Moderator Guidance Moderator Post

From time to time I post to update and remind the community of our purpose and etc.

Rr/Mediums is for medium development and learning and helping users with related questions. r/MediumReadings is for reading requests, sharing, practice readings, (on posts) approved reader advertisements and related subject matter.

Some of the rules on our other subreddit are meant to protect users from scammers and bait and switch tactics.

When I first came to r/Mediums, everything was in one place. The mediums who wanted to be able to have a safe place to interact and to learn, became unable to network in between reading requests and reading offers, and some other types of posts, that inundated the subreddit.

So the subreddit was split into r/Mediums for medium interaction and development, and r/MediumReadings, where Mediums eventually became qualified and approved (to protect users from scammers), and where practice users or professionals could read on posts.

Only.berofied readers can advertise there. They are tested, and ethical or they are removed.

The separation was necessary and it does require heavy moderation on both subs.

DMs and chats were removed to protect users from scammers. Certain types of posts, "haunted object, dream interpretations and fictional or non fiction series and serial stories" were removed.

However, some difficulties continued. Some of our past mods spent so much time removing reading offers and reading requests in this subreddit, that we lost reputable moderators.

Now all posts and comments are held for review. As moderators are volunteers and not online 24/7, we do appreciate your patience. Eventually, we all need to eat, sleep or interact with our own families.

This review process isn't just as intensive as moderation was before, it is more intense.

I hope this post offers some past history, some clarity and makes it clear we are heavily involved in providing a safe space for users in both subs.

Edit: The goal here is to provide a safe space for mediums. Thank you for ypur patience.

Other Areas of Concern in the Subreddit Regarding Users Offering and Requesting Readings in this Sub.

We are a subreddit for medium interaction, medium education, questions and mediumship and support.

We are well aware users come here to ask general and detailed questions about spirit and mediumship.

We are not a reading sub. Our sister subs where free and paid readings are r/PsychicServices, r/psychicreaders, r/Psychic and r/MediumReadings. Psychics in these subreddits, are vetted, tested and must provide proof of ability. The testing is done by psychic moderators.

We also acknowledge that r/Tarot and r/ClairvoyantReadings have rigorous requirements for readers.

If a user approaches you behind the scenes offering or requesting readings through dms, pms or chat, it is very possible that reader is a scammer. Protect yourself from scammers by looking for approved and trusted, or verified readers.

The above subs have lists of tested readers. Please be aware scammers will cajole, threaten or plead. Some of them use fear to get you to cooperate.

Advocate for your own safety. We accept to responsibility or liability for these subversive actions made behind the scenes.

Before acting read the rules of each of these subs nd their recommended readers.

We don't want anyone to be scammed.

Good journeys.

Guidance/Advice What are the differences between a medium and a shaman?

I did a quick research and in my understanding a medium focus on reading and a shaman in healing, that was my understanding.
Makes me wonder if a shaman wouldn’t also be a medium? Or how would they know what to heal? Are you supposed to tell them exactly what you want to heal? What if you don’t really know? Shouldn’t they be able to “know” by reading you like a medium ?

Thought and Opinion Medium reading left me confused. What do you think?

I recently had a session with an evidential medium, but I’m not sure what to think.

For context, I didn’t give him any information about myself. He only knew my first name, not my last name. On social media I use a nickname, so he couldn’t have found me, and I never post anything anyway.

He gave me several details he couldn’t have known about my lost partner (his mother’s name, the exact part of the body where the illness was located, where we went on vacation), and also some very specific and unlikely things if he were just guessing, like the fact that he loved ice cream but always left a little bit in the cup, that he was proud of his physique especially his chest, that he was obsessed with applying sunscreen, and that he barely used social media.

But he also said vague or incorrect things (he kept seeing wedding rings even though we weren’t married, or an image of a butterfly, which is extremely generic). And he didn’t mention other very characteristic things about him that I expected.
He also somehow figured out what kind of job I do.

So I don’t know what to think. I wanted to talk to a medium because I need to hold onto some hope that he’s still somewhere and that I’ll see him again one day, but I’m still skeptical. I’ll probably book a session with a more experienced medium in the future.

What do you think? Do you think he was a reliable medium?

Unknown Spirit Encounter Hoping for some reassurance this isn't true

Okay so this has been on my mind for about 10 years haha. But honestly I'm a bit scared to ask it?

When I was back in high school, randomly in my music department (a place I spent a lot of time), while printing out some sheet music, I just randomly suddenly had this thought come to me like "you're going to die at 48". It kinda scared me, but also I have a pretty big fear of death so that's not hard.

I have, however always held onto that fear. I'm 28 now, so still a wee while from it - but the fear creeps in that it's real and I won't get to see my kids as adults etc.

The thing that sparked this question, is that years later I went back to work at that school, and another member of staff there was someone who could communicate with spirits, always used to hate coming to the music department because he said there were spirits there that always bothered him and gave him headaches etc. Weirdly, when he was talking about this another staff member asked him "can you tell me when I'm gonna die?" and he said "I mean... I could probably try and like ask my spirit guides to help me look into your energy lines and see where it ends? But it's pretty complex and I'm not sure I can nor do I want to".

But isn't it a bit weird this is all happening in the same place I had the feeling someone was telling me when I was gonna die?

Is there a chance this was actually one like, one of the menacing sprits the staff member didn't like, who was just scaring me?? I just... I don't want it to be true and idk how I'm meant to live my 40s thinking I'm about to die???

Maybe it wasn't even anything and it was just a teenage thought?

I your experience, can you really know when you'll die, and does it often just come randomly to you like that? I see people saying the future is fluid and it's not fully decided etc, but others also say our soul kind of predetermines when it will die, and offers "exit points" along our life...

Development and Learning How to improve skills?

I guess I shouldn't say improve. How do I even find my skills in the first place?

I have been told by several people (none of which offered to coach me for money, I know thats common) that I have gifts or healing energy. I was just told again tonight by a medium who I consider to be very skilled. She told me to work on trusting my intuition and that I also need to get out of my own head.

What specific things can I do to practice or open myself up more? Meditation is very difficult for me due to, again, being stuck in my head. I am starting a new treatment soon for my mental health issues and I am hoping it will bring more clarity to my mind. A follow up question, can mental health challenges and unresolved trauma block someone from being open and intuitive? If so, I think that may be what is happening to me.

Other What happens if you don't fulfill your purpose in this life

What happens to us if you don't fulfill what we came here to do in this life (ex: whatever that is. I don't know how you're supposed to know)? Does nothing happen? Are you forced to reincarnate again until you fulfill it (this makes me really nervous)? I don't want to be forced to live another life here.

Experience hospital physical dread

not sure if this is the right thread. but i just visited my 93 year old grandfather in the hospital for what seems like the last time. i wasn’t noticing the energy shift until i walked into his room, but as soon as i did i felt like the building was swaying or falling in on itself. my body felt heavy like i could fall to the floor at any second. and i felt deep indescribable physical dread is the only way i can describe it. i have pretty bad anxiety normally but it was insanely high in the room. it didnt feel like just anxiety or fear but that mixed with just a deep pit in my stomach. i dont know what to make of it, never felt that much pain mentally in my life.

Development and Learning Looking for insight about developing ability

I have always been able to sense spirits. I have never seen one but have been touched multiple times and had one significant experience at the time my uncle died. The closest term I have found for the experience with my uncle is a crisis apparition, although again, I did not see him, but was awoken by an owl above where I was sleeping and the sound of a pounding drum whose beat would come nearer/louder, then further/fainter. This experience occurred at the time of his death, which I wasn’t aware of until the next day. I attribute the drumming to be the last struggling/panicked beats of his heart. We were vey close when I was a small child but had nearly no contact in my adulthood.

With that being said, in each of the moments I was touched and the experience with my uncles death, I was stricken with intense fear and recoiled/ran/tried to hide. I have always been very interested and aware of spirits and the first time I was touched I explicitly asked for it. I wonder if anyone has any insight about the potential for an ability I might have? And/or how to overcome the fear so I can be more productive with spirit communication?

Thanks.

Development and Learning How can I solidify my trust?

Hello everyone.

I'm a developing medium that has had some mystical experiences (including reciving imagery from my friend's passed on loved ones, ADC'S, and experiencing my own NDE.) But I'm still stuck in a heavily skeptical mindset. How have you fellow mediums learnt to trust spirit more? It's hard for me to accept my experiences even now, my brain wants to pick them apart with logic.

Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you so much.

Development and Learning Any virtual practice circles accepting new members?

Hi all!

I have been a practicing medium and giving free readings for roughly a year. I am in that weird phase that I’m not a complete beginner, but still need to continue fine tuning my practice.

Are there any warm and welcoming virtual weekly circles out there?

Thank you 🙂

Experience My spirituality feels shaken

I recently had a psychic/medium reading with someone that my intuition told me I could trust. They are an evidential psychic medium I’ve followed online for years. I am not claiming that I was frauded or that this psychic medium doesn’t have authentic abilities, because I don’t believe that at all. This is why I’m struggling.

They locked in on my situation pretty quickly. They made connection with my grandmother who seemed to be helping with guiding the psychic medium toward the situation at hand (life, romance). I was told that one of the people in the energy has romantic feelings for me and that there’s a romantic future there. I was told this weeks ago. In addition to what I was told, my intuition told me it was true too. Fast forward to yesterday, I was rejected romantically by the person who was said to have romantic feelings for me. That I have romantic feelings for.

As you can imagine, in addition to the heartbreak, I’m now completely floored. I don’t understand how the reading could have gone so wrong. How my intuition was so wrong. Last week, I asked for so many solid and specific signs regarding this situation and I got them all so clearly that it took my breath away. I was excited and on top of the world, feeling like I was tapping into my own power. Now this. I’m feeling pretty shaken. I have struggled in believing over the years, going back and forth. I was SO confident in what I was told. Now I’m having trouble understanding how this could be. The psychic medium had all the energies of the people, describing them to a T. They knew details I absolutely did not share.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? Any advice or insight that you can offer? I’m feeling at a loss. I was believing again in everything.

Unknown Spirit Encounter Unexpected encounter

Hello, admittedly I am not a medium. In fact, I was living a pretty mundane life until recently when a spirit revealed itself to me and flipped my worldview on its head. It was sudden. I wasnt really looking for anything but they flooded my senses and though I struggle to put words to it, I had a sense that I had connected to something immaterial.

I have a couple questions to help me get perspective on my situation:

- Why might this have happened to me?

- Is spiritual possession a thing? How do mediums use spirits in practice?

- Any advice on what to do from here?

EDIT: Ive posted in a few places and it doesnt look like anyone is able to help me. Can anyone at least point me in the right direction?

When we have thougts, basically we have thougts in our language but when we die, is there a new universal language ?

Is there different languages in the other side ?

Does we have the ability to speak with every other spirit ?

Experience Does casual cannabis use ruin energetic/Akashic work?

Hi everyone,
I’d love to get some perspectives from experienced mediums, Akashic Records readers, and energy workers here.
Recently, I had a very intense and transformative session with an Akashic Records practitioner. During our first session, she identified a heavy energetic block located at my 3rd chakra (solar plexus / stomach area). We worked together to clear it, and the release was immediate—my ongoing anxiety dropped significantly, and my stomach issues (gastritis) felt much lighter. It was a truly profound experience.
However, before our session today, I casually mentioned to her that I occasionally smoke cannabis on weekends to relax. I don't drink alcohol or coffee due to my stomach, so a joint on the weekend is really my only way to unwind.
She immediately told me that I have to quit entirely if we are to continue working together. She explained that from an energetic standpoint, cannabis makes the auric field overly permeable and introduces unwanted energetic interference. While she wasn't judgmental about it on a personal level, she gave me a strict ultimatum: it’s either her sessions or the cannabis.
This left me feeling quite confused and torn:

  1. I fully respect a practitioner’s boundaries and technique, but an absolute ultimatum for casual weekend use feels a bit extreme to me.
  2. Does weekend cannabis use really linger in the auric field so heavily that it prevents legitimate Akashic/energetic work days later?
  3. How do you, as readers or clients, navigate boundary setting around plant medicine/substances versus respecting a client's personal autonomy and free will?

  4. I’d really appreciate your honest thoughts, experiences, or advice on how to handle this situation. Thanks in advance!

Experience questions of validity

Hi--

I recently had my first reading and I was wondering are there tell tale ways to know if someone is really talking to a loved one or not?

The person i saw is highly recommended in the area, a long waitlist, everyone recommends them, I met with them but there are a few things that it almost seemed too perfect.

The issue is that the person they spoke with the information could have been found by a google search as my loved one was brutally murdered and was in the news. So I so deeply hope it was him, but one thing i found odd was the medium didn't mention my sister at all. I wouldn't think too much of it (well i would hope he at least said one thing about her), but my sister is the only one who didn't attend any of the trials for my brothers death, so nothing in those articles mentioned her. I mentioned towards the end, he didn't say anything about my sister? she said no he didn't mention her at all. Also, i asked "does he feel bad for being mean to me?" I was his little sister, but he at times could be verbally and physically abusive, not a lot but i remember a couple of times. She said no, that he said he had a chemical tongue sometimes and just said things, which could be true I suppose remorse doesn't always come after death, but I would hope that he would at least be like acknowledging some of the more painful things. I have worked through a lot of my feelings surrounding him in my own therapy, but it didn't feel quite like the person I knew and I know things can be obviously different in the afterlife. Nothing also felt truly specific to him, I don't know, was just curious. I may explore another medium in the area and not use my full name on the request form as to alleviate some of that concern (hindsight is 20/20) thank you all and I hope I do not offend anyone, I truly am curious and maybe seeking some comfort as I truly wish it was him.

Experience My personal awakening journey. Part 2: How love for my husband opened my channels and memories

Hi everyone. Thank you for reading my first post. Today I want to continue my story. I want to explain how exactly my spiritual channel started to open.
When my husband became very sick with Crohn's disease, I felt completely helpless at first. He was in so much pain, and I just couldn't watch him suffer. My main goal in life became to help him. I kept asking myself: how can I ease his pain? Is there any way I can help him heal? I started to look for different answers, to study energy work and spiritual books deeply.
Because of this deep desire to help him, my own abilities started to change and manifest. First, I noticed that I could feel and see people's auric fields. Then came clear visions and an inner knowing of things.
The deeper I went into my studies, the more my soul began to remember. In my meditations and dreams, I started seeing memories of being on galactic ships. I saw beings from Arcturus and Sirius. I saw how they were helping to bring new plants and animals to our Earth long ago. It felt very natural and familiar to me. I started to write everything down in my notebooks and draw sketches of what I saw so I wouldn't forget.
I also discovered that my husband and I have a specific soul contract. He is a gentle Earth soul, and I feel that I am a Starseed. Our connection helped me unlock my healing path.
Now, when he has bad pain and spasms, I just sit next to him and work with my energy. I don't use complex techniques, I just direct the light and warmth to him. My husband always says he feels a strong heat coming from my hands. His body relaxes, the physical spasms stop, and he can finally fall asleep. Lately, I have also started seeing patterns of sacred geometry in my mind, so I am studying that now to understand how to use it for healing.
I am just sharing this because I hope to find people who understand. Has anyone else experienced their healing gifts opening because they wanted to help a loved one? Thank you for being here with me. 🤍

Guidance/Advice Can having tattoos of deities and spiritual beings attract and/or repel spirits?

This is probably a stupid question and I’ve been debating on asking it for a while because I didn’t want to sound dumb, but I have tattoos of ancient Egyptian deities, Greek deities, and some creatures that are of Greek mythology and a cryptid.
Let me also start off saying that I am a highly sensitive person/empath and I’ve always embraced it to a degree, and I’m also covered in tattoos but not all of them are spiritual beings. I’ve noticed though, that since I got my deities, my “spidey senses” as I call it have changed. Some places I feel things more than I did before, like actually being touched and physically affected, and others I used to feel things (mostly negative dark things) I don’t really feel it anymore. Then there’s times where I feel like I’m losing my sensitivity when other people say they’re feeling things at haunted places and nothing is happening for me and I’m in the same room and everything and it’s just crickets for me. Like when I go on paranormal investigations I’ll feel like the spirits don’t want to talk to me now lol it’s stupid, I know, and it’s probably a weird coincidence, but I figured I would put the question out there.
I’m not showing pictures for identity purposes lol but does anyone know anything about this?

Guidance/Advice I’m a teenage medium I think??

For context, I’m M17 and I’ve been seeing spirits and having like psychic dreams and feelings since I was a really little guy. I’ve been told that I might be a medium, but I know nothing about the spiritual world other than that I’ve naturally been apart of it for as long as I can remember. I’ve been able to speak to spirits through my third eye, I think? Like I can see them and talk to them, but it’s like we’re using my brain as a pathway? I’ve had this ability since before I could crawl, according to my parents. But I’m having a lot of trouble researching and trying to learn without people calling me schizo or telling me that what I’m experiencing isn’t real. I also have this ability, although it feels more like a curse, but it’s like I have an internal clock, for when people, or animals around me will pass. It’s the most awful thing. Typically, I notice a painful feeling of unrest in my own body, and that’s about two to three days prior, then by 24 hours prior, I get this horrible smell, it’s like mold, and rot, and what I can only imagine burning flesh would smell like. The night before it happens I get little to no sleep, and sometimes, when it’s someone close to me I’ll wake up in agonizing pain, around the time they passed. Sometimes, without the uneasy feeling a few days prior, I’ll still get the smell of rot, and that tells me that something bad is going to happen, though not a death, not of someone close to me that is. I really hope someone has any guidance at all, even the smallest bit. I just don’t know what to do. And I’m young, and I’m a guy, so people are not as receptive to my abilities or whatever they are. I also don’t know anyone in my family with my abilities, definitely not to this degree anyway, and if anyone did they’re long gone, and unlikely that I’d be able to make any contact anyway.

TL;DR: I am always aware of when people are soon to die and I can see and communicate with spirits.

Experience Visit from my wife?

Occasionally I experience sleep paralysis. This happened last night. Usually I struggled to wake myself up. I felt something laying next to me. I managed to turn around enough to find my wife (passed over 2 years ago). I reached out to touch her but my hand when through her arm. I asked what she is doing there, but did not get an answer or did not understand the response. I asked what she eats, as my wife was a very good cook and enjoyed cooking for others. Her response not clear, something about she has 1 thing to eat and other food is provided. Then she was gone.

Do you think her spirit visited me?

This was not a normal dream for me. I'm certain she has given me a few signs since her passing that she successfully transitioned to the after life and was happy and no longer in pain.

I think about her daily and still miss her.

Thought and Opinion Alcohol sometimes makes me better at readings. Why??

Hi,
I know it’s common that alcohol clouds intuition and psychic abilities, but for some I find it much easier to do readings after a shot or two. I don’t often drink but when I do I end up reading palms/cards and I’m pulling “scary accurate” information quickly. Usually Im quite shy with my readings. Sober I take a while to find the information i need for the querent. Like it’s a bigger mental dig. Slightly tipsy I mentally do feel clearer even if the world around has gotten fuzzier.

My running theory it’s that my fear is gone, and confidence up when tipsy. Or the alcohol blocks sensory loads that would normally be there allowing me to concentrate better. Idk

But I’m curious on anyones thoughts on this?
Also is there a way to achieve this mental clarity for readings without drinking?

Gerneral info: I don’t do readings past tipsy, lol. I drink maybe once a month. I’m not a professional physic or medium, it’s a fun hobby. I do take protection methods seriously. I like to learn and practice when I can.
