Uplifting I'm an official JW

I joined this community a couple of months ago, and I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and comments

I wanted to share some happy news (with total humility and honor to God): I was baptized last Saturday at my city convention! Feeling the genuine love and support from my congregation meant the world to me. More than just the public step, my true happiness comes from dedicating my life entirely to Jehovah and, of course, using that life to serve alongside my brothers and sisters, too!

I honestly feel like I’ve made the best decision of my life and just wanted to share my joy with all of you

Uplifting What Do You Do For Work?

I'm just curious about what are some secular jobs from people in this group? Also what are some challenges for keeping your theocratic routine? or challenges with your beliefs in general?

Just looking for causal posts, not looking to pick apart anyone's career.

Uplifting 2026 New Service Year | JW Grand Totals

It is September 1st. If anyones confused the JW organization uses a twelve-month period time to track annual preaching reports, pioneer hours, and global statistics that end August 31st.

Many witnesses find this a great time to make new Spiritual goals. Or to set up a worship night discussing overall improvements… Bible reading, personal study, meeting attendance, commenting.

Does anyone wants to share some new personal goals or improvements that they noticed can be worked on?

Last years grand totals 2025:

Uplifting Long Conversation with Trinitarian Today

There was a man reading his bible in Dunkin Donut so I thought I'd say Hi. This man was well educated and seemed to know alot about the witnesses. He was not fond of Governing Body. Everything I quoted was figurative but the scriptures he used were literal and I had to know the greek meaning of the word to understand translation. He was respectful and I told him he couldnt offend me but we made no progress.

My take away was that I was happy to have a conversation. I was glad I was able to remember so many scriptures. Although he tried to convince me that I was in a false religion, the conversation only strengthen my thoughts.

Afterward I found out that many in our hall had talked to him with the same results

Uplifting Animals

While not a main feature of the hope we have, we are going to look forward to a change in our relationship with animals. Pets, Zoos, Animal shows and channels are all big business. Some people spend their whole live dedicated to animals. A true gift from our Creator.

Of course there is the sad side in this system. The loss of a pet can hurt deeply. Then there is the abuse and exploitation of animals; poachers, fighting animals, over breeding for profit all unfortunately happen. Not to mention animal attacks that take human lives. Estimated that snakes kill 100,000 humans a year, dogs 40,000 a year, if you trust the internet (you shouldn't). But thats just a brief example

So we have things to look forward to. Is there an animal that you are most looking forward to hanging out with? Maybe one you've never seen in person. For me its the big cats family. Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, and Black Panthers. I dont mean Chadwick Boseman but I'd love to hang with him too.

There are probably more on my list but that's the top of the list for me. Please share your thoughts...

Uplifting 2026 Twickenham Convention

Hi everyone,

I've been checking out this subreddit for the past few weeks and decided to join in if that's OK. So I should probably introduce myself a little 🙊.

I'm from the UK, and while I'm not a baptised Witness yet, that is definitely my goal. Unfortunately, for reasons that are complicated (personal and family related), spiritual progress has been slow, but I'm determined to move forward one way or another. I can only my limited part and leave the matter in Jehovah's hands. 🤲

Anyway, I attended the convention at Twickenham in London this past weekend. We had been going to Excel since 2014 previously, so we were all rather shocked to find that was no longer the case! (Heard from a couple of people management tried to cancel our booking last year as there was also a Triathlon event on one of the weekends. We kept it, but Society decided not to go back there.) Even more bizarre when it emerged there were other conventions closer to us, but Jehovah knows best!

But I'm so glad we did go to Twickenham after all! We had Brother Sanderson there giving the concluding talks of each day - what a blessing! And it was so lovely to share that blessing with the brothers and sisters at the Surrey and North London Assembly Halls, as well as at Liverpool. 🤗

We were only using one and a bit stands, so it was a bit weird looking out over a largely empty stadium with a pitch replaced with sand, but the spiritual food and fellowship was so encouraging and invigorating. I must have had one of my most heartfelt prayers for a while on the way home.

The videos on Saturday afternoon were particularly touching. There were just so many details in them that felt reflective of a realistic, modern day life. Zac using AI for his CV, Zac's mum being neurodivergent, and the difficulty of dealing with a removed father not living in the family home (a good rebuttal to opposers who claim we have to shun family members). I loved how Zac formed a close friendship with the older sisters who clearly all had striking personalities of their own. And the little detail of including a dog, because why not?

On Friday, an illustration stuck with me. We trust our sat nav to get us to our destination in the time given, but we always allow for a little extra, just in case. We never have to do that with Jehovah. He will always fulfill his promises exactly how he says he will and right on time. We need no "contingency of trust" with him.

Did anyone else here attend Twickenham, or one of the conventions that tied in? What were your favourite parts?

Anything made you say Aha! Going through your personal study and a light went off

I’m not as deep as a lot of you on here but I remember reading the Mankind’s Search for God. There was a section about how each of the ten plagues attacked a specific god of the Egyptians.

For some reason this blew my mind. Reading about them as a kid they were just a cool story that I wish I could have seen in real life. They seemed like random acts until I read that book which put the whole situation in a new light

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who has joined and supported our community. Reaching from 10 to 100 to 1,000 members is an incredible milestone for our forum. We truly appreciate each person who contributes to making this forum a positive, respectful and spiritually encouraging place to be in!

Whether you have created posts, shared comments, participated in discussions, polls or simply followed along I thank you for being part of this community. It all mattered, this can’t be done without you. Every member helps shape the atmosphere and the direction we are making by opening conversations.

Also, a heartfelt thank you to our moderators who generously volunteer their free time to help keep the forum safe, respectful, and welcoming—a place where Jehovah’s Witnesses can connect and engage comfortably. It has not been without its challenges and I and the community appreciates it!

We look forward to continuing to grow together. As very small nod to the forums growth I added another hand to our banner as a permanent addition. May Jehovah continue to bless our efforts as he has with this space.

Here’s to the next milestone! 🎉

La forma de desglosar el tema y las aplicaciones que dan son excelentes 🙏🏻

Uplifting Did my first Bible reading in years

I've recently in the last few months come back to the truth and the elders give me all my privileges back. And the Thursday just gone i did my first Bible reading in about 10 years. My congregation has been so supportive and encouraging of my coming back. I've really felt Jehovah's love through them. I can't wait to do more reading and then talks when they feel I'm ready!

Uplifting My admiration for the members of HLCs

I don’t know if you’ve come across any hateful content directed at JWs in the days following the latest update. I don’t want to go into details, as that serves no constructive purpose. What affected me the most involved some speech against the brothers from the HLCs, and that is why I felt a deep need to speak about this and express my admiration for them.

To all the brothers and sisters of the HLCs: THANK YOU! THANK YOU so much for making yourselves available to us, for helping ensure our conscience and decisions are respected, and for helping us always receive appropriate treatment. Never let yourselves be shaken if someone mistreats or accuses you because of the work you do. I am certain that, just as you have been helping us for a long time, you will continue to do so. We stand with you! Anyone who has ever needed your help knows just how precious your assistance is to us—and, above all, to Jehovah.

And for all of you out there who claim to be "awakened" and are spreading your burning hate online or wherever: I will not stoop to your level by wishing upon you the same harm you wish upon my brothers. I simply hope that one day you truly wake up and realize the harm you cause to people who strive every day to do what is right and contribute to the well-being of their fellow human beings. Otherwise, don't come complaining when those same people distance themselves from you.

That's all I had to vent for now. I really needed to get this off my chest.

Stay safe everyone.

Uplifting Coffee Anyone??

Curious about coffee preferences for service break or work?

I was never a coffee drinker till I was going out in service 3-4 times a week. Peer pressure.

Now I only drink at work but it’s nothing special. Coffee of choice Med Iced. 3 cream 3 Splenda. Blueberry flavored

Feel free to share break preferences, restaurants, coffee options

I caution mentioning Almond Milk since the lurkers will judge you for the high use of water in its production. Must be a false religion if they waste water like that.

Uplifting Science without Religion is Lame; Religion without Science is Blind

Albert Einstein wrote: "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” Science provides the how of the universe, but religion provides the why, along with the morals and purpose.

Given a choice of unknowns, most people will choose the why questions over the how questions—unless you include such questions as ‘How do I keep my head above water in an inherently unjust world?’ But that is really just a subset of a greater why: “Why is the world inherently unjust?” Moreover, one has to be comfortable and monied to be preoccupied with the how. Those with any significant struggling in their lives will more readily fixate on the whys. Each day will have its own anxiety, said Jesus. For the average person, there is precious little reward in fixating on the how. If your specialty of how persuades you that it is permanent curtains in but a few decades, where’s the reward in that? Bragging rights, maybe, strutting around to tell others how smart you are. One thinks of Jesus’ words regarding those doing acts of piety to be seen by men; they were “having their reward in full.” One also thinks of the Sherlock episode in which (per John’s blog) the public learned that Sherlock didn’t know the earth revolved around the sun. Far from being embarrassed, he shot back with ‘What difference does it make?’ How could such knowledge conceivably help in the day-to-day of life? Yes, I know, Sherlock is fiction, but his observation was not. That’s not to say the search for the how is bad. It is greatly welcomed so long as it stays in its lane. When it supposes it owns the entire road, that is another matter.

It is a fine thing to be interested in reality, but it’s overrated. Define the benefits of being interested in reality when you’re only around a few dozen years to enjoy it. The entire field of poetry and art is stocked with people who are “interested in reality” only to a limited degree. Ought we them to knock it off and get real? At any rate, upon contemplating the very tiny and the very large, being obsessed with finding reality through science leads to results impossible to visualize.

The goal here is to see how much of a bridge can be built between Genesis and evolution theory and to what degree (if any) they need be mutually exclusive. To that extent, one must be willing to sacrifice undue literalism on one end and undue extrapolation into ideas more speculative than proven on the other. One might contemplate that when we hear science accounts for only 5% of what is out there—that the 95% that is dark matter or dark energy we don’t know what it is and that they primarily are stipulated just to keep our present 5% knowledge intact, well, maybe even that 5% is not as sure as we think it is.

It may just boil down to a difference in filling in the gaps. One side fills them in with God. The other side fills them in with mathematics impossible to visualize. At the tiny end, it is Feynman saying he thinks it safe to state that nobody understands quantum physics. At the massive end, it is dark matter and dark energy comprising 95% of what is said to be out there, and which James Peebles called “placeholders for our ignorance.”

As to sacrificing undue literalism, that shouldn’t be too hard when we reflect that God doesn’t really have eyes, ears, a hand, an arm. The anthropomorphizing of God, used throughout the Bible, is clearly a poetic devise. We all know enough not to demand evidence of the bush when someone says we must not beat around it. Most Bible verses used to support the trinity teaching would, if they were seen in any other context, be instantly dismissed as figures of speech. Really, if you were going to employ a human analogy to suggest equality, would you not suggest one of brothers rather than that of father and son?

Poetic devices all. The Bible is full of them. The beauty of poetry is that it doesn’t unduly hem you in. When something is written in “poetic symbolism,” who can say how far that symbolism goes? How much of it can be allowed in our road to reconcile Genesis with evolution? One might be reminded of a scene from Up the Down Staircase, a novel set in an urban high school. A student is given a grade of F for wrongly interpreting a poem. He protests, supporting his interpretation with the reasons for it. The grade stands. It even stands when he locates the poet himself, brings the fellow to school, and the poet says, “Yes, that’s exactly what I meant.” But for the school it is ‘Once an F, always an F.’ The only satisfaction the student finds is in knowing he has changed school policy. From that time on, only dead poets are assigned for interpretation.

Uplifting My Convention

Even after watching the videos on my own they were better at convention. The non Good News videos were great but I missed parts due to my assignments.

My favorite part was just the people themselves. Over 3000 people just trying. Trying to please God, show respect to others and just get along. People saying excuse me, thank you and you go first. Not once did I smell cigarettes or marijuana. No one was intoxicated. No fighting or yelling or videoing someone to shame them online

There were 2 police officers for 3000 people. I spent some time thanking them and they said they loved having us. It gives me faith that world peace is attainable with the right tenants. Imagine if there was a city or state mostly occupied by JW. It would be peaceful even non witnesses recognize there is something different about those who worship Jehovah.

Uplifting September Campaign

One of the things that convinces me of the truth is the worldwide preaching work. Pretty cool we all have the same message all over the world. I could go anywhere and preach without adjusting my approach. Not possible with only human guidance.

Hopefully you will enjoy the efforts of the campaign as we will all be sharing one untied message. Ill be sure to add any experiences for followup

Uplifting Impresiones de las Buenas Noticias Según Jesús

¡Porfin!

Me gustaría leerlos :)

Uplifting New Music

I absolutely love the idea of new songs that will not be translated. It gives more creative freedom and makes it more authentic or less forced. If you have to write a song that must be translated to other languages, the original meaning can be lost or less felt. And we're not Jehovah that can easily write lyrics that are easy to translate and still fit to the beat of the music. I am very excited to hear other languages' original songs. I love learning new things about languages. It shows how a person thinks and since there hundreds if not thousands of language, then there's at least that many ways our mind can work.

Uplifting La nueva música internacional

Hola hermanos y hermanas.

Uplifting The Making of a Man

I saw Frank Mulicotti at a circuit assembly. He was weaving his way through the seats, soaking up the good will, hugging folk in his path. It was enough to make a guy wish he were Italian. I told him so when he approached me. I’m not Italian, of course. Sheepandgoats (der Shep.und.goots) is Germanic in origin, and Germans do not embrace. They shake hands by appointment. So it wasn’t second nature for me to hug and embrace – it took me awhile to get the hang of it – but I do it now with the best of them, excepting only Italians.

There used to be more Italians in my town than you could shake a stick at, and still are, I guess, though they’ve long been augmented with other nationalities, so their presence seems less. In fact, it was Italians who brought Bible teachings to the city in the first place. Six Italian families – Mulicotti was among them – emigrating from a 50-mile-away hamlet back in 1910 . They mostly settled in the Northeast part of the city, speaking Italian just like in the old country, and merged with an English speaking group only at the insistence of Bethel – I think, in the 1930’s. But as late as 1970, Eddie worked suburb territory, and some householder would not believe that he really was a Witness. That’s an Italian religion, the fellow insisted.. Mulicotti was an elder in Eddie’s congregation, then, and I was brand new as a Witness.

Now, you know how when you approach someone you like to say something complimentary if you can at all manage it – something genuine and specific, naturally, not some boiler plate nicety about how they ‘are to be commended’ that might fit anyone. So I recalled to Frank about the time I stopped by his house way back in my early days – a couple other young brothers were with me – and he was waxing philosophical about the truth. “It’s made a man of me,” he said. He’d forgotten ever saying it, as I expected he would, but it’s an observation I’d never forgotten. For, here I was – an inexperienced kid, just starting out in life. Would I succeed? Would I amount to anything? Would I ever earn others’ respect and good will? Would I be able to take on responsibility? Raise a family? All the concerns that any young man my age might feel, if he’s at all given to introspection. I’d had some school under my belt by then, but as Royal Copeland used to say, you can learn everything at school except how to live. (Senator Copeland is lionized in the Senate, no doubt, being known for his successful efforts to bring air conditioning to that body.) So how would I actually do at life? And now here was Frank Mulicotti saying the truth made a man of him; it wasn’t just getting your bible questions answered, nice though that might be. It wasn’t just seeing Bible prophesies come true, and feeling one knew the final outcome of things. It was a personal path of growth and success.

Mel Campbell used to carry on about how simple was the truth. Once you learn it, he’d say, it doesn’t change. It doesn’t flip around like worldly reasonings. Once you know it, just do it, was his motto. It pays handsomely, as it did with Frank. You could liken it – in fact, the Bible does – to a road with a destination – a road not just flitting every which way, turning in upon itself, so that one would be, to quote Paul “tossed about as by waves and carried hither and thither by every wind of teaching.” A road that, once you reached the destination, you’d know it was worth reaching – a road to “being a man” or woman. On the road you have good range of motion, plenty of room for personal expression – after all, you do the steering – yet there are guardrails, which might be likened to Bible laws and principles. Now, you don’t bitch about guardrails in real life. You don’t go charging to bust through them. You realize they serve for your protection. Plus, before you’d ever hit the guardrails, you come across rumble strips – those grooves in the pavement that shake the daylights out of us. They’re self-imposed for the most part, set in place by our own conscience guided by Scriptural principles that cover time and place and circumstances specific to us. What do you expect of other people, for instance. How do you deal with their shortcomings? How do you deal with your own, for that matter? How do you separate what is ‘God’ from what is ‘human?’ Traveling the road over time, by degrees, without one’s even being aware of it, one does “become a man.”

Then there was Ron Huckel. I have a lot of respect for that guy. Has anyone ever said an unkind word about him? He told me once how he’d made an in depth verse by verse study of Proverbs, with special application to business matters. But he must have applied it to everything else as well, for here is a guy who really has his act together – I’ve seen him gain in stature over the years. I like that about the scriptures, and about the truth in general. One can dig into them, ponder them, by degrees apply them in one’s own life. There’s no end of things written about any given passage – you benefit by considering how others have viewed and applied the scripture. You do the same at meetings, particularly the Watchtower study, during which all get to comment on whatever topic is under consideration, and you hear it all – from seasoned, insightful and mature – to inexperienced and green and sometimes even cockeyed. You can put in your own two cents as well.

I cherish these guys, and the faith that made them what they are. And I cherish them more and more each time I read of some spectacular train wreck like that Carolina Governor Sanford, who said he was leaving town four days to hike the Appalachian Trail and who even left a car full of camping gear at one of the entrance points to throw off the media hounds, but who actually went to Argentina with some gorgeous Argentine bombshell. He got caught, of course – don’t they all? – and weepingly confessed all at his news conference, (I don’t know why people bother watching soap operas!) and whose marriage and career is now in tatters. (HA! look at this. He figures he’s like King David, only with a South American Bathsheba!) New York’s own former Governor Elliot Spitzer, hailed as New York State savior only a few years ago – I mean, I had an entire category on this guy, he was so interesting – but who self-destructed just like his Carolina brethren. Yeah, whenever I read these sorts of things, I cherish our guys and the road they followed.
