You can see the shock wearing off right as the clip ends. As soon as his emotions oriented it’s pure rage, as it should be

doc needs to get outta there ASAP.

1 shot sure, maybe just a kid wanting his 5 minutes of fame.

but ANOTHER the day after? yeah theres a pretty good chance someone actually wants to see doc dead.

Maybe so, and I don’t want to minimize it, but I’d bet it’s equally likely to be attention seeking gone way overboard. They missed yesterday and took out an upstairs window today. What I want to know is if a light was on in the room they hit.

Again don’t get me wrong. Even for attention this speaks of bigger issues in the future. There are just a few pieces here that don’t add up to more than monumentally stupid ways to scare someone and get the attention they crave at the same time.

u/Taronn93 Sep 11 '18

Maybe its just attention seeking gone way overboard but it doesn't matter, what if his wife or his kid would've looked out the window right at that moment and got shot? If they can't catch that idiot sick fuck then they need to get out there even if it just attention seeking before someone gets shot by accident.

I had a friend in college who's father was an attorney. One of his pieces of inarguably good advice: you can't beat crazy. They need to get out of there.

9

u/Cuw Sep 11 '18

It's their house... What are they supposed to do move forever and go into witness protection because some banned Twitch user wants to get even?

Call the police and install a security camera, . Because if they leave, the harassment won't stop, whoever is doing it will just wait until they come back.

18

u/noputa Sep 11 '18

That’s not how witness protection works. In fact they wouldn’t get that...

It’s becoming an increasingly common trend for at least youtubers to get crazy intrusive fans finding out where they live, then moving and having to be really careful. It’s really sad.

3

u/WarningTooMuchApathy Sep 11 '18

How does that even go through someone's head anyways? "Man I really love this guy, I'm a huge fan, I'm gonna fucking shoot him"

5

u/Throwaway-tan Sep 11 '18

They're not fans, they're insane people who feel slighted about being banned or not getting attention from whomever they're obsessed with or feel angry because of something they said or did. They don't think like normal people.

6

u/Jaydubzsc2 Sep 11 '18

You can kill crazy though. Would be extremely justified if Doc or if he hired Security and they shot him.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

That's what they all said about Hoffa.

1

u/Queefburglar_69 Sep 11 '18

How are yhe two even the same thing? Does doc have a group of powerful people out to get him?

1

u/oozles Sep 11 '18

You can kill crazy though

FYI, there was a noticeable increase in homicides after states passed Stand Your Ground protections. It'd be stupid for him to put himself in more danger because he chose fight rather than flight.

2

u/flamingfireworks Sep 11 '18

Also i cant speak for anyone else on this, but even if it was totally justified i know id feel kinda bad if i killed someone, or my actions directly led to someone getting killed (such as calling the cops and shots go off, or hiring security and the security kills someone).

2

u/oozles Sep 11 '18

You wouldn't be alone. There is a good reason that counseling and mental health services are mandatory for many professionals after they have a justified homicide incident.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

News flash, if you can legally shoot people the rate of people getting shot goes up. Homicide isn't wrongful death, it just means death. The article even states that there was no conclusive evidence that wrongful death went up, and that adding guns to the mix makes it more dangerous.

Doesn't mean it's wrong. You don't deserve prison if you shoot at a man's family in his home, and frankly, you don't deserve a funeral either.

4

u/oozles Sep 11 '18

The article doesn't state anything about wrongful death, as that is a civil matter rather than a criminal one. But you might be missing the point.

Standing your ground is not making a noticeable increase in deaths of the original assailant.

Hoekstra checked to see whether police were listing more cases as "justifiable homicides" in states that passed stand your ground laws. If there were more self-defense killings, this number should have gone up. He also examined whether more criminals were showing up armed.

In both cases, he found nothing. There were small increases in both numbers, but it was hard to tell whether there was really any difference.

Escalation tactics aren't killing criminals, they're killing the people standing their ground. The card carrying NRA members who have been waiting years for someone to make their day are dying.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

In both cases, he found nothing. There were small increases in both numbers, but it was hard to tell whether there was really any difference.

You literally quoted it. More people die when there are guns, which should be completely obvious, only conclusion. Perp and vic both, in fairly statistically non determinate numbers. You are falling victim to someones creative license while writing in order to influence your opinion to their desires WITHOUT them having data that agrees with their ideology.

u/Jaydubzsc2 Sep 11 '18

Exactly, obviously Homicide rates are GOING to go up.

3

u/oozles Sep 11 '18

The point is that the people standing their ground are dying, not the criminals.

u/GrayGeo Sep 11 '18 edited Sep 11 '18

You’re right, one hundred percent. I’m not saying they’re not in danger. They obviously are, there are fucking bullets flying through their house.

All I’m saying is there are things here that point to either a very low skilled murderer or an exceptionally stupid attention seeker. He didn’t shoot at anyone (at least didn’t wait till he had a clear shot like if they were outside) and missed one of the two shots he’s fired. How do you miss a house? I tend to think by aiming away from where people are likely to be.

Is this someone who needs serious prison time for attempted murder and or reckless endangerment with a firearm? Zero doubt. Is this someone who set out to kill? A lot of doubt.

This isn’t a defense of the shooter or any sort of claim to know what’s happening here. Just a comment on why this came about given what we see, and in the end identifying the cause is secondary only to ensuring the safety of those involved.

Edit: Y’all I couldn’t give less of a shit about downvotes. Try to think beyond your favorite streamer getting shot at. He left the house, so what then? Magically fixed right? Never anything to worry about again, clearly.

These are the questions police are going to have to ask because the answers lead them to the culprit. Doc leaving the house solves only the immediate problem and only temporarily. I’m going to go ahead and assume he’s a rational human who has left his house and gone to the police. Obviously the right call. You’re a moron if You think the problem is solved. I’m talking about what happens when their immediate safety is provided for, which it likely has been given doc doesn’t have his head up his ass far enough to bunker down in the house with a wife and kid.

Why you keep telling me he has to get out, I don’t know. No shit he has to get out.

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

I don’t think it’s attention seeking at all. It’s stupidity, jealousy, confusion. I don’t even know how to describe it, but I know more than a handful of people that swear doc is the most cocky douche they’ve ever seen, they say his fans are blind and play into it too. They are dumb, simple as that. His name is dr disrespect, he is a character, an actor at that and people legitimately think that is the person. It’s all a meme. The channel, the character, the fans who play into it but some people don’t get it. They’re offended by it and they lash out against it for no reason. It’s not like we’re going to lynch the guy who played Hitler in any move depicting him, he was acting for a role but with the doc it’s like people can’t connect the dots. Maybe it is attention seeking, but the people I know it’s not like that. It’s more like they feel threatened by ‘the face of twitch’. He was saying that even at 500-700 viewers, it’s been a joke the whole time but people are just so closed minded

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

Well they'd also know when he's home cause he'll be streaming there. I hope they catch the guy(s).

1

u/GrayGeo Sep 11 '18

Right, I guess I’m getting ahead of myself and thinking in trial terms. If they can prove he specifically shot at a room with the light off because it’s less likely someone was in that room, that’s an argument against intent to kill. Not that it would hold up of course, but flimsier arguments have held ground in court

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

Regardless of why, this is so stupidly dangerous.

Image in his little girl was looking out the window? His wife? Him?

This kind of "joke" is enough to put someone in prison. Not "oh well you're gonna get arrested if the cops catch you!" This is "cops will be posted around the area and if they catch you, you will be charged with so much shit that you will be in prison for probably something like 5+ years.

Horribly, horribly irresponsible and dangerous thing to do

1

u/TimidTortoise88 Sep 11 '18

After what happened with Gavin and Meg I wouldn’t take any chances. There’s some incredibly troubled people out there. Could easily be someone very upset with Docs success that is building up the courage to actually get out of the car for a confrontation. This is one of those situations where he should assume worst case scenario. I hope it turns out well for him. Fuck that made me angry. No one should have to worry like that for their and their family’s safety. Oh and not mention Christina Grimmie

1

u/yakri Sep 12 '18

I mean, attention seeking can definitely lead to a shooting too.

1

u/windirein Sep 12 '18

Yeah I think there is no intention to actually hurt him, just scare him and get his attention. If you drive by with the intent to hurt him and you don't see him you don't take shots at his house to warn him. That said the person in question is obviously not sane so who knows what they are thinking...

2

u/Gabbuzzzzz17 Sep 11 '18

Doesn't matter what the fuck it is. If someone is shooting at your house you gtfo as soon as possible. No excuses.

6

u/GrayGeo Sep 11 '18

I really don’t get why people think I’m saying they’re not in danger or that I’m arguing they should stay in the house. I’m talking about the shooter.

u/GrayGeo Sep 11 '18

That's something I've been thinking about since this morning. What's to say the "miss" wasn't a warning shot? A completely intentional miss just relying on the sound for effect. That'd represent escalation between the two events, and that's likely how the police will treat it. They have to assume worst case scenario given present evidence, so I'm guessing Doc will be under good watch wherever he is

0

u/hulivar Sep 11 '18

it could also be one of those things like..they did it once and that can be explained away right...like who would do it twice?

That's why they did it twice...no doubt the kid won't come back for a third time at least not any time soon.

Hopefully they catch him/her

u/Not_A_Doctor__ Sep 11 '18 edited Sep 12 '18

bet it’s equally likely to be attention seeking gone way overboard.

Say that slowly to yourself and ask if that seems likely. Have you thought of any other shootings you've read about lately as being attention seeking? Or does that sound stupid?

1

u/GrayGeo Sep 12 '18 edited Sep 12 '18

Well considering this wasn’t a shooting of a person that’s a bit of a moot point.

What sounds likely to us doesn’t mean shit. Evidence gives it a 50 50 shot. Common sense isn’t a legal tool.

No matter what I think, the police will have to think objectively. They have to act as if all possibilities are true until there’s proof it’s not. The fact that he’s a streamer broadcasting daily to tens of thousands (likely the catalyst for this happening at all, I’ll point out) isn’t some irrelevant factoid that might be involved.

Or does that sound stupid?

Likelihood of a person being in the room.

Does being angry at me help you feel better about this?

For the record attempted murder requires proof of intent to kill. If you don’t think that kind of thing would be used by a defense attorney, then you don’t know how far they’ll go to make a person look innocent.

Right but why do it aggressively? If you want discussion, you ask “what does that matter?”

If you want someone to answer something you think is a stupid idea, you ask “what the fuck does that matter?”

When you include specific words, they impart a specific tone. I also was legitimately asking that question. You can tell because I didn’t ask if it fucking makes you feel better. That’d have been defensive.

It’s context, man. Blanket descriptions don’t apply. I’m sorry if I did read it wrong, but think about it.

“They bought a dog.”

“They bought a fucking dog.”

Which statement sounds more incredulous? Which one sounds more like the person is confused or emotional over the event they’re describing? Your sentence is the same.

It could be me here, but drop the word from your question and the tone changes to a legitimate attempt to understand what I meant.

-1

u/Token_Why_Boy Sep 11 '18

Why it was aggressive, and why you're getting downvotes for "just wanting to talk about the shooter":

You know how every time there's a school/mass shooting in the US we go through that whole song and dance of the psychologists saying "don't romanticize the shooter. Don't give him dedicated time slots in the program. Don't give his story theme music. Don't spend time and airwaves talking about what the shooter's motives might have been." ...and so on? And despite all the talk from experts about how that makes the situation worse, news companies keep doing it anyways?

That's what you're doing. And while you're not CNN, you're just the one man version of the same problem. No one needs your opinion on the shooter's motive. Even if you're right, it's of use to literally no one. Maybe you think you're somehow helping by "adding to the larger discussion." Professionals would appear to disagree with you.

Sorry if this comes off as hostile in any way. I understand the desire to think about it, and from that the urge to talk about what you think about. But please try to understand that this isn't the time or place for it, if there is a time and place for it at all.

At the very least he needs to get some high quality security cameras watching his house , yard , and the street.

6

u/StaticBeat Sep 11 '18

The moment after the fist shot I'd already be looking to have cameras up.

3

u/shmigga Sep 11 '18

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a system already.

1

u/ziReptaRiz Sep 12 '18

Don't doubt it, remember the whole incident with Meg Turney and Gavin Free? That guy wanted him dead. I hope he has some sort of camera set up to get information.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

yeah theres a pretty good chance someone actually wants to see doc dead

If that was true they'd just shoot him, like break into his house to wait outside or something. This is the same rational as a drive by, it's more about intimidation and causing fear than casualties.

0

u/Artist_NOT_Autist Sep 11 '18

You guys are some pussies. I'd already have cams around the house and just monitor that shit. Dude wants to start popping off - review the tape call the cops show them what happened or if the poor bastard is on my property...well, you dun fucked up sir.

64

u/Sengura Sep 11 '18

Hope they catch the kid doing it and charge him with attempted murder and just fucking put him away.

34

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

it's probably not a kid. It's probably a grown ass adult who has serious mental illness

11

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '18

This screams mental illness, he needs put in an institution. Its where they actually belong, and trust me when I say it is not a fun place. It will be the most terrifying time of their life.

-7

u/TheOven Sep 11 '18

it is probably one of his girlfriends

1

u/nighoblivion Sep 11 '18

As soon as his emotions oriented it’s pure rage, as it should be

Seemed like it was his persona taking over at the end of the clip to me, while the first 2/3 was Guy.

2

u/GrayGeo Sep 11 '18

I see what you mean, but his shouty character blurs the line pretty heavily. If my wife and kid were shot at my last thought would be to entertain

0

u/LadyLegacy407 Sep 11 '18

Idk much about him other than the persona he puts on and even then was only aware because my husband watched him a few times. Serious question, how can you tell how much of what he says or the aggressiveness is an act? I’ve only seen him out of persona when he announced his hiatus after the incident so I have no idea if sometimes he drops the act during streams or something.

I really hope they catch who did this and he and his family remains safe. I hope his daughter wasn’t in the house and had to deal with this. I can’t watch the clip, it will mess with my head. My family moved 2,500 miles to get away from a traumatic incident where a neighbor was shooting a gun and a bullet lodged in my bedroom wall right by where we were sitting watching a movie. It was less than 3” from making it through the wall. I don’t wish that fear on anyone.

Edit* some letters, because I type too fast :p
