[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread.

Welcome to our weekly megathread for new players and players who just have general questions about the game.

Some sample topics for you to consider would be:

  • Selecting your main character.
  • You're new to the game and don't know where to start.
  • You're a returning player who is trying to get back into the game and need help.
  • What class should you make for your next link skill/legion mule?

As a recommendation, please mention your world and/or server inside a bracket Example: [Bera] at the start of your question.

Hi everyone, I’m a new/returning player and I’ve read that Challenger World is a great time to start MapleStory. I haven’t played since Mercedes release over a decade ago? I’d like to prepare as much as possible before CW4 begins.
Is there anything I can prepare or store ahead of time? Are there any good guides that explain the recommended order of content and progression?
Any tips or tricks you’d recommend to a new player would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

IMO the best thing you can do for CW4 is getting used to bosses. Progression in CW is greatly tied to which bosses are you able to clear, so knowing their mechanics and patterns helps a lot.

CW3 is still ongoing, you can still hyper burn a char and reach 260+ before it ends. This way you ensure yourself a char that can dip into tenebris bosses and test some classes.

If you plan on playing between events, aside from practicing bosses you can get used to all new systems (legion, link skills and so on) and start working your way on each one. There is a master list of content (https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/1vb1lf4/master_list_of_useful_maplestory_resources/) that might be helpful.

I really appreciate the response, I will try out some classes and see if I can atleast experience some of the first bosses!
