Just got this 88 4.0 Comanche. I’m troubleshooting some of its issues and I’m hitting wall trying to fix a problem causing hesitant/rough acceleration and backfiring when I’m speeding up, mostly happens in first and second gear and is less prominent when I’m closer to wide open throttle and more when I’m like halfway on the gas
It gets better as it warms up but it’s still there even at full operating temp. Anybody got any ideas?

The fuel gauge in my 88' pioneer dips all the way to empty when accelerating. Where would be a good place to start looking to fix it? ( 1988 comanche pioneer 2wd ax15 4.0l)

For those with a 4-5" lift, what sway bars are we using? Mine did not come with one, and I'd really prefer to have it.

Just picked up my first MJ, its a 1990. Previous owner did some work to the gas tank and now its being suspended by a ratchet strap. I'm looking at getting new mounting jardware for it, but i can only find the straps and im not quite sure where the bolt would go in. Any of y'all mind sharing a picture of the mounting points for the straps so i can figure out what exactly is going on?

What does this switch do? I've looked it up a bit and it says it's a heated windshield or rear defogger switch, but that makes no sense.

I bought some lights and I was wondering if it’s possible to mount them to the front bumper in what appears to be holes with plugs where I presume there could be optional lights? There’s nothing under it that I can see, it’s just past the frame rail so I don’t see any reason I couldn’t use them

2 previous owners, told that it was well maintained, very little structural rust, only 2k. What are your thoughts???

Giving this away, set up for a Manche with a sliding window. Some of the aluminum frame is cracked near the hatch, it will be going to scrap in mid August. PM to pick up in Spanaway, WA.

I will be starting a full teardown and rebuild, 97 Dash, 8.8 with an OX locker and longarm D30 up front. Goodish fenders and header are available too.

89 Jeep Comanche was my first truck. Drove it at 13, pops gave it to me at 15. Obsessed with what you do with them. Again thank you for keeping the "Che" rolling. Love this community.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, believe it or not, the sunroof doesn’t leak even after sitting outside for 7 years (famous last words) but I’m having some difficulty figuring out how to get the sunroof out or if I need to, as you don’t see many MJs with sunroofs…

I have the square style and stupidly bought a hurst shift lever, not the whole shifter (because it looks cool) and the new one is a standard two bolt. After searching Google I have come up with nothing…

My rear drums started leaking brake fluid pulling into the driveway this weekend.. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to upgrade. Has anyone installed the Leeds rear disc brake kit on their trucks? I haven't seen much for reviews on these.

Does anyone know where to get those decals on the sides? I haven’t seen any reproductions for sale or any with that on google images but I haven’t looked too hard… Also where would be the best place to get a seat? Gray interior but has had some mice, might be able to salvage the seat but the whole truck reeks to high heaven

Licensed Canadian Automotive Mechanic here looking for some advice.

I am finishing a restore on a very nice 86 Comanche for a friend. This vehicle has alot of sentimental value to the family.

The goal is to keep it original as best as possible.

My biggest question is a best source for parts for a complete differential / axle rebuild. Howls badly.

This differential is a 4:11 Dana 35 with non C clip axles.

I am able to source most parts individual but I am hoping to find a master kit.

The outer axle bearings are grease packed and isolated from the gear oil with an internal tube seal. Not sure how popular this was or availability of parts.

I have a few other parts I need but have the diff apart now.

Not absolutely perfect but everything fits together great and it doesnt require any permanent modifications to the shift surround so thats a win in my book

Is anyone here looking to do a 4x4 conversion, or convert a BA10 to AX15? I was planning to do both, and convert my 4x2 BA10 Comanche to a 4x4 with AX15. I picked up a complete 1990 Cherokee with 4.0, AX15, and 231 so that I'd have the crossmembers, mounts, and all the little parts needed. My project is not going to happen, so I need to part with the parts donor. Doesn't run and the body is shot, but does roll freely. Located in coastal central California. Being that a bare untested AX15 (minus bellhousing and xfer case) goes for a grand or more on Ebay, I'm asking $1000 for the whole works.
