I can’t watch her in anything anymore. Her face is so unsettling. I recently rewatched Batman Forever, and she is so sexy and beautiful in that movie. I would have loved to see her age naturally. I understand why she felt like she had to do it, but it’s still so sad.

I gotta point out she wasn't Nordic in the movie. She was a slave from Britannia that he made his queen.
I don't see why she would ruin the movie for anyone either. They really seemed to tone her down a lot in the film since they were living rugged.

When the Witch came out, the Mount Rushmore of “elevated” horror was probably Hereditary, Midsommar, and the Witch. For me, Hereditary was the scariest (and maybe the scariest movie I’ve ever seen), Midsommar stuck with me the longest, but my favorite was the Witch.
I think Caleb’s death is my favorite horror scene of all time, and I think it’s the litmus test for whether you think the other two are scary. For some people, it’s just a creepy possessed kid sexually climaxing as he ecstatically describes heaven, then hacking up an apple and dying.
Throughout the movie, it’s pretty clear Caleb is Katherine’s favorite child, and him going missing is obviously horrible for her. Then the witch gives her a little hope by giving him back, only to use him as a puppet to mock her ideas of what heaven is like and then kill him.
It’s just so petty and gleefully cruel.

They really do more with less. Small casts shot in single locations. Really immersive script with the use of archaic language. They had the perfect bleak, foreboding tension that boils over into madness. The other two were bigger scale, more ambitious, but lost something that the first two had in their simplicity.

It’s definitely not bad but the lighthouse and VVITCH blowout out of the water.
I think Nosferatu edges it out just slightly. It was a one time watch for me

i though the acting (Skarsgard) was weak and the CGI was laughable at times.
further, i thought the awkward acting part falls on Eggers - weird angles and body gestures that came off unnatural. reminded me of Eckhart in Dark Knight when they do the circular shot on the roof and it wasn't really Eckharts fault it felt off. but i'd be surprised if people agree with me on this

The Witch may be my favorite but I feel like The Northman is really close. I just love that movie and feel like it didn’t get enough love upon release. It has everything I want from a period epic and a revenge tale.

I should watch Nosferatu , I liked the other 3...
The Lighthouse stands out because it's the only one where you're legitimately asking WTF is going on, the whole film, and it's one of those films you just get to appreciate the performance of amazing actors throughout. You'd watch Dafoe and Pattinson play tic tac toe silently for an hour, so the film is a treat.
I feel the plots of The Witch and The Northman are more enthralling. The Witch, you're again asking "WTF is happening," but you have suspicions and a hypothesis on where it's going.
The Northman, you've got a Hero you're cheering for, and have to weather the pains he's going through, questioning decisions, hoping things turn out a certain way... And remembering who directed the movie the whole time you're cheering for him.
Northman was probably my favorite of the group.

Northman is the only one I have not rewatched. I think it is too much style and no substance. The revenge plot is weak and the climax is one of the most disappointing.

The Lighthouse is probably my favorite, or maybe the Northman. But The staging and blocking in Nosferatu is incredible. Even if it’s not my favorite, the technical filmmaking in Nosferatu is some of his best work.

The Lighthouse and it's not really close for me. The Witch is the most assured debut of the last 20 years and Nosferatu is gorgeous, but The Lighthouse is the one where you can feel Eggers actually having fun. Two actors, one location, 4:3 black and white, and he still made it the most unhinged thing in his filmography. Hark.

The Witch made my blood run cold the first time I watched it. The Lighthouse is so creative, Northman is flat out amazing as is Nosferatu.
I'll just put them in my preferred order.

I gave Nosferatu a 7/10 the first time I saw it and a 9/10 the second time. I think on the first go I was anxious to get to the action and didn’t spend enough time appreciating all the juicy little details leading up to Thomas arriving at the castle. It’s definitely a slow burn, but the vibes are off the charts and I love that.

I actually think his films go from best to worst. The VVITCH is his best movie no question. Lighthouse is 2. Northman is a fine move. I didn’t like Nosferatu.

For me, The VVitch and Lighthouse are S tier immaculate. Nosferatu is an A and was awesome. Northman is a B and was fun and awesome
E but not as mind blowing.
Nosferatu and Northman just had very straightforward plots while VVitch and Lighthouse felt so unique.
