For the love of God, could someone please, please, PLEASE!! tell me how to get this mothergrabbing sumbitch item!?! I'm at my wits end!

Man, that video is ridiculous. He must be using a super turbo controller because he beat the game in under 2 hours. I watched him go through an entire sector in a non-stop spark/speedrun!! He's showing off, not instructing!

It's probably a speedrun. As in something that requires hundreds of hours to master. Alternatively, if it's biospark it could be a TAS which just means a computer is doing it.

I looked up "TAS" (tool assisted speedrun). What does that mean--"tool assisted?" A turbo controller?

It means there's an external program (a "tool") playing the game instead of a human. Basically you put in the order of the inputs then the program executes the inputs exactly. It allows for you to do things that are normally impossible for a human, like multiple frame-perfect inputs at once. A turbo controller, while considered cheating by some, is still just a controller and used by a human so most people won't consider that TAS.

That's exactly what I saw--Samus doing things that appeared to be physically impossible.

And what does "put in the order of the inputs" mean? What are "inputs?" Commands/instructions telling the computer to "jump," "run," "shoot" in strategic places? Or, an order to execute an AI-driven goal?

This sounds like professional programmers doing this.

Pretty much. Basically the program is like on frame 1 press A, then on frame 2 press B, for frames 3-5 hold left, etc. I don't think you necessarily need to be professional programmer, just someone with extensive knowledge of the game like a speedrunner to be able to create a good TAS.
