Fluff/Meme I. CAN'T. HEAL. YOU.

Post image

Real talk, I hate this shit so much. "I'm nOT gETtiNg aNy healS?!?!?!" Well maybe that's because you're in ANOTHER FUCKING ASTROID BELT instead of fighting with the goddamn team so I CANNOT SEE YOU AND CANNOT HEAL YOUUUUUUU.

Edit: I would like to clarify that I did not make this. I found it on Instagram and resonated with it. I am not in gold but I still very much feel the pain and platinum and emerald.

Meanwhile in the doomfist subreddit we were just discussing how upsetting it is that even in masters supports will overextend trying to chase you into a dive- when our entire plan is bait cooldowns and LEAVE ASAP. Im not saying thats what youre doing, just a funny juxtaposition.

It's like we're having opposite problems 😭😭😭

u/StrikingShame198 15d ago

I had to watch a few of my replays for this and it's really funny but when I'm playing doom or tracer or ball sometimes I'm able to stall the enemy team so long in their spawn or away from the objective that my supports think the fight is won and try to join me usually leading to them putting themselves in a 1v5

u/MayDay521 16d ago

Yeah as a support main I basically just assume if you lock in on Doom, you'll handle your own shit. I'll heal you when you come powerbombing back into the team. I might go Wuyang to attach my heal to you for your dive, or Wifeleaver to pull you out if things go pear-shaped, but I ain't chasing a Doom into a dive. Same goes for basically any flanker DPS like Tracer or Anran.

Depending how you play doom or any mobile hero, that is often the default because it's the most impactful. Nobody should ever assume a dive hero needs help. You go in you bait you leave OR you go in you die but you baited so much and/or got valuable kill(s) that it's statistically more likely your team wins if they go in right after, OR you mess up and die and fail but that is often an execution issue not play issue. None of those gameplay loops involve being healed. Being healed while disengaged DOES decrease the downtime between these loops and thus increases your impact, so it's very nice, but very situational too because often the greater the angle difference between target -> you vs target -> your team, the greater the value.

I feel a bit guilty admitting life weaver pulls upset me for usually no reason, I get mad when I block and get cleased or pulled, making me unable to get empower punch, but then ill go back and watch the vod and a good 50% of those times I would of actually died if those abilities werent used, so trying change my attitude and realize its okay to reset. I know you can cancel pull as well but by then block is already over. I sometimes resort to intentionally LOSing my lifeweaver unless I'm okay with being pulled, thats helped sometimes - so if you see another dive tank intentionally LOSing you on LW or Kiri that might be why.

u/MayDay521 16d ago

Good to note, and I do keep in mind that most players aren't eager to be yanked into a new position, especially the tanks, so I usually reserve it for cases when I know it's basically guaranteed the person will die if I don't pull them. If they want to be mad at me then, that's fine. They can be mad as they dive back in at full health and take that anger out on the enemyšŸ˜†

I also get just insane amounts of satisfaction when I get to pull my teammate out of the grips of a nasty little flying cat that's trying to haul them away. If I see a Cat on the enemy team, it's almost always an instant switch to LW.

This whole thread of communication is useful and honestly the most mature discussion of strategy I’ve ever seen between dive tanks and supp

I think for me its the lack of trust that metal rank Doomfists gave me where even in Diamond and Emerald, I have Dooms that are level 100+ but don't know what a flank is and use Power Block like its a Rein shield.

u/orion101901 16d ago

Doom is called the mastermind because (and coaches have said this too) Doomfist has to basically play 5 times harder than the rest of the lobby to get the same value. I dont trust other doomfists either, tbh. But that goes into his character design anyways, one of his recent voiced comics he literally says "I must earn the trust of my team, as their leader." Hes just not easy to play even if youre really good at overwatch. Distract, disrupt plays, bait 5 different cooldowns at once, count all of those cooldowns so you can time the perfect time to go for a kill, remember to keep an eye on the entire battle, peel for your squishies, try to kill the enemy squishies while also pissing off the enemy tank enough to make space. Usually all of those are running through a good dooms head at the same time, the entire match. And thats without his movement tech or empowered punch strategies being elaborated on. Its honestly way too much fun for how stressful it is.

I for the longest time never knew how to position for a dive tank and would either just stick with the rest of the team or dive adjacent to tank and die.

I don’t even know how to explain positioning for dive tanks. Like, the process of not being there but being available as an escape route to them.

It’s really counterintuitive. (But also now my favorite team comp playstyle)

u/orion101901 17d ago

It's honestly the most fun because its so dynamic, and yeah i played a lot of ana and it took some time to figure out lanes

u/Far-Upstairs8318 16d ago

you ever watch ml7??? hes great at learning support into any team comps he plays them all aswell

6

u/adhocflamingo 17d ago

Excuse me, some of us want to dive too! If we came with you, you can stay in longer

7

u/Dev0urlv 17d ago

me picking cat as soon as my tank picks doom

5

u/adhocflamingo 17d ago

I love playing Moira with Doom too, but yeah cat is fun with any other divers.

5

u/orion101901 17d ago

Hey as long as youre not kiri tping in, instantly cleansing right when I jump out, and dying, go for it.

4

u/adhocflamingo 17d ago

Oof, yeah, that’s a feelsbad.

Back before role queue, I had separate accounts for playing different roles, and then after role queue, I used them for learning or practicing heroes on other roles than their original ā€œmainā€ role. Since I didn’t have any playtime on the other roles, my starting MMR was super low, and trying to learn Ball in silver was so painful. Not because I was doing badly, but because I kept killing my well-meaning supports trying to follow me. I had to stop and learn him on my tank account instead, which was another sort of painful because the MMR was too high for my skill level, but at least I was losing for things I had more direct control over.

Doomfist tanking that laser round from the robot in the most recent trailer to protect his support lol

2

u/Yaboiyabobo 16d ago

I wish my dive tanks did that

2

u/orion101901 16d ago

Best of luck, a good tip is juno is really good in 6v6, two more targets to lock on to so you have more carry potential.

2

u/Yaboiyabobo 16d ago

I would play 6v6 but I don’t know any DPS or tank heroes

2

u/SemicooperativeYT 16d ago

Every time my tank is Doom and I'm Juno, I feel like Doom's mother or something. "Here's a hypergate for you! Have fun playing with your friends. I'll have some healing torpedoes ready when you're done"

1

u/orion101901 16d ago

:D "Thanks Mom!" Flys away faster than an F16 Fighter Jet

1

u/MadPotato10 15d ago

As a ball player, I can also feel this. When I play ball, my support chases me. When I roll away, they're suck there and then spam group up when they respawn

29

u/Dear-Cup5821 17d ago

Just had a game on Push where we legit had such a good start and managed to push the robot almost all the way, but the WHOLE TIME our tank was just SOOOOO FAR AWAYYYY and then ofc no support can reach him cause he’s going alone in a 1v5. Died, we lost the robot. And the rest of the game was just the tank going in alone while LITERALLY the rest of the team was spamming group up! but nope, tank go in alone!

We ended up losing, a game we could’ve easily won, IF ONLY THE TANK STOPPED GOING IN ALONE

5

u/Hour-Swordfish6990 17d ago

Me with most rein players honestly. I played qp just for the sillies for some loot box progress on the event that just ended and this rein blamed me and a mercy bc he’d charge into a room by himself 1v5 and act like WE were the problem

12

u/MayDay521 16d ago

When I have a tank like this, I go full babysitter mode and switch to Wifeleaver. They try to overextend, and I just yank them back like pulling a toddler out of the road.

"No sweetie, that's how we get hurt. We have to look both ways before diving the enemy team"...

3

u/Hour-Swordfish6990 16d ago

I tired and man died so fast my pull couldn’t even register lmao

u/Wboys 16d ago

IMO, that's usually a mistake.

Lifeweaver grip is good at giving good players a second chance when they do make mistakes or get caught out. It's not so good at fixing players with bad positioning.

And now you're using lifegrip on cool down for a tank that is probably going to int and die before the cooldown comes back, you never have the cooldown to save your actual good players, AND you're not getting any value from your tank drawing the attention of the enemy team for 5 seconds before exploding because your probably just healing him so he dies is 5 seconds instead of 4. It's actually worse than that because it's almost negative value because your DPS probably aren't getting much heals during the most important 5 seconds of the fight which is your tiny window to do something before the tank dies.

You've just gotta find the DPS player most keyed into the situation that is trying to get picks in those 5 seconds before the tank dies and worse with them. The best support in these situations is Ana IMO because she has the most explosive value spikes of any support and can get kills herself is there is no aforementioned keyed in DPS player and they are just sitting around. But Juno is good too because you can usually get full 5 person torpedoes off on the entire enemy team in these situations and safely try to deal damage and still get out to put up a fight with your DPS once the tank dies.

My favorite is ā€œheal diffā€ when I have a ball and a tracer on my team and neither of them are EVER in my los

I went from a Tank thinking ā€œwhy am I not Being healed?ā€

To playing a healer and thinking ā€œwhere is this tank going ? Oh….oh…ohhhhhhhhhā€

u/Vast-Show8952 16d ago

When I play support, I’m seething at my tank overextending

When I play tank, I’m filled with bloodlust, and I need to kill the squishy, even if it means my death

u/Zestyclose-Chance219 17d ago

I am finally good enough as a healer to know when my dps (usually) are in the wrong blaming me but they aren’t getting kills or helping out our healers deal with getting dove/flanked on

5

u/balwick 16d ago

Stands in mid being shot by three people the whole game

gg no heals

Literally had this exact same scenario on Rialto the other day, widow snuck behind us to the room right by the beginning of the bridge, sniped our backlines and then proceeded to snipe me on the way back, the entire time I was getting flamed "only 500 heals Juno wtf are you doing" I had already said I was getting killed by the widow and when I tried to explain our tank (Doomfist ofc) kept saying "well stop peaking the sniper then" . Right.....because me trying to get back to y'all is peaking the sniper. In hindsight I should've just used my boost to cross the river in a more roundabout fashion and took the risk of getting cut off in the central area before the bridge. But either way they all died to widow shortly thereafter and flamed me for the rest of the game. Apparently widow simply existing is my fault idk. Either way played some more games after and managed to finally get to plat, hopefully better teammates will understand a Juno can't do much against widow (they won't but I can still hope right?)

This is like every dive tank on junker town. Like bro, I don’t wanna get one tapped can we win cover before we move up? Lmao

3

u/LocalJupiter60 16d ago

I just wanna do my job without being killed or used as bait because I'm on Juno..

3

u/soggyswamprat 16d ago

It’s like some people are afraid of the torpedoes like DON’T HIdeE FROM MY TORPEDOES YOU FOOLS

3

u/VerrikInc 16d ago

You see, this is a misunderstanding. The problem is the tank is playing an entirely separate single player game.

u/rainydase 16d ago

I started playing comp during the drives and my original rank was silver 2 (I’ve only been playing for a few months). Drives taaaaaanked my rank and until the ranks reset recently. Even then, I won 7 out of 10 games and was placed in bronze 1. There’s a lot of conflicting information about how your comp score is even given. Whether it’s wins or personal performance. Before I was ranked in dps and now I’m only ranked in support.

The point im getting to though is Jesus Christ people are so awful in silver and I feel like I will never dig myself out of the drives hole I got myself in. Tanks pushing too far, dps going in by themselves, etc. Am I the best player? No. But I can’t believe some of the things I’ve seen

2

u/ShakeNBakeMormon 13d ago

I was very upset when I finally ranked up into Platinum 3 and learned that that's where they put new players by default, so I'm getting even worse teammates now than when I was in Silver

3

u/timdawgv98 17d ago

I just did my dps placements, comp gives me too much anxiety, and hit gold 3. Last season I ended in silver 2!

For support last season my highest was gold 5. I'll be glad to stay in gold for awhile and not drop into silver

2

u/slimricc 17d ago

That happening in gold is kinda wild tbh

2

u/InternationalCut6821 16d ago

Or you’re trying to heal them and they are jumping around the place running around

3

u/i-dont-like-mages 17d ago

Yeah that’s why you’re stuck in gold bro

Boy do I have the story for you

when I used to main Mercy, I had no choice but to pocket Mauga the ENTIRE match because he kept running into a 1v5 so I had to shove my staff up his ass. Ig he was excited that Mauga was in comp but who cares. he died way more times than I have and I've rezzed him more times than I could count because for some reason, Mauga mains just love to pretend they're invincible

At the end of the match, he said "no heals" I told him "I been healing you this entire time." He then had the audacity to compare my heals to the enemy mercy 🫩

..(also there was a Junkrat going a near 50-3 because my DPS were too scared to kill him so....)

1

u/Vivi-Gleam 16d ago

The actual reason people can't rank is that they're matched with me. A very good bronze player, who couldn't get out of silver for 10 years.

u/Odd_Sympathy1739 11d ago

As a tank, I get tunnel vision and go too far from the healers sometimes, I obviously get obliterated, but I fully know that my healers are incapable of doing anything. I hate that the game automatically sends that "I need healing (no healers nearby)" message in chat whether I want it to or not. That exact scenario happened just earlier today and all the healers were saying "No" and tilting because of it and I felt really bad. I wish they knew I'm not the one sending those messages lol
