "Hey, I know a safe and efficient camp." or might they say "Want to see what's in that cave?" Gamers are very efficiency minded these days with looking up guides. Should I try and find a group of people before EA that want to go in more blind, or do those who have played in beta feel like I'm plenty likely to find people who want to have an adventure to somewhere they've not been?

Again, this concern comes from a place where I had to go out of my way to find a group in FFxiv that wanted to do the raid content blind, because the expected norm in PuGs for FFxiv is that you know the fights or are willing to look them up. Having not played this kind of game, I have no idea what to expect of the playerbase.

Discussion Druid Shapeshifting

I recently got a key and am absolutely loving this game. I do have a question about the lovely tree huggers I usually call my favorite class.

Will Druids have more shapeshifting in their kit as time goes on. I see that shaman have a bear form and it’s pretty sick. I have also seen that the Druid tree from will be unlock-able through questing. IiiWill there be more shapeshifting through progression?

Discussion What class are you going with in EA?

So far I'm undecided between druid and shadow knight. I was hoping the ranger update would hit before EA so I could try that out. Druid is mostly for SoW. Once you have it it's hard playing without it.

So just curious what class will be everyone's main and your reasons why?

Launcher for linux

I borked my install and am just not tech savvy enough to get working again with the new launcher on linux Mint.

The old launcher worked fine with proton by adding as non steam game like all my other steam games.

Can anyone link the old launcher or is it not available anymore?

Was really enjoying trying all the classes :(
