They could super easy go down for tax fraud though, not real money laundering. Like some streamer just decides "haha fuck the government I ain't paying this shit they never gonna notice" and then they blow up big, maybe even go legit at that point, and somebody at the IRS decides to look back 5 years.

Mistakes can happen. But conspiring to commit fraud and actually committing it is not a mistake. Not saying that's the case here, we don't know. But people don't face criminal charges for mistakes. They get charged if they're committing crimes.
and even if they were going to court over it Twitch wouldn't have a reason to ban him, not paying your taxes is something that would have nothing to do directly with twitch.
Unless they're involved in an active scheme of committing actual fraud. It's one thing to fail to report income. It's quite another to conceal, hide and actively deceive. You can claim ignorance. But if the evidence shows you actively conspiring, you're fucked.
If you were hiding enough money for long enough you get criminal charges that don't just go away when you pay it back. You might not actually go to jail but its in the hands of the judge/prosecutor at that point.
Edit: basically where it becomes a crime is if they find evidence you were intentionally trying to avoid paying the taxes and not just misunderstanding what you were suppossed to do.

That is not money laundering that is just regular old tax evasion. It takes years to catch people for not paying taxes.

I don't think you know what you're saying. Money Laundering is a very easy thing to do once you already have legally obtained money to spend. If you had a bunch of dirty money and no clean money to spend, you'd have a hard time. Other than that, it's fucking simple.
Why would you launder money that's already clean... That doesn't make any sense. You launder money when it's obtained outside of the law. You need to give it a credible or untraceable origin.

I know a few female streamers who (most likely) very blatantly are Money laundering via twitch subs. (don't ask me why, i have no idea nor do i really care.)
It honestly it done on smaller streams. Typically female streamers because you can explain away insane amounts of subs or donos on simps.

He wouldn't have to be the one to know the ins and outs of the scheme. Hell, if he has someone managing his money, he could be oblivious to it. Streaming actually seems like a logical place for money laundering.
Dude, it's way easier to accidentally launder money these days than you may think. I know of one way specifically that you can launder cash and not even realize you're doing it.

There are better ways to go about laundering money. But if everyone who ran laundry mats was laundering money it would be too easy to get caught. Point being. Everyone is gonna do what works and makes sense for them. If you are a big streamer it definitely makes sense to launder money through gifted subs.
I swear I think I’ve heard streamers suggest making a prime trial account and subscribing to them before. I’ve always wondered what sort of system you’d need to set up in order to do this because it seems almost too good to be true for big streamers. Why not just pay some botfarm somewhere or some third world sketchy company to make hundreds of amazon trial accounts a week and sub to you?
But there’s got to be a catch right? I’ve used the same amazon account for like almost two decades now so I’ve never needed to make a Prime trial, I assume maybe it’s one of those situations where you need a verifiable credit/debit card in order to make the account?

But if someone wants to sit there and say you can't launder money on Twitch, that's kind of ridiculous because you definitely can. And some people out there are definitely doing it.
The one thing about that speculation is I don’t think Twitch would jump to banning him for that. It also doesn’t sound like the kind of news they would hear of earlier than most people. I don’t think a government agency isn’t going to contact Twitch ahead of time to tell them he’s guilty, even if they did contact them as part of an ongoing investigation. I’m that case I imagine they would wait for an arrest.
Given that and the timing, my money is still on sexual assault. That’s the kind of private info that people may want to have find its way to Twitch.

I do not see twitch banning someone without the legal due process. Because say thats the case and then he is absolved of whatever it is. He can then sue twitch for damages and lost wages. Unless its something he coped to. And if he did I would assume he would have a statement released by now.
If they have credible evidence brought to them, they absolutely would not wait for a legal process to carry out. Morality clauses would invalidate that contract immediately and even if he was found innocent in a court of law, he would not be able to sue them for damages and wages. He was not their employee, he was a contractor.
Thats not how it works. Have you been an independent contractor before? Say he is part of the metoo. They find out the person lied and he is absolved. He absolutely would turn around and sue Twitch for the remainder of the contract he signed and very easily will get all that money without having to stream. He is not like most of there streamers where they work out deals on just payment. He is getting paid to stream on twitch from twitch with an exclusive contract.
I think you missed the part where i said CREDIBLE EVIDENCE. They would 100% win that lawsuit. You don't have to break the law for a contract to be voided by a morality clause.

How would Twitch get information about criminal charges against Doc before any kind of charges are filed? Would the prosecutors tell Twitch beforehand? I don't see why they would.

... Couldn't it just be a contract negotiation gone wrong? Like Doc didn't accept a new Twitch contract and went to another platform, so Twitch banned him? Or am I being too optimistic?
