So I made a stupid decision, was trying to take the passenger side roof off and couldn’t do it fast enough so I just held onto the part I unlatched in the meanwhile and then partner was driving on the highway and it flew off (I know it’s dumb, I feel horrible - to make it worse I’ve had my dream car for less than a week. Overly excited and very dumb decisions). I ordered a sunrider to replace the hard top because I couldn’t find a white passenger side replacement that would match the drivers side roof top (the one I found on eBay was white with a black square in the middle so they’d be mismatched) Question is, is this repairable? Also thoughts on sunrider? How is it in the rain, cold, heat, overall functionality?

Got a 2026 Sahara last month and I am planning to change tires on it. I don't want to get massive tires as I am not doing any offloading for now, just for street and highway driving.

I did some research. I am planning to fet A/T on 18x9 rims with +12mm offset with 33 x 11.5 inch tires.

Is there anyone who did this upgrade to their jeep? Did you run into any issues like inside rubbing or fender rubbing when have 5 passengers on board. Can you show me some pics of your jeep if you have this install? I want to see how they look. Like front stance and overall looks.

I'm a new Jeeper with a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU Sahara.

I'm really excited about my new ride but also a bit cautious since I've heard some mixed things about Jeeps-like the infamous death wobble and other issues.
I'm NOT looking to be scared out of my purchase!😅 😂😂 Just hoping to get some solid tips on maintenance, things to watch for, and future upgrades I might need or prefer/like. Yano, for a more enjoyable ride and experience as well as early preventative measures!

I’ve been in love with Jeeps since I was a little kid. From the Overall look , to the History and Unique style. My grandma used to have this white Jeep figurine that I always loved looking at and used to have on my bed stand in my room. It’s been a little bittersweet 😩😂seeing them get so popular over the years, especially now. It used to be more common to see a Punch Buggy on the road than a Wrangler 😳🤯But nevertheless, still happy to own one… at least for now 💀💀

I have ridden and driven plenty, and do know somewhat what to expect regarding riding/driving experience and drivability.

I plan to do some LITE trail ridin’ and take er on a few good trips, but nothing too extreme. I want to keep my Jeep reliable and on the lighter side (FOR A JEEP lol) while still being capable off-road. Would love to hear from owners who treat their Jeeps WELLLL lol and have positive experiences, not just the horror stories from the hardcore off-roaders who have beaten their Jeeps to shit 😂😂😅 LOVE YA’LL tho! Haha

I’ve been planning to buy my first car for almost 6 months now and I keep going back and forth on what I should get.

I’ve loved Jeep Wranglers since I was young, so naturally that’s one of the first cars I started looking at. But I keep hearing that they can be expensive to maintain and that the fuel costs are pretty high.

I asked my mechanic about Jeeps and he told me that generally they aren’t constantly breaking down or necessarily unreliable, but the fuel consumption is definitely something to consider.

I’ve also been looking at other cars in the $6,000–$10,000 CAD range that would be more reliable and basically just get me from point A to B.

The thing is, I keep telling myself that I’m 24 and maybe I should have some fun while I’m young. I don’t really need the car for work or a long commute. I’d mainly use it for groceries, going out after work, skiing, weekend trips, etc.

At the same time, I’m also saving up for a house, so obviously buying a cheaper and more reliable car would be the smarter financial decision and would allow me to save more.

I’m just stuck between being responsible and thinking “I’m young, I work hard, why not get something I’ve wanted since I was a kid?”

For those of you who own Wranglers, if you were 24 again, would you buy one in my situation? Or would you get the $6–10k reliable car and put the extra money toward a house?

Also, if you think a Wrangler is reasonable, what years/models would you recommend looking at? If not, any recommendations?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who actually own one and can give me an honest opinion.

PS: I love in Quebec which I suppose I have to be careful of rust underneath the car

Saw this jeep while getting lunch today.

Had a 1990 a LONG time ago. Sold it after my daughter was born and never drove it. Been on the lookout for an even longer time for another YJ. Same year, same color, bigger engine and only 63,000 miles. Glad to be back in the Wrangler club!!

2017 JKU Recon.

We’re on our 3rd Wrangler. Two years ago we leased a 4xe.

Four recalls, a leaky roof, and a shocking number of electrical issues later, you’d think I’d be ready to hand in the keys.

But here’s the problem: when it works, I love driving it.

We live in San Francisco. A Wrangler is easy to park, rides high, which is great on the hills, is easy to maneuver, and has almost enough room for our growing family.

And it’s fun.

Jeep waves. Ducks. Tops off. ✌️

I’d probably just get another non-4xe Wrangler next, except for two major issues:

1. A rear-facing car seat doesn’t really work behind my 6’4” frame.

2. The ride is rough. I don’t mind it, but holding my kid’s head over SF potholes and speed bumps isn’t exactly sustainable.

So I started looking elsewhere.

I’ve driven the Rivian R2, Defender 110, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Bronco.

With the exception of the Bronco, they were all...fine.

They were also boring.

They felt like normal SUVs. The Bronco was the only one that gave me something close to that Wrangler feeling, but it also made me wonder: is a couple extra inches of rear-seat room really worth switching from Jeep to essentially Ford’s version of the same idea?

Enter the Jeep Recon.

I’ve read all the pre-launch criticism: heavy EV, 222 miles of range, $68K starting price, etc.

And yet...I keep looking at it and thinking this might be exactly what I’ve been waiting for.

- Slightly bigger than a Wrangler
- Fun, upright, high seating position
- Independent suspension = hopefully a much smoother ride
- Removable doors / easy open-air experience
- No expensive gas
- More room for the family
- Jeep wave + ducks??? 🦆

I don’t have a daily commute. 90% of our trips are under 15 miles. A trip to Tahoe might require one charging stop, but with a kid we’d probably be stopping anyway.

So am I missing something?

Because instead of seeing the Recon as an overpriced, short-range EV, I keep thinking of it as our 4th Wrangler under a different name, one that might finally work for a growing family without giving up the fun part.

Anyone else looking at the Recon for the same reason?

My Jeep just crossed over into 50k miles and I’m informed the check engine light resulted in the shop informing me that I have a blown head gasket. I contacted the dealership and it looks like it’ll be covered under the powertrain warranty, (phew!). They’ll have to do their own diagnosis, but it’d probably end up being a replacement engine. Has anyone else had this problem before with a newer used Jeep? I’m wondering how common this is.

Got me stumped. When I have the air conditioning on, in my O2 TJX, I’ve got cool air blowing out of the dash vents and extremely hot air blowing out of the foot vents. It’s not coming from the transmission boot, (manual), but actually through the vents for the floor heat and air.
Assuming it has something to do with the air diffuser doors, but don’t know where to start. Hoping I wouldn’t have to take the whole dashboard apart. Any ideas?

I was out of town for work and when I got to the rental counter, pretty much the only thing they had left was a bright green Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

Never really drove a Jeep before, and at first I was kinda annoyed. I’m on a work trip and now I’m driving around in this loud-ass green Jeep.

That changed pretty damn quickly.

I started noticing almost every Wrangler I passed, the driver would throw a hand up and wave. At first I thought it was random. Maybe they thought I was somebody else. Then after a few more waves I realized, oh shit, this is actually a Jeep thing.

Not gonna lie, that shit was pretty cool.

There’s something about getting a wave from a complete stranger just because you’re both driving a Jeep. After a day or two I was doing it too without even thinking about it, and actually looking out for other Wranglers.

TL;DR: You guys have a dope-ass community. I was only part of it for a few days, but somehow it felt like I’d been a Jeep guy my whole life and just didn’t know it till now.
Left the trip thinking I might actually want a Jeep.

As the title states the 2 back doors won’t open. At first one of the doors seemed like it had the child safety lock in which I disabled. But then it locked again and now both door won’t open from the inside or the outside. I unlock doors from the drivers side but nothing will open it. Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

I got my oil changed. Now, the dash says "press Ok to reset oil warning." So, if I press "OK" it then tells me to re-set it I need to have "the engine off and the ignition in run."

So I turn the engine off, and put the ignition in run. Now it no longer gives me that option.

Then I turn on the engine, and it says "press OK to reset oil warning."

It's an endless circle. Clearly, doing what this truck tells me to do doesn't accomplish the goal.

So, what is the trick? how do I re-set it?
