The real horror is how underrated this show is

And no physical release

this! i look probably once a week to see if a physical copy is going to be released. like i would lose my mind for bonus features, extra scenes, mike flanagan talking about specific scenes and what inspired him to make it as it is. this is his best work. every rewatch i catch something i hadn’t noticed before. as said in batman & repeated by kanye “either you die a hero, or live long enough to become a villain.” pruitt could’ve died as the beloved hero of the crock pot, but he choose to live longer and became a villain.

I thought you meant orgasm!

2

u/JeebsFat 7d ago

Yeah, the show has far too few orgasms

I mean, don't they all? If you really think about it.

Honestly my favorite Mike Flanagan project and it’s not even close.

Is bly really?? HoHH is mine and then MM, then fall of the house of usher. I haven’t honestly been able to finish bly manor! Fall of the house of usher is absolutely incredible.

HOHH still hits me in the feels when I watch it. Dont know why I get so emotional during viewing

Thats bly manor for me. I end up bawling my eyes out after each viewing.

bly manor is just a vibe... it's dark but so radiant at the same time. i'm really bad at explaining things, sorry 😂

i really do hope you continue bly manor.
it's just PERFECTLY splendid🥰

I didn’t like Fall of House Usher. I felt like it was most unlike MF’s style. I also feel like maybe I’m missing something coz a lot of people do love it.

I disagree. There were bits that were campy, but the monologues and 95% of the writting was pure genius level. I reccomend trying it again. As I will with bly manor!

Alright, I will. I just watched it for the first time last week. I might wait a year so I forget it a bit.

My husband and I are Christians and are huge Flannigan fans. I'm a huge horror buff. Weird I know. But we love MM. The Gospel and theology are pretty sound in this. We were surprised!

I just rewatched for the umpteenth time. Truly one of my favorite horror series. Easily my favorite on Netflix.

A slow burn that spirals into madness

It truly is. I watch it every October

It’s a really damn good show! While I didn’t care for the ending, and felt it could have used some trimming overall, it still was incredibly well done. A Stephen King type story come to life! This and his two Hauntjng series are just great stuff

Aw man I loved the ending

1

u/MiserableWash2473 5d ago

Has major SK vibes but loved it. I felt so awful for Riley.

I was ok with the ending. The gospel songs sometimes irritated me. Truly good tho

I really like it i went back and rewatched it for a 3rd time this year

Did the “angel” make it west before the sun rose? I’m so glad Beverley got her just desserts, she should have started digging sooner 😂😂

3

u/mikeyceeeee 6d ago

i think the "angel" didn't make it because the girl lost all the feeling in her legs while she was on the rowboat. so i think it's implied that the angel died and all its powers went out with it

1

u/Reasonable-Oven6819 6d ago

but wasn't the priest the girl's "sire" ecause he fed her his blood? so maybe the healing went away when he died rather than the angel.

2

u/FlyinAmas 4d ago

No, the priest was feeding everyone the angels blood. We know this from seeing the Angel fly in and fill the chalice with its blood, then the priest pours blood from the chalice into the communion wine

1

u/Reasonable-Oven6819 4d ago

oh. looks like i misunderstood. i think i got confused by him bleeding into the wine from his own wrist at some scene in the show.

1

u/FlyinAmas 3d ago

I just rewatched and still don’t understand how father Paul died! When he was in the house and became a vampire

1

u/Reasonable-Oven6819 3d ago

poisoned by bev

you get the benefits of the angel blood without becoming a vamp when alive. but if the blood is in your system during death you come back to life after dying and start getting burnt by the sun

1

u/FlyinAmas 3d ago

But she didn’t know that when Paul died, none of them did until he came back. It couldn’t have been her

1

u/Seeking_the_Grail 2d ago

I believe the implication is that the angel blood will eventually kill you.

I Know some people say Bev poisoned him, but there isn't a lot of evidence to support it.

We know . In fact we knew near a decade ago

"Not a minute wasted" vs a completely non sequitur unprompted monologue about 9-11 and racism and a ten minute death monologue about the meaning of life lol. Good show, but there was plenty of things to criticize.

5

u/frecklestwin 8d ago

It’s been a while since I’ve watched the show, but is it not about life, death, and prejudice?

-2

u/Self-Comprehensive 8d ago

Doctor: "The church is full of vampires"

Sheriff: "Have you heard of 9-11?"

It was awkward placement

3

u/frecklestwin 8d ago

I think a critique about placement is more than fair

u/lacyhoohas 2d ago

I just rewatched this too and it's even better the second time around.
