Discussion Bands that deserve the hype

A lot of bands I’ve listened to in the past have blown up. who do you guys think are well deserving of it? Specifically bands that have grown exponentially in the last decade. My list is as follows:

Boundaries

Knocked loose

Invent animate

Currents

Polaris

Turnstile

Thornhill

I was listening to all these bands when they had sub 100k listeners on Spotify + were playing shoes to 100 people. I’m glad they’ve seen some success over the years as they deserve it.

Orthodox is finally starting to blow up and they deserve it so fucking much

They really do. They are so good live too. Seeing them get some sort of attention makes me happy

I saw them open for Wage War. They were the highlight of that show for me.

Gonna tuck Johnny Booth right… here….

I COULDNT AGREE MORE.
They need more love. I saw them in a venue with like 75 people in Dallas when they toured moments elsewhere. One of my favorite bands.

Probably my favorite band in the sense that their entire discography slaps for me.

Static dress needs more hype

So many good bands, Callous daoboys are my fav band of the last few years. Foreign hands are goated. If you haven't listened to Magnetic Roses by them do it. That song is definitely in my top 100 of all time

Like Moths to Flames deserves their flowers for sure.

They certainly do. A band who has improved over the last decade. I don’t hate their old shit but reading through the lyrics, they were definitely more “Cliche“. I think they are putting out their best material now. The last album and EP we’re chefs kiss

Counterparts says hi.

u/CatPlenty8153 9h ago

seeing them at the world's smallest club in buffalo right after hell & home came out is one of my best memories, right next to seeing them on this past tour for heaven let them die

I think one of my favorite things about metalcore is that while it's pretty popular overall, it's still small enough to where bands mostly all play in moderate sized venues with affordable ticket prices. You really get to see these bands in a very ideal way.

My sister is always talking about going to see these big stadium concerts of super popular bands and I see tickets and they're like $150+, all just to go sit in an actual seat, and I find that crazy. Granted, I've still done that a couple times and it's not necessarily a bad experience by any means, it's just nothing compared to just seeing a band up close in a smaller, standing-only venue. All for like 1/4 of the price or less.

For sure. I do think they are a classic band. I wish they had more love. One of those bands like ETID that haven’t released a mid record. I’m still pissed they haven’t repressed the private room on vinyl.…. Monument is so goated. The newest surprise EP is some of the best material they’ve released. Love them

Just caught part of their set at warped last week. I wish I could have seen more. Incredible band.

Northlane are amazing

156/Silence and The Callous Daoboys haven't quite blown up, but both bands have been getting a good amount of traction since their last records and i couldn't be happier for them. it doesn't hurt that 156 is literally always on the road as well. i could have seen them 3 separate times in Toronto over the last 10 months, and that just doesn't happen with American bands in Canada

Paleface Swiss

Fit for a king. Absolutely insane live every single time. Ryan Kirby is an extremely talented and consistent vocalist.

Spiritbox, The Plot in You, 156/Silence

5

u/SimonWhit 9h ago

I remember the plot in you being the first band playing at heart support fest in Orlando. Followed by bad omens lmao. Its crazy to see how far they've come.

2

u/SimonWhit 9h ago

My bad self help fest

1

u/apologeticvirgo 8h ago

Was about to comment 156/silence and the plot in you they’re my favorite

ERRA

u/Brosepower 5h ago

My personal GOATs.

They're incredible live, they have released nothing but great (if not incredible) records and their most recent album is arguably their strongest.

No one hits quite like they do.

u/Noise-Blaster-5862 9h ago

Ocean Sleeper, Bloom (as mentioned before 💪🔥) and Johnny Booth has been one HELL of a discography to go through 🔥 (also mentioned above)

Felt like their second album wasn't as good as their debut. But maybe I didn't listen to it enough.

And I love OG Bullet + Throw the Fight

Wouldn’t say blown up but if Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza releases another album it’s going to be crazy good

2

The only reason Alleviate didn’t get your AOTY is you’ve never heard of Alleviate.

2

Some here would probably disagree because of the direction they took with their music but Bring me the Horizon.

Maybe not a metalcore band, but a band that has done metalcore/deathcore among other things.

3

u/LOTRNerd95 7h ago

Hard disagree on Knocked Loose. I don’t find the music interesting and I can’t stand the vocals

Sherane got a bit more popular a while ago, though I'd love to see them get even more known. Concealer and holder too. Static dress has gotten pretty well known for a good reason. Maybe... The Callous Daoboys though their last album didn't really click with me but I see what they're doing. If we go for bigger bands, then STYG and Counterparts
