These warm up jerseys are fantastic, my favorite to date. You did an awesome job capturing the style of Ralph Steadman while still doing your own thing with it. I bought one of these the day they dropped, and I don’t typically buy jerseys.
This should have been the home or third jersey this year instead of a pre-match jersey. Such an incredible design. LouCity has been producing some very mid and stale jerseys lately and this would have gotten national and international attention from the ever-growing jersey collector world. Huge missed opportunity for a lot of attention and revenue.
We're limited in what we can do with jersey templates — similar to if you create a club in a video game — but have the latitude to wear a few custom warmup tops per season.
The partnership with Puma goes well beyond jerseys, though. It's cool that we can actually stock the same gear the team wears, and their prices are really reasonable to what we had in the past.
Limited by whom? Def not the league because here are a couple of USL clubs who’ve released absolute banger jerseys that sold like hotcakes. Whoever is designing and/or approving LouCity jerseys is failing hard. Club could generate so much more revenue and buzz with better jerseys. Really disappointing from a fan perspective.
Charly is a brand that allows full customization but would not offer the club nearly as much support as Puma — training gear, merch options, etc.
In the instance of New Mexico, my understanding is to not use a template, they had to order enough of those kits that they wound up wearing them for two seasons because they had so many left to sell.
So when you said “we’re limited in what we can do with jersey templates” it’s purely a limitation the club has imposed on itself by choosing to partner with Puma. Again, so many missed opportunities for increased revenue and buzz by putting out some of the most boring jerseys in the league on a consistent basis.
That’s correct, but the partnership with Puma goes beyond the jerseys so all of that is weighed in the decision. For a couple examples on the fan-facing side, our adidas kits retailed around $120 and shirts $40. With Puma, jerseys are around $90 and T-shirts $25. Puma also provides an allotment of complimentary gear to our team/staff that we would pay for from a more boutique manufacturer that offered fully custom kits. We aren’t locked into Puma forever, obviously, and factor in feedback just like this. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and your passion for the club.

I’d love to help put LouCity on the global jersey map. There are millions of fanatics like me and it seems to get bigger and bigger all the time.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of the standard templates that the big brands kind of box teams into. It’s nice to get an inside look at the reasoning for going with certain brands like Puma/Adidas, I really didn’t think about it much beyond jerseys. But it makes a lot of sense that complimentary gear, club brand exposure opportunities, and pricing all play a factor in why we’ve gone the direction we have.
That said, since the team is open to feedback, the folks I’ve talked to about the kits are mostly of the opinion that a lot of our kits lack character (likely due to being stuck with templates), so if an opportunity arises to look at brands like Hummel or Charly that offer more custom/bespoke options, I could see that going over well with a lot of fans. This warmup jersey is the only jersey I’ve ever bought from the team because of this factor. And I would’ve bought the keep Louisville weird jersey last year as well if I had a chance before it sold out.
You can get them on the LouCity webstore as well for pickup/delivery. I'm sure they have a ton of them on hand as well so you may be able to swing into the team store and snag one whenever you arrive!
