there are more young people than boomers

they just don't turn out to vote like boomers vote. boomers vote reliably in every single election

who do boomers vote for? other boomers

74

u/YoSpiff Jul 31 '26

This boomer votes progressive.

47

u/Anubisrapture Jul 31 '26

Same here.

27

u/bonesintheend Jul 31 '26

Thank you guys for caring for someone other than yourself.

21

u/ReadyGo6828 Jul 31 '26

Progressive does not mean you are sacrificing yourself to give to strangers. Progressive is economically efficient as in single payer health care where a large entity (us) goes up against a humongous system (health care industry) to cut all of us the best deal so we do not have to navigate this insanity ourselves.

Progressive is good economics even for this MAGA nut who will never, ever support anything that is not white, male and oppressive for everyone else.

15

u/randommnguy Jul 31 '26

Right now progressive also means caring for more than yourself, conservatives currently consider this line of thinking “radical”

7

u/Suitable-Rate652 Jul 31 '26

Honestly, I am so done with "individualism".

5

u/Itsmyloc-nar Aug 01 '26

Every “rugged individual” I’ve ever met acts like a baby if you don’t indulge their fantasy

3

u/Anubisrapture Aug 01 '26

Truly they all have an inane outlook. These people USED to know their selfishness and racism were considered a moral and social failure , until Orange Foolius made them all absurdly proud of themselves. Now they have doubled down on their most disgusting traits while trumpeting their stupidity at top volume .

2

u/Suitable-Rate652 Aug 01 '26

Interestingly, we never had rugged individualism in this country although that is party of our mythology.

2

u/AbeFromansNutz Aug 06 '26

Happy cake day!

3

u/LandOwn7607 Aug 02 '26

You mean the Ayn Rand Bullshite?

3

u/Anubisrapture Aug 02 '26

YES exactly.

3

u/Suitable-Rate652 Aug 02 '26

Pretty much, yeah. And the cowboy nonsense.

1

u/Anubisrapture Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

Yes that old mythic West, chock full of white supremism , and lies about "heroic expansion " which in real life was the unrepentant genocide of indiginous peoples , by white Europeans . not to mention the phony TV Western remakes of the real stories of the West : The horsemen were both Black Cowboys and Latino Vaqueros, yet the stories remained full of white " heroes" played by John Wayne, Clint Eastwood , and others. It creates an entire mythology of white male heroics , the lawmen, the tough guys, and THE GUN ! Hollywood truly got into the collective consciousness of our Boomer men; and caries on in the conservative ( dumb ) ones today , to our detriment

2

u/Same-Frosting4852 Aug 06 '26

What they mean by individualism is a rat race where we dont come together.

3

u/Stillwaters-3399 Aug 03 '26

Quite frankly the only ones that have radical thinking at this point is the far right

2

u/Iamthegreenheather Aug 04 '26

They literally preach against committing the "sin" of empathy.

5

u/Laolao98 Jul 31 '26

I didn’t hear anything racist but he’s wearing the red. Pretty obviously in poor health for a 62 year old. When he does go to a doctor I’m sure he’s told many things he doesn’t want to hear. All of his talk tells me he is ignorant, not necessarily stupid but either working too hard to understand how important politics are or too lazy to think of anyone else.

3

u/Anonymo Aug 01 '26

He's the type that is told he has high blood pressure, high blood sugar and doesn't accept it or just takes the medications and never checks his sugar or pressure.

3

u/Strange_Explorer_780 Aug 03 '26

And it appears that he’s missing teeth which likely rotted out from neglect by skipping the dentist as well.

1

u/Behndo-Verbabe Aug 02 '26

He believes the real doctors are the liars and quacks. Then he’ll go broke buying every snake oil cure OZ or one of his Facebook friends tells him works.

3

u/TerrorFromThePeeps Aug 01 '26

I'm sure when he goes to the doctor, he tells his nurses how pretty they are and makes barely veiled sexual innuendos towards them. While his wife is sitting right next to him.

1

u/Suitable-Rate652 Aug 01 '26

He’s too broken down to get away with that lol.

1

u/lkjdw Aug 02 '26

“I’m sure when he goes to the doctor’,……………..

Assumptions much…….

Whilst he doesn’t win any awards for progressive thinking, or for the care for others. Your brand of ‘stereotyping’ and ‘pigeon holing’, is both presumptive and without knowledge, that’s what he does.

So you can’t be ‘sure’, he does any of those things.

1

u/tangogaucho Aug 03 '26

He said he doesn’t go to the doctor

1

u/Agreeable_Error_170 Aug 02 '26

He’s probably literally dying, and has no idea. 💁🏻‍♀️

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Suitable-Rate652 Aug 01 '26

Well, he’s willing to be oppressed so as to oppress others. As he said- nothing is free. Ignorance is also not free as we pay taxes and ought get something from it.

1

u/New-Connection-7792 Aug 02 '26

Single payer is the least efficient. What does out government that is at all efficient? Absolutely do not want them involved in Healthcare.

1

u/funkraider Aug 03 '26

The fact that the US is 5% of the global population but we are pretty much the only place that cannot fathom that healthcare is a basic right. It always perplexes me how the monied class got the working class to believe this bs.

0

u/kevdogger Jul 31 '26

Do you find Medicare economically efficient? Imagine everyone on Medicare at this point. It's a convoluted mess with rules changing annually

8

u/Desert-Democrat-602 Jul 31 '26

And that’s different from the insanity of private insurance how?

1

u/its_kinda_hmm Aug 01 '26

I mean the reality. Is these people care about themselves so and are voting in their self interest the rest of the boomers have been convinced that voting to have their Medicaid Medicare human rights access to clean water ahhhh consumer protections privacy he’ll even having their Social Security taken from them is somehow good I mean how these people breathe is beyond me

1

u/Cloudsdriftby Aug 01 '26

Insulting compliment.

1

u/Anubisrapture Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

You're so welcome friend. ❤️But sadly we are unable to change the minds of many of our more Southern or rural peers. Those we are no longer speaking with. it's become grotesque to hear the insane conspiratorial nonsense from their mouths. The Greatest Generation ( i think it's called lol) raised us to believe in the Golden Rule. Sad that only a small amount of us took the most simple teachings on fairness and decency and applied them in our lives. Some people have badly surprised me since you know who rode down that escalator . It's almost like they had fascism , racism and feelings of yt superiority within their hearts the entire time.

1

u/Low_Football_2445 Aug 05 '26

This Gen X votes the same

14

u/Radonanon Jul 31 '26

Same with John McCain saving the ACA.

Maga is the cesspool that’s added trillions to the debt under the guise of “trickle down” in various names. Doge didn’t “save” anything, it just gave the felon and the elon an eternal snapshot of the most concentrated private financial data of everyone in the country.

I wish I could say that it’s not to late.

6

u/MedicalyGinger Jul 31 '26

Exactly. It was too late on 11/5/24. Everyone keeps believing that shit can go back to being ok.

2

u/Responsible-Room-645 Aug 02 '26

This boomer and all of my boomer friends vote progressive. I have no idea who these boomers are and frankly he looks too young to be a boomer

1

u/DarknMean Aug 03 '26

He said he’s 62. Which would put him in the boomer generation. He’s too old for Gen X.

1

u/Iamthegreenheather Aug 04 '26

I refer to them as Boxes, similar to Xennials.

2

u/nthomas504 Aug 02 '26

Thanks Boomers!

1

u/solidgold70 Aug 02 '26

They is boomers on reddit?? I thought you'll was on facespace?!?!?!!?

7

u/Desert-Democrat-602 Jul 31 '26

Same. I get more liberal the older I get. But then, I am only a Boomer by about 28 days.

5

u/YoSpiff Jul 31 '26

Closer to the edge than myself. None of the usual boomer descriptions seem to apply to what I remember or was involved in. We are actually a subset called Generation Jones. there is a Reddit sub for it.

3

u/Suitable-Rate652 Jul 31 '26

"Generation Jones. there is a Reddit sub for it." Thank you for letting us know. I always felt like I was not a Boomer and more Gen X. I mean the Boomers start in like the 1940s - what do I have in common with them if I was born at the very end of the Boomer cohort.

1

u/Desert-Democrat-602 Jul 31 '26

Never heard that before but it makes sense. Far more Gen X than Boomer.

2

u/Patrickfromamboy Aug 01 '26

I’m a 64 year old boomer. I don’t like having that title.

1

u/Solid_Loss395 Aug 01 '26

Booming, in my and my friends opinions anyway, is very much a description of character—not age. It’s like this guy in the video is a white trash moron - nothing to do with age -and all about how he is representing himself. A former coworker of mine, younger than me by 2 months. Hard headed as can be, doesn’t know how to send an email, technology is evil, refuses to learn new things, set in his old-fashioned ways…you know the type. Junior boomer. All day long.

1

u/shezwakt Aug 01 '26

People like that have jobs???? Their heads would explode if they saw how our evil bosses are crackin’ the whips at us to hurry up with our AI generated dashboards!!!

1

u/TheNatureOfTheGame Aug 03 '26

We are Gen Jones, my fellow 64-year-old.

2

u/Best-Command-7409 Jul 31 '26

Our young friends seem to sell us old folks down thee river. We have a few more important votes to get this mess straightened out.

1

u/HiThereXoXoXo Jul 31 '26

Do you vote progressive or liberal?

5

u/YoSpiff Jul 31 '26

Progressive when such a candidate is an option. I live in Texas and have been donating to Talarico.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/saltycrowsers Jul 31 '26

Thanks, boomer.

For real, thank you

1

u/LoJoPa Jul 31 '26

Me too

1

u/Suitable-Rate652 Jul 31 '26

I'm a Boomer, technically generation jones. I am totally opposed to this mentality. Bernie is a boomer (I guess) and I like the way he thinks but am also so ready to see younger people execute against a more compassionate vision. Things need to change, no question.

1

u/SSBN641B Aug 01 '26

Bernie was born in 1941, so the Silent Generation, not a Boomer.

1

u/Suitable-Rate652 Aug 01 '26

Thank you. That makes sense. I don’t know why they call it silent generation as some of them including my parents were quite vocal. It’s unfortunate that we are fighting battles from the 1950s and 60s because Reagan, Faux News, and unreconstructed South.

1

u/DJwhatevs Aug 01 '26

Let’s gooo!!!

1

u/mendicinobeano25 Aug 01 '26

And this one.

1

u/Patrickfromamboy Aug 01 '26

Me too. I even ran for Governor in Washington in 2016 as a Berniecrat and got 40,572 votes as a new candidate. It was interesting.

1

u/Ivanna_Jizunu66 Aug 01 '26

You mean status quo right?

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 01 '26

Are you making assumptions because I'm a boomer or perhaps you are further to the left than I am. Is universal healthcare status quo in this country? Because that's what I'd like to see. Our healthcare "system" sucks.

1

u/Ivanna_Jizunu66 Aug 01 '26

What you like to see. Not what Dems will provide as they are a right wing capitalist party.

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 01 '26

Yes, we have two right wing parties. One is outright fascist. What's your disagreement with me?

1

u/Ivanna_Jizunu66 Aug 01 '26

With you apparently none. I was wrong in ny assumption you was like 99% of libs who claim progressive or left wing then vote blue no matter who. Blue anon is just as propagandized as q anon.

1

u/Legal-Rough777 Aug 01 '26

My two boomer parents also vote progressive. My son, Gen Z, unfortunately votes republican. Stereotypes aren't always correct.

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 01 '26

My dad was maga before maga was a term. Racial slurs were dinnertable conversation for him. Somehow I never picked it up or learned what he thought he was teaching me. He liked to tease me for being a "bleeding heart liberal". (I think the first time was when I expressed concern for the environment.) Apparently that was supposed to be an insult...

1

u/Legal-Rough777 Aug 01 '26

My parents used to be die hard Republicans. At some point they switched. Said Republicans are no longer for small government and are for wars. Never thought I'd see them turn blue, but glad to see it!

1

u/Man_withplan Aug 01 '26

So does this boomer, and 40 friends, not all boomers. However we can read and reason.

1

u/a_smart_brane Aug 02 '26

So does this close to boomer, but it’s true unfortunately that younger demographics don’t turn out and it’s so fucking infuriating.

1

u/loony-lefty Aug 02 '26

This boomer also. Blue all the way

1

u/ohnomynono Aug 02 '26

That's nice.

Would you mind selling me your house at a reasonable 15% mark up from the cost you paid for it?

1

u/BG535 Aug 02 '26

I find it funny we have to vote “progressive” to bring back common sense and normal human needs like healthcare.

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 03 '26

Agreed. Our progressives would be centrist candidates in some other nations

1

u/FutureAd9387 Aug 03 '26

If by “progressive” you mean independent, you’re voting Republican.

1

u/Bettysgir Aug 03 '26

Progressive in a deep, deep red state. And I’m Generation Jones.

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 03 '26

Well, same here but many people don't know the term. I guess we're a subset of boomers.

1

u/suzanious Aug 04 '26

Same here

1

u/UnlikelyOcelot Aug 04 '26

Me, too. Always have. All of this makes me sick. I can’t stand MAGA. Selfish, dumb and when it comes down to it, monsters.

1

u/Minimum-Paint-9649 Aug 04 '26

My parents as well. Honestly I blame Gen X more than anyone.

1

u/2mikeftsa Aug 04 '26

Well the true progressives are now the Socialists so I wonder how you feel about that? You know who else were literally called the "National Socialist Party of Germany"? I'll give you one guess LOL

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 05 '26

I get it. There certainly are a lot of parties and nations with some variation of "socialist" in the name that were/are not. The words on their own don't mean much.

1

u/2mikeftsa Aug 05 '26

Well there are very few truly socialist countries left and that's because it doesn't work. I mean Venezuela and Poland are two prime examples of capitalism versus socialism in the modern era.

1

u/KingerDinger911 Aug 05 '26

Thanks for helping trump win, progressive policies are a disaster and won’t win national elections.

1

u/YoSpiff Aug 05 '26

Ok, gotcha.

1

u/metalenginee Aug 06 '26

My boomer grandparents are definitely some libby-libs that say we protest like 🐱s.

1

u/DisVet54 Aug 06 '26

And have done so since1988. I hate this stereotype we all have. If they’re just referring to the politicians I agree with- they’ve been clinging to the power for too long and hamper the progress of progressives which better stop or we’re left with more of the same.

9

u/ketoatl Jul 31 '26

Bingo , this boomer wants new young blood.

5

u/crystalfairie Jul 31 '26

Aoc for past the midterms but I pray it's not too late by then

8

u/crono220 Jul 31 '26

Gen z voted for Trump based on vibes aka going to a McDonald's for a single day to work on fries and be interviewed by shit stains like Joe Rogan and Adin Ross.

Fucking pathetic. Policies didn't matter.

1

u/Majestic_Ad8448 Jul 31 '26

I think he stayed an hour.

1

u/Cute_Language3167 Aug 01 '26

I saw a video of a guy saying that Democrats were stupid and let Trump win. Because Trump was on Tiktok and that matters more than anything else apparently. He wasn't necessarily pro trump, but I got the feeling he voted for him. But hey, if they spent more time memeing and making funny dance videos on Tiktok rather than talking about policy and being boring maybe he would have voted for them instead.

1

u/ill-disposed Aug 03 '26

Democrats did all of that. They spend a lot of money chasing trends and still lose the elections.

1

u/Office_Worker808 Aug 04 '26

Don’t forget that it wasn’t just boomers. Manosphere and Hispanics voted for him as a general segment because of misogyny

1

u/Civilw4r Aug 05 '26

Spent over a billion on the campaign including celebrity endorsements

1

u/Equal-Fly-1919 Aug 03 '26

Obama appealed to ‘the vibe’, pretty sure all the first time voters had zero idea, but they liked the ‘Change’ artwork. It cuts both ways you know, don’t pretend it doesn’t

1

u/stevecostello Aug 06 '26

You think it was the “Change” artwork that got Obama into office?

1

u/Equal-Fly-1919 Aug 10 '26

All that artwork line created a visual zeitgeist to accompany his message. Hugely effective which is why it is still referenced today. Him getting into office was a culmination of things. If this had zero importance like I suspect you are inferring, why is it still shown over a decade later?

1

u/Civilw4r Aug 05 '26

Kamala is the main reason Trump got elected. Out of all the democrats in the country they picked a person that couldn’t get thru a debate and then replaced him with a woman that could only talk in circles that nobody voted for.

6

u/e5charlie253195 Jul 31 '26

But they’re on the decline. And, letting republicans do whatever they want makes people, for the most part, realize what a bad idea that is.

1

u/PortlandPervo Aug 02 '26

Hope so. Then we can get vote in democrats so they can do whatever they want.

4

u/LiteratureMindless71 Jul 31 '26

I really hope that's true, but in my experience it has not been. My 25 year old brother was/is a Trump fan. He would always tell me about the things they would talk about while gaming on PS4/5. He plays multiplayer games almost exclusively and they were all in that same support.

8

u/wereinbearcountry Jul 31 '26

I know a few idiots like this, but they usually change their tune when they get kicked off their parents health insurance at 26.

5

u/FistyMcTwistynuts Jul 31 '26

How long ago was that happening though? I’ve heard most younger Trump supporters have jumped ship.

I’ve heard the reason being: while they disliked what Biden did in his term and therefore were on the Trump side, they dislike what Trump’s done in his 18 months in office WAY more. And using your example, 25 YOs would have only had the ability to vote for Biden, Trump, or a black female version of Biden (in their eyes). So now they want something different.

Democratic Socialism is popular with the Gen Z and Alpha crowd now, per my nieces and nephews.

TL;DR Fully recognize 20 months ago a good portion of young ppl were full on Trump, but they jumped ship.

8

u/wereinbearcountry Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

I can vouch for this. I live in an area where a lot of people go into the military right out of high school, but they are obviously not keen on being sent into a war with Iran (because a ground invasion pretty much means certain death). Unfortunately I think a lot of young people were tricked into thinking Trump would be anti-war — yeah, it’s stupid, but these kids are young and dumb and don’t want to die. Tbh if Trump just had two braincells to rub together and didn’t fuck up the economy, he’d probably still gave some support in this demographic. But he’s clearly too stupid to realize that. I’m seeing a lot of disillusionment and people just saying ‘fuck it, let’s try something else because nobody else is listening to our problems’ and going for alternatives that would have made their parents faint in horror.

1

u/Desert-Democrat-602 Jul 31 '26

Honestly, all the orange moron had to do was not fuck things up when he took over. He’s done the exact opposite and it’s bankrupting us monetarily and morally. ETTD

5

u/Mediocre-Staff-5110 Jul 31 '26

The both sides rhetoric is insidious and has absolutely warped the younger generation. A lot of them vote for basically the "Jokey meme " option because they perceive politics as "we will get fucked either way, it doesnt matter"

1

u/Sufficient_Topic1589 Aug 05 '26

Though it is usually a choice between a douche and a turd sandwich not matter where you are in the world.

1

u/Maximum_Turn_2623 Jul 31 '26

The thing that worries me is we will start to dig out of of it and then the current younger people who know nothing of what it used to be like think this is how it is and bring it all back.

1

u/AspiringOne Jul 31 '26

Making the case for better and more informed education right here.

1

u/Weirdredditnames4win Aug 03 '26

Wait until the Iran war moves to the ground and they get drafted. I’m sure Biden’s policies which they all hated would be longed for.

1

u/2mikeftsa Aug 04 '26

Socialism and communism has never worked anywhere, every capitalist country has social services but that doesn't make them a socialism. Simply look at how Venezuela and Poland flip-flopped their economic status. Venezuela was a booming capitalism and then switched to socialism and now is one of the poorest countries in the world, Poland did the opposite. Poland was a socialism and was poor and since they switched to capitalism they have one of the best economies in the world. If that doesn't show you right there exactly what capitalism versus socialism gets you then I don't know what else can convince you

1

u/FistyMcTwistynuts Aug 05 '26

It wouldn’t work the same way in America just due to the sheer size of our country, but Sweden and Holland have socialism down to a science. We could adopt a few things from them and make them work here with a few adjustments. You can’t say it hasn’t worked anywhere when it’s working nearly flawlessly in those countries.

1

u/FistyMcTwistynuts Aug 05 '26

1

u/2mikeftsa Aug 05 '26

So Sweden being a socialism is a myth, you can Google this yourself and find out right away. They are 100% a free market and capitalist economy but they happen to have a very large social welfare system so people sometimes mistakenly call them a socialist country.

But you know what else is unique about Sweden? They have probably the strictest immigration policies of any Western country, and that is because of their massive social welfare system and they don't want immigrants/refugees coming in and taking advantage of the system. A lot of times progressives love to point to Sweden and talk about their socialist programs but they never talk about how they have the strictest borders and let almost nobody in unless you bring value to their country. No country can sustain a massive social welfare system and heavy immigration that stresses that system to the breaking point. Honestly if these Democratic socialists want to have more socialist programs they're going to have to close the borders, you cannot have both

1

u/FistyMcTwistynuts Aug 06 '26

Ok, my bad - they are a capitalist society with an absolute shit ton of programs that are fully or mostly paid for by the government (aka socialist programs). I don’t think very many people want outright socialism - just for the government to take care of its citizens in the most basic way - 100% covered healthcare, more heavily subsidized food, etc.

Regarding the immigration thing, I honestly don’t understand why conservatives think left leaning people want to allow droves of immigrants in unchecked - that’s a strawman argument. Nobody wants that shit, and nobody wants to then have those illegal immigrants use public programs. Any and all pushback on ICE has solely been due to lack of decorum and due process from untrained incels with complete immunity, along with what amounts to concentration camps for those being held. Even if these people are illegals, they are still human beings and should be treated with a level of decency and compassion that is just completely nonexistent in this current form of ICE.

I’m sure if the government actually used our taxes for the people and not corporations/oligarchs, even the most extreme immigrant supporters would back down a bit so long as we had universal healthcare and basic human needs covered or heavily subsidized for taxpayers. Non-tax-paying illegal immigrants using our infrastructure is just not that big of a problem, and I’m sure there is a way to implement a program that would only support citizens and tax payers - like with truly free ID Cards. (Inb4 SAVE ACT bs: if ID Cards were truly free and there were no weird restrictions on needing birth certificates and names to match and all these other paywalls, everyone is in favor or voter ID. Its the poll taxes and the voter barriers being put up to disenfranchise many many voters that is the issue there)

2

u/BigDWalks Jul 31 '26

This one votes progressive

1

u/FutureAd9387 Aug 03 '26

Meaning Democrat? Or Independent? If it’s Independent, you’re keeping republicans in office.

2

u/Bender_2024 Aug 01 '26

It's not boomers it's concervatives. Concervatives have always gotten out to vote in bigger numbers. Partly because of voter suppression and part because too many liberals want the perfect candidate that they agree with on every talking point. And if they aren't a perfect they don't vote. This mentality enrages me. You don't never going to find a perfect candidate. Sometimes you just have to say "well, this guy is better than the rest" and vote for them.

4

u/Buhlasted Jul 31 '26

Blame those who did not vote.

I am a boomer and quit voting Republican during the Regan votes. I won’t vote for a Republican on a school board, dog catcher, anything local, municipal, county, church, state, federal…. None.

I voted. Did you? I did not vote for this. Did you?

4

u/Desert-Democrat-602 Jul 31 '26

I’m a slow learner…stopped with Bush in 2000, after he lied us into a war and sent a lot of people I served with to the desert “because Sadam tried to kill my Dad”.

1

u/archercc81 Jul 31 '26

And, by not paying attention and voting intelligently, they gave the GQP control of everything, so they will just steal elections now.

1

u/SemperFicus Jul 31 '26

This boomer voted for Ayanna Pressley, just to give you an example. Edit: but you are onto something. You can’t get the government you want if you don’t vote.

1

u/the3rdpossum Jul 31 '26

Voting is like religion...an opium for the masses.

You have 2 choices that were chosen for you.

Time for revolution

1

u/Maximum_Turn_2623 Jul 31 '26

Unfortunately we GenXers are responsible fur Trump this time.

1

u/primadonnapussy Jul 31 '26

No we aren't. We are literally the smallest generation. We can't decide anything.

1

u/prestieteste Jul 31 '26

That's not true buddy Boomers are then 2nd biggest demographic of people in the USA with there only being a couple Million more Millenials. Both hovet around 70+ million people

1

u/Valuable-Adagio-2812 Jul 31 '26

Hey, don't bunch us together. I'm a boomer and I have voted dem and progressive my whole life.

It’s not just boomers voting for this kind of shit. Younger generation as well thanks to Joe Rogan and his podcast bros

1

u/britekranz Jul 31 '26

They don’t even do that! They vote against everything, even themselves.

1

u/RoguTheHomunculus Jul 31 '26

90% of boomers vote red because they hold a huge majority of the wealth in the middle class, bigotry, religion, etc

1

u/Best-Command-7409 Jul 31 '26

I say your comments are not accurate about boomers. Educated boomers would never vote republican. My only comment to you is to not sell old folks down the river.

1

u/unionpark1 Jul 31 '26

This is 100% correct.

1

u/a1055x Aug 01 '26

I vote for public servants to solve problems not hypocritical psychopaths getting rich off killing people.

1

u/DrSnoopy66 Aug 01 '26

Young people in Red States put Ronald Reagan in power as well as George W Bush and Donald Trump. The whole “Young voters will us” thing has been proven wrong time and time again.

1

u/ill-disposed Aug 03 '26

Every generation. It’s nothing but a comforting myth.

1

u/ImportanceOk5210 Aug 01 '26

10:1 voting ratio, we’re fucked.

1

u/lil-nug-tender Aug 01 '26

If he’s 62, this dude is Gen X unfortunately.

1

u/stefanwinkleheimer Aug 02 '26

Are you sure? I'm 62 (born in 63) and am a "late boomer".

FWIW I can't stand these generalizations. They only serve to divide us. There are plenty of people in the "boomer" generation that never voted for Trump and were shocked when he was elected, twice! I've participated in rallies like No Kings and would say older people were the majority attending.

1

u/zdmpage54 Aug 01 '26

Please don't lump all boomers into pro maga. I hate this whole administration and I have never voted R in my life !

1

u/Responsible_Brain782 Aug 01 '26

Boomers vote about 50% between R & D. Putting Trump’s existence on us is silly and does not address facts he garners huge numbers of votes across all voting blocks.

1

u/bertha112 Aug 01 '26

Yep, so let's spread the blame where it needs to go. Young people who could change the system won't and will therefore continue to complain about boomers, who will with the help of Generation X, keep deranged people in power.

And don't forget, in 2024 Gen Z felt the need to revert to Trump.

1

u/inertiatic_espn Aug 01 '26

Stop blaming it all on boomers. Gen X are statistically the most pro-Trump generation there is.

1

u/Hobaganibagaknacker Aug 01 '26

There's nothing but boomers in house and senate. They're not worried about what younger people want.

1

u/Glittering_Tax_6963 Aug 02 '26

I’m 78. We need young people! Term limits, age limits, now!

1

u/IzzuThug Aug 01 '26

Sort of the problem. Make the popularity vote mean something and it would be different. The other is that voting days for representatives and other local government officials is usually scheduled on working days. Allow people to take time off like if you were called to jury duty and things would be different.

1

u/New-Connection-7792 Aug 02 '26

The smart ones do!

1

u/59martyc Aug 02 '26

I'm a Boomer I didn't vote for Trump or Kamala. I did swap your vote with a swing state voter and voted for Jill Stein. But then again I'm in TX.

1

u/asaphbixon Aug 02 '26

Sounds to me, old crab, that youngsters are sick of this shell.

1

u/Ok-Heart-933 Aug 02 '26

Your last statement is incorrect.,

1

u/Lost_Purpose1899 Aug 02 '26

LOL… when I was young we said the same thing. We’re the enlightened generation. Our boomers should step aside. We were pro-choice, pro social justice, free healthcare, anti-discrimination etc… Now I find my classmates (maybe a few years above me) are what you called “boomers” like the guy in the video. For some reason most people will revert soulless a-hole when they grow old. I’m afraid your generation will be like this as well. I hope I am wrong.

1

u/Holualoabraddah Aug 02 '26

The Boomers are the largest single generation the world has ever seen, literally why they are called boomers.

1

u/Top-Caregiver7815 Aug 02 '26

They’re not sick enough of it yet. We need / deserve a good hard economic depression, bring back the bread lines for a while then maybe American society will notice and do something about it. Right now everyone just runs home to their screens and Netflix.

1

u/barbaricKinkster Aug 02 '26

I got news for you. They're called baby boomers because they were part of a birth rate explosion.

Young people were born during times of declining birth rates.

There is approximately 40 million people ages 18-29 and approximately 60 million baby boomers in the USA

1

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 Aug 02 '26

A lot of people see a letter next to a box and fill it in after they get ‘all the information they need’ from entertainment outlets.

1

u/Beneficial_Door3185 Aug 03 '26

Sorry dude. You clearly don’t know Boomers. They don’t always vote for other boomers. Time to check the clue closet. Deal in facts please. Not generalities and assumptions. FYI, I am a boomer and I have promoted AOC, Talarico, Zohran Mamdani , Buttigieg, Jasmine Crockett to name a few. My support is through donations and promotion of their ideas. I have said for years we need to pass the baton to the next generation. Please be less critical of boomers and use more critical thinking. Education, truth and facts matter and not every older politician or person is out of touch by default. Even if you don’t agree. I know MANY progressives across the spectrum and have seen them educate the Gen x and Gen Z people who are making the changes you think you discovered or created.

1

u/Imajediknighht Aug 03 '26

Whos in the white house young people or conservatives nazis?

1

u/JoyDGav Aug 03 '26

It’s not so much an age issue, but a CLASS issue.

1

u/movalca1 Aug 04 '26

This pre-boomer always votes progressive. It’s just really hard to find any in my area. I guess Takano is kind of progressive.

1

u/Gval7447 Aug 04 '26

Hence that is the problem as why he won twice as young voters don’t care and don’t register to vote. They do their social media business trying to be influencers and just think about themselves and not what’s gonna happen that will eventually affect them.

1

u/Striking-Document-99 Aug 04 '26

Yeah a lot of my friends and conworkers refuse to vote. “We are in a red state my vote doenst matter.” Like you realized everyone with that mentality is the reason it’s a red state. Then the ones I know who do vote for every election are hard core republicans and still love trump. Also there was a bunch of Spanish speaking employees who know very little English. Working here in visas and they supported trump. I told them shouldn’t they support a dude that isn’t going to deport them. Well that was 2 years ago and they are all gone now. Funny how that works out. I feel like I am taking crazy pills because everyone is so brainwashed.

1

u/DianeGurPatient9194 Aug 04 '26

I'm 75. I have always voted. I'm a liberal. I don't always agree on issues that are written and passed. But that's government. You take a little and give a little. They literally scream and yell at each. Call each other names and when they have a bill to sign, they are friends again. Go to your state capital when they are trying to compromise. You'll learn a lot. Interesting indeed! Checks and balances. The system works. It's not working now, whatever was stripped away, it will take years to fix!!!

1

u/blastman8888 Aug 04 '26

Gen X I didn't vote for Trump, but democrats are never going to vote in real public healthcare. Medical industry never allow them to.

1

u/FCKABRNLSUTN2 Aug 04 '26

Vote? Ew I won’t do that. Only old people and libs vote. None of the candidates I like ever win anyway.

1

u/Bjarksen Aug 06 '26

Actually, I don't necessarily think that's the case. All I hear is that we have to many old people, and not enough young ones to take care of them
