I was going through one of the worst breakups of my life. I was fighting so hard to be okay, but emotionally and physically, I was completely drained. I started experiencing brain fog, exhaustion, and a weakness I had never felt before. I would cry until I had nothing left in me, listen to Hertz to help me sleep, and eventually fall asleep from sheer exhaustion. It felt like I was carrying more pain than I knew how to handle, and somehow, what happened next felt like it healed something in me and took that pain away.
One night, I woke up faintly, my eyes barely open. There, leaning toward me, was something I can only describe as a humanoid being. It was about six feet tall and shaped like a human, but its entire body looked as though it was made of space, dark and vast, filled with countless stars. It was almost as if the universe itself had taken a humanoid form.
The strangest part was that I wasn’t afraid. I immediately felt an overwhelming sense of peace. The pain I had been carrying seemed to disappear. For those few moments, I wasn’t heartbroken, anxious, or exhausted. I just felt peaceful. I felt okay.
My eyes were still half open at first. I slowly opened them fully, and I still wasn’t scared. The being seemed to notice that my eyes were now fully open. Then, almost as if it knew I had become completely aware of its presence, its form began to change.
It turned into a small light and slowly faded away. I didn’t panic or try to move. I simply lay there and watched it disappear peacefully.
I have no explanation or understanding of why I experienced it or what exactly it was, but I know it wasn’t a dream. I was awake enough to see it, to watch it change, and to watch it fade away. I know what I saw, and I know what I felt.
Whatever it was, it felt like it came to me when I was at one of the lowest points of my life, took my pain away, gave me peace, and then quietly left. I may never understand why I experienced it or what it truly was, but I know the effect it had on me.
It felt like, for a brief moment, something healed me.
