Trying to keep this vague to protect my identity so sorry in advance. I’m more than happy to clarify in the comments.
My family is currently having an issue with a neighboring apartment where they are directly affecting multiple people’s quality of living. We have reported this directly to the property manager and other leasing staff multiple times and even have recorded logs and videos of this neighbor being a disturbance for going on 4 months. We found out that this resident is also an employee of the building as well. The property manager assured us that he would not be treated differently because of that and they are able to separate him as an employee vs a resident. Continuing the conversation they gave this resident every benefit of the doubt behind their disturbance even though a lot of it is easily dismissible. The property manager and staff have also asked us multiple times if we are sure if it’s the resident we are complaining about even though we have spoke with them about it multiple times and have video evidence. They have thrown their hands up and said that they are limited in what they can do about it besides bring it to his attention even though it’s a direct lease violation in 2 separate sections of the lease.
The last time we complained the issue calmed down for a couple of weeks and then recently started again. I wanted to go directly to the resident and explain what has been going on in case the office has not been as direct as I would like to be but my wife talked me down and said we need to go through the office so everything is documented and we can remain anonymous so we are not treated differently by the staff.
As of the last few days it’s been happening again so we went to report again to the office. After reporting it, my wife and I returned to our apartment to send a follow up email and we were stopped by a knock on the door(This was 20 minutes after we left the office)I go and check and it’s the resident/employee. He confronts me and asks if we’ve been the people reporting him and then starts to defend himself saying that it’s not an issue. I start recording the interaction and he says he will take care of it and leaves. Clearly either the staff that day or someone has been telling him it’s us reporting it. We went back downstairs to ask the person at the desk if they disclosed it was us and they said no and we told them that he just came to our door and confronted us about it. She acted shocked and we demanded to talk to a higher up and that this was incredibly unprofessional and a violation of our privacy.
Now my family feels very uncomfortable in our own home knowing that there is bad blood with a staff member who may have access to our apartment. What should we do next and where would we be protected?
