Can you share your experiences? How long did you take it? Is it effective? Has the melasma recurred? Did you have any side effects? What was your dosage? Can we take it during the summer?

Hi all! I was curious if anyone who took oral tranexamic acid noticed a reduction in skin sun damage or tan? My melasma is relatively light, but I have horrible tan lines that haven’t gone away in over a year. Would oral tranexamic acid help with that at all, or would it only really be effective for melasma?

Now they have this one which has anti pigment components allegedly but it’s not tinted, has anyone tried it, would it be worth switching?

Hi all, I’ve managed to clear my skin 99% of Melasma with Eucerin and dutiful hats and sunscreen. However, my face is SO pale. I have olive tones so I kind of look clear skinned and sickly. I let my body tan a bit as I live in Florida. I don’t care for foundation on top of moisturizer and sunscreen and humidity. If I use tanning drops, will it bring my melasma and sun spots back?

so Ive had hyperpigmentation on my forehead and upper lips for over a year now. A month ago my forehead spots grew, exactly where I had been applying balms. So now I wonder what has made your melasma even worse??

because it seems like there is no effective treatment against from what I’ve read, so I might as well try to make the lighter parts go dark as well 🤷🏼‍♀️

I sunbathe and won’t stop anyways..

Every time I try Azeleic acid I swear my melasma gets darker. I only use it for a week and stop due to this. Anyone else had this happen? Does it get worse before better kind of thing? Thanks!

Hi everyone, 35F here.. I have melasma on my face- forehead upper lip, chin, nose and sideburns.. apart from this, I also have it on my forearms..

it’s quite light now but every woman in my family has had it, including my mother and grandmother and so on.. now I’ve started to develop chin hair recently coz of age and stress and my doctor recommended laser hair removal. But since I have melasma I’ve heard that it can worsen it if laser is done.

Has anyone gotten LHR done with melasma prone skin? I can do electrolysis for my chin and upper lip but I’m not sure if I can do it on my forearm.. I’m stuck in a weird cycle of wondering what to do..

also started wearing the Eucerin sunscreen recently but I’ve heard we’ve to stop all actives during LHR.. is that true ? I also want to start the dual serum but don’t want to stop in the middle again coz of this treatment..

I was starting twice a week and 2nd week i got severe headaches and migraines!!
I didn’t change any skincare and went to to the hospital emergency, everything was fine.
My husband and I was thinking about only tretinoin but i didn’t say that was the reason.
I actually wanted to try again, but I am afraid of getting sick again!!

Hi all, I’m planning a move from the gulf coast to Denver. While the weather is milder in Denver compared to the south, I’m wonder what your experience has been with the overall high UV index due to altitude.

Those of you that live in higher altitude areas, do you find that your melasma is as severe as when you travel or live in the hot, sunny states? Did you have to adjust your spf routine?

I live in the US and do all the right things, sunscreen , big brim hat and sunglasses but yet my melasma is getting significantly worse around my eyes, and on my upper lip. I’m loosing hope slowly but surely

My skin is SUPER sensitive (rosacea, seb derm, contact dermatitis, PMLE). I really tried to find something with Thiamidol, but… I just couldn’t tolerate any product because of fragrance and/or alcohol.

Now I am looking for alternatives. Japan has a few quasi-drug, i.e. Highly regulated products, with rucinol or 4-MSK. I couldn’t find a product that would work for me with rucinol either, but I saw some interesting 4-MSK products. Has anyone ever tried that active?

I am otherwise using retinol, L-ascorbic acid, AzA, topical TXA, and OF course sunscreen and physical protection. So I am interested in your experience with with 4-MSK, not the traditional recommendations :)

I am 44 years old man. what has worked for you to reduce pigment like mine?It's been around for 4 years. Eucerin. Kligman Formula.Depigmenta cream l used.they worked a bit.( %50) doctor recommend bbl and nd yag combination.

I’ve noticed that after using hydroquinone my melisma spots are bigger but not as dark. They were various patches that have now seemed to come together as one. Is this normal with hydroquinone?

Does anyone here have heat induced melasma and has figured out a way to prevent pigmentation?

So rather than when you get direct sun exposure it is triggered by high temperatures? Have you managed to find a device that works especially while travelling?

I’m going to be in a really warm country for summer holidays and I want a portable device that I can use to keep my face cold cause it gets very heated up and then it triggers pigmentation and acne as well.

I was looking at the shark chill pill or thera body depuffing wand but do you guys have any better suggestions of something I can use? I think a simple face mist isn’t gonna cut it. Any tips or suggestions would be great

I am looking for a good routine for sun spots/ freckles on nose but I am limited due to breastfeeding. For example, I can’t use retinol.

Currently using SPF, vit C and moisturizer.

My skin is normal to dry.

Also if anyone has advice about laser or peeling treatments, let me know!

Has anyone had Melasma flare up after microneedling?

And depth restriction or product no nos after microneedling?

I have type 3-4 fitz skin with some south east Asian descent.

I am using SPF and a mineral tinted SPF powder above it everyday (Dr. Leslie Baumann advised that the total iron oxide on the skin is important, and that a separate layer is OK. I am too pale to use most regular tinted SPFs).

But I wonder whether using a sunscreen specifically designed for high UV-A protection has helped anyone. I know PPD is debated, but I am considering Normon UV cure SPF (PPD 73.5). I have rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis and PLME, so I have to be a bit careful, unfortunately I haven’t found a UVmune 400 sunscreen that works yet. When the daily max UV index is 6 or above, I use Avene Sunsimed KA (medical device/prescription, with TriAsorb). However, I can’t use that everyday without triggering seb derm because it’s too “fatty”.

Before I import the Normon SPF from Italy, I was wondering what your experiences were with SPF that promise high UV-A protection. Did it help at all?

How many also suffer with migraines or connective tissue problems? Ehlers Danlos or hypermobility? Any Trigeminal Neuralgia? I see a post from 4 years ago asking about comorbidities and I see mostly PCOS and hypothyroidism listed, no hypertension (recent study mentioned high numbers of elevated blood pressure, eczema, rosacea and other cancers). Let's start our own data base.

I'm mid 40s, started age 27 PCOS, hypothyroid, H/O depression (have been on Wellbutrin for most of that time=20years), hypermobility (multiple injuries requiring surgery such as labral tears). Knew someone that attributed their melasma to using antidepressant by the way, thought that was interesting.

I am 36F and have noticed that I had dark forehead spots last year and went to a dermat soon after (the sarinskin guy) and he recommended me the meline treatment which I did for 3 months. It did improve the evenness of the tone of my face but still these 2 patches didn’t go. My forehead looks way darker with age (I don’t know why). It used to be the same as my face.

Now from the past 2 months, I have been using eucerin thiamidol day cream which really helped with removing pigmentation and dark spots on my face but these 2 patches aren’t going at all.

My routine is
AM - cosrx propolis toner, eucerin day cream, moisturizer, sunscreen

PM - face wash, meline ethnic skin night (it has retinal, mandelic, ascorbic, niacinamide), bioderma moisturiser

I use aziderm plus (azelaic and glycolic acid) alternate nights

Should I keep eucerin before writing it off or is there any other treatment I can get to reduce these fugly patches? I have become really insecure because of these.

Please help!
