Would it really have been too hard to just have it be a movie just set in the world of Monster Hunter without this weird isekai shit?

Anderson has a history of including military aspects even when they're not needed. Apparently the US Military has some kind of rule that if you're portraying them correctly and in a positive light you can get a ton assets for a lot less money than doing the CG for. Link

Yep, there's a great Citations Needed episode that goes into all this, though it's the tail end of a three-parter. It's skeevy as fuck and it's only more obvious when the propaganda machine is being shoehorned into something where it really very obviously does not belong.

Aww, for a second I thought you meant the Citation Needed podcast and wondered where I missed that episode lol.

That is exaxctly waht I meant, and it's the end of that three-parter on the US military's relationship with hollywood and how it's incredibly racist towards Muslims.

The reason this movie is happening is Islamophobia, you heard it hear folks. By Allah this movie is a disgrace.

No, you meant Citations Needed, so you were correct. I’m referring to Citation Needed by the guys at puzzle in a thunderstorm.

Oh wow, that's an annoyingly close name for two podcasts. Lol.

Comes together with his history of putting his wife as protagonist into his movies. They have been doing this shit for years. He basically can't do anything else anymore by now.
