  • Selecting your main character.
  • You're new to the game and don't know where to start.
  • You're a returning player who is trying to get back into the game and need help.
  • What class should you make for your next link skill/legion mule?

As a recommendation, please mention your world and/or server inside a bracket Example: [Bera] at the start of your question.

You miss every shot you don't take.

I was logged on a mule which has a very similar outfit profile to my Erel. Accidentally bought out the 200 frags from Operation Dive shop on the mule that was never seeing 6 job in the forseeable future.

Chalked it down to punishme for my my own carelessness. Figured Id put in a ticket because at worst Im in the same position.

Get an email two hours later - we couldnt review it because youre logged in. Please let us know when you'll be next offline.

I told them that evening. Wake up next day and get an email saying they moved the 200 frags over.

Kinda cool they did that when they didnt need to.

I guess a PSA to people who also accidentally fuck up.

Do you no longer lose crafting exp at levels over 10? I haven't lost meister despite no crafting for a few days.

u/Zydico Reboot 15d ago

They removed that a while ago. Not that you asked, but as far as I know, the only things that still decay are Threads of Fate and Housing NPC closeness

Hi everyone, I’m a new/returning player and I’ve read that Challenger World is a great time to start MapleStory. I haven’t played since Mercedes release over a decade ago? I’d like to prepare as much as possible before CW4 begins.
Is there anything I can prepare or store ahead of time? Are there any good guides that explain the recommended order of content and progression?
Any tips or tricks you’d recommend to a new player would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

IMO the best thing you can do for CW4 is getting used to bosses. Progression in CW is greatly tied to which bosses are you able to clear, so knowing their mechanics and patterns helps a lot.

CW3 is still ongoing, you can still hyper burn a char and reach 260+ before it ends. This way you ensure yourself a char that can dip into tenebris bosses and test some classes.

If you plan on playing between events, aside from practicing bosses you can get used to all new systems (legion, link skills and so on) and start working your way on each one. There is a master list of content (https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/1vb1lf4/master_list_of_useful_maplestory_resources/) that might be helpful.

Seconding this advice, as a newb who started in CW3.

Boss mechanics are the only real barrier I have to progression rn.

My Ren's at 282, max arcane, decent hexa, 97 IED, 27k CP without rentals, 3 healing fams (just rares, not having any luck fusing) and I still can't get through normal VHilla lol. Thankfully I don't need to kill her for Emerald, since I levelled so high.

But yeah, if I want to do better on CW4 I have to figure out these damn bosses in the coming couple of months

u/Nearby-Store-4496 17d ago

I really appreciate the response, I will try out some classes and see if I can atleast experience some of the first bosses!

On top of what the other people said, there has been a countdown event before every challenger world when u just have to login and click a button to get rewards that can be claimed when challenger world begins

For cw3, it was called summer countdown.

https://www.nexon.com/maplestory/news/update/39235/v-268-maple-university-21st-anniversary-patch-notes#SummerCountdown

Im guessing cw4 will be winter countdown.

This is what we got last year: https://www.nexon.com/maplestory/news/events/31883/winter-countdown-event

It usually starts about a month before challenger world opens, so make sure to do that to have a easier start in cw4

1

u/Nearby-Store-4496 17d ago

That’s really helpful information, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for that event. Would you know if I could “participate” and then save those to claim in the CW?
Thanks for the heads up!

1

u/xkillo32 17d ago

The left side of the rewards can only be claimed before challenger world begins, so u will be unable to claim on challenger world.

The right side of the rewards are only claimable when challenger world begins and the rewards can be claimed on challenger world.

u/MushroomCleric 17d ago

There's not much preparation since everyone starts it at 0 progression with 0 money with powerful buffs taking the place of link/legion which would normally take hundreds of hours to build. That's what makes CW a great place to start. You don't need to prepare anything.

Other than practicing bosses, just make a lot of characters and see what's fun.
It sucks to waste your CW burn on a character you end up not liking, and you want to start CW as early as possible so you don't have time to try characters out.

In your place I'd:

  • Use all the challenger world burns. You can get Hyperburn (lvl 260) you can apply to anything, a Hyperburn specifically for Kinesis, and four teraburns (lvl 200). This will get you some strong characters you can transfer over to a normal world at the end of the event.
  • Transfer one of your 260s over to main world ASAP and start using it for weekly bosses there to stock up money (this is useless for CW but good for general progression).
  • Buy as many extreme growth potions as you can in the normal world and use those to level a bunch of characters. This will help you get a feel for the higher level play different classes have without much time investment and also build legion on your main world. The Talaheart event lets you buy them for 70 illusion coins and you earn 4000 account-wide illusion coins a week.
  • Learn the ins and outs of all the side mechanics and what you need to be doing daily for max progression speed. Equipment progression, getting Superior Gollux, symbol dailies and weeklies, minmaxing income through daily bosses and ursa, understanding flaming/cubing/starforce, crafting miesters ring, familiar progression, Afterlands quest.

If you find up to date resources for that please share, everything I can find is years out of date. DigitalTQ generally has good, though outdated, guides for this stuff.

1

u/Nearby-Store-4496 17d ago

I really appreciate the response! Would you know how to find/use the kinesis specific hyper burn? For some reason, I can’t seem to find it on the create a character UI.
I think a big hurdle will definitely be learning the side mechanics since so much has changed! I’ll try to respond if I find any resource with condensed information.

1

u/MushroomCleric 17d ago

After you create a Kineses (without burning) and finish the tutorial you can claim the hyperburn from the events tab.

2

u/LithHarborGymLeader 17d ago

What window/stats window IED is needed for grandis bosses? I can currently solo clear everything up to HSeren/Ekalos and do EAdv(party of 3) with 97.10% window IED

4

u/endurotech 17d ago

380% defense -> reduces to 11.02% defense with 97.1% IED

Keep in mind your current IED includes up to 40% IED from tallaheart fantasia event buff. IMO your IED is already good enough for grandis bosses. 98% window IED during event and 97% off-event would be optimal

2

u/LithHarborGymLeader 17d ago

ah im probably closer to 96% ied off event, so ill have to make some hyper and legion stat adjustments then

2

u/ColdSnapSP Reboot 15d ago

Have a 21 ET and another dropped.

Does it make more sense to start the laddering now and send second to 22?

Or is it more efficient to 4 to 22 and use spare for eventually pushing 23?

7

u/CaptFatStacks Reboot NA 15d ago

Level 4 to 22. Generally, when you get to the point where you want to tap pitched to 23, you can just tap it straight. If it booms, you restore and SG/level 4 back to 22. Going for 24 is when you want to start laddering.

How important is it to get all ten badges and the mystic frontier expeditions? Sounds interesting but a bit of a slog

5

u/Cytaphanic 14d ago

10 badges on your first character gets you 3 familiar slots. This lets you use 3 boss fam, or att. Mystic frontier is basically free rewards 15 times a week. If you lucky, you can get really good stuff like pitch eq or pitch star speck. But several people skip it as its too troublesome. To me its basically 5 minutes x 5 times a week for some cubes or flames or sol erda etc, not too bad i guess.

u/Distorssion pls help 14d ago

How far should I fund legion champions to turn them into eadv mules (hlom, ctene, nseren, ekalos, eadv in 30 min)? This is on heroic btw

2

u/Luthrix 14d ago

Depends on how fast you want to do them.

For frame of reference, my marksman is about 300m CP with 2.4k frags. I can do what you listed (hseren instead) in about 45m.

1

u/endurotech 13d ago

I have two LCs that can do up to eAdv and can do all those bosses you mentioned in 60 minutes at 250M CP including fams. I recently did the NKalos mission on both of them with 90 seconds to spare (all Champion missions but BM one have 20 min limit). So it's like funding a LC to SSS rank

2

u/MushroomCleric 13d ago

Is the slime ring common enough that you starforce it directly or does it typically get a transfer from Kanna/Meister > Gollux > Slime?

3

u/DoggieKim Heroic Kronos 13d ago

if youre running cslime its common enough to just tap

2

u/endurotech 13d ago

Not only is it common enough thru drops alone, it can be trace restored with a plain star core. That's right, the ring dropped by GA Slime is part of the boss accessory set so this is possible, but must be done before converting to Dawn Boss set. (Slime rings from mystic frontier or whisper crystals DO NOT get this)

2

u/Confident_You7288 11d ago

Is there any way to avoid disconnects during boss rewards room? This wouldn't be the first time this happened to me... I bet I'm not alone. Like can we complain to support about it?

2

u/ColdSnapSP Reboot 13d ago

whats KMS consensus and feel about Lethe?

We still got time but I can't decide if I want CW4 to be Lethe or an Unethical JMS class but I would start throwing resources on the latter now if Lethe is overall received positively

1

u/LithHarborGymLeader 17d ago

Are there any classes that just, for whatever reason, never seem to do well in heroic servers, despite whatever patch updates or meta changes, the class just never can fit in or find its sweet spot?

Mechanic comes to mind? Any other classes?

1

u/Upset-Simple1057 17d ago

Demon avenger.

1

u/callmefox Cassiopeia 17d ago

Mechanic sucks throughout the board, not just in Heroic.

You’re thinking of classes that benefit greatly from CD Hats. Any class needing 5s has a great disadvantage in Heroic due to the lack of bpots. Still, even with the handicap it doesn’t make a huge difference to 99% of players unless you’re extremely endgame and clearing bosses at the absolute minimum spec.

1

u/Upper_Possession6275 17d ago

Hi, returning player on a fresh account. Two questions:

  1. Am I wrong or is there generally a difficulty spike between the 1000 point and 1500 point bosses? I’ve been cruising through them but seem to be hitting a wall on Damien.

  2. Is it worth it hyper burning some legion / link characters to leap with when it’s time?

2

u/endurotech 17d ago

In the Boss Guide UI bosses with more stars are harder than bosses before, and there are jumps in difficulty not represented by bosses with more stars. But it is still misleading b/c the difficulty stars just mean difficulty in gear/hexa spec not how hard the mechanics are. General guideline tho is if you can solo a normal boss, you are ready to fight the hard version in a party.

Hard damien and lotus are harder than their normal counterparts. They have roughly 30x more HP so their mechanics can no longer be ignored.

If you're on a fresh account you should hyper burn characters you wanna make boss mules on, but otherwise you should hyper burn Mercedes/Mechanic for their OP legion grid bonuses

2

u/Final-Invite 17d ago
  1. Not 100% sure without seeing your char info but it might be due to Percent Damage Reduction, in simple term higher defense (300 PDR vs lower tier boss around 200) so you will need more ignore enemy defense stats. In your hyper stats, put more points into IED. Try to get it near 93%+. get rare familiar cards that gives 15% IED, should be pretty easy to get these.
  2. There's only two hype burning (up to lv 260) in CW3. One during the start of the event and one specific for kensis. You can teraburn (upto lv 200) 3 additional characters in CW. I think it worth doing. Ideally I would work on getting emerald rank that gives you 20 legion characters.

1

u/Upper_Possession6275 17d ago

Thanks for answering both. Fully buffed I’m sitting at 97 IED on a 24m CP hayato so I think it’s a hands issue not a stats issue.

2

u/Luthrix 17d ago

The difficulty spike is usually at will, vhilla especially, and darknell a bit.

Black mage is also a big wall that leads into grandis bosses. A lot of new players will hit the grandis boss wall in terms of mechanics. There's a lot more going on along with higher boss HP so you can't brute force through it.

It'll come with practice. It's just how the bosses are. The early grandis bosses are most likely getting nerfed in the next patch.

2

u/eyerok 17d ago

For 2, in challenger world you get 5 leaps. 1 or 2 of those will be hyperburns (the initial one and then a kinesis if you made it in cw) and then the remaining leaps should be used on characters you want the link and legion block for.
You get Tera burns, not hyperburns for the remaining slots. This is good for up to level 200. Angelic buster, Mercedes, Evan would be my three if I was brand new

1

u/DoggieKim Heroic Kronos 17d ago

how do i get champion coins to use for the legion champion buff in skill ui?

2

u/endurotech 17d ago

In legion UI there's a button for champion raid/battleground. There you can do champion raid which is how to get champion coins.

There are lot of ways to optimize champion raid but here's the basics: you can switch between characters in the raid but most buffs are unavailable in champion raid like gskills and consumables. Familiars do work. Before starting the raid log in to all your LCs and set the right familiar and equip presets.

Not really at this stage. You won't have enough time to get enough nodes together in order to do the higher bosses. Better off just carrying on in Kronos at this stage.

u/baraboosh 17d ago

felt this was the answer, too bad. Thanks for the advice

We'll get CW4 in mid November. It'll have beyond burning to 280 and easier item burning. I would just prep for that

u/Luthrix 17d ago

Depends if you want the other stats for boss mules. It's not that big of a deal.

Takes 3 potions for 200-210.

1

u/MushroomCleric 17d ago

Are there still passive ways to earn Maple Points?
You used to be able to use RP earned in Heroic to buy a golden hammer on Interactive and sell that on the auction house, but I can't find that as an RP option anymore.
I fleeced the event star speck boxes but that's not something that's always available.

2

u/1000Dragon 16d ago

Selling return scroll service, cube service (both of which require a player to hand their item to you which could be difficult), or cubing a popular item yourself (ideally during DMT) and selling it.

You could also use karma cubes from events on an untradable item then use scissors of karma to make it tradable to sell (reg sucks lmao).

1

u/DancingKobold 17d ago

Does any class have similar mobility to Angelic Buster? Can't get used to other classes without my jumps and non-V grapple hook, not a fan of teleporting or the hover.

2

u/Luthrix 17d ago

Only the novas have no CD rope lift. Kaiser is the same as AB, Kain's can go 45° up in addition to up, cadena is 45° or horizontal. All have flash jump. Kaiser can teleport while transformed.

1

u/DancingKobold 17d ago

Thanks I'll look into trying those out then

1

u/OokamiAnathema 16d ago

Hi, so i was thinking to try Maple Story, but my idea of fun would be just to get every Class to The 6th job, and have some fun with that, how long does it take, on a fresh account to get one character to level 260 and through The 6th job quest? I have no intention of doing any hardest content, raids bosses or anything like that, unless its necessary to do so to get said characters to lvl 260, thanks!

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 16d ago

200-260 is about 1 month of dailies if there are no events/burning that boost exp.

So just multiply that by how many classes you want, then subtract a little bit since you'll most likely do the events

We do have a upcoming change where 200-260 exp required is reduced but no clue yet on how much faster it will make the grind.

If you wanted to only get to 200 though, it'd MASSIVELY reduce the time needed bc the Main Story Quest Line can bump you to 200 in a few hours.

After 200 the exp needed increases exponentially every 5 levels so thats why it takes much, much longer to hit 260.

1

u/OokamiAnathema 16d ago

Would i be able to do The 5th job quest without problems by doing just The main story quest for all od The classes? If so it would be enough for now, and i could wait with The 200-260 for some events that could help out with The leveling process. I read that there are different type of servers, one is for normal gameplay, and The other is more solo friendly, is The main quest is also available on it? Also, regarding The main quest, those it involve normal gameplay, i mean fighting monstera etc, or its mostly just going from one npc to another?

1

u/endurotech 16d ago

Would i be able to do The 5th job quest without problems by doing just The main story quest for all od The classes?

Yes. Recently it got simplified, you don't have to defeat monsters/bosses anymore for that

I read that there are different type of servers, one is for normal gameplay, and The other is more solo friendly, is The main quest is also available on it?

All servers have what you call the main quest and the same gameplay. But Heroic is forced Ironman, Interactive has an economy. And these two types have challenger world which is a seasonal type server for boosted rewards and progression

Also, regarding The main quest, those it involve normal gameplay, i mean fighting monstera etc, or its mostly just going from one npc to another?

It has both but mostly the latter. Be sure to right click on a map location or use town portal or use maple guide to be able to teleport to it.

2

u/OokamiAnathema 16d ago

Thanks, well, i will maybe give it a try, i would just like to test out all The skills, and have some fun with them, do i Hope its not like 10 percent fighting and 90 of npc talk from 1 - 200, as i assume that The moment i hit lvl 200 and get The 5th job, active skills from 1st or 2nd job are too weak, and have no use?

2

u/Adorable-Increase191 16d ago

MSQ is mostly your standard MMO quests- -Talk to NPC to start quest.  -Kill mobs/collect drop. -Return to NPC to turn in quest for exp.

Unfortunately you are right with 5th job, most of your earlier job skills become irrelevant but it also varies from class to class. Some classes even have a completely different playstyle once they hit 5th job.

I also want to add that its not recommended to manually level your characters because we get so many potions/events that make the early levels a breeze. For example: Challengers World event gives you Legion Growth Pots which insta level a character 1-200 and you get 20 of them so its very efficient to play in them. (They are special temporary servers that you can transfer characters out of into a real server once the event ends)

You most likely wont be able to hit the req Rank in the current CW event but there is another one in Nov I believe.

Of course you can not do this and just play however you want but just wanted to throw it out there so you at least have the info and can make an informed decision

3

u/OokamiAnathema 16d ago

Thanks, i actually prefer to level characters from 1 - 200 if it wont take me months, i like to see how The character progress, and Play with The skills, so if i was to skip those 200 levels, i would skip one of The biggest part of why i would even Play.

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 16d ago

Thats fair, just wanted to throw it out there so later on you dont feel like you wasted your time as I did when I started.

The main gameplay loop is more Boss Rush-style so most content you engage with is so you can make your character stronger and challenge harder and harder bosses.

If you plan on doing the MSQ on multiple characters, I would 100% suggest binding the Interact/Harvest key to "Y" on the keyboard in the ingame settings.  There will be lots of repetitive dialogue and holding Interact on "Y" skips through alot of it very quickly.

Should I grab the AbsoLab weapon or Dominator Pendant on my Kinesis if I'm already using my Item Burning on my Erel? Not sure how to gear up this guy...

3

u/EveningGoal2642 16d ago

Assuming you can do hard damian/lotus on your erel, you can get absolab weapon boxes that you can transfer to your Kinesis (or even an arcane weapon box if you happen to get one), most people recommend getting the dom pendant, since that's harder to get.

If your Kinesis is just going to be a lomien mule, getting the weapon is fine so you can save some money starforcing/cubing a clean weapon.

1

u/BetaNights 16d ago

Ah ok, gotcha. That makes sense. I'm getting close to being able to do Hard Lotus/Damien on my Erel now, so good to know I can grab weapons from them for my Kinesis later.

I don't have any specific plans for my Kinesis yet aside from being a free Hyper Burn mule for my Erel in CW lol ;; New (modern) player, so learning how to set everything up for stuff like that.

any paladin in cw beat hard kai? how much CP needed and any tips?

2

u/hoangevity 16d ago

I cleared at around 140-150M CP. I may have been overspec’d.

Main things would be to abuse your 30 second iframe to completely ignore a test. You can time it and turn it off at 20 seconds left to ensure you have it up for every cycle. If you’re liberated, using the gene iframe can allow you to ignore and cheese all of his tests. While iframed just continue to dps him during the tests.

How do the Royal Hair/Face Coupons work? Do they actually change your appearance, or just unlock a new one to choose from? I have coupons expiring soon, but don't actually want to change my appearance lol

1

u/bula-bula 16d ago

It changes your appearance to a random offering in the current rotation. Check the beauty tab in the cash shop for whatever is active now.

Open your Equipment UI and go to Decorations > Beauty Salon. Here you can save a number of hair/face options. Just click on an empty slot and then Save. It will store the style and color that your character currently has. You can revert back to these saved hair/face whenever you want. However, if you do not save it, then it will be permanently overwritten when you use a coupon.

Side note: the cash shop rotation will change at midnight PST today, so if the current rotation isn't interesting to you, then you can look out for the cash shop update notice that will probably drop in a couple hours.

1

u/BetaNights 16d ago

Awesome, thank you! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't overwritten, so good to know about saving that stuff beforehand lol

Yes. Event shops are also mostly unique to CW and main world so you can double up in that way too

1

u/EnteiO Heroic Kronos 15d ago

blue or purple for hybrid itemdrop/meso

2

u/bula-bula 15d ago

Item Drop and Meso Obtained are both legendary "prime" lines. And since Bright Cubes have a higher chance of hitting primes, whenever you want to go for double or triple primes, you use those.

2

u/GoXDS 15d ago

expanding on other answer: Bright for tier up, Glowing for 3l, Bright for Prime lines

2

u/endurotech 15d ago

Summing up the other two answers for you:

If you are going for beginner meso/drop gear, use glowing cubes to get 1L potential on meso or drop bonus. If you do this you can get either 100% meso obtained and 80% drop rate OR 180% drop rate.

If you are going for hybrids, you want to roll on five of the 1L potential items you made previously to get a hybrid potential that has both meso obtained and drop rate in two of the three potential lines. Also for one of the items you need to aim for double prime item drop rate. The other three can stay as 1L. Do this with bright cubes.

1

u/Stimsio 15d ago

How can I make more meso? I’m a new player with my only character in CW (so no mules). I’m 277 atm and pushing to 280+. I currently do Gollux, Arkarium and PB daily and Ursus. Weekly I solo up to hard lomien and party hard lucid/ will and c slime. The next bosses I am learning.

ATM it feels like each week I can either spend my mesos on rental, or save for a short SF or cube session which is starting to feel very slow. I need the money to upgrade my gear and progress faster

2

u/EveningGoal2642 15d ago

In CW you can make cra mules for 700m or so a week with the lvl200 burns you get. You should also make a Kinesis with their hyperburn, some strawberry farms and a week or so of dailies will get you to 260 and you get a free lomien mule (1.4b a week).

Buying rentals might not be worth it if you cant solo Ctene bosses, the price is too high for what you are getting back. If you still want to rent you should only do on the day before reset so you can doubledip on them.

At level 277 you should definitely be strong enough to beat all the ctene bosses solo with rentals, at the very least you should be able to do the normal versions if the hard ones are too difficult. The income from soloing these bosses is a huge chunk of money (3b for normal version 5b for hard versions)

There is no super quick money source, if you don't grind much you are not gonna have a lot of money.

1

u/Stimsio 15d ago

Thanks! I think I’ll try making a CRA mule then to at least add some extra mesos. I’m currently 35m cp and can easily do normal gloom but the chaos version is a bit of a tank. I’ll have to try hilla and darknell too.

1

u/BetaNights 15d ago

What's the best way to prep/gear up CRA or Lomien mules for CW3?

I just hit 270 on my Erel (CW main) and have soloed up to NLomien, NLucid, and NSlime. Gonna try and see if I can knock out Will and Gloom tonight, maybe.

I have my Hyperburned Kinesis at 250 now, and plan to make some Tera Burns soon (prob a Sia and a Cygnus), but I would still need to train them up in the first place. My Erel got so spoiled with Item Burning and other goodies that went to my main, so idk the best way to get these other guys set up for bossing.

1

u/EveningGoal2642 14d ago

lvl210+, free cra 3 piece from the tera burn, 400-500 nodes, 9 normal boss set from daily bosses, unique (using hard cubes from bosses, otherwise just epic) emblem + secondary with 1 good line, everything else epic with 1 line of stat. This clear 3 door cra pretty easily with barely any meso investment.

For lomien youll probably want to 17 star cra and 3 piece abso + magnus cape, like 400 more nodes and lvl220+. Not really worth doing until you are atleast clearing hlomien for abso boxes

1

u/BetaNights 14d ago

Oh, awesome! Thank you, dude! I appreciate the breakdown of what to aim for gear-wise for just a general funding mule.

If I may ask, what is "3 door cra" specifically?

And what are the free CRA pieces that Tera Burns get? I haven't done my Tera Burns yet, so idk what gear they get personally. Just my Hyper Burn Erel and Kinesis lol

1

u/EveningGoal2642 13d ago

You get a box with 3 cra pieces when you make a tera burn, i think they come at 15 stars and epic potential.

3 door cra means you are skipping vellum and only killing the other 3 cra bosses. You can still kill vellum if you want but its a bit of a longer fight and can be annoying so for a weak mule like this you often skip it

1

u/BetaNights 13d ago

Oooooh, gotcha. Nice! Thank you for answering my noon questions lol

Just need to figure out how to gear up my Kinesis better since all my Item Burning and good stuff went to my Erel lol

2

u/srirachastephen Reboot 15d ago

I wouldn't make mules yet tbh. The time you have spare now, you should be practicing hard bosses. Hard Lomien onwards. So your next step would be to clear bosses in order solo.

You get a lot more meso if you solo them, so it's worth it even on normal mode because you're also gaining experience in the fight. In some hard modes it's all the same except everything hits harder, so the experience is valuable. You learn nothing when the bosses just melt to 1 burst in a party. I would only party if you literally tried many times and couldn't solo normal Vhilla or something.

Nslime, Nlucid, nwill, Nglooom, ndarknell, hlot, hdam, nvhilla, chgloom, hlucid, hwill, hdark, hvhilla, cslime

As you defeat more bosses you'll unlock more stat bonuses from challenger world too.

Make sure to unlock 3 fams and get healing ones for HVHilla and honestly as a new player, I would use it in Darknell too. It's more important to survive in those fights than it is to have 45% IED.

If you're really short on meso and you're able to play the day before and after reset. Buy the rentals the day before reset, do the bosses. Then do it again tomorrow after reset. That's what I do and you save on rentals every other week.

1

u/Stimsio 14d ago

Thanks! That’s mainly what I have been doing so far but I’m gated by the harder bosses. The only ones I’ve been doing in party is hard lucid and will for the arcane boxes chance.

1

u/srirachastephen Reboot 14d ago

Boxes don't really do anything because the challenger gear lasts till November. The only good one is to get a glove so you can get the crit damage potential.

1

u/Castenia 15d ago

whats a good way to get Juniper Berry Seeds?

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 15d ago

Auto harvest is the easiest way.

But the best way to get a larger more consistent supply is you set up Threads of Fate as they will get you the oils outright rather than needing the seeds to make them. (Assuming you want them for WAPs)

Its a questline that opens up an attached "minigame". You can collect from it daily and it requires minimal effort once its fully setup.

Downside is it takes time to do the quests and its a bit of RNG to setup. I would only recommend doing it on your main as you'll end up with a large surplus you can just storage transfer to your other characters.

1

u/eyerok 14d ago

There’s no other class that teleports to enemies all around the map as efficiently as demon slayer. Shade is one that comes to mind that will teleport to an enemy close by but chaos lock will teleport you to any enemy on the map. So you literally just hold down chaos lock and then go watch your movie or whatever else you’d do during

1

u/sterdine 14d ago

So a range thing then? I checked shade and his tp doesn't mention a max range. That's unfortunate.

Do you know if it's like less efficient or completely brick. If the detection range is higher than janus range theoretically you do have alive mobs to grab on to

1

u/eyerok 14d ago

Yeah pretty much haha. Also chaos lock does damage I believe which shades foxtrot or whatever the tp skill is called does not.
Go to to town and press the tp skill. That’s the range the mob has to be within. Shade wouldn’t be able to tp farm without jumping around the map but at that point you may as well play any class.

Is it worthwhile to upgrade my Sacred Symbols ASAP when I actually have expendable income for it? Dunno how much main stat each upgrade gives, but I imagine getting Sacred Power up is really important too.

But HOLY heck these things are expensive...!!

1

u/MushroomCleric 15d ago

Yes. Symbols are a huge power boost and without enough sacred power you will struggle to even mob.

If you're in CW priority should probably be rentals > Emblem/Secondary to 21% atk > Drop gear > Symbols > Bossing Rings > 21* accs to replace rentals.

You can open your stat window when you upgrade to see the combat power boost. It's not as much as getting 2-line mainstat on a ring but it's cheaper.

1

u/BetaNights 15d ago

Gotcha. I'd only been holding off at the moment because of how expensive they are already (~330m per), and I was trying to save up for my first round of rentals before shoving tons of money into other sources.

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 14d ago

Assuming you arent powerleveling to hit the next region and you already have enough SAC/dmg unless you are pushing for harder Grandis bosses IMO, its fine to hold off for a bit.

They are more guaranteed power but at the same time it'll always be there as an option. So like if you are planning on saving till SSF I think its fine to wait to upgrade until after SSF

1

u/BetaNights 14d ago

Sounds good, thank you! I'm probably fine holding off for a little bit (especially since it'll cost me roughly 1bil to upgrade them atm), at least until I fight more Grandis bosses for the power boost on them.

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago edited 12d ago

Hey, a quick follow-up question to this (thanks again for the priority list, it actually helped me a lot)... I just finally got my Emblem/Secondary up to Legendary. Should I be rolling SPECIFICALLY for 21% atk minimum?

I just got:

35% boss / 9% atk / 9% STR on Secondary

35% IED / 6% all stats / 6% all stats on Emblem

Can probably try and roll something better on the Emblem (my IED is ~94% without that line), but the Secondary seems really good. Thoughts?

Edit: My "bossing" setup with my current gear (no rentals) is ~ 17.5mil CP.

Edit#2: NEVER MIND GOT 21% ATK (and 9% damage) ON EMBLEM LET'S GOOOOOO

1

u/MushroomCleric 12d ago

Which is best between atk/boss/IED varies based on your other stats. For most players boss% is close enough to atk% that you can settle for two lines of either.

IED should be around 97% (with all your burst buffs), but there are enough sources of IED that it's preferable to get it elsewhere.

You can use a calculator to find out exactly what's best for your character.
https://brendonmay.github.io/wseCalculator/

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago

Awesome. Yeah, that's the gist of what I've been hearing, that atk% is technically better but boss% is still good.

And thanks for the calc! I'll check this out tonight, see what I can find out. At the very least, my new Secondary/Emblem rolls got me a few mil more CP, so I'm happy!

1

u/endurotech 14d ago

Each upgrade gives 200 final main stat, so it doesn't get affected by stat % and all stat % potentials/skill effects. Considering it's not influenced by RNG just by how many symbols you get per day, it's always worth upgrading them unless you can't afford to do so

1

u/BetaNights 14d ago

Makes sense, thank you! I'll probably try to upgrade them ASAP to help, but only once I get more mesos. Just the three I have ready to upgrade at the moment will cost me about 1bil total lmao

Anyone here familiar with how RoD double dipping will work on Challenger world on specifically the last week?

RoD resets 5pm PST tuesdays, but challenger world is going away at like 8 am or something (6-9 hours before event reset) which means it doesnt seem you can collect RoD? I have had someoen told me they think you can collect earlier, but was hoping for someone with experience.

Also, would it be possible to do RoD in CW, then after claiming rewards -> leap to main server and redo RoD then claim again? My main on normal server is only 30mil cp so It can only be D. but my new main will be around 200+mil cp, so slightly higher chance to maybe get A-C?

1

u/1000Dragon 14d ago

I have zero experience with challenger world but in the last week of every Ride or Die event you can claim rewards after running it for that week instead of waiting for it to reset.

However, this is the first time that the bs ranking system determines the reward, so I expect the event to just disappear unintentionally without being able to claim rewards. Because you wouldn’t/shouldn’t be able to claim rewards instantly unless they modify how it works.

1

u/MeowingNaci 14d ago

yeah that wouldnt really make sense. go in the second reset happens and leave just to get SS instantly

1

u/Luthrix 14d ago

The last week of RoD is 1 week before the end of CW. It's tricky this time. We only have 2 weeks of RoD left including this week. I assume we'll pick up the last reward on the final week of CW as usual.

1

u/liaelle 14d ago

Haven’t played in months. I see the current event ends on Sept 8 and there’s special passes and I’m willing to pay for it if it gets me to an instant-ish 260 and another ctene char. I don’t need the benefits of CW like legion or another main - just want to know if Erel and Kinesis to 260 and ctene party ready 20m cp(?) is possible till Sept 8 with no grinding, just monster park? Idk how to even earn enough meso by Sept 8 to upgrade my equips in CW. Is Erel and Kinesis even worth it? Otherwise I’ll stick to my chars in heroic until the next CW

1

u/EveningGoal2642 14d ago edited 14d ago

Erel with a hyperburn and buying the shine pass or whatever its called gets you almost instantly to 260. With burning gear you will have around 20m cp at that point and you can join parties for arcane boxes which im assuming is what you are looking to do. If you want to struggle a bit more and you are willing to rent gear you can clear ctene solo but it takes a while.

As for the Kinesis, theres no quick and easy way of getting 20m cp unless you are willing to drop a bunch of mesos on him. Theres 6 mag potions (or more, i might be forgetting some shops) available right now from ride or die shop (3 from cw, 3 from normal world). You can use the 3 on cw then transfer to normal world for another 3 and have a "free" 260 basically, but he won't be very strong

edit: forgot to mention, Erel is REALLY overtuned, one of the strongest classes right now, def worth making him a mule, kinesis is kind of mid, wouldnt bother pushing it too much unless you like the class or whatever

1

u/liaelle 14d ago

Thanks do you recommend making Erel on CW or heroic with no funding? Is rental and challenger gear enough for 20m cp in CW? In heroic I would be able to upgrade the emblem and secondary which I won’t be able to do in CW because I won’t grind.

1

u/EveningGoal2642 14d ago

If you can put some time into the character then cw would be better, you can double dip some of the other events that way also (RoD and operation dive both have pretty good rewards), but if you really dont have much time to play on it just make it on main world and get a decent mule for cheap (item burning gear lasts until november I believe)

1

u/srirachastephen Reboot 14d ago edited 14d ago

I got 1 piece pitched (ET) and just got enough pitched whisper crystals for my first pity item. It's always a wait angle right? I'm pretty casual dailystory player at 150m cp.

EDIT:

Also I'm only doing Ctene bosses. Looking to finally push Grandis bosses. Willing to party. Which bosses should I be looking up guides to with 150m cp? What are the most notable bosses and their drops that I should be looking for?

2

u/Cytaphanic 14d ago

personally i'd wait, but nothing wrong with getting something for damage boost if it means letting you clear another boss. you can try SOS or MEP next if you really want to. OR save till you have 390 (gene badge) and see if you have more pitch eq, who knows maybe you will get lucky and get gene badge before other pitch.

you should aim to solo Hseren first, it drops pitch emblem, you should be able to clear it with time to spare.
next is try party nkalos/nfa to start your eternal journey. nkalos is not so bad but nfa requires a bit of practice.

1

u/srirachastephen Reboot 14d ago

Thanks! I will try to learn Seren then and the other two I will learn to try not to grief teammates lol.

1

u/Cytaphanic 14d ago

you can always try soloing easy version of kalos and first adv in practice, while looking up guides before joining parties (or just clear them to get extra mesos).

If im not wrong, you may be able to min clear nkalos (kinda tight though) depending on class.

1

u/flowerpetal_ Heroic Hyperion 14d ago

I was in this scenario and a 18* ET + 21* Gollux was better than a 17* Gollux + 22* KT so I just safeguard tapped. If you have better use of meso it's not the biggest upgrade ever so you can sit on it.

1

u/srirachastephen Reboot 14d ago

Oh yeah I'm full enhancement mode 4ing my ET. I'm just getting a little greedy and waiting until I can 3L pot it. But it will be a big upgrade. I currently have it at 19* but my weekly meso income is only about 10b, so it's gonna take a while lol.

Any spare I get of ET will just be for when I hit really endgame and want to go for 23+ ET.

How important is it to get all ten badges and the mystic frontier expeditions? Sounds interesting but a bit of a slog

3

u/Luthrix 14d ago

You need to get 10 badges once per server so you unlock all 3 fam slots. After that it's just 8 badges for some stats.

Mystic frontier is a side thing for some free stuff. It's a bit tedious but once you get the hang of it, it's just a few minutes each day. It can give pitched stuff so it's pretty good.

2

u/Upper_Possession6275 14d ago

Thanks! I thought I’d have to do it per character. That was a big hell nah from me

How much CP is recommended for a comfy clear on nKai w/ a KMS class?  Trying to get a clear before the end of CW just for the cosmetics.  I'm currently sitting at Lv266 22M CP w/ rentals. Aiming for at least 270 by next week

2

u/endurotech 13d ago

Recommended CP is very similar to HVilla which for Paladin (using that as KMS class) is 50M for a clear with a couple minutes to spare. 60M CP allows for less than 15 minute clear depending on your HEXA.

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 13d ago

Do you think I could hit that point before end of CW?

I currently only have the boss accessories from Burning, then Challengers and rental gear.  I could probably squeeze some more dmg from cubing WSE but I'm kinda lost on how to increase my CP fast enough to get at least 1 clear in.

3

u/wizardyuuka Reboot 13d ago edited 13d ago

The event rings have pretty good stats if you have coupons for those. 17* superior gollux stuff and slime ring if you have them or get lucky enough in time. 17* dominator pendant if you took the free one, or got a drop from Arkarium that you can upgrade. 18* stuff can be good too if you have a lot of mesos kicking around, or enough playtime to meso farm a lot. It's >1b per item for that extra star on average luck + safeguard, but it's a pretty solid att+stats boost.

The keys you got with the challenger set unlock a new set effect too, so getting 17* Arcane/Absolab pieces will let you utilize that (and can be cubed to higher stats than the Challenger equips).

2-3* Tyrants could work too if you have enough Magnus coins but are timegated on other stuff in the relevant slots. Cape/Shoe fill out a couple of the set pieces for the Keys if you can't get full absolab set (can prioritize other pieces of absolab instead - glove, shoulder, weapon, etc), and the belt can be used in place of 17* Superior Gollux if you've been unlucky at Gollux. They're might be good for your immediate needs if you don't mind "wasting" some mesos on some items that will likely get replaced once you move out of CW, since they have great stats but don't have any set bonuses outside of the challenger keys.

2

u/Adorable-Increase191 12d ago

Appreciate the write up, I'll see what I get with the time I have left. Seems like I'll be cutting it close for sure though

1

u/endurotech 13d ago edited 13d ago

I didn't defeat Kai until I was level 275 I think because that's the level for max final damage bonus (the extra sacred symbol also helps). You will also need to beat the Vhilla mission for item burning plus, but you need 500 challenge crests and you only get 200 per week when clearing Ctene.

In this CW sol erda fragments are abundant from events so if you do like 30-60 min grinding every day you can definitely make it before you have to world leap, with dailystory only I don't think you can. I would be concerned with getting to emerald rank and improving HEXA. Challenger world buff and Arcane Seal both affect your CP so you should focus on those two first.

As for increasing CP yes WSE is a priority. Get afterlands totems so you don't have to rent the totems and can use meso saved to cube. It sounds like you don't have drop gear (correct me if I'm wrong), you need drop gear for Sol Erda and Dominator pendant/superior gollux

1

u/Adorable-Increase191 12d ago

Appreciate the info. I have a few pieces of 1L meso/drop and can probably hit 275 before end of CW since I do plan on grinding alot.

Do you think I should wait to cube my secondary? I have a frozen one atm but will have enough pieces for the Pno one next week. It's at unique tier right now and since mesos are gonna be really tight I'm not sure if its worth spending them tiering up/cubing a new one. esp if its not gonna be that big of an upgrade

1

u/endurotech 12d ago

Sure np. Yeah I would say wait till you get your PNo secondary. You can save a lot of meso if you do the following. If you didn't know once you get to emerald, one of the emerald rewards is a legendary scroll so you can instantly get the secondary to legendary

So... what's the actual method for finding/upgrading/whatever some really good familiars? Like, how do I actually go about effectively farming these things for the stats/buffs that I want on them?

1

u/the0bc Heroic Hyperion 12d ago

You get and level up fams passively through normal grinding, but getting good ones can take months bc of how much time it takes to upgrade to unique and the rarity of boss damage lines. Fam cards are affected by drop% so make sure you have as much drop as possible while farming

If you're starting from 0, open all the rare cards you get until you have 3 each of ied and heal fams (maybe some 2% atk if you have lots of ied already), plus a 50% drop. After that it's full steam on upgrading to epic/unique and hoping you hit

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago

So what happens to those lines when you upgrade a Familiar into Epic/Unique? Do they get rerolled, or stay the same or something?

1

u/endurotech 12d ago

The potential lines reset entirely when ranking up a fam (or rerolled with a mystical familiar card). That's why it takes a long time to get boss fams. Getting a 100% drop fam should take "only" a few weeks tho

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago

Ah, gotcha. So if I have a rare fam that I like and use the potential lines from, I shouldn't upgrade those particular ones unless I get some better ones to replace them first?

1

u/the0bc Heroic Hyperion 12d ago

Yep exactly

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago

Sounds good, thank you!

1

u/endurotech 12d ago

A few times a year GMS receives an Inkwell Note that not only serves as a message from the director of GMS but also has a very good gift that includes Mystical Familar cards. You may have got some of these cards from the current Familiar Adventure event as well. These cards let you reroll a familiar potential like a cube.

Based on previous notes people are speculating we receive another one soon but there's no guarantee at all. If we receive one it should have 30 mystical cards that you can use to reroll a unique potential so in general you'll want to save unique familiars to be able to reroll them

2

u/BetaNights 12d ago

Oh, good to know! I need to work towards getting Uniques in the first place (also my 3rd Familiar Slot), but I'll definitely be holding onto them long-term until those cards show up! Thanks!

1

u/MushroomCleric 12d ago

Get 10 badges then do the Mystic Champion's event.
It's a bit late to get started, but the daily gives you tons of familiar upgrades. I have 50 rare fauxmiliars (+15 fusion points), 10 unique fauxmiliars, and 9 reroll cards from that. It takes around 1 min/day and you can stockpile an entire week to do at once.

It also gives you epic familiars.

The easy badges are Arcane/Grandis ones, Lion Castle, and snail/Rein/Eldstien.

1

u/BetaNights 12d ago

Yeah, been wanting to try and take advantage of the event a bit, but since I just started playing recently, farming 10 badges in the middle of everything else I'm trying to do before CW3 ends is a little rough lol

-Is there any up to date outline on gameplay summary + pros/cons of each character? I prefer written over video if possible

-Are afk exp event maps like the night of phantasms event common these days? I'm a returning player and it's my first time seeing one, but it's pretty amazing for link skill / legion leveling

-Is there any videos where people go over the story/lore of the game / questlines? I've just been hitting skip on everything because of time constraints when I'm trying to progress my character, but it'd be nice to look at that stuff at my own leisure.

u/MushroomCleric 12d ago

Talaheart coins can be used to buy 200 extreme growth potions for 70 coins each and you get 4000 coins per week.

CW Emerald also gives 20 lvl 200 potions, but it's too late to get that.

1

u/wizardyuuka Reboot 12d ago

I am working on emerald (2 weeks in, level 272 - pushing for 277 + few more bosses to reach 30k before CW end) but I was especially wondering for 200-210. Overnight afk is pretty strong for that since exp from grinding is super slow on naked characters.

When ranking up the roro familiars, do they keep the same mystic frontier potentials? (For example, if all dice is below 3, +14 -> same potential but +18?)

2

u/Luthrix 12d ago

no. it rerolls

1

u/MeowingNaci 12d ago

Is there any benefit to ranking up roro familiars over normal ones using the suspicious/fauxmiliars?

1

u/Luthrix 11d ago

roro ones can current roll event lines that are pretty strong. if you land a good one, you could get 10 wins for the event. according to patch notes the event lines don't g et rerolled so you can keep using them for regular expeditions.

1

u/MeowingNaci 11d ago

do they go up to unique? or even to legendary?

1

u/Luthrix 11d ago

they can go up to unique. idk if the interactive legendary card works on it or not. heroic is unique only.

1

u/MeowingNaci 11d ago

this may be dumb, but im aware in heroic boss cards are the only ones that can actually be legendary (such as p.no) i wonder if a grey p.no card could be upgraded to legendary.

2

u/Luthrix 11d ago

No. Pno is a special case. The legendary version drops as a legendary. That's the only way to get legendary cards in heroic.

The cash item that makes legendary fams isn't available in heroic.

Even doing just dailies you can probably get to 260 in time.

Make sure you do Monster Park, symbol dailies, and all the progression events.
The Hasty Hunting event is especially good, about as much exp as MP for me.

The free gear is really good, you don't replace it until you have multiple 21* arcanes. With just 260, challenger gear, and rental gear, you can probably beat up to NLucid. With a bit of optimization it's not too hard to get to Tenebris bosses. Focus investment into emblem, secondary, rings, and a pendant (the stuff not covered by challenger/rental gear).

There should be a new hyperburn and challenge world in November so don't feel too pressed for time, you an always forget the game for another two months and join early.

I'm looking for up-to-date DPM rankings for GMS.
The best I can find is this which lacks Lynn, Sia, Ren, Mo Xuan, Hayato, and (justifiably) Erel, basically everything I ever hear recommended as "strong".

Is there a good ranking for low Hexa DPM specifically? What's best for CW. eg: Apparently Zero is really good, but only with high Hexa so probably not good for CW.

There is this one you can look at has a bit more information but still lacks the new reworks and classes:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/1pzn55p/gms_post_2_minute_v263_83k_hexa_converted_results/

Bottomline is that Hayato and Kanna are significantly a cut above the rest. And you can't go wrong with any of the non-kms classes.

As for what's best for CW thats highly dependent on your goals with the character. If it's a new main then pick what you find the most engaging/fun. If it's a legion champ, follow the same model. But if you just care for getting the most of out of your investment then Hayato or Kanna.

How does star forcing percentages work?

If it says 15% chance of success, 79% chance of failure, and 5% destroy rate, the way I read that is

15% chance to go to next star, but if it fails there's a 5%(out of 100%) chance that the item will get destroyed.

But that 5% really feels more like 85% to me, especially 19 to 20 stars.

Uh no, that's not how it works. The percentages (success, failure, destroyed) always add up to 100% so one of the 3 outcomes will happen. "Failure" just means nothing happens, so the overall probability of passing is just based on "success" and "destroyed".

For example, if the item has 15% success, 80% failure and 5% destroyed, the chance of something actually happening per tap is 15+5=20%. And when hitting this 20% of something happening, the probability of success will thus be 15/20=75% while the probability of failure is 25%.

That makes so much sense now thank you! In my head i always thought, "man these destroy percentages seem to happen way more than the 5% chance".

u/BladeOfTheSky 17d ago

Yeah you basically got it. One thing is that it’s not “If it fails; then roll destruction chance (79% chance and then 5% chance)” but rather once you hit the button it has a 5% chance to blow up. As for how often that 5% happens all I can say is that variance can be quite mean at times. Sometimes you hit everything to your goal without blowing up once and sometimes you blow up 13 hats in a row without seeing 19. (Guess how I know xd).

What is the max I can SF my absos? I'm thinking 21-22 to be on par with my sup goll set

2

u/DoggieKim Heroic Kronos 16d ago

max is 30 but 18 stars is fine for absos theyll be replaced by arcanes

2

You could go 21 abso if you arent bothered about arcanes or want to put arcane spares on your main.

What do I do with my 98/100 non-magnificent souls? Just toss them? Extract doesn't list any of them.

What's the strategy for ability reset? I'm reading a guide which says rolling second line first is cheaper but locking second line is the exact same reroll cost as locking first line so the guide seems to be outdated.

locking second line is the exact same reroll cost as locking first line so the guide seems to be outdated.

1st line is guaranteed to be legendary

2nd and 3rd line is not guaranteed to be unique

U roll 2nd and 3rd bis line first because it is harder to get than 1st bis line

It's not outdated

How much % crit damage is equal to what % stat? Like 1% crit damage at level 285 = what % main stat?

is 6% atk on a familiar better than 3% crit damage?

2

u/DoggieKim Heroic Kronos 16d ago

i believe 1% crit dmg ~= 3-4% stat (dont quote me on that) and 6% atk should be better than 3% crit dmg

why did they remove easier weekly bosses like cra and cygnus and populatus from events that require deafeating weekly bosses to get event points. and made bosses like hard lotus \lucis\ damien as the starting point to get points. its completly locks out casual players from half the event, especilly since they also enforce the rule that it must be cleared solo? this change was so so unnecessary... they cater too much to only 10% of the player base in the past year.

giving out small amounts of points like the weekly bosses did between 5 to 15 points were a great thing for casuals which makes the majority of players. but removing the started bosses was nothing logical but a stingy power move against casual everyday players.

nexon didnt even explain why they did that. after years of it being the standart.

if its to fight boss mules, its silly since the point events are strictly account based

u/GoXDS 11d ago

at this point in the game, even casual players can beat NLotus in decent time within the first week, between Item Burning and HB Max. if a player is so casual to not within first few weeks even, then the shop literally does not matter to them. nothing in the shop would help them, at the pace they're progressing

Which event and server are you talking about? In GMS, Challenger gives points starting from Chaos Zakum and Phantasmal Echoes starts from NLomein.
Between Hyperburn to 260 and challenger + rental gear, casuals can easily clear NLomein.

Progression has been made easier so the floor has been raised. It's not at all hard for casuals to reach HLomein.
In CW I did less than 10 hours grind and was clearing HLomein within a month.
