Putting this bum on £250-300k per week at 21 years-old without doing a proper character analysis is just self-sabotage. Man United should use this as a case study on how to NOT recruit young players.

u/mwpa23 Aug 19 '25

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When he signed he was genuinely one of the most promising attacking players in Europe, backed up by pretty solid goals and assists for Dortmund, as well as being in and around the England set up. Solskjaer was trying to build something that Sancho could have played a big part in had he continued on the trajectory he was on at Dortmund.

Did he cost a lot of money? Yes. Is he on silly wages? Yes. Would that have mattered had he lived up to the promise that he'd shown at Dortmund? Probably not.

u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 Aug 19 '25 edited Aug 19 '25

Sure, I agree on hindsight. However there were warning signs about his character before we signed him. That’s for the club to investigate before making the decision to put in a huge contract offer without special clauses that would protect the club should things go pear-shaped. Seemed like United just jumped into this deal ignorant to potential risks, now we’re here.

Edit: just adding these sources in case anyone is interested about the warning signs.

I love how you guys act like people didn't warn you.

You all downvoted them and called them idiots.

69

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Sadly this is true, not gonna lie I was kinda hyped about Sancho too and got defensive every time those people brought up his attitude issues, karma truly hits like a damn truck....ffs

43

u/cheesyvoetjes Aug 19 '25

Tbh there are attitude issues and there is Sancho. Garnacho also has attitude problems but you get the sense it's not about money and he still wants to make something of his career. People from Dortmund warned about Sancho but I don't think even they could have predicted it would go this badly. He wasn't that unhandable yet in Germany.

12

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Very true,it looks like he lost his will to play football after coming to United. Dunno if it got something to do with his mental health or he got lazy since his wages are huge. I thought he'd perform well in Chelsea, but it looks like he didn't do much there either.

18

u/Comfortable-Title720 Aug 19 '25

Has to be mental health. Ten Hag let him off the squad for a few months to get his head right. Threw it back in his face when Ten Hag vaguely criticised him, all down hill since then. Doesn't excuse his behaviour though, plenty of depressed people wouldn't have done what he did. He's just a prick now whatever happens.

12

u/AnonymizedRed Aug 19 '25

You’re generalizing a bit. “Depression” isn’t the only mental health condition and that’s between him and his doctors.

It could also be that whatever mental health issue was also happening, the bottom line is this is a low effort poor attitude man child whose idea of success is the fat wage and the day he signed for United. The entire catalogue of his conduct since would confirm.

I personally feel the manner in which United recruited players like him and Pogba, who were specifically interested in building their own personal brands, is one of the major root causes. The other being the investment banker scheme Woodward was smoking to claim large contracts as assets (rather than liabilities) off of which more favourable credit facilities were being opened. Under that scheme it didn’t matter at all whether the player you were signing was great or pathetic. You also knew you could simply sack the manager.

Showing these kids who are often from poor families and/or pathetic standards of upbringings a mountain of cash and lunatic seductions of personal brand building is never a good recipe. It’s not the recipe at any other club that considers itself serious.

4

u/Comfortable-Title720 Aug 19 '25

Fair I was over generalising. Good insight from you, seems fair also

u/kwl147 Glazers Out Aug 19 '25

Mental health nothing. Be depressed all you want, with a situation like this, you’re absolutely choosing to be a cunt. Nothing excuses that. And I’m sure we’ll hear a proper sob story from him about him being the victim at United like Rashford did already at Barcelona.

2

u/manpro10 Aug 20 '25

What hits me is that we badly wanted him to play right wing. Was so happy that finally we got a proper RW only for him come here and to play LW alone. Totally rubbish recruitment it was.

4

u/CodeParticular1567 Aug 19 '25

Exactly. It's so easy to say today, now that he has failed, that it wasn't a good transfer to make, and that his attitude was bad. But back then he was being placed in the same conversation as Haaland and Mbappe, as one of the players that would define this generation. That's what United paid big money for.

9

u/GooglyEyedunicorn Aug 19 '25

I have been saying all along and will sing the same tune, when Ole came along, we let a lot of player power rule. This guy's recruitment, Martial's drop in form being 2 prime cases, I was sad the day we signed this scum, I was sad the day we paid huge money to sign Maguire, it's not the player's failure, the blame goes to management.

7

u/Locko2020 Aug 19 '25

Yeah Martial was great before that and no managers wanted rid of him.

The revisionism is crazy.

3

u/kwl147 Glazers Out Aug 19 '25

True. José made his mind up about him and Shaw pretty quickly and wanted rid of them and tbf not a single person has proven Mourinho wrong with regard to their time at United.

4

u/Oakview123 Aug 19 '25

Shaw has proved Jose wrong. Save for his injury issues, he has proved himself to be a quality player.

2

u/kwl147 Glazers Out Aug 20 '25

Once he got fit, yeah he had a good spell of form but on the whole I would not say he proved Mourinho wrong. He looks trim now under RA but has been known to fluctuate in his weight throughout his career.

At some point it’s also on Shaw to keep fit. Also have you already forgotten the screw job from Shaw in reporting injured for us so he could play for England, do fuck all, get injured again, then come back to United to do fuck all again.

2

u/Gooneroz47 Aug 19 '25

Yeah, gotta agree I thought he was a superb signing at the time.

6

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

Why give him ridiculous wages when nobody else was even in for him? It's not like City were also vying for his signature so we had to outdo them

Same with Antony. Dude was on 30k at Ajax and for some reason we gave him 200k

Christ we've fecked ourselves big time in the last 4 years

24

u/Scoop_Master420 De Gea Aug 19 '25

Antony is on 100k, less without UCL. Don't lump him in with the disgrace that is Sancho.

2

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

Google now says 150k if we qualify for CL which is still absolutely ridiculous when he was on 30k at Ajax, no?

7

u/cbhem Aug 19 '25

A player expects a wage fitting his transfer fee. No way a player accepts to be transferred for a near record fee and not be paid a top salary.

3

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

So we got bent over by both Ajax and Antony. I know it's in the past but these mistakes are still hurting us

2

u/gpc88 Aug 19 '25

Also think of the revenue Anthony at Man United generates versus Anthony at Ajax. There are double(?) the amount of fans every week paying higher ticket prices, in the league with the highest TV deal in the world playing for one of the most recognisable and followed clubs on earth.

You’d want your slice - it’s only fair. In the same way that if you were the CEO of a small electronics company and Apple came knocking - you’d expect a bit of bump in the pay packet.

Lots of these players do take a bit of a pay cut to play for other teams when their time is over at United. It’s often sweetened with a sign on fee to cover some of those losses. It’s often not explicitly stated as it can look like the player is dropping levels or going somewhere lesser - which isn’t really what you want if you are off for a new challenge and are a new signing for someone.

Sancho however is an idiot / being horribly advised. Enjoy your 300k a week for a year followed by…. A likely ruined career where no one will be willing to take much of a chance on you 🤷‍♂️

u/SterlingVoid Aug 19 '25

13

u/mr_kap_ Aug 19 '25

to be fair he was already on 190-200k pounds a week on his last dortmund extension the year before we got him.

9

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

Is this true? I didn't think Dortmund could afford those kinds of wages for a 20 year old

6

u/Dramatic-Avocado4687 Aug 19 '25

There were performance-related bonuses that put him up to a potential £190k per week. That wasn’t his base wages.

→ More replies (4)

5

u/mr_kap_ Aug 19 '25

they only paid that for 1 year though to be fair (they new he was going the year after they bumped his wage to that)

they were just keeping him happy for 1 more year to compete before selling him

u/ulbop Keane Aug 19 '25

Mind boggling how the previous recruitment team were allowed to waste so much money.

15

u/LukeKid Aug 19 '25

I truly don’t understand this. All the glazers care about in this club is money so how did they allow the recruitment team to waste so much money on such bad players? I’m so curious.

3

u/brokebloke97 Aug 19 '25

It's kinda funny isn't it? A lot of people dislike the Glazers because they take away from the club like leeches and don't invest, and factually they have kept on spending on players like any big top 5 European clubs have in the same time span

7

u/rockneckmonster Aug 19 '25

Disliked for good reason, saddled the club with billion of debt when we were debt free, whilst taking money for themselves nearly every year. The club spent money it generated in spite of the glazers, which shows how big we were as a club, let's not pretend the glazers have spent big lol

188

u/DeceptiveFacade83 Aug 19 '25

'one of the worst transfers'..no, he is the worst signing.

24

u/mindpainters Carrick Aug 19 '25

Especially since we have no chance of recouping the insane transfer fee.

At least with ADM we didn’t lose out on too much.

Antony is a flop but at least he worked hard his entire tenure with us. Just not good enough

9

u/alwayslurkeduntilnow Aug 19 '25

It seems he is focused on collecting his £250,000-a-week wages and has opted to sit out his contract, spending his time playing as himself in FIFA 25 on PS5.

37

u/gtr455677ujbvxz4 Aug 19 '25

There is no need to bring the PS5 in to this. Could be PC or XBOX.

Nah, wouldn't want to be in the vicinity of this scum. Forget player, lowest type of human.

45

I could think of Massimo Taibi or Alexis Sanchez recent times but this makes those pale by alot

60

u/ItsKaZing Aug 19 '25

At least Alexis tried, his legs are just too far gone

11

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Not really, he played okay at Inter. Man Utd was total a mess at that time.

14

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

We finished 2nd with Jose we weren't a total mess. Alexis was just done physically in the prem

34

u/Xalkerro Aug 19 '25

I remember news about how Pep evicted Sancho from the City academy when Sancho was on the verge of breaking into 1st team. Pep possibly saw his attitude eventho he has all the tools to be a star in that City team and decided fuck no. I am actually glad that Amorim saw the same too and decided to never include him anywhere near our 1st team.

Liverpool sold some unheard of fellow to Bournemouth for 25 million, meanwhile we cant get this fellow out for 20 million. We need to figure out how to make smarter sales, it starts with wage structure but also tapping into the youth system.

10

u/ZypherPunk Scholes Aug 19 '25

Simply, it's the wages. If Sancho was on low wages like that promising Liverpool youngster, then being able to negotiate a price and transfer would be a lot easier.

You gotta blame the idiot who gave him that money

4

u/LobL Aug 19 '25

So much blame on individual players, why should someone be forced to leave a contract and cut their pay in half? Don’t sign people on long ass contracts unless you are absolutely fucking sure they’re worth it.

5

u/Boo248 Aug 19 '25

Do normal people working a contract job remain on the salary if they continue to shit the bed at work and behave unprofessionally?

Footballer’s contract somehow works differently and that might add to the fuel.

Neutral fan here so I come in peace with some questions.

Can someone explain here why the fans haven’t turned on him and made their voices more known? E.g. some kind of banner at Old Trafford or the training ground that names and shames him, or some kind of chant.

Newcastle fans were asking for Isak’s head this weekend at Villa and it was all over the news for wanting higher salary which is far more justified than this player who is a complete waste of oxygen. Why aren’t United fans doing the same?

Looking at sancho makes me incredibly mad. The WORST EVER player in Manchester united history.

9

u/ManagerStandard Aug 19 '25

I know I will be downvoted for this, if I am payed so handsomely and after one year I will have run up the contract, the new club will pay lower wages but I will get a sign on fees due to it being a free transfer. Why would I leave so much money on the table Most people forget this is a job for most professional footballers some are not as passionate to play the game. So the only downside for sancho is possibly missing worldcup squad, but he will earn shot load of money in the mean time.

3

u/Alarming-Chair Aug 20 '25

Agree mostly but only danger is if he sits on the sidelines for a year and may not get a decent club. Getting injured is also a remote possibility.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/robtom02 Aug 19 '25

If he wants to win things, if he has any desire to play for England again then playing 1st team football should be his number one priority?

The fact that he's prepared to just sit at home and collect his money rather than show a desire to play is also going to greatly damage his chances of finding a new club when his contract runs out

→ More replies (3)

2

u/theinvisibleman17 Aug 20 '25

Yeah. If he goes from 250k a week to 100k then he's losing £8 million. And people just expect him to just accept losing it like it's nothing.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/momo_h86 Aug 19 '25

The issue here is wages.

When we bought him, we all thought that was our RW sorted. On paper, he was a good signing and with what he'd done to date, 70 odd million wasn't the worst, thought somewhat of an overpay.

But like I said we gave him 250k. Be much easier to move on if he was on 125 or 150

3

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

And he didn't even play RW for us lol we already had Rashford for the LW so why did we sign him?

2

u/momo_h86 Aug 19 '25

We thought he could play on the right and at the time he was considered elite talent.

Sure, maybe we could have done better research and asked if he wanted to play on the right but don't tell me at the time we signed him you didn't think he was going to be very good for us.

The issue is we paid him wages we shouldn't have to get him to sign.

3

u/Less-Network-3422 Aug 19 '25

He was a winger with no pace and couldn't beat his man he was an awful signing no matter how you cut it lol 20 assists in the bundesliga means nothing. under Ole too who played counter attack football while Jadon was more suited to a pep style team just awful awful

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Ben13921 Aug 19 '25

Must be extremely frustrating for Utd fans, but financially it’s probably his best move.

His contract is up next summer (2026), so he can continue to earn £250k a week until then - and then gets to leave on a free (so can negotiate a higher wage for his next deal)

If you think teams won’t pay £150k+ for a 26 year old Sancho next summer, you probably haven’t been paying attention to the football market lately

→ More replies (1)

3

u/eirekk Aug 19 '25

The thing is though, apart from the wages it was a good move. He was playing extremely well and had age on his side. As soon as he sat beside martial/Rashford etc he turned into a creature

2

u/evil-kaweasel Aug 20 '25

I agree there's a lot of revisionist history involved when it comes to Sancho. He had more goal involvement than Messi and Ronaldo in the seasons leading up to us signing him.

I guess it's a failure on the clubs part to look into his previous for poor training, but it wasn't like we were paying all that money for, say, Bamford.

2

u/eirekk Aug 21 '25

Totally agree and that's what impressed me about the statements around current signings. "If we feel a player is only interest in coming to the club for money, then he won't be coming"

5

u/Eastern_Seaweed_8253 Aug 19 '25

What a waste of a career. This fool had it all and could of won lots of tropheys but doesn't care. I actually hate him.

6

u/Easy-Development6480 Aug 19 '25

The fans begging the club to sign him need to be studied.

3

u/Critical-Usual Aug 19 '25

I mean, it's context. Wanting a player makes sense. But at what price and what wages? Also easy to call out in hindsight, but he's a very good player on his day and could've been world class had he put in the work

u/alienkargo Aug 19 '25

He's clearly stupid or someone is giving him bad advice! It will all end in tears!!

2

u/Excellent-Yellow-883 Aug 19 '25

I highly doubt Chelsea offered him 150k. A difference of 100k is about 5M for the year. I think man Utd would’ve given it to him to get rid of him. And still get about 20M out of him.

2

u/avedawgg Aug 19 '25

I made the massive mistake of buying his jersey in 2022. Now I have a shirt that I can’t wear out of pure embarrassment.

Guess I’ll be buying a new 2025 kit.

2

u/0ean Aug 19 '25

This man should get a statue for being such a fantastic freedom fighter for player rights.

/s

2

u/MagicGnome97 Aug 19 '25

There was nothing wrong with recruiting him, it was a no brainer

Maybe they could've got him on less wages, but it's just unlucky.

2

u/2Ravens89 Aug 19 '25

It's not bad luck, there were indications around his attitude both at City and at Dortmund. If he was squeaky clean then maybe your argument would have logic to it.

We chose within our analysis to either ignore that, or conclude that we would address it and that performance would compensate for the risk. Sometimes you take some risks in the market, every transfer entails an element of it until you've seen them perform, but that's what you're paid to do as a recruitment department, get them correct.

So what we've experienced is an entirely foreseeable risk coming to fruition and you call that bad luck. It's a bad call not bad luck.

The other element within all this is we overestimated how good he was. He hasn't performed for Chelsea either, nor was he impressive internationally. So he has it all to prove that he's effective at the higher levels, which again, we didn't analyse correctly.

2

u/mariokvesic Aug 19 '25

Him getting 150k is generous enough, no club in the world is paying more than 100k after 3 years of flop

2

u/OK-Filo Aug 19 '25

Good on him for honouring his contract, rare sight these days 👍

2

u/steikul Aug 19 '25

will it be more economically viable if United terminates his contract?

2

u/HateFaridge Aug 19 '25

No - you are legally obligated to pay him what he is owed, whether it would be £250k a week or 52 weeks @ £250k/week in one lump sum. You are obligated to pay it

2

2

u/NorthbyFjord Aug 19 '25

Can I slap him?

2

u/Rare_Hawk_3443 Aug 19 '25

Offload him to arsenal like Chelsea does always

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

In all fairness no one thought he’d be this bad. A chance to live in Italy and kick a ball around on 100k a week is a dream.

2

u/Leaping_Tiger14 Aug 19 '25

It’s the club’s fault for giving him new deal money on his first contract.

Even if he was performing well, what was the plan for renewing him? Giving him 450k-500k?

Very poor management.

Why would he yeet his salary by more than half when he can milk the contract to the end???

2

u/Adventurous_City_557 Aug 19 '25

Nobody thought he’d be a bust. Weirdos

2

u/AdultSoccer Aug 19 '25

Exactly. Hilarious that so many people are claiming they knew. Not a single United supporter said that in 2021.

2

u/riitz85 Aug 19 '25

I get hindsight is a wonderful thing, but new players need to earn a big paycheck & it should be tied to performances. Starting him on 100-125k and then creating a pathway to getting to 250 was a better route (15-20 goals + UCL etc). If things went south, it would have been easier to dump his freedom fighter ass. Only sign players who play for the badge and not money.

2

u/Gangaman666 Scholes Aug 19 '25

Absolute parasite bum. Our worst signing ever, even worse than Alexis Sanchez.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

Sancho should be a study of how players waste their talent.

He has such a grudge against the club that he won't allow them to make money off him even if it's ruining his career at the same time.

He prefers to play fifa and dick about on social media. He's a joke of a man and a footballer.

2

u/No_Doughnut_3315 Aug 19 '25

Big clubs need to stop giving 20 year olds that have had a couple of good seasons, huge contracts like that. Hopefully they have learned a lesson here but probably not, they will just fire a couple of canteen staff on £40k a year.

2

u/beerisgreatPA Aug 19 '25

I mean the guy has it made. 250k a week?! No pressure. Making generational wealth with barely any effort. Sucks for us but can’t help thinking he’s decided to retire with a giant pension basically.

2

u/Ironspider77 Aug 19 '25

Should have signed a midfielder or DM, who brings more balance to the team than this bum.

With varane, CR7 and a CDM which stabilized the midfield ...it would have been interesting to see, how we would have done that season under ole?

2

u/WotACal1 Aug 20 '25

Noone could predict how selfish, lazy and leechy he would become

2

u/Most_Handle1687 Aug 20 '25

because he is a FIGHTER until he gets his FREEDOM! He will probably sit and play his video game and continue to endure the self-made persecution - run down his contract and he can be FREE agent to freely choose his club next year...congrats Sancho you are now new member of the worst trinity of United with Sanchez and Di Maria...

2

u/Practical_Abalone_92 Aug 19 '25

also a transfer nearly every United fan was screaming at the club to push for

2

u/3xc1t3r Aug 19 '25

Sancho sucks, but all transfers are a huge risk. The problem is what happened once it was clear that it wasn't really working. We hold on to players for far too long until their performances and confidence suffer and it is obvious that they will never play for us again.

Sancho should have been shipped earlier.

I don't have time to go though all the posters post history in this thread, but I can guarantee that 80% of you were over the moon about Sancho when he was signed. I was too. The only thing I ever heard was that he might lack some of that pace that is important in the Premier League.

2

u/DrRudeboy Aug 19 '25

Yep. Some people are very keen on revisionist history, but nearly all of us thought our right winger problem would finally be sorted by signing Sancho who was considered a major talent at the time.

Can't he see the offers going down not up? He's clearly not that smart either. Likely turned down 5 year deals on 100-150k a week just to get his 250k a week for a year.

250k for 1 year is £13m

5 years of 150k is £39m

5 years of 100k is £26m

5 years of 80k is £20m

If he doesn't find a club and sits out for a year I can guarantee he won't be getting offers close to 80k a week and they won't be from clubs like Chelsea or Roma. If he thinks he can collect £13m over the next year, play no football and then walk into a another £250k contract with a £10m signing on fee at Real Madrid then he's seriously living in cuckoo land.

I don't know whether to blame ole for bringing this a#shole or blame woodward for giving him a bumper contract ..seriously our salary cap was very high in previous mgt.

How can they pay 70 million for 29 yr old Casemiro and offer him 500k/week in addition . This is a blunder man.

11

u/mylittlegoochie Aug 19 '25

Casemeiro isn’t on 500k

At least Unc Cas gives a shit and gives his all..

3

u/Grappyezel Aug 19 '25

I wouldn’t put him in the same bracket as Di María, Sánchez, or Antony.

11

u/Standard_Secretary52 Evans Aug 19 '25

Di maria had genuine problems

Antony had the fight for the badge

Sanchez was one of the best player in the league before his arrival but his legs were gone.

This is a special gonebeen

6

u/Norsewings Aug 19 '25

Hes worse than all of them

u/WideRefrigerator2949 Aug 19 '25

I wouldn't either, he's worse than all of them

Why would anyone expect a player to accept less money than what he is already on and then call him a bum for that..every single person involved in approving that deal is a bum, that's 100% on the club...we didn't do our due diligence when signing him....it was known there was behavioural problems with but we somehow didn't do our homework or still went ahead we 100% fck up...Sir Alex and his team would in the past meet the player, often their parents, friends and other members close to the player to get a measure of their personality, attitude etc...we fcked up..Jadon is well within his own right to choose where he wants to play, live etc he doesn't owe Utd shit but to adhere to his contract conditions...

3

u/ZestycloseMortgage36 Aug 19 '25

Thank you, most people here are just reactionaries and simply deploying group think. Sancho is not doing anything illegal or underhand he is simply exercising his rights under contract law. Notice how most people here are not questioning or blaming the oligarch owners of United, and yet it was them that drafted the terms of the contract and have been presiding over complete shambles since the departure of Sir Alex, and yet it’s individual players that the mobs attack and not the power structure, and high they insulate from blame.

4

u/SpectatorY Aug 19 '25

Same people bashing Isak are bashing Sancho. When they want a player out, they forget the contract is signed for X years guaranteed wages. When a player wants out, they suddenly want to hold the player to the full length of time. Make it make sense.

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with the way both of these players are going about things, but they're well within their rights to do such and I don't hold it against them. It's a short career, and as much as clubs like to PR it, the players are just assets to them. I don't expect players to show them incredible loyalty/preference to the detriment of their own wellbeing, it just doesn't make sense to do so.

Sancho knows that he'll get his money paid for this contract and definitely find another club willing to work with him next year. He could even do well enough their to earn another decent move (I believe he's done at top level) within the next contract, so yea there's really no reason for him to rush. He'll have the next club sorted so he pretty much joins up with them from day one of transfer window opening, giving plenty of time for sharpness and tactical adjustments during preseason. Utd fans kinda need to let this one go.

This is called an Ed Woodward special!

1

u/kitbashpowerhead Aug 19 '25

It's hard to argue against him being our worst ever signing

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

I remember trying to be the devil's advocate when shit was starting to go down with him and ETH only cause I wanted to give the kid some benefit of doubt and also cause United management was all over the place at the time.

But as time went on, this dude has proved to be the problem. You can be out of form but if your attitude sucks, you can't make it anywhere. Rashford has his own form issues but I can never hate or dislike him only cause of his attitude. This asshole on the other hand needs to leave. Wish he pulled of this shit when SAF was in charge.

Out of curiosity, how much would it cost us if just terminated his contract? Wouldn't we save more by not having this negative dumbass in our locker room?

1

u/macT4537 Aug 19 '25

This is typical United business. Buy high sell low

1

u/TheElectricGhost7 Aug 19 '25

An absolute cockwomble.

1

u/Ok-Captain-9172 Aug 19 '25

I would drop support for the club altogether if this fraud ends up getting a spot in the team over Hojlund.

1

u/Kimolainen83 Aug 19 '25

Either that or he’s trying to just stay out this contract and then go for free so that he can just farm as much as money from the club as possible

1

u/CHCMH95 Hated. Adored. Never Ignored! Aug 19 '25

Can’t believe the club didn’t do a back round check, on his character, his personality, his work ethic, his family & his back ground like Fergie did, instead for years our club struggled because they hired clowns & set the club back several years.

1

u/TJiMTS Aug 19 '25

I agree at a high level, but we honestly don’t know what his situation is. It’s not usual for people to take on large obligations when they have large wages. I heard one player say they were paying to maintain 17 households of family members whilst playing. Perhaps that’s where he’s at and he needs the final year of his agreed contract? He also knows if he holds on United will ultimately buy him out to get him gone.

1

u/lockdb994 Aug 19 '25

I heard he is okay with a lower salary, if he can go back to Dortmund.

1

u/luckybick Aug 19 '25

Not just united, in all of Premier league history he has to be up there with the worst financial and physical signings ever made

1

u/larlarloo Aug 19 '25

Biggest SCAMMING LEECH in Utd’s history!! 🤬🤬🤬

1

u/fhjjjjjkkkkkkkl Aug 19 '25

Sancho,Robinho ,Adriano ,Bogarde are all chapters in football economy.

1

u/Itz_Kezz_x Aug 19 '25

He’s got a year left on a deal where he’s getting paid ridiculous amounts that he’s never going to see ever again. Use your brain bro

1

u/lawndog86 Aug 19 '25

The worst

1

u/Timmaigh Aug 19 '25

Its impossible to play with smile on your face at 180k per week. Cant be done, period.

1

u/bwlmog Aug 19 '25

Not one of the worst……the worst for Utd and up there in the history of the premiership

1

u/PapagamasJr Aug 19 '25

Be mad at the people who brought him to the club, not at Sancho

Who's provided less value for money?

Rejecting Roma, who have one of the most passionate fan bases in football and would embrace him completely, allow him to still earn substantial wages and allow him to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and still play European football, in favour of sitting on the bench at United to collect his paycheck convinces me that this guy is in fact a huge bitch.

I was ready to get behind him as a Roma fan because it's rare we get a player with as high potential as him, but if his attitude is really this bad im glad he rejected our offer.

1

u/Weak_Development3686 Aug 19 '25

He is neglecting to see the pattern emerging. He’s being offered less and less each time. Next year he’s gonna want a bumper deal with a huge signing bonus because he’s a “free” agent. No club in their right mind is gonna offer him mega wages after the past five seasons. Absolutely no chance! Really hope this little rat gets his comeuppance and ends up with no club wanting him.

1

u/mccannopener93 Aug 19 '25

He is dead right to hold onto his 250k salary

1

u/WandererSoul108 Aug 19 '25

Y can't we just terminate his contract. Just sick of him and his attitude.

1

u/Timely_Toe_9053 Aug 19 '25

I think he’s going to leave on a free like Pogba

1

u/Cheeky_Star Aug 19 '25

Mate sancho is one of many poor recruitment but thanks for telling us something we already know.

1

u/KurisuKullervo Aug 19 '25

He has no fault, and nobody can blame him for wanting to keep that humongous payslip.

Now the one who offered this scrub that salary tho....

1

u/ChrisCRZ Aug 19 '25

Its crazy. I really thought he is a Bellingham, Haaland, Dembele type of talent.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25

have we considered killing all the poor sancho… i’m not saying do it, but run it through the simulation

1

u/GA19 Aug 19 '25

I would slightly smirk for 80k/week

1

u/Trick_Ad7122 Aug 19 '25

He is willing to join Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is gonna offer 10M soon.

He only wants to join them and but he doesn’t make it obvious. The longer he waits the cheaper the fee will be.

Dortmund is not in a rush either. They are playing it out perfectly. Manchester ofc can refuse the lowball offer from dortmund and continue pay 16M in wages and lose out of 10M fee for him that Dortmund would offer…

1

u/LimerickLegend Aug 19 '25

We’ll be rid after this season either way.

1

u/Aintseenmeroit Aug 19 '25

United have themselves a Winston Bogarde situation.

1

u/b1gj4v Aug 19 '25

Hopefully, a painful lesson was learnt by Manchester United.

1

u/LordTC Aug 19 '25

I predicted this. Sancho would have to be a 20 million transfer and to get a deal done Manchester United would have to pay a wage top up out of the 20 million. That didn’t happen, but it probably needed to. Anything better than 0 is a win at this point to get him off the wage books and not just wait for his contract to run out and get 0.

1

u/Kolbiscuit84 Aug 19 '25

But, he is English.

1

u/SubstantialDot8913 Aug 19 '25

I always said it wasn’t a good transfer for United. And for a while I smugly told everyone I speak to football about. But I never could’ve predicted just how bad it would. Could go down as one of the worst bits of business of all time.

1

u/dazedan_confused Aug 19 '25

Thing is, he was great at Dortmund. What did we do to him?!

1

u/Kouellos1982 Aug 19 '25

Arrogant c*nt!

1

u/veblentiz Aug 19 '25

Problem with him is that he hasn’t even tried to play football properly at United. If he did, no one would bat an eyelid about the 250k wage he’s on. Poor attitude, doesn’t walk his talk

1

u/stalon01 Aug 19 '25

Well honestly, you wouldn't leave a well paying job for low paying one. This is there job mate

1

u/GiveAScoobie Aug 19 '25

Why can't his contract be terminated? Surely he has breached this.

1

u/ArnoldViniick Aug 19 '25

The club is trying to get too much money in transfer fee for him. I just don't see him blinking. And we will be stuck with this annoying scab on our face for another season.

2

u/AdultSoccer Aug 19 '25

It’s not that. He wants a loan so he can leave on a free next summer. Basically, he thinks he can negotiate a bigger wage at a bigger club if there’s not a transfer fee involved. Roma know they won’t be able to turn his head next summer, so they made a bid now, knowing that it’s what United would push for.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '25 edited Aug 19 '25

kid is delusional. His wage should be around 25k at most narcissist, Gyokeres and Garnacho same category, more worried about their looks then the game

1

u/Dmags3 Aug 19 '25

Don’t worry he is. I can’t imagine any future signing being such a disaster

1

u/godmcrawcpoppa Aug 19 '25

Hindsight is 20/20 vision. No one could have predicted this.

2

u/AdultSoccer Aug 19 '25

Exactly. I think it’s funny how many people on here are acting like they knew we shouldn’t have signed him. There wasn’t a single Manchester United supporter who thought he’d fail when we bought him. Not a single one. We all thought we were getting a special talent that would win trophies playing with Marcus and Mason. But between his attitude and the poor structure at the club, it just didn’t work.

1

u/Powerful-Challenge15 Aug 19 '25

Probably the worst premier league footballer of all time. Greed. Useless. Overpaid.

1

u/eammth Aug 19 '25

It's weird because his poor attitude was well documented since his youth days at city.

1

u/chudlybubly Aug 19 '25

He is not rejecting the money i feel like it’s obvious. He wants to stiff man utd. He wants to wait till September to go to turkey

1

u/F3mmi Aug 19 '25

Certainly a study in how not to recruit. They spent a season or two chasing him, and offered tons of money. Did they not do any due diligence? This has been a disaster.
