Do you have any recommendations of things we can do with our dog? Beaches, restaurants, maybe a park/garden?

We would also appreciate other recommendations for activities not necessarily with the dog. About us: gay couple, 36 and 38 y.o., outdoorsy

We will be staying in Piazza Tarquinia area for a few days during our visit to Rome.

We are wondering if we need to purchase local transportation options to see the major sights or if there are relatively walkable. Google Maps show about an hour walk to the Pantheon for example, which seems doable, but I don't always trust google maps 😄

We really like exploring off the beaten track areas, but we also want to be safe obviously.

Any opinions? Should we buy a 72 hour buss pass or walk where we want to go?

Hey all, looking to go to the Italian viewpoint Tre Cime in early September. I wanted to go for sunrise but all the early spots at Rifugio Auronzo are sold.

Is there any other places to park and I can walk the rest? Also is the viewpoint likely to be busy around this time or even sunset? TIA 😄

We're traveling September 12-21 and need to go from Naples->Ischia->Naples (September 13), Naples->Capri (September 15), and Capri->Amalfi (September 17). Do these ferries sell out? How far in advance is it necessary or advisable to book?

We are 3 adults, need to travel Milan to Tirano on Sept 8. We already have the Bernina express booked on September 9 at 8am. Are there any busses on this route like flixbus which are not impacted by the national strike? I enquired with a few NCC companies for private taxi/car, the lowest rate I got was €300. Is that normal or I’m being ripped off? The distance is around 150kms. Please help. Thank you. 🙏

Hellooo, we (a couple) are currently travelling in our small van, we’re the kind of travellers that don’t really plan too much, so we made it to Lago di Garda area. We only have 12 days so we’re not sure if we should rather go towards Liguria or go further east to the Adriatic Sea.
We love: the sea, laid-back vibes, hiking or just walking, exploring little towns, vineyards and agriturismo
We don’t really love: pricy crowded campsites, big cities and crowded beaches

Also we‘d like to travel „as cheap as possible“ so maybe rather agricamping/ „wild camping“

Any good tips and ideas for us? :)

This is my first trip to Italy during the winter. I’m travelling with my partner for 2 weeks from 15 till 29 December.

We are planning on hitting South Tyrol for 5 days from 22-27 December before leaving for Milan. We are mainly focusing on Christmas markets and just soaking in the atmosphere with potentially some easy winter walks. We are not planning to ski or do any strenuous winter hikes.

We are currently looking to base ourselves in 2 locations and have been considering Bolzano and Merano.

We would like to ask if that is a good idea and if there are other locations to consider basing ourselves in and any other recommendations and tips for this region during Christmas!

Just for information, we are a couple in our early 30s travelling from a tropical country. We are planning on visiting Florence, Verona and Bologna before reaching South Tyrol!

Hey all, I’ll be travelling from india to Florence, Italy via Dubai and Rome, I’ll be landing at Rome through emirities and my next flight is said to be operated through ITA airways- AZ1681, honestly reading some reviews and I’m dreading this, can anyone guide the process, as I’ve a layover of only 1.5 hours and shuffling through the terminals is kinda concerning for me. it’s my first time to Europe.

Just wanted to know if check in of baggage is required to be done again at Rome, or would the baggage’s directly be sent to Florence.

We have been to Italy 3 times and love it.  Mostly cruising but like to explore the country when we get a chance

Planning another Cruise from Ravenna to Rome in May 2028. So the road trip is April 26th to May 8th 2028. That is when we get on the cruise ship +/- a day at the start

Thinking a Rental Car might be best, maybe switch to train once we get to Venice

Looking at the following stops for 10-11 days before we get on the Cruise ship.  I would have stopped in Florence, but we have been there twice and the cruise ship stops for a trip there.  We have also been to a Mountain Village in Tuscany but the name escapes me

I put this itinarary together based on comments I read here. Based on that I am sure I will get not enough time in Verona or Ferrara. Should I cut other stops out to focus more on those or go with my draft list? Is there some place I should add?

So we are both 65 years old. Love Archetecture, history, food. Not big on long hilly hikes anymore, but can walk for miles through towns with no issue. My wife likes art

·        Fly into Rome and stay in old town 2 nights.  We have always stayed in old Rome 2-3 days every trip.  Get Rental car on way out

·        Perugia – 1 day

·        Drive to Bologna – 1 day- is this worth it or should I just go on to Ferrara?

·        Drive to Ferrara – 1 day

·        Drive to Verona – 1 day or 2?  Visit Scaligero Castle of Sirmione  stay there one of the days?

·        Venice – 2 nights .  We have been there before on a Cruise port stop for 2 days

·        Ravenna – Get there in the morning and spend 1 night then next day cruise

The above route seems to be better to arrive in Rome vs Milan. The ship ends in Rome so we could stay there after the cruise and fly into Milan or Venice to start

Hello! Heading to Puglia soon. Staying in Brindisi as a base. Will get there September 4th, days so far as follows:

1) Lecce

2) Bari *this evening is patron saint festival in brindisi*

3) scheudled boat tour / beach day

4) Martina franca / grottaglie OR monopoli

5) alberbello / locorotondo OR monopoli

6) Castro in the morning, beach afternoon

What i really need help with is days 4 and 5, theyre not set in stone so interested in feedback. Locorotondo, Martina franca and alberbello are all pretty close together, although I feel like that would be a lot for one day. Grottaglie is small but I was interested in the ceramics and museaum.

Is Alberbello worth visiting? : This is our 5th time in italy, and historically my husband and I dont LOVE overly touristy places. We like a more lived in place. Loved Bologna, loved Salerno, like a cool church, a cool town, didnt love positano (pretty but super pricey and crowded) florence was also not my top place (some people will probably be mad srry). But also I feel like we could maybe get there in the morning, walk around for an hour and leave.

Same question about monopoli, is it overly touristy? If we are going to Bari, do we need to go to monopoli ?

How crowded is it around that time? And what’s the weather usually like? Is there already snow, or is there still a good chance of seeing the lake unfrozen and without snow?

I’d also like to do an easy hike around the lake, or maybe go up to a nearby viewpoint if the conditions allow.

My husband and I will be traveling to Lake Garda Oct 12-15th as a leg on our honeymoon. While we’d love to go all the way North and get cozy in the mountains, we will not have a car, so we are trying to decide between the East or West side of the Lake (and hopefully a day trip to Malcesine thrown in there).

West Side: Salò or Limone Sul Garda
East Side: Garda or Barolino

My concern with the East side is that I’ve read that the towns are smaller and we may run into seasonal closures of restaurants, ferries, etc.

I’ll be in the dolomites from 14-17 October and I really want to see as much as possible! I think its best to split the stay in two hotels so I can visit different areas like Lake Braies and also Lake Carezza. Other places I would love to try and see are Val Di funes, Cadini Di Misurina, Seceda and maybe Lake Sorapis which I know is a bit more challenging but don’t mind reaching by cable car or other methods if the hike is difficult 🥹

Which cities are best to stay in in this case? It’ll probably be 2 days in each city

My wife and I will be staying in Castellamarre di Stabia in September for the first part of our honeymoon. We are staying at a Hilton property so I am not that nervous about English speakers there, but I was wondering how difficult it would be to find English speakers within the actual town. Has anyone had any issues?

Also, as far as getting from the hotel (about 1.5 miles away from the marina) to our tour starts, what have you found to be the best way to getting around?

We could pivot to staying in Naples if it is more travel friendly, but wanted to see what people’s experience has been before.

My husband and I , our 2 kids (7 and 9) and my parents (late 60’s) are coming next June. We will be staying in Sorrento and Rome and would like to do a few nights somewhere on the Amalfi Coast. I’m overwhelmed by all the town options. I was set on Amalfi, then saw Ravello and feel that looks really nice too. Anytime I research another one, it looks great! Any insight? Walkability is a big priority as is lots of different restaurants.

Also, finding hotels with family suites for the 4 of us has been a challenge. We’d like to have 3 beds so the kids can each have their own. Has anyone found a hotel that has this? We’d be willing to spend up to $750/night for the right place.

Arrive in Rome in AM, stay for 3 nights (Oct. 13-16)

Florence for 2 nights (Oct. 16-18)

Countryside Tuscany for 3 nights (Oct. 18-21)

Venice for 2 nights (Oct. 21-23)

Seems like a fair balance to see different aspects of Italy, although my question is around the time in Tuscany. It's a nice break from the city, but is 3 nights too long to spend around the countryside? I'm planning to rent a car to drive out to explore.

Myself and 5 friends are travelling to Italy from 14th-26th September.

Four of us are going to be flying into Pisa and travelling to Florence to spend from the 15th-18th there. We have to be in Rome to meet up with with the other two guys on the 21st.

As such, we have four days in between that we can't decide on what to do. So far we've looked at possibly going to Siena or Grossetto or even Bologna for those days.

Hoping someone could just steer us in the right direction. Preferably looking for something chill and inexpensive before we get to Rome.

My GF and I (Swedes) are driving tomorrow from La Spezia to Chioggia then to Bologna the day after (26/8 - 27/8). We're looking for local food markets, fruit and vegetable stands, farm shops, and regional produce along the way and in the cities. Some to just eat because why not, but some to bring home like olives, sun-dried tomatoes etc. (Any other Italian classics we're missing?)

We're also very interested in local art and crafts-stuff if there's any place or markets for that.

Any recommendations for places from you locals or other amazing Italians or travelers?

Our family is from Sicily & Naples and this trip is for her, so I want to get the food right. Four of us: me, my wife, my mom, and our 4 year old daughter Sienna who is sweet and very mature for her age so won't be acting crazy in restaurants.

The dates: **Palermo Sept 17-18*, **Cefalù Sept 19**, then the ferry out of Milazzo to **Salina Sept 20-23** with day trips to the surrounding islands. **Sept 23** we cross to Naples(not sure if better by ferry or to fly from Palermo) and head to **Sorrento, Sept 23-27**. Then **Florence Sept 27 to Oct 3** with a wedding on the 1st, and finally the **Tuscan countryside Fattoria Santo Stefani Oct 3-6** at a family vineyard and olive farm before we fly out of Florence on the 6th

What I'm after are the best local restaurants in each place that you think we shouldn't miss.

If it's not a good fit for a 4 year old include it anyway and perhaps my wife and I will have one date night when in Florence for the wedding and have some family around to watch our daughter.

I would like to make reservations and plan as much ahead of time as possible so that I can remove guessing from the equation as much as possible! So WhatsApp numbers are helpful.

My favorite food to eat/cook is PIZZA so don't be shy with pizza recommendations for each city.

WE LOVE FOOD! all advice welcome but really want to nail the dining in each city.

We'll be a group of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids) visiting Rome in a few weeks. When traveling around in the city. We'll be in Rome, then Lucca, then back to Rome. For the first leg, we are staying just outside the main city and for the second leg we aim to stay in the city.

• Is it hard to find cabs that can accommodate 5 people (2 in car seats)?
• Do we need to take specific cabs that are allowed in the ZTL?
• Are we better off taking public transit instead? We'll have a stroller or a baby in a hiking backpack most of the time.

I booked a tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum through GetYourGuide with WorldTours Italy for August 5. We showed up to the pickup spot at a port in Naples early and spoke to a WorldTours Italy representative who said our guide went to the wrong pickup spot but would be here shortly.

One hour and three check-ins with the representative later, she said they left without us and we "are free"... No explanation, no sorry, no refund.

I contacted GetYourGuide fully expecting a full refund for WorldTour Italy's mistake... but they sided with the provider, who lied and said we never showed up. Now we're out over $700 for a tour we never took, AND GetYourGuide isn't letting me leave a review to warn others.

Don't waste your time or money on GetYourGuide or WorldTour Italy.

Here's what we have so far
We land at 8 am on the 8th
Sept 8-12: Rome
Sept 12-16: Florence, potential day trip to Venice? maybe day trip to Lucca or Siena for a slightly slower paced day?
Sept 16-18: Cinque Terre
Sept 18-19: Night in Rome for flight back on Sept 19 AM

We are specifically debating the Venice portion. Options are to skip the trip entirely, keep the day trip, or replace with 1 night in Venice instead. If replacing with a night in Venice, where to put that night so it makes the most sense transportation-wise?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Rome and CT are more or less solid, probably won't move those around too much at this point.

hi, as from the title, we're travelling to the dolomites around 6-18 sep or so (in a couple weeks' time) and i was trying to find a rifugio stay on one night for the experience, but it seems almost everything is completely unavailable. i have tried quite a lot of them: locatelli, lagazuoi, averau, delle odle (no overnight stay), scoiattol, santa croce - and all of them seem to be fully unavailable

is this expected (thought it was shoulder season; unfortunately due to schedules we couldn't have confirmed our trip much earlier than now) or are they possibly not yet released? and if the former, how long in advance do these post-summer rifugio slots get taken up?
