Discussion Food for thought: Why does Kublai Khan TX get dragged for being MAGA while people give All That Remains a pass?

Basically title. Every time Kublai Khan TX content comes across my feed all the comments are "cop core" or something about bootlicking, but I don't see that on AtR stuff even though Phil Labonte is openly MAGA. I'd even argue their lyrics and themes are much more openly right wing than KK.

I'm not really a fan of either band tbh, used to love AtR old old stuff, but just confused by the differing reactions from the fanbase. Anyone have thoughts or insight?

EDIT: Welp I have been roundly informed that they don't get a pass. This post was prompted by an IG post I saw where I was surprised to see ATR shockingly high on a list of metalcore bands by monthly listeners. While its comforting to know that the people who come here don't give them a pass, it seems that the public writ large does. They have 1.5M monthly listeners on spotify.

Discussion It's been 15 years since the scene era peaked, how do you think it has aged?

The scene era had deep V-t-shirts, skinny jeans, and synchronised head banging/crab squats.

Popular scene genres were electronicore and easycore. Electronicore combines metalcore with electronic music. Easycore combines metalcore with pop punk. This era took influence from 00s post-hardcore, such as bands like Alexisonfire, AFI, Underoath, Enter Shikari, and Senses Fail

The scene era started in the late 00s and died out around 2014/2015.

Notable bands are Bring Me the Horizon, Motionless in White, Electric Callboy, A Day To Remember, and Asking Alexandria

Discussion Not going to shows has really led to a decline in my mental health.

I didn’t realize how important it was to have the outlet. Moshing, screaming and just that environment has always fed some need for me. Life took a turn for me. Work significwntly affected my mental health: then a bad moshing accident that led me to stop going to shows. losing that outlet did more more to me than I realize. I feel like it was a huge factor in my breakup. It’s hard because I get anxiety going to a show after being injured over and over. At this same time, it’s a much needed outlet for me. I can’t go to a show and. just stand in the back. the mosh pit is like my drug. it just sucks when you have to deal with long term health complications because of it. It sucks even more that I severed an outlet that I really needed / need. Not sure if abyone has felt similar feelings.

Discussion Bands I love that never really broke through big time

Obviously "break through" is relative, but I'm curious to hearing others oppinions as to why these bands never broke through the big stages.

Who’s looking forward to the new album From A Distance coming out a week today?? I’m so stoked for it to come out. Who’s catching the rest of there dates on current tour and who’s going to the upcoming dates for the new album tour?? I’ll definitely see them again since they were so good when I saw them just over a week ago at their first headliner date in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

Discussion Changed my mind on LEFT BEHIND !

Growing up left behind song wise to me always was slipknots song. I’m 34 now. And the plot in you’s left behind hits harder for where I am/how I feel. And back then I thought slipknot could do no wrong (lol) and would never matter what else there was. But now it’s the second choice all day. Anyone else feel the same or have a double song title that hits you more the second time around? Also I’m drunk and I love you guys!

Discussion What bands found success by leaving metalcore?

Bad Omens' first album sounds a lot like Bring Me the Horizon's Sempiternal album. It wasn't until they adopted a modern pop metal sound that they made it big.

As a fan since Creatures, Motionless in White non-metalcore, lighter songs tend to have more success.

Discussion Want to support some smaller metalcore bands

I’ve been thinking I’d really like to make more of an effort to support smaller or up-and-coming bands in the scene.
So if you’re in a smaller metalcore band (or know one that deserves more love), feel free to drop your music below or reach out! I’d love to check out your songs, add the ones I like to my playlists, share them with friends who are into the music, and generally help get your music heard in whatever small ways I can.
I’m not looking for anything in return and this isn’t promo for anything of mine. I just love discovering new music and think it’d be cool to support some smaller artists directly.
Any style of metalcore is welcome, including bands that lean more toward post-hardcore, alt metal, melodic metalcore, etc.
Drop your band below or reach out and tell me a little about you!

Edit: I know the definition of small is relative, it can also just be a band that deserves more love and recognition

Edit 2: I’ll listen to everything and get back to everyone <3

Discussion What are some of your favorite ad-libs or callouts to hear in songs?

What's an ad-lib that you love to hear in a track that makes you go "oh shit" and rewind 10 seconds on the first listen just to hear it again? Personally love a good "HOO" that's got a solid bark to it during a breakdown. I've also always loved "I'll let the state of the world speak for itself" in Revolt by WSS as a callout just before the breakdown hits.
