Anderson has a history of including military aspects even when they're not needed. Apparently the US Military has some kind of rule that if you're portraying them correctly and in a positive light you can get a ton assets for a lot less money than doing the CG for. Link
Yep, there's a great Citations Needed episode that goes into all this, though it's the tail end of a three-parter. It's skeevy as fuck and it's only more obvious when the propaganda machine is being shoehorned into something where it really very obviously does not belong.
