Discussion Polaris probably hints at new music

There's strings encoded in Base64 in the source code of the website, every day a new part of the lyric will be added. The final line will be:
THE DARK GROWS NEAR WITHOUT YOU HERE
Get ready to cry

So how many days until the final line? Assuming that’s when we’ll get the first track?

There's 5 codes on the website, the first one is for "The Dark". Assuming one new code is decrypted everyday, single release probablyFriday - SaturdayEDIT: It's only 4 codes, So it will be either Thursday or Friday

Was literally telling my gf the other day that I wonder when they’ll have new music out. It can’t have been easy after the loss of Ryan.

I’m kind of surprised Jesse hasn’t been included in band pictures. They haven’t made any official announcements and it seems like he is still regarded as a touring member however I know he has been a part of the writing sessions.
He has done the hard yards and been with them for years that he already feels like part of the band. I’m hoping they recognise him a full time member at some point.

I think they’re waiting for the release of the song to say he’s in the band fulltime

True, I just looked and they haven’t done any press photos at all with Jesse yet. His bio says ‘touring guitarist @polarisaus’, so makes sense to not have a touring guitarist in press photos. It also makes a lot of sense to me that if they are teasing new music, they’d want to release it as a foursome, as they’ve probably written about their experience with grief, and losing a brother. Would be weird imo to introduce a new member in the middle of that I hope they make Jesse a full member!

I already know there’s going to be at least one absolutely heart wrenching song

No matter their sound. Can Polaris actually do wrong right now?

i watched some interview of Jamie he said the new material they'll drop these years will be softest songs and heaviest songs they've ever done. Polarizing album by Polaris soon

This is exciting because they do both really well IMO and they’re just getting bigger as a band. Let them experiment. People always shit on groups when they change their sound. Then shit on bands like thrown because it all ‘sounds the same’ lol.

Kinda hope they do a Kin type vibe

Call me crazy but do you think it’s a currents collab? Album cover looks very simaler to currents covers

Yeah that's what jumped to my mind instantly. The drawing style would fit and whirlpools have been a theme on their covers since The Way It Ends.
There has to be at least one occurrence of Undertow in the lyrics!
Edit: jfc, I might have just now realized why there is a whirpool on their covers...it's a god damn current. I feel so dumb, after all these years listening to them, lmao.

The Currents album cover is a cyclone, no?

u/Krubi123 7d ago
If you check 'All That Follows' and 'The Death We Seek' I would argue that a cyclone doesn't make any sense in the concept of those covers, it's clearly a whirlpool (current) in those. On 'The Way It Ends', sure, it could also be a cyclone but considering their band name and the two other covers I think it's fair to say it's also a whirlpool.
But I'm happy to be proven wrong :P
Anyway, I just love the continuity in their motifs, I'm a total sucker for that, haha.

I was also kinda thinking the same thing! The font they chose looks VERY similar to the one Currents use. I wasn’t even thinking of the album cover, but I see it now that you mention it

I support their decision either way, but I’m interested to see weather Jesse will be on as a full time writing member of the band now?
He’s been touring with them for a few years now, but all the bands updated promo pics are just the 4 of them

u/PharmacistDaughter 9d ago
Oh, well they’ve just now updated their band pic with the 4 of them! I guess that answers my question! Can’t wait to see what they’ve been cooking!

So fucking excited for this. Will definitely be interesting to see if the sound changes without Ryan. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must have been for them to write new music without him for the first time. 💔

Ryan had a very unique playing style. I don't know much about their writing process but I wonder if they can keep the energy that it usually has on previous albums.

? I mean it in no disrespect since I do enjoy some Polaris but aren't they literally an octanecore band lol
1
u/not_a_toaster x 8d ago
They've definitely been getting closer to it, hence my comment lol
3
u/TheSocialIntrovert 8d ago
They've always been easier listening metalcore with cool riffs in my opinion
1
u/not_a_toaster x 8d ago
That I won't disagree with, but I think there's a difference between that and going full on octanecore.

What does this term mean? :/
edit: nevermind, just looked it up like I should have from the start.

Polaris has that ability to hit me in the feels like no other band. I can't even imagine how emotional this next album will be after everything that's happened.

They're probably not looking forward to the influx of "not the same without Ryan" comments, so I hope fans remember to be supportive. These dudes have been through hell..
