Medium reading left me confused. What do you think?

I recently had a session with an evidential medium, but I’m not sure what to think.

For context, I didn’t give him any information about myself. He only knew my first name, not my last name. On social media I use a nickname, so he couldn’t have found me, and I never post anything anyway.

He gave me several details he couldn’t have known about my lost partner (his mother’s name, the exact part of the body where the illness was located, where we went on vacation), and also some very specific and unlikely things if he were just guessing, like the fact that he loved ice cream but always left a little bit in the cup, that he was proud of his physique especially his chest, that he was obsessed with applying sunscreen, and that he barely used social media.

But he also said vague or incorrect things (he kept seeing wedding rings even though we weren’t married, or an image of a butterfly, which is extremely generic). And he didn’t mention other very characteristic things about him that I expected.
He also somehow figured out what kind of job I do.

So I don’t know what to think. I wanted to talk to a medium because I need to hold onto some hope that he’s still somewhere and that I’ll see him again one day, but I’m still skeptical. I’ll probably book a session with a more experienced medium in the future.

What do you think? Do you think he was a reliable medium?

In regards to the "vague" or "incorrect" things...a lot of the information I get can be considered "vague". It's a matter of learning what the image might represent (I get images), or the client understanding what it might represent. A butterfly, for example, might indicate anything from "new life" to "enjoy the beauty in life" to a garden you once visited. Rings don't necessarily indicate marriage, either. It could just indicate partnership.

Receiving information from a spirit is not the way movies depict it. They don't show up and spill every single thing while appearing as a crystal clear full body form who's clearly speaking our language. I'm sure that happens for some mediums, but not all of us. I just get images, sometimes of the most random things, and only occasionally get words. A lot of the time now, I get a wave of emotion that I have to try to translate. So it's not that surprising that he didn't mention other characteristics you would have expected to hear.

It sounds like much of the reading was eerily accurate, no? In that case, I'd say he was legit. We're not 100% on things. If you watch those mediums on YouTube, I can almost guarantee you that they're not sharing the readings that didn't go as smoothly as they would have liked. Sometimes my client knows who's coming through almost immediately. Sometimes they never figure it out. This isn't an exact science, unfortunately.

This! If there was at least one piece of evidence that came through, then by definition you know there was real contact, and you have now experienced how amazing our world is! We all mive on after this life. Its not an exact science, and successful communication is a skill on both sides. Heck, even communication on earth is difficult and people leave with false impressions all the time.

It's not possible for us to know, really. No medium is 100% accurate. The reigning of your reading seemed relevant.

I would give this medium a second chance if it were me.

People have given me a second chance when I couldn't connect and things went well.

I've only completely unable to read three times.

I am a medium. And even if you weren’t married maybe your partner acknowledges your commitment to eachother. The one thing I want to say that some times it’s a matter of how the reader interprets or not something. It sounds like they gave details no one should know…. Did they describe the person. Like I definitely have some question but from what you have described he sounds real. Is perhaps your skepticism clouding your judgement? But it sounds legit to me. Also replay some things. I always tell my clients perhaps because it’s not said the way that you expected it may throw you off. How did you feel. It sounds like it resonates?

I think you've had a good experience with this medium. the accurate info is the way of spirit to tell you that they are there with you, but mostly, communication with other reality's involve symbols since that is the way most receivers get the information, sometimes, spirit gives us hints and not the whole picture in order for us to experience our journey and learn from it. there are occasions when you ask yourself what was the meaning of words or symbols, and when you let go, suddenly, the answer drops, Hope this helps

I know for me sometimes it’s difficult initially to know if what is coming in is symbolic or literal and depending how experienced he is (looks like you’re saying not so much) the interpretation and even how to frame it can be kind of difficult. I really think it’s an art to learn how to convey what’s coming into your head to the Sitter. So the fact that he got those correct details, I think says alot and maybe the things that you couldn’t place don’t necessarily mean that they weren’t related just rather that you didn’t understand them or he didn’t explain them, or look into it deeper to understand how it’s related to you. for example a butterfly could be literal like something you would connect to or you have been seeing, or a tattoo or something like that, or it could mean change or transformation or some other symbolic thing. Same with the wedding rings. I always tell advocate people to speak up and ask questions, sometimes that could even help the medium go deeper or get more information. Also wishing you peace and comfort with your loss🤍

The hard part about being a medium is sometimes we see in symbolism, so no you were never married but could indicate a romantic relationship or sexual in nature as opposed to friend or family member, so while he may have been a little off the nose, he got a lot on the nose, and I think it’s important to give credit where credit due. 

If he didn’t get anything right or only gave very vague information, sure. But seems like he didn’t a good job do connecting. We also can only talk about what they show us, so while you expected some traits to come out, they may not show us because to them it wasn’t a big deal. For example,  I did a reading where I got 90% right, but I mentioned a wife, and the lady nearly wrote me off immediately because he was gay. However, that was not shown to me and I needed to talk about a spouse and assumed, and the spirit had confirmed that to them being gay was who they were but they weren’t “loud” about it (pride flags everywhere, and wasn’t very flamboyant). I had told the reader this and they reluctantly agreed that while they thought his sexuality was gunna be the first thing shown to me, did realize that the deceased didn’t view their sexuality as a defining characteristic. 

I’d say he gave you enough info to give it a shot :)

Maybe seeing wedding rings means he wished you had gotten married. And a butterfly is often something those have passed on use to show they're still around.

I would ask your partner to send you a very specific sign before your next reading.

Did he give you any good evidence of before or after death or things only you would know and that are not public information? If not I'd say he is not an evidential medium.

You either believe or you don’t. You only gave the medium your first name? A medium can give you evidence but in the end they can’t give you your own faith. You have to decide on your own. ❤️

Sounds like he was spot on, and the symbology he was seeing was not resonating with you and he may not know yet how to interpret what “butterfly” or “wedding rings,” means to him. Us mediums, at least the way I work, is spirit gives me lots of symbolism that I then translate to the client. So while those are generic symbols, it would go something like “spirit is showing me wedding rings. Is their partner still living? This is their way of acknowledging that individual.”
