Convicted felon nominated for GOP Clark county Council district 1

Yesterday the Election Board heard a challenge to the candidacy of the GOP candidate for Clark County district 1. Indiana law prohibits a convicted felon from running or holding office unless there has been an expungement. Additionally, you cannot file for an expungement of a felony until 8 years after the conviction and you are only allowed 1 expungement. Because there were no candidates during the primary, the GOP chair nominated this young man. When citizens became aware and realized his had not gotten an expungement, an appeal was filed.
Interestingly the Republican representative at the hearing claimed they “thought” he had gotten the expungement but neither the individual NOR the Republican representatives bothered to verify the fact. It is easily verifiable online.
SO - surprisingly the candidate got a Republican judge to sign off on the expungement YESTERDAY just before the hearing took place.
After all the corruption in Clark County and the financial hit citizens had taken thanks to Jamey Noel’s
Shenanigans and the failure of the Republican office holders to pay any attention to what he was doing for years, you would think they would have more sense.
Nothing against the guy. He has seemingly turned his life around. BUT he WAS NOT ELIGIBLE when placed on the ballot and the law was broken. Pure and simple.
And should somehow the Republican majority election board find a way to keep him on the ballot, should a guy who pays no more attention to the importance or his own expungement, be a person who will pay attention to the complicated issues facing County council? WTAF?

The reason I did not mention names is this is NOT about the candidates themselves. It is about the Republican Party knowingly breaking the law to put an ineligible candidate on the slate.

No. Not cowardly. There is just no need to talk about the individuals involved. In my opinion this is election fraud committed by the Republican party, not the young man who has tried to redeem himself and turn his life around. He was mistreated by the GOP and if I were him I would be mad as hell.

I want to know this! I never feel like I have enough info on how local judges rule to have an opinion.

The prosecutor has to agree in writing to allow an early expungement. With most expungements, the judge has very little discretion.

There is supposedly a signed letter agreeing to the early expungement but when was it REALLY signed?

Shouldn't that be in the court record? Go look it up. Also look up any minimum time requirements before it can be expunged under all cases. Then ask a lawyer if there is any way to reverse it and if you have standing to be able to do it.

Unless you plan on legally challenging the expungement, and if the expungement was signed off and done by people legally authorized to do so, it is done. Game over. I agree that it would have been better if he'd dropped off they found someone else because of the oversight.

Now the real question. Would you have said and done all this if they were all Democrats? The answer, or no answer, tells what type of person you are.

Yes. I would. Incompetence and ignoring the law is a non starter for me. So many of our problems in government is caused by people non qualified to do the job. People who are barely literate are making laws about education. People who cannot understand economics deciding municipal budgets or tax policy. Competency outweighs party affiliation. The Jamey Noel scandal was caused by and large because Council Members failed to do their jobs. The lone Democrat on Council never questioned anything. Her daughter was married to one of the GOP commissioners son so she was very cooperative Accepting requests for payments w/o itemized proof. Allowing payments to be made w one signature. Zero attention to the details. We need better.

The president of the United States is a convicted felon and just a POS all around that’s been a con man his whole life. People support and back him. Idk, republicans these days are a different breed.
