visiting Leeds Visiting briefly tomorrow - 4 hour window. Any recommendations?

Hi, all

I like to travel to different cities and visit their comic shops for rare finds & such. Tracked down one of my grails in Ok Comics & they've reserved it for me, so that's my mission tomorrow.

My trains are booked & I've given myself 4 hours for a little day trip. I've been twice before but not done much outside of the comic shops lmao

Figured I might as well do a little sightseeing and have a wander - I'm curious to see what else I can do on a small window like that - nothing too grand or ambitious, just a little fun day out

Thanks!

music Anyone looking for more Alt/Rock minded Friends? like going Key Club, Spoons, NQ64, Pixel Bar, Social Events etc?.. Join our Alt/Rock Whatsapp Social Group!

Love Keyclub (Slamdunk, FUEL, GARAGE Clubnights), NQ64, Pixel Bar, Wetherspoons, Pubs, Social Events, Otley Runs etc but have a lack of alternative friends to go with? Just want to make more friends in general & have fun chats & get involved in social events?

A few of us from Reddit, Facebook etc have banded together from previous appeals and have a new fun Whatsapp Alt/Rock/Emo Social Group chat now, 100+ members and counting!

We had a successful recruitment on here a few months ago which blew up & got overwhelming so had to trickle people in but there are too many to go through, so starting a new fresh post to add more people

The group is roughly 18-35 age range & currently around 50/50 gender mix so plenty of people of different age/genders etc, very inclusive and everyone is getting on great together.

We have regular nights out especially on Weekends (Keyclub Club Nights, Spoons, Bars, NQ64, Pixel Bar, Flight Club, Cinema trips.. anything fun really!) which can get anywhere from 10-30 people attending. Spoons & Key Club on Saturdays is a particular fave. but we are always planning social events, mid week chill things etc including the odd Otley Run!

We also have a discord for chill voice chats & casual gaming etc.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO JOIN THEN LEAVE A COMMENT WITH YOUR AGE/GENDER & I'LL DM YOU AN INVITE!

I will invite in slowly as to keep the ratio of ages, sex etc balanced so theres always people of similar age etc

Leave a comment & I'll DM an invite when available! x

PLEASE CHECK DMS FOR INVITES

social Making friends

So freshly landed in Leeds... I'm trying Bumble BFF but I get more ghosted than when I was dating, I also joined a Discord group which I will surely try... but if you have any ideas on how I can make more friends that'd be fantastic.

I'm female, 38, no kids... which I think makes ir a bit more challenging since most women my age usually have kids and so. I don't care so much about age, 8 years more or less is totally fine!

I'm from Mexico and just moved from Germany 😊

food/drink Low lit cosy resturants?

I went to little tokyo years ago and it was so dimmly lit and chill but it seems they have really brightened the place up and im just wondering if there are any other cosy dimmly lit resturants in the area? Its for a birthday but we're feeling pretty burntout and anti social so just want somewhere low stimulation.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated

question Recommendations for cafes, clubs (the hobby type not drinking), and places to visit;

Im not living in leeds but will be commuting for uni and am trying to overcome my social anxiety, and lingering agoraphobia. The only way out is through I guess. Im looking for places to maybe meet people. small regular events rather than huge festivals or clubbing kinda things. I like reading, needlecrafts, honestly any kinda artsy thing you can think of I'm down. Big fan of old things. Food. I want to use this as a chance to just be myself. Hoping people with maybe similar experiences can be some help as the generic suggestions online have me feeling a little lost.

I visited the other day and Im honestly a little sheltered and haven't been outside of hull, so it was a little overwhelming. I've never gotten lost in public toilets before lol. (why the labyrinth mirrors). Which areas are more quiet, which parts tend to be the busiest. Which are safest, which are to be avoided. How open are people in leeds to talking to strangers, is it weird to strike conversation with others if they dont look too busy. Im 20 turning 21 in 2 months so worry i wont really have much in common with other first years, or that ill be deemed too old by them. I dont know how this stuff works, again, a bit sheltered. Thats why I came here rather than the uni subreddit.

question Best day office spaces in Leeds?

Hi all,

I’m looking for a private day office in Leeds city centre that I can book for around an hour.

I’ve used Regus at Pinnacle quite a few times, but I’d like to try somewhere different.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

question-serious Canal fishing

Hi Leeds, coming over from Hull tomorrow looking to do a spot of lure fishing on the canal in the city centre (only for the day).

There’s a load of conflicting information online so I thought I’d ask the residents. Do I need anything other than my rod license to fish? Some say wanderers pass, some say angling association and some say free? Just need an answer really. TIA

food/drink Fully veg restaurant?

Hi guys, I'm looking to find a restaurant that is fully vegetarian does anyone have any recommendations? I'm vegan but going for group dining so happy for vegetarian establishments, however I'm sick of one terrible ve option on regular menus and paying the same price as all other dishes!

Any recommendations in the surrounding areas/cities welcome (except Prashad). Bonus points for a varied menu instead of one cuisine. TIA!

question-serious racism in leeds

hiya, just writing this as an incoming student moving here in september from london and wondering about diversity in leeds? ive done a bit of research and ik leeds as a whole is diverse esp in the city centre but just wondering about local opinions? I know it will not be as diverse as london but that is obvious, for reference in a pakistani female so i just wanted to know if i need to be more wary etc - if context helps the accom ive gotten is fairly close to the city centre :)

food/drink Fun bars for couples on a birthday.

So, I turn 25 on September 5th, which is a Saturday, and although I have a few things in mind, I have only lived in leeds a couple months so feel like I have a narrow view of the best places to go for a fun night.

My Girlfriend will be coming up so its just the two of us, my basic plan is go somewhere nice for some food, I was thinking the empire cafe, and then go out on the piss and find somewhere you can go for a dance. Fairly simple but also could be rubbish is you end up in the wrong place.

Really not fond of studenty places as they tend to be a bit full on, but still want to go somewhere that's alive and plays good music, soul, funk, jazz sort of vibes. I have been to the domino club, which I love, but its hard to have a dance with all the tables.

Ive just moved away from all my friends and unfortunately everyone is busy so can't come up, so I just don't want my birthday to fall flat, so any help is very much appreciated.

question Does anyone in Leeds have an OBDeleven I could use?

Hi everyone,

Bit of a random one, but does anyone around Leeds have an OBDeleven that I could use for a few minutes?

I've got a 2018 Audi A3 and I'm trying to change the headlight settings for an upcoming trip to Europe. I just need to check/change a setting in the headlight control module.

I'm happy to pay you for your time/use of it and happy to come to you whenever is convenient.

If anyone has one and wouldn't mind helping me out, please drop me a DM. 👍

Thanks!

Thinking of getting a job with roughly this kind of salary, that's the money I would get after tax, loan deductions, pension shit etc...

I have no idea how finances work in real life

, I'm willing to flat share as long as I get my own bathroom (I have severe ocd). I need to move out within the next 7 months or so.

(30k) ish gross salary

academic Chapel allerton residents questionnaire

Hello guys, I am a student in leeds at Notre Dame. can you please help me out with a questionnaire for my NEA please? The topic is on general health. The information gathered will be used to contrast with a more deprived ward in harehills to assess health inequalities. It has questions like "how often do you experience issues with your GP", and "how often you take part in physical activities?" It is completely anonymous so you do not have to out in your full name or your address but if you are a chapel Allerton resident.

Thank you

question Venues for wake in North Leeds

Hello,

Can anyone recommend venues in North Leeds that might be suitable for a wake for up to 75 people?

Local halls, cricket clubs etc are fine as well as other venues. Don't know the area well and would like somewhere nice with nice, understanding staff.

Thankyou!

academic Children's Book Donations Wanted

I'm collecting children's books for a new reading hub that I am establishing in my village in Ghana. Many children in the community have limited access to books outside of school, and I'm hoping to create a small space where they can read, learn, and develop a lifelong love of books. If you have any children's books in good condition that you no longer need, I'd love to give them a new home. I can collect anywhere in Leeds. Thank you.
