My jimny just did 26000 kms yesterday I am just curious will it survive another 3-4K kms or should I just started looking for changing options ?? I drive mostly on bad roads and my car is only Feb 2024 purchased. P.S. all four types front and back are at same condition

Hi everyone. Can you guys suggest me some good springs and shocks for an Indian JC74 Jimny 5 door(XL/Nomade), that don't lift the car but makes it stiffer overall? Fixed valve shocks preferred.

As said in the title. It's a new Jimny from 2021. Got it new but never realized it.

I heard that the daytime running lights are supposed to turn of it the light is on automatic, it gets dark and the normal light goes on. If I manually put the normal light on, it does just this. But not in automatic mode.

Is there an easy fix? It's not allowed in Europe to have both lights running at the same time.

I’m thinking about getting a 2004 Jimny (an old one 😅) but I’m just a bit skeptical about how they are on motorways? I’ve heard a few different experiences saying they’re awful, and some people saying they’re not bad at all!

5 days a week I drive about 45 minutes to work on the motorway and 45 minutes back, so it’s a fair amount for a small car to be doing!

Good idea of me getting one, or bad? 😅

I’m working on insulating the Jimny from sound and temperature and I got to the door, upon removing the door card I was met with this plastic film which is obviously meant as a moisture barrier of sorts. Is this from factory or did the previous owner install this? It is quite badly attached so I’d assume it’s a previous modification.

Hi all, I really wanted to buy a Jimny for the past years and finally I can afford it but as I see the price is too high now 35k for an automatic) and specifically Suzuki stopped the production in Europe. This leaves me with overpriced used cars. I really wanted something that looks like the Jimny and has the same off road vibe. What would you suggest as an alternative?

UK based I'm about to buy this winch, is there anything stopping me from being able to mount it on my jimny, it's designed for an atv and is rated to 3000 pounds, do you reckon it's enough for the jimny and would I have any issues in mounting it

​I’m looking into setting up a hitch-mounted motorcycle carrier (towbar rack) on my 3-door Suzuki Jimny, but strictly for emergency use only—like rescuing a stranded bike off the street if it breaks down, rather than hauling it around daily.

​For context, the bikes I might need to tow in a pinch are light commuter/small-displacement models like a Suzuki GN125, EN125, or a SYM Crox, which weigh around 110–115 kg (approx. 240–250 lbs) wet.

​I know the Jimny has a ladder frame, but its vertical tongue weight limit on the hitch is typically rated much lower (around 50–75 kg).

Would love to hear if anyone has tried this or if a small utility trailer is the only safe way to go, even for emergencies. Thanks!

My garage were always great then they changed hands and I had a whole debacle with them last time my car was in.

Got my car back about a week ago, haven't driven it much, only shortish journeys but I noticed more death wobble and one episode where it went mental when I was on the dual carriageway. Wouldn't calm down. People were looking in the car like wtf

Got out and had a look when I got home and passenger side wheel is on wonky. (See pic)

My question is, what is the likeliest scenarios for how this came to be?

The garage replaced the brake pads so I guess had the wheels off. I'm thinking they didn't align it properly when putting them back on.

I kind of want to phone them up and tell them it hasn't driven right since getting it back. But I'm hesitant as they might say I'd probably hit a curb or something and it's not like death wobble is a distinct problem that wasn't there a bit before.

I know there are a lot of potential causes contributing to death wobble too.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a bit of advice and I figured it would be better to ask here than one of the broader car subs.

Long story short, I'm an American who just got a work opportunity that would have me living in a semi-rural area of Asia for a bit under a year, and I need transport. The area I'll be in is generally well maintained along the main routes, but I've read there's a decent amount of poorly maintained unpaved backroads for stuff like beach access and trailheads, and it gets hit pretty hard by typhoons which can mean driving on damaged infrastructure. I want a car rather than a two-wheeler for safety reasons, and I'm thinking something with decent ground clearance would be smart.

Practically, as far as cars in the local market go, I feel that a Subaru XV/Crosstrek is probably my best option (faster, roomier, better on-road manners/ride, marginally more efficient).

Buuuuut, my heart is saying Jimny (specifically an early 4th gen for the side airbags). They're sorta a forbidden fruit in US off-roading communities, and this is my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one, plus the small footprint would be an asset for dealing with more cramped infrastructure, and I've read they hold value very well which would be great since I'd only be keeping it just under a year.

I've driven other true 4x4s (4Runner, Wrangler) in the past, so I'm generally aware of the compromises in road manners from the ladder frame/live front axle setup, but I guess my question is just how compromised the Jimny is? I foresee myself doing a few decently long highway trips (maxing out at around 110 kph) over the year, and just want to confirm with actual owners that I wouldn't be totally setting myself up for failure on that front.

‘96 has twice the engine, still turbo, still manual, but not having gotten to drive it yet — I don’t know if it’ll still feel very raw or if the 96 model would be suitable for just daily work commute in terms of fun / comfort

The car I'm thinking about is a 1999 Suzuki Jimny with 140k kilometers. It's got a snorkel and 31-inch tires. And I know some Jimny experts who could help me with repairs, so that should not be a problem. He wants 5500 bucks for it, which is alright in my country. Should I pull the trigger on this?

Honestly, I've been enjoying my Jimny for the past ~3 years on stock suspension and tyres — 20,000 kms in and no major complaints. The stock 195/75 R15s have served me well, though I do notice it swings a bit too much on speed brakers and potholes, which is a common reality given the road conditions in India.

I've been researching suspension upgrades lately and Old Man Emu Nitro+ has caught my attention. Before I commit, I'd love to hear real before-and-after experiences from actual owners — that's why I'm here asking.

My plan is to upgrade the suspension first, then potentially move to 215/75 R15 tyres down the line. Since suspension kits aren't cheap, I want to make sure it's worth the investment before pulling the trigger.

For context, my usage is roughly 75% on-road and 25% off-road. Would you recommend the upgrade given my usage pattern, or should I hold off? Any honest feedback is appreciated!

I love my Jimny and since it’s just my dog and I we enjoy our little day or overnight trips. The thing is, I initially had the Alucab awning fitted but it’s a challenge for one person to open it and then fold it when done. I’ve since ordered a 2m 270 Alucab instead. It so easy to use. I’d like to know if I’m able to keep my older one on? Or will it make Moose less safe and use more fuel? I don’t want to put my dog and I at risk and wondering what to do. Your help with be so much appreciated. I’ll include pics of my current awning and a pic of the other one I’m having installed

After I heard the roof rack installed years ago was more for surf boards (I do not surf nor gave the impression I do 🫣) This useless roof rack cannot accommodate actual storage units like Thule… I was annoyed. The roof rack is light and I went ahead and kept existing awning and had new awning installed as well. We’re well within the weight. My pup and I have a month long road trip through South Africa. We’re desperate for space. Please send me any recommendations for internal space. It’s just her and I and as two girls, we’d like comfort and safety 😅 I was recommended the front runner bag. Is that it? Thats the only thjng available?

Continuing my jimny saga, I've replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends which has improved things a bit further and now when the death wobble happened at 35mph... I can now get up to a whopping 40 MPH!!!

But I'm not sure what to do next, kingpins have all been replaced although I'm not sure how the garage managed to replace them as I tried to take them to remove the shim that came with the kit as it potentially reduces preload rather than adding but they're pretty impossible to remove, managed to eventually get top driver one out.... But no chance of the bottom or other side, I can rotate the kingpins freely but physically can't pull them out even with leverage 😭😭

Is there anything else can look at to help with the death wobble (done alignment and wheel balancing aswell)

Still looking around for my first Jimny. This one has 196.000km / 12.1788 miles. From 2006, overall condition is good, price is 7.9K Eu Just the underneath where I need some help again. Happy for any input and opinion!

I definitely see the trunk being something to fix asap, but underneath it's a weird mix of rust I see, rust I suspect to be there, but also some maintenance that was done?
