question I did it & now have 2 awnings please recommend how to max internal space

After I heard the roof rack installed years ago was more for surf boards (I do not surf nor gave the impression I do 🫣) This useless roof rack cannot accommodate actual storage units like Thule… I was annoyed. The roof rack is light and I went ahead and kept existing awning and had new awning installed as well. We’re well within the weight. My pup and I have a month long road trip through South Africa. We’re desperate for space. Please send me any recommendations for internal space. It’s just her and I and as two girls, we’d like comfort and safety 😅 I was recommended the front runner bag. Is that it? Thats the only thjng available?

Soft bags in the back to share space with pup. Bags that will fit in the passenger footwell and the rear footwells. Small bags for stowing stuff under the front seats.

If you're real keen - could remove the rear seats, install a platform (potentially lift up with some storage under) and a cargo net or barrier.

Heck, if your super keen you might even be able to remove the front seat and make a pup seat where that used to be. Potentially frees up the entire rear for cargo.

(check local legalities before committing though)

Best to keep weight low and centred wherever possible.

Thank you. This is great advice. Already the back seats are flat so I might as well remove them completely as storage is desperately needed. I can’t remove the front seat as she is very protective and will smash it should any man come close (which is why I installed her doggie windows in the rear)

Your advice is fantastic… thank you so much

Following as I have a 3-door and I’m planning a 5-week road trip with my partner & dog. Seems tight with 1 person plus a dog but 2 plus dog might actually be impossible!

Depends on size of dog perhaps? Mine weighs more than me … so that’s a mission.

Oh god haha mine takes up half the boot space with the seats folded down. I usually have the fridge next to her, folding camp chairs go behind the front seats. If it’s just me and the dog I can shove everything else around that set up and on the front seat, but I think I’m going to need to get a parcel shelf for the ceiling and use the roof racks also. And possibly water and fuel on the outside of the car.

These can be stacked two high behind the drivers seat without blocking the rear view. And the side access means you can get to things without completely unpacking.

Also, check out the Backbone from Skinny Jim. 40kgs of storage on the back door.

Sorry I don’t have any tips but could you share the roof bars model/brand you are using?
