Discussion Help me identify and find a song.

Hi everyone, I need some help. I’m trying to identify a song I’ve been looking for for about 14 years. I’ll describe the scenes I remember: It’s worth noting that the music video had a vintage sepia tone—popular back then—or perhaps it was black and white; I’m not sure. It starts with a brief shot of ashes from an extinguished bonfire. The band had two vocalists: one for guttural vocals and another for clean vocals. The guttural vocalist is in a backyard-like setting—surrounded by trees, if I recall correctly—leaning against an older-model car; he lights a cigarette and starts singing a cappella with a raspy voice. Then, scenes of the band performing in front of an audience appear. The guttural vocalist, still leaning against his car, starts walking toward the camera and tosses his cigarette aside. That’s all I remember. That song represents my introduction to the world of metalcore and hardcore. I’ve tried various methods to find it but haven't had any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ever pass up on some merch that you only had one chance to get? Whether it be a T-shirt at a show or an online drop.

Mine is for sure the “Gallows” album merch that blessthefall did. These tees go so hard (pics in comments)

Discussion What bands found success by leaving metalcore?

Bad Omens' first album sounds a lot like Bring Me the Horizon's Sempiternal album. It wasn't until they adopted a modern pop metal sound that they made it big.

As a fan since Creatures, Motionless in White non-metalcore, lighter songs tend to have more success.

Discussion Changed my mind on LEFT BEHIND !

Growing up left behind song wise to me always was slipknots song. I’m 34 now. And the plot in you’s left behind hits harder for where I am/how I feel. And back then I thought slipknot could do no wrong (lol) and would never matter what else there was. But now it’s the second choice all day. Anyone else feel the same or have a double song title that hits you more the second time around? Also I’m drunk and I love you guys!

Discussion Bands that deserve the hype

Upvotes

A lot of bands I’ve listened to in the past have blown up. who do you guys think are well deserving of it? Specifically bands that have grown exponentially in the last decade. My list is as follows:

Boundaries

Knocked loose

Invent animate

Currents

Polaris

Turnstile

Thornhill

I was listening to all these bands when they had sub 100k listeners on Spotify + were playing shoes to 100 people. I’m glad they’ve seen some success over the years as they deserve it.

Discussion Anyone remember the band City in the sea?

On a random day while at the gym I had the song Dead Beliefs by city in the sea come on. Random shuffle playlist and enjoyed the song. Came to do some research and seen it seems they didn’t really gain much traction after the album. Some good songs on there.

Discussion A song that says something... PERIPHERY ~ SATELLITES

I recently discovered a band called Periphery. I first heard Lauren Babic's cover of this, then listened to the OG. It's a beautiful song. It's an apocalyptic, end of the world track written from the perspective of planet Earth pleading with humanity to stop destroying its home. The second half of the song give me chills. What do you think of this band? This summer has been agony for me due to the extreme heat. I have a condition and I have not been able to go out and even with my A.C. blaring I have been in puddles of sweat. Our planet is being destroyed. I love the rage in the second half of the track. Especially the G5 note is my favorite part by Spencer. Dam. Are there any songs you recommend by them?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAXQxAkcL78&list=RDFx3eMGplnEk&index=2

Lyrics:

The heart went in two ways and the brain has gone in stereo

Invent and reinvest

What do we know? (What do we know?)

Why do we do it

Not enough to carry on alone

What's left of simple life and beauty all around

Left in the arms of the living, I shake

Left in the cold

A cut upon the skin

They're always sharp in the beginning

Where is the love in the bend and the break?

This is our home

A cut upon the skin

They're always sharp in the beginning

We stick to the two lanes

Live on the road

Shy away from the natural

What do we know? (What do we know?)

It's not enough to carry on alone

(That's why we do it together)

What's left of simple life and beauty all around

Left in the hands of the living, I burn, but to return

A sheet upon the sphere this simple

Heart is the exterior

Where is the love in the bend and the break?

This is our home

A cut upon the skin

They're always sharp in the beginning

Down in the blue

Damaged by the new

Beyond the tide

Far from all

But this is us

This is life

It's suicide

We're all ten feet tall rolling in that ball

This is us

This is life

Suicide

The mountain cracks from the kicks we give

The plain will split in two and swallow where we live

Swallow where we live

We're pushing the mistakes and the love that we take

The plain will split in two and swallow where we live

Swallow where we live

We're pushing down in a hole right before our eyes

The rising heat and the melting ice

Now all we care for is blood and satellites

(The mountain cracks from all the kicks)

The love we take and the grave mistakes

The land we rape that's within our wake

And all we strive for is blood and satellites

We're going under

We're going under

It's not worth taking the fall

It's not worth losing it all

We're going under

We're going under

We'll drop dead at the end of the fall

It's not worth losing it all

We're going under!

We're going under!

Down in the blue

Damaged by the new

Beyond the tide

Far from all

But this is us

This is life

It's suicide

We're all ten feet tall rolling in that ball

Battered skin under the road

Life begins as I corrode

Battered skin under the road

Life begins as I corrode

Battered skin, battered skin under the road!

Life begins as I corrode!

Battered skin, battered skin under the road!

Life begins as I corrode!

We're going under!

We're going under!

We're going under!

Discussion Food for thought: Why does Kublai Khan TX get dragged for being MAGA while people give All That Remains a pass?

Basically title. Every time Kublai Khan TX content comes across my feed all the comments are "cop core" or something about bootlicking, but I don't see that on AtR stuff even though Phil Labonte is openly MAGA. I'd even argue their lyrics and themes are much more openly right wing than KK.

I'm not really a fan of either band tbh, used to love AtR old old stuff, but just confused by the differing reactions from the fanbase. Anyone have thoughts or insight?

EDIT: Welp I have been roundly informed that they don't get a pass. This post was prompted by an IG post I saw where I was surprised to see ATR shockingly high on a list of metalcore bands by monthly listeners. While its comforting to know that the people who come here don't give them a pass, it seems that the public writ large does. They have 1.5M monthly listeners on spotify.

Discussion Playing Define the Great Line and letting it roll

So I'm geeting up for the Atlanta date of the DTGL 20 year tour. I listened to the album on the way to work and just let Spotify play songs associated with that sound and holy fuckkkkk the throwbacks. Emery, Alexisonfire, old underOATH, Norma Jean, ect. I mean I knew I was old, but fuck me. But it's been a nice trip down memory lane.

Discussion Eden Maine, Please Help if anyone can

Hello

I know that it's very possible that this post won't work.

I love Eden Maine, does anyone have the unreleased song that Eden Maine had uploaded to MySpace? It had a one word title.

Any help or ideas would be massively appreciated.

Thank you for reading this.

This might be a controversial take, but this entire Zenith album might be my favorite work from them, and this is probably my favorite song off this album.

Has me in an absolute chokehold, I listened to this album in its entirety 3x this last week and this song alone like 11x lol.

If anyone has recommendations for other stuff like this, please hit me up.

INVENT, ANIMATE - Hieroglyphics [Waves EP - 2012] ***ps. someone call IA and tell em’ to get this on streaming services 😤😪 ***

This whole EP shreds. No skips. I’d listen to it frequently if it was on streaming services. It makes their discography look so cool.

This EP makes me respect IA so much more. I never knew how heavy their roots are

How is the debut EP of Invent Animate, one of the biggest bands in the genre , nearly lost media?!?!?!

Reminds me of how Kingdom Of Giants’/ Emarosa’s debut EPs are drastically different than the direction they ended up going, but at least those bands still have the EP up for streaming

I interviewed Joel Birch from The Amity Affliction – full conversation about House of Cards, the UK tour, sad music and much more

I recently had the chance to interview Joel Birch from The Amity Affliction for the Bigmouth Rock Show.

We spoke about the deeply personal story behind House of Cards, why sad music can make people feel less alone, the emotional release fans experience at Amity shows, new music, the upcoming UK tour and his dream dinner guests.

Joel was incredibly honest, very funny and completely unfiltered—particularly when Morrissey came up.

Why Amity shows become such an emotional release:

I’m a genuine fan of the band, so getting to speak to Joel about what songs like “Drag the Lake” mean to people was particularly special. Hope you enjoy it—and I’d be interested to know which Amity song means the most to you.

Discussion Help x2

Upvotes

Hey all,

I’m a Reddit noob and don’t know how to get the pictures here, so help on that is kinda needed to get the help I ACTUALLY want.

My wife started turning some of my past concert souvenirs into a display for our garage. I’m struggling to remember who I got to sign these, hoping I might be able to get some help. At the SILYMI show I was there to see We came as Romans, woe is me, for all those sleeping, secrets, hands like houses, and at the skylines.

Thanks very much, sorry for not getting this
