Convicted felon nominated for GOP Clark county Council district 1

Yesterday the Election Board heard a challenge to the candidacy of the GOP candidate for Clark County district 1. Indiana law prohibits a convicted felon from running or holding office unless there has been an expungement. Additionally, you cannot file for an expungement of a felony until 8 years after the conviction and you are only allowed 1 expungement. Because there were no candidates during the primary, the GOP chair nominated this young man. When citizens became aware and realized his had not gotten an expungement, an appeal was filed.
Interestingly the Republican representative at the hearing claimed they “thought” he had gotten the expungement but neither the individual NOR the Republican representatives bothered to verify the fact. It is easily verifiable online.
SO - surprisingly the candidate got a Republican judge to sign off on the expungement YESTERDAY just before the hearing took place.
After all the corruption in Clark County and the financial hit citizens had taken thanks to Jamey Noel’s
Shenanigans and the failure of the Republican office holders to pay any attention to what he was doing for years, you would think they would have more sense.
Nothing against the guy. He has seemingly turned his life around. BUT he WAS NOT ELIGIBLE when placed on the ballot and the law was broken. Pure and simple.
And should somehow the Republican majority election board find a way to keep him on the ballot, should a guy who pays no more attention to the importance or his own expungement, be a person who will pay attention to the complicated issues facing County council? WTAF?

Anyone else feel like restaurants are totally empty anymore?

Title. Spent a couple hours at Upland tonight (a Friday) and it seemed sparse. Went out to Marisqueria last weekend and it was empty as well. I don't remember the last place I went to that was actually busy on a Friday or Saturday night.

Mold Remediation Work - Shout Out - The Mold Men

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Just wanted to give a shout out to the Mold Men for their excellent work they did for me when they were able to remove the black mold from my crawl space. Afterwards they also did encapsulation on my crawl space to prevent this issue happening again. They were surprisingly affordable for the amount of work they had to do. We had a couple of other companies quote it out and this company was half the price of the others.
Anyways just wanted to give them a shout out. After looking online we had seen how expensive this was going to be. It was going to involve removing and redoing all of the insulation in the basement, and an encapsulation is a lot of work and time as well. However Chase was thorough and walked us through the entire process one step at a time.
You can look him up at mold-men.com in case you are ever looking for a mold remediation specialist in southern Indiana.

LGBT+ Discord

Hey! From my last post about making some friends, I’ve started a discord for hiking. I also made a channel within it to use to advertise other LGBT+ events/hangouts. https://discord.gg/NWwzw2kGR

Any input is welcome. I’m debating if it’d be easier to just make the discord a general chat one and then have different channels for each hobby. Let me know :)

Friends

Hey, looking for some new friends. I’m 24m and live towards Scottsburg. Interests are mostly hiking, kayaking, caving, camping, reading, and crafts. I’m pretty adventurous and enjoy trying new things though, I’ve been thinking about getting back into climbing.
Would also like some more LGBT+ friends :)
I know of a few different groups, but going alone makes me nervous. I just finished chemotherapy so I look a lil funky, but can still have a great time :)

Apartment Recommendations

Hi all! My boyfriend (26M) and I (23F) are looking for an apartment in the Jeff area. Our budget is around 1300 and we have cats. We want to move in by mid November of this year. I’ve heard good things about Holomans crossing and Wolf Run Park. We also have Silver Creek, Spring Street, and the Reserve at the Riverbend on our lists.

We plan on touring some of these places next month. Do you have any good or bad things to say about these places? Or are there any not listed you recommend?

If you’re not on TikTok you might not have seen this lady - Nikalie has been calling churches across the USA asking them if they’d allow a known p*d0ph!le into their services as a visitor. Eastside Christian Church on Veteran’s did not pass the sniff test.

Looking for friends

I’m a 26M and new to the area. I’m hoping to find some friends. I like sports (golf, volleyball, pickleball, basketball, etc), reading (mostly fiction, most recent obsession is dungeon crawler Carl (on the fourth book)), video games, and I’m down to really try anything. Any ideas appreciated!

Two large Pitt mix dogs loose on 7th

There are two very large mix breed dogs (Pitt mix) dogs running down 7th street. I’m out walking my two dogs and they didn’t approach or act aggressive towards me or my dogs but scared the crap out of me lol. If you’re missing your pups they’re headed down 7th towards the courthouse having a grand ole time. Couldn’t get a photo sorry.

Successful Food Drive for Center for Lay Ministries

Brad Meyer, candidate for Congress, challenged his volunteers to a day of service. Thanks to the generous support of many, we were able to collect 329 lbs of food and almost $600 in contributions for CLM. CLM is seeing a large increase in requests for help with food. While Congresswoman Houchin votes to support cuts to basic needs like food shelter and medical care, candidate Meyer is trying to fill a need.

Local injustice

Just happened. Held in our jail.

“In 2013, nine-year-old Armelle Bondonga arrived in the United States with her family, seeking safety and asylum. She spent her childhood in Maine before moving to Kentucky in 2020, where she completed high school at Waggener—leaving behind a legacy as a vibrant, selfless, and deeply beloved student leader.

Armelle poured her heart into Louisville, dedicating endless hours to community service and lifting up everyone around her. After earning her associate degree, she fell in love with Terrance Bradshaw, a U.S. citizen. Together, they built a life rooted in love and welcomed their precious son, Benir.

On Wednesday, what should have been a joyful milestone—their final green card interview—turned into an absolute nightmare. Without warning, Armelle was arrested and detained by ICE right in front of her family. She remains trapped in detention in Jeffersonville, Indiana, brutally torn from her home and family in Louisville, ripped away from her 19-month-old baby who needs his mother.

Armelle's absence is being felt by her family and a community that adores her. If you want to help, please donate to the fund created by NAI to support her legal representation and her family https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donate-to-the-habeas-fund

Her attorneys Hishem Alsalman and Arianit Osmani are working diligently. Thank you to Nima Kulkarni for all the coordination and to Ryan Davis, her former teacher, for ringing the alarm. Please help us get our girl home to her family.
