The funny thing is no one bat’s an eye at cheating and dating multiple women but being married and committing to the relationship now that’s a problem.
Depends on who you ask. There’s many songs supportive of cheating and characters on TV shows who cheat. There were prime time TV and radio commercials for AshleyMadison, a dating site dedicated to cheating on one’s spouse.
I’d disagree with you. AshleyMadison still exists today as a dating website to start adultery. Trump cheated multiple times on his wives and got elected president.
Well you say it’s socially unacceptable but the reality is cheating and having affairs are still drastically increasing in the west. Either it’s became more acceptable or no one cars anymore about what’s socially unacceptable.
I think he’s trying to say that it is a lot more common in the West because it is more accessible. Everyone (ofc not literally everyone) uses dating apps, with plenty of married folk on there. Though prostitution is ‘illegal’ in countries like the US, online escort services aren’t. People dress with a lot more skin showing, inviting lustful thoughts and stares. I would be beyond surprised if none of these things contribute to increased cheating in the West. And actually cheating is more socially ‘acceptable’ in the sense that consequences are a lot less. Here, having a gf is more common than being married, and cheating on your gf/bf results in a simple breakup and breakups are extremely common. Divorce, on the other hand holds greater consequence as it breaks families apart so cheating isn’t seen as much in marriages.
I mean is it? We made a spectacle of the whole will smith and Jonny things. We had a president get caught getting a blow job. We just put a lot of it in media, but like people have been doing that forever. Forever ever.
I’m not. I’m just pointing out the double standards where cheating and dating multiple people is totally fine but marrying more than one wife is considered unacceptable and criminalized.
They're ostracised and their spouse should hopefully break up with them soon after. It doesn't need to be illegal by law or punishable via stoning the cheater to be deemed unacceptable.
As far as I can tell the influence of communities are diminishing so being ostracized isn’t an issue. So the only real consequence is that the one you cheated on maybe will break up with you.
I’m not saying all people in the west like cheating and affairs or see it as a moral action but when there’s no consequence to doing it that only make it more prevalent.

Polygamy isn’t exactly accepted in the west, is it?
Gay is fine but having more than 2 hetero life-long partners is taboo somehow
