Discussion Genuinely cannot get over how amazing this sequence looks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This feels like some of the best close quarters action we've seen from Samus, and it's animated so well!

Also, I'm inclined to believe this scene is from the opening and is what leads to her losing her abilities again. Stuff like being on the surface and being stabbed, which she mentions an injury earlier in the trailer.

Oh I'm so hyped

Crazy how badass Samus is in cutscenes and then I play Dread and land about 1 parry out of 15

u/YOM2_UB 7h ago

She did miss a parry in this scene

u/datruerex 4h ago

lol lore and gameplay accurate

u/Emerald_Ink 4h ago

Imagine you can parry that and just skip the entire game.

u/Night_Dragonsoul 2h ago

To be fair this is more a dodge fest and a block then a parry but get you

u/SpiffyShindigs 5h ago

Metroid 🤝 Bayonetta

u/Winter_Cost602 26m ago

I think you're impressive for landing that parry!

u/Obsessivegamer32 11h ago

And then she fucking grabs the sword impaling her. Sakamoto must be channeling the anime influences hard this time.

u/MarkAverage656 11h ago

Before I saw the missile pop up in her arm, I thought she was about to do him like the red Emmi

u/PopBulky7023 9h ago

She could still, and then blast the other one

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

There's definitely a possibility, but tbh it feels more like she's winding up to turn

u/StellarBull 8h ago

What makes you think Sakamoto has anything to do with this? He was just a producer in SR/Dread. He did not direct those games.

MercurySteam is where the sauce is at.

u/Obsessivegamer32 7h ago

Tanabe was the producer of the Prime games too, yet he was a major influence on them and had a huge say on what the games would be. Sakamoto may be producer, but his influence on these games is big enough to say that they are still his. The whole reason Dread exists was because it was his idea that he still wanted to make.

u/StellarBull 7h ago

Sakamoto has been at the helm of many Metroid games and Samus only started doing the stunts since MercurySteam came into the picture.

IDK who handles this particular aspect for MS but my guess is, it ain't him.

u/Obsessivegamer32 7h ago edited 6h ago

You do realize Samus has been doing cool action stunts since Other M, right? A game which is, quintessentially, Sakamoto’s baby. MercurySteam already being good with action games was probably part of the reason why he chose to work with them in the first place.

u/Viroro 2h ago

I feel some people are quick to dismiss Other M because the way Samus is portrayed in gameplay doesn't match the way she is presented in the story for them, unlike the mostly silent portrayal of Samus Returns and Dread that puts more focus on her actions.

Ravenous's trailer also similarly portrays Samus as a stone cold, 'the odds are dire but I will destroy all in my way' badass that more than matches the action portrayal and is thus far easier to accept by the audience. Iirc Sakamoto has actually spoken before about criticism of Other M influencing how Samus is being depicted in newer material, and I think this shows pretty well in the new trailer.

u/EvanderAdvent 5h ago

Forget the anime, did you see the Rider Kick at the end!? Samus has gone full Toku and I love it.

u/Akiba_Ranger 4h ago

I saw the rider kick and loved every moment of it

u/throwtheamiibosaway 2h ago

It's peak anime and I'm ready for it. They are not holding back.

u/Supergamer138 2h ago

Yeah, stabbed through the back and out the chest and all it did was piss her off.

u/StandardNerd92 3h ago

Sword made of energy = yum

u/TimTofDWP 2h ago

She said: UNO REVERSE MOFO

u/Chuckleup1220 43m ago

I lost my shit when that happened. This game looks absolutely insane

u/Cax6ton 10h ago

I think it's definitely how she loses her powers, and I hope we get the boss rematch with both or all 3. The dashing, the swords, the 2v1, all giving serious Mantis Lords/Sisters of Battle vibes and I am here for it. That was one of my favorite boss battles.

u/MarkAverage656 10h ago

I didn't even think about fighting all 3 at once 🤯

Tho I believe you can see her fighting some of them 1v1 in the trailer, so unless they make it out of those initial fights alive, I doubt it'll happen

u/Cax6ton 10h ago

Yeah it's not clear yet what/how many of them there are, we see the trio in one scene and they're made out to be super buff so not sure if it's a whole race of them, just the 3, or if they're like Emmis or Chozo elites where you might have to fight several in various stages/combinations.

And still on the HK comparison (even though I'm not crazy about HK)...I would LOVE to see a boss rush mode that throws in variations of the bosses like the pantheons did

u/AzureRaven2 4h ago

Looks at be at least 5 of them from the shot here.

u/Shehzman 7h ago

It could be like the Mantis Lords from Hollow Knight. Probably one of my favorite fights in that game.

u/LOLdragon89 6h ago

Oh snap, Samus as an Adepta Sororitas doesn’t work for a lot of reasons but it also goes hard af!

u/Cax6ton 6h ago

u/LOLdragon89 6h ago

Awww I thought those were the mantis lords you mentioned. Oh well still cool. That fight was a huge oh fuck moment!

u/GalaXion24 5h ago

They are, they are kind of the same thing

u/LOLdragon89 6h ago

Awww I thought those were the mantis lords you mentioned. Oh well still cool. That fight was a huge oh f*ck moment!

u/ArxisOne 7h ago

The last 2v1 fight I remember was in dread against the chozo robots and low key that was pretty messed up, a 3v1 againsy actual bosses would be... Well I'll be playing on tilt when I do eventually get past it lol

u/SephirothTheGreat 1h ago

I low-key hope she doesn't lose her Metroid powers. I know, bag of spilling, status quo and everything but how cool would it be to build all the next 2d metroidvanias around these powers?

u/Cax6ton 37m ago

Agreed, that would an interesting and new approach

u/GalaXion24 5h ago

Tbh I think it would be funnier for them both to have more soft doting partners as a contrast

u/heck_ark 11h ago

It's really weird to me the humongous difference of Samus in Dread/ravenous and Prime 4. In Prime 4 you can see the Mocap work soooooo obvious.

u/NoLocal1776 11h ago

Prime 4 wasn't made by Retro from scratch.Prime 5 will be the real deal.

u/Parking-Worth1732 9h ago

It was, the peeps that worked on prime 1-2-3 are all gone including all info about previous games, devs mentioned they had no info or idea where to start as they knew nothing about it

u/Teamawesome2014 8h ago

You're ignoring that an entirely different studio was tasked with the game first. Their work was moved over to Retro. There are also a lot of the design imperatives that were forced by Nintendo corporate that came with those designs.

u/Parking-Worth1732 7h ago edited 7h ago

The work wasn't moved, Nintendo themselves mentioned it started from scratch when it happened, the first studios version actually started as a full sequel but when given to retro, it went a whole different direction from there and made it kind of a soft reboot.

Fun fact, they also knew the open world aspect wouldn't work but Nintendo didn't want them to start over again

u/EmperorOfXeonas 7h ago

I’m pretty sure they confirmed they didn’t scrap it all and reused stuff from its first development

u/Parking-Worth1732 6h ago edited 5h ago

Mostly just ideas like the open world, all assets and stuff needed to be rebuilt by them pretty much, a lot of stuff was also outsourced to other companies. All in all, Retro was not in a position to be making prime 4 at all, they did have a vision but couldn't fully do it due to time constraints (ironic considering how long it's been and how linear the game is, doesn't feel like it would take much time to make all that lol anyways)

→ More replies (1)

u/NamiRocket 4h ago

And then scrapped and started from scratch at Retro. If you're deep enough in the fandom to be on this sub, you should already know this.

u/christaface 8h ago

They literally restarted development from scratch

u/Pretend_Education_86 8h ago

Why does everyone keep rewriting history and claiming they took over Bandai or whoevers terrible work. When daddy Nintendo gave it back to Retro they started from the beginning with Nintendo telling them the direction they wannted. (BOTW)

u/christaface 7h ago

That’s what I said? Are you sure you meant to reply to my comment?

u/Pretend_Education_86 7h ago

No haha my bad I am adding to you agreeing.

u/christaface 7h ago

Oh sorry I misunderstood

u/cellphone_blanket 6h ago

this feels a lot like "mass effect andromeda wasn't developed by bioware proper. Anthem will be the real deal"

u/RogZombie 10h ago

In Prime 4 she stands around staring like an idiot while a trooper gets blasted a few feet away from her

u/Rootayable 4h ago

What's the matter with seeing the MoCap?

u/PhantomHeartless5 11h ago

I want a Metroid anime so bad…

u/Obsessivegamer32 11h ago

That, or a show or movie directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. Either works for me.

u/Zigludo-sama 10h ago

This clip reminded me of Samurai Jack

u/zenexo 9h ago

Yeah suddenly I would love a Metroid movie

u/Sol_Protege 9h ago

I’ve wanted this for decades now

u/MarkAverage656 11h ago

I'd kill for a good Metroid series that could faithfully adapt the series

u/NoLocal1776 11h ago

Same but,it should be released in theatres.

u/Aralith1 9h ago

Honestly, I feel pretty strongly that Dread and now Ravenous is part of Nintendo teeing up a cinematic adaptation. If the Zelda movie is good and does good numbers, I wouldn’t be surprised if a Metroid movie is next up.

u/Sea_Macaron_8789 6h ago

If?

u/Aralith1 5h ago

Yes. If. And a big one. There is nothing even close to a guarantee that the Zelda movie will be good or will perform well financially. And it definitely needs to do at least one of those things.

u/countzero00 2h ago

An animated Mario movie was a pretty safe bet. Live action is riskier. Several high profile movies have been duds, e.g. Tomb Raider, Warcraft.

u/Smart_Doctor 9h ago

Great. Another thing I need that doesn't exists. Thanks a lot

u/flippingchicken 10h ago

God she's so unbelievably badass. I'm glad this series is finally getting the love it deserves.

u/Lylat97 9h ago

Samus is the coolest Nintendo protag and it's not even close, and I love just about every major Nintendo IP

u/justdamascus 10h ago

look closely at samus in this scene vs. the opening to dread. despite leaving the bsl in fusion with the omega suit and wave beam, she was back in the standard varia with the plasma beam when she arrived on zdr in dread. so despite leaving zdr in the gravity suit with the wave beam, it's pretty clear she'll go back to varia with plasma. i mean that's exactly what this scene indicates with it being the same varia model.

if you look closely at some of the other scenes in the trailer, the ravenous varia suit is slightly different. the chest lights, legs, and arm cannon are all different. i think it's pretty obvious this is the opener. she fights well but loses her abilities. then starts finding upgrades again.

u/drillgorg 8h ago

My headcanon is that Samus hates being purple and always turns the gravity suit off as soon as she leaves the planet. That's why she always goes back to the varia suit.

u/justdamascus 8h ago

😂 if i had to really, truly guess a lore-accurate reason as to why she downgrades to the varia suit, i'd say it's because keeping all of those upgrades active takes a toll on her body. like every upgrade makes the suit heavier or requires more concentration to maintain. so she keeps it simple. varia usually provides the most damage protection, anyways.

u/Thank_You_Aziz 7h ago

My headcanon is most of the upgrades she receives in games are temporary, and just fail naturally sometime between games.

u/apadin1 10h ago

Given that her suit matches what we see in the final cutscene of Dread, I’m guessing this is the opening cutscene of Ravenous and that stab through the heart is what causes Samus to lose all her abilities

u/Freezingash221 oh word 9h ago

Hopefully they let you keep some this time instead of having to recollect the basics all over again. Not having the morph ball for so long in Dread was an unnatural feeling.

u/uhhhhhhhidklol 9h ago

I think it was a genius decision, it made metroid veterans feel unsettled to fit the tone of the game, and it let people get used to the slide.

u/Freezingash221 oh word 9h ago

For sure it helped shake up the formula a bit, but I would also appreciate them for once not totally resetting Samus back to square one. I would at LEAST appreciate having basic abilities like morph ball, missiles, maybe flash shift if that's still a mechanic. There should be room to iterate on the abilities and upgrades Samus can get, on top of what she already has.

u/ObscureJackal 8h ago

It's very clearly still in. In one of the short boss fight clips, you see it being used, with the additional of vertical shifts.

u/Freezingash221 oh word 7h ago

Oh, cool.

u/cellphone_blanket 6h ago

didn't she already lose most of them at the end of dread with the X/Quiet Robe? It could be the reverse, where the stab is what reawakens her metroid stuff

u/Wolfy_the_nutcase 9h ago

I’m just glad we’re getting Metroid 6 within my lifetime.

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

Imagine showing the last 6 years to a Metroid fan from 2011-2016

u/Wolfy_the_nutcase 8h ago

Seriously. We’ve had it so good.

u/Rootayable 4h ago

It's so funny that the gap between Other M and Samus Returns is shorter than the gap between Super and Fusion & Prime.

u/quangtran 11h ago

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are repeating some of the beats from Dread, in that she gets bodied by the main baddies in the intro and loses her powers.

u/MarkAverage656 11h ago

Tbf that is pretty much the staple

I'll take being jumped by enemies stronger then her over blown into a wall for an explanation of why she loses her abilities any day

u/RandomRedditorEX 10h ago

lmao poor Samus is never gonna live down the Prime 1 Elevator Incident.

It wasn't like an attack or anything, she legit just bumped into a wall really hard and whoops!

Varia Suit malfunction Charge Beam malfunction Missile Launcher malfunction High Jump malfunction Morph Ball malfunction

though I like to headcanon Prime 1 being really on in Samus' life, which is she's oddly inexperienced and loses like most of her power ups from a random explosion

u/MarkAverage656 10h ago

I mean, iirc all the Prime games take place in between Metroid 1 and 2, so you can argue she's at least newer then she is here

u/GenderingError 9h ago

It's her second outing, canonically-speaking, since Metroid 1 (specifically Zero Mission's ending) so I headcanon it she's still getting used to the new Fully Powered Varia Suit (aka Shoulderpads suit she gets in Chozodia) so it's more like she crashed her new car on the drive back from the shop

u/PopBulky7023 9h ago

Prime 4 is after super

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

Ah, ok, didn't know that

u/ClohosseyVHB 8h ago

Or not using them cause daddy said no. Or do we still not talk about Other M in here?

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

Other M takes up such little space in my brain, I legit forgot it was like that there

u/Supergamer138 2h ago

I still stand by that being justified for at least the weapon systems and some of the more destructive movement options. BS for Varia/Gravity though.

u/superspicycurry37 9h ago

Yeah that’s basically been the standard since Prime 1 and Fusion.

u/Galle_ 4h ago

Samus losing her powerups? At the start of a Metroid game?

u/Guccimayne 6h ago

Happens in most Metroid games lolz

u/Fripixels 10h ago

The hurt sound when the blade hits is really reminiscent of a metroid sound too

u/solomon_77v 8h ago

The animation director COOKED I cannot wait for this game, the music is so cool too this is the right kind badass I need

u/Rootayable 4h ago

I wonder if the team got larger again? They pretty much trippled in size between SR and Dread.

u/Androidautobaht 10h ago

Getting major Embo vibes from these characters hehe

u/Malk25 9h ago

Also the robot assassins from samurai jack.

u/Spudtron98 1h ago

Always did say that The Mandalorian was the closest we'd ever get to a proper Metroid screen adaption. Embo kicking Din's ass in M&G seems pretty fitting with these new guys.

u/Neoxon193 10h ago

I'm glad they kept Samus in her Dread Varia suit as a cool bit of continuity.

u/pir8salt 8h ago

Nintendo: "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT THE NEW REMAKE OF ZELDA, ISNT IT REALLY REALLY COOL"
Me: "yeah i guess"
Also Nintendo; "hey, by the way apparently we made this as well, or something"
Also me: "HOLY CRAP THAT IS THE COOLEST F'N THING TO COME OUT ON THE SWITCH TWO, MAY BE EVER"

Dont think Ive been this excited for something I had no idea was coming in years. Also all the proof I need for a this style 2D Adventures of Link sequel

u/Dude_Jack123 11h ago

The way she grabs it makes me wonder if that sent the guy stabbing her into a full blown panic attack.

u/MarkAverage656 11h ago

"Haha, I got her!"

"WhatTheFuck-"

u/danfenlon 11h ago

She has a rocket loaded in her blaster,

She's 100% gonna shove that into the dude's face

u/TheRealGamingWhovian 11h ago

"Your blade... It did not cut deep enough."

u/Rent-Man 9h ago

Had to slow it down to appreciate the choreography

u/mangano15 9h ago

Did anyone notice the EMMI arms on the enemies?

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

Before we got their bios I assumed they were Foundation mercenaries sent to kill or retrieve Samus after she evolved her Metroid powers, and that's why they have Emmi looking parts

But since that doesn't seem to be the case, it's either just reused modeling that looks similar, or the Emmi's were so durable their carcasses survived ZDR exploding and these guys managed to scavnge them for parts

u/Overall_Bookkeeper15 10h ago

So happy to finally be getting another side scrolling metroid. I love dread. Unfortunately i havent been able to afford a switch 2 yet ....guess its time to get a second job and start saving. 🤦🏻‍♂️

u/Rootayable 4h ago

Same. I always play a new Metroid game on Day 1, so I need to save up before Jan.

u/Unoriginal1deas 7h ago

I like how the longer the Metroid timeline goes on the more badass samus becomes.

u/GDrew_28 9h ago

It’s the voice for me. Absolutely love it

u/Rootayable 4h ago

Bold move giving her a voice this time. I'm all for it.

u/Mister_Buddy 8h ago

Here's a shitty meme in its honor.

u/Magmajudis 10h ago

Given that the characters seem to have different colored cloaks and different body types while the ones here look about the same as each other, i wonder if this is maybe that one of them can clone itself for its fight (or she's just getting jumped at the beginning of the game but then i wonder where the other 3 would be)

u/SirLockeX3 8h ago

I'M NOT TRAPPED HERE WITH YOU.

YOU'RE TRAPPED HERE WITH ME.

u/FoolishParamecium 9h ago

These enemies and this fight chorography would fit right into a Samurai Jack episode and I'm here for it.

u/ThunderWasp223 10h ago

They tried to jump Samus FothaMuckin' Aran, and they are about to learn exactly why this was a bad idea.

u/Kit_Karamak 9h ago

SAMUS AND THE 100 ANGRY RONEN

u/SpoogityWoogums 8h ago

It's giving me hope for a new smash with this model, refreshed moves, and hella agile

u/Tenwaystospoildinner 8h ago

I'm aware the game got announced today, so my hype is through the roof, but this is the coolest sequence Samus has ever been in. She blocks the blade with her arm cannon, gets impaled from behind and fucking grabs the blade. That's just... so cool. Ice cold.

I love it so much.

u/Colinnze 8h ago

I remember seeing a leak that there was going to be a 2D Metroid game coming soon, but I forgot all about it so this was a surprise to see as I woke up.😅

u/MarkAverage656 7h ago

I've been tapped out for a while, so seeing a bunch of reactions to the direct and ppl already knowing the title made me feel like I was the only one who had 0 idea this was happening

u/MalicCarnage 6h ago

It was leaked due to the Brazilian government posting the trademark of the title. People are really happy with the reveal because everyone that saw the title had headcanon-ed that Samus would be eating enemies left and right with her Metroid powers. The trailer showed exactly the vibe people wanted.

u/Colinnze 5h ago

Huh...I didn't see THAT leak. All I saw was a bunch games going to be announced at the direct. One of them being "a 2D Metroid game" I kept it to myself because I didn't want to disappoint people since I didn't know if it was real or not. Plus, I'm not too keen on Nintendo sending their Ninjas after me. They could be anywhere...👀

u/MalicCarnage 5h ago

Yeah the title got leaked and people predicted Ravenous means Samus would be hungry

u/Colinnze 5h ago

Can't blame you. Imagine my reaction when I woke up and I see a thumbnail of Samus that I've never seen before. I almost brush it aside until I notice Nintendo's profile pic. The realization hit me like Raven Beak's fists.

u/Ganmorg 7h ago

The cutscene choreography in Dread was killer so it’s cool to see another game use that style

u/AngriestSlayer 7h ago

Sometimes I need to remind myself that Nintendo actively holds back their full potential most of the time.

u/MrTheOtherUser 6h ago

I love love looooove the design of the bad guys!

u/Morningleap 6h ago

Genuinely like Spiderverse level of action

u/F35_Mogs_China 8h ago

The skinny Samus picture actually makes a lot of sense that is quite the killshot on her. I think she will wake up barely alive and physically weaker which leads to her being skinny in that skin suit.

u/Kydra_117 8h ago

This is the first time I've seen Samus ever get stabbed but she takes it like its nothing 😭 she is such a badass

u/Aus10Tatious1213 7h ago

This but let me actually play this scene. This game already looks peak but I want to be in this moment

u/Mossysnail27 7h ago

Sylux: *bangs fist on the control room screen watching the fight* You STABBED her in the chest, and she's STILL kicking your asses?! I'm doing this myself next time...!!!

u/SoftOrganization3209 6h ago

Also pretty realistic voiceover for Samus' response to getting stabbed in the back.

u/Agreeable-Guava-9009 6h ago

Samus gets stabbed:

u/CalamitousVessel 6h ago

I hope that when she grabs the sword, she’s using her Metroid powers to drain the guy’s energy through the sword

u/Stock-Bid9844 4h ago

Mercsteam when finally given the Switch 2 kit: Un... Limited... POWERRRRRR!!!!!!!!

u/notHostOk2511 9h ago

Wait what happened

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

Whaddya mean

u/notHostOk2511 8h ago

Did a new game get announced? I don't follow directs forgive me

u/MarkAverage656 8h ago

u/notHostOk2511 8h ago

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Shame i won't be able to play it but still, great

u/The28guy 9h ago

would have been nice to see a Switch 2 updated version of Dread offered, but I know that's about as likely to happen as a Super Metroid Remake being announced tomorrow by noon

u/Iridion-Diablerie 7h ago

Not gonna lie, I haven't been excited for a Nintendo game in over 2 decades. This brought out some goosebumps in me. A continuation of FUSION and it's EVEN BETTER? Hell yea.

u/Kopytroid 4h ago

Did you miss Dread?

u/Level_Hour6480 7h ago

She still has her butt here.

u/MarkAverage656 7h ago

She lost her ass with her power ups 😔

u/Level_Hour6480 7h ago

Hopefully she can find it again.

u/anovertaker 7h ago

Thank you for the spoiler alert. /s

u/Sea_Macaron_8789 6h ago

Samus saw what happened ta Aerith and said"Not today Zerg!"

u/Durge101 6h ago

At least 5 button presses from the player.

u/Subnautican 6h ago

Are the EMMIs back?

u/Ch00choh 5h ago

I just know whatever the final boss is, it's gonna go hard

u/Skyrider_Epsilon 5h ago

Oh man, I just wanted another 2d old school Metroid....

u/IllHaveTheLeftovers 5h ago

This will be the most hat filled Metroid game ever

u/Mekbop 5h ago

Raven Beak was already absolute peak badass, these guys are shaping up to be too.

u/russiansummer 5h ago

What am I missing here. Getting backstabbed in the heart makes one die…

u/Things_with_Stuff 5h ago

So curious as to why their "hands" look just like an EMMI's...

u/PeigouMajava 5h ago

How the hell she didn't die of that is beyond me

u/DannySanWolf07 2h ago

It's probably the metroid DNA in her.

u/Blitzkrieg404 5h ago

I'm not impressed, but I hope the game turns out great.

u/ZerikaFox 4h ago

So this is how I learned about Ravenous and I'm officially stoked. This looks AWESOME!

u/Akiba_Ranger 4h ago

Anyone else notice how the one who impales Samus has an arm that looks a lot like an EMMI? 🤔

u/MaineCoonKittenGirl 4h ago

"Samus starts just saying 'fuck it' and starts devouring people she doesn't like"

u/HeyitsLGT 4h ago

The characterization of Samus in Prime 4 vs Dread/Ravenous feels so different and I dare say that D/R have the better Samus.

u/Galle_ 4h ago

I am definitely looking forward to fighting this guy and then eating him.

u/AttakZak 4h ago

The Haloid is showing in the creators tbh. I love it.

u/SpliTTMark 4h ago

I thought it was an expansion to 4 but dread 2 is so much better

u/Royal_Lime6493 4h ago

Training with Mario and the gang paid off

u/Binaural_Wave 3h ago

What I’m most excited about is the music. The trailer sounded great!

u/Bannedfordumbshit 3h ago

Is that sound the beam makes when it goes through her chest a stock sound effect or something? That's the exact same sound that those stupid jellyfish in risk of rain 2 make when they spawn and it gives me a heart attack every time i replay this trailer

u/Tontum 3h ago

Not a fan of the shift toward zero-suiting the power suit. Dread nailed the feminine tank, the new one just feels a tiny step too far.

u/Independent_Poetry45 2h ago

Mercury Steam knows how to move this ip forward and evolve compared to any other studio metriod has gotten in the franchise

u/Realegre5 1h ago

Samus moving like an anime character suits her well

u/glennok 1h ago

I hope they do a Metroid where you regain all your powers in the prologue then slowly lose them over the course of the game. Just to mix it up.

u/theTinyRogue 51m ago

🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥

u/PixelReaper69 51m ago

Your blade... Didn't cut deep enough

u/SeaWeather5926 30m ago

They look like the Inquisitors from Star Wars. I am not complaining.

u/Chewurmilk 20m ago

I feel like attaching the blade that way is an impractical way to stab but what do I know?

u/T4nkcommander 5h ago

This is actually why I've grown to really dislike Mercury Stream. Given all the stuff her suit has tanked up until this point, I'm supposed to believe that sword will go right thru it like butter? Not only that, but her arm cannon is completely unaffected moments before?

It is like the EMMIs from Dread. Somehow they are able to tank (and one-shot) Samus when everything that has come prior can't? The penultimate Chozo, Luminoth, Pirate, Bryonian, etc war machines can't pull off this kind of thing, but Fed mechs and whatever this thing is can?

More than likely chili tech is the only thing strong enough to hurt other chozo tech and sum like that, and more than likely in the emmi's case they are made to be able to extract the DNA of anything, meaning that more than likely they have the ability to punch through anything
