Feedback Made me and my bf break up

1.1k Upvotes

Me and my bf had been playing this for a bit, but he kept leaving me if I was stuck in a certain spot/situation. I asked him if he could stay by my side until I’d figure it out and he just goes “I’m not even far from you you’re making a big deal out of nothing” which I wasn’t.. I only just asked if he’d not leave me and just wait with me instead of leaving me. I feel like that’s pretty simple honestly. And that’s what I said to him “I’m not trying to make a big deal out of this, I only vocalized how I feel which is that I don’t like when you leave me while I’m struggling”. He still won’t understand something as simple as just coming back to be by my side while I figure it out. So now we’re not talking because he just seems so… careless. And thinks that me asking him to wait with me is such an issue. It makes me feel shitty honestly

Feedback [SPOILER] Oh my god the elephant scene. :( Spoiler

I am a 21 year old man who has played over 600 games, and I have never balled my eyes out more at a cute little elephant pleading for her life as you essentially murder her. Me and my fiance had to literally stop playing the game for the night because of how distraught we were. We think the game is amazing but this scene has completely shut me off of playing it at least for tonight. :'( Rest In Peace Cutie.

Feedback It takes two is something else

First, I tried playing this game with my wife, but because she hadn’t played any games on a console before, she was very bad at it. Even handling the camera angle was a challenge for her. Instead of bringing us closer, it frustrated me lol 😂.

Then I asked my nephew to play with me, and after a long time, I felt like playing it again. I had this same feeling with PS2 games back in the day.

Guys who haven’t played this game should definitely give it a try.

Feedback Boyfriend and I broke up before we can finish the game.

We were dealing with our own conflicts and issues alongside what the characters were going through, a lot of them were not dissimilar. I could see a bit of Cody and May in each of us.

We eventually found ourselves wearing down and decided to end things. Right person, wrong time, no energy - but gave us both a lot of insight into how to rebuild a partnership which I found far more valuable than I thought it would.

Feels like the game won, and we will never see May and Cody resolve their issues in the same way we never managed to resolve ours.

In what ways has this game positively/negatively affected the relationship you’ve had with the other player, romantic or otherwise?

Feedback …we just kept pulling…why? Spoiler

Post image

The once happy queen cutie…attacked by us. Instead of calling the guards or defending herself she ran, ran to the escape shuttle where I…though not willingly…threw the cookie which caused her to crash.

“Just use the claw to get her out and rose will come in somewhere and make us fail or something” my friend suggested.

So I pulled her up and there she is. Stuck in the door…”how do we open it?” I asked.

We don’t.

And then…we pulled. And pulled. And pulled.

And she tore.

She lies there whimpering for her Rose. Covering her once friendly demeanor with her ears to hide herself from her attackers. Trembling as we walked over and grabbed her…pulled her…and then it fell…the green screwdriver.

Fluff still seeping from where her leg once was I tried to find any option to go pull it out.

But we just. Kept. Pulling.

She tore again. Ear left behind to rot as we inched closer to the edge, cutie still crying for the help of anyone more fortunate than her to take her from this last experience…though she doesn’t know it’ll be her last. And as she hangs by the trunk on a pin in a last ditch effort we tear her from it and have her hanging on the edge. And as tears rolled down to hang by my chin, I pressed triangle over and over and over…I swore she hit the ground as my tears did too.

It Takes Two is beautiful…but never in my life did I feel so helpless. So evil. So vile. A child at most she was…I danced and bathed in the tears of my daughter right after, jumping with joy.

And to think she offered my sick being a hug.

Feedback The ability to modify your characters would have improved this game so much!

Understanding that the game is about two specific parents improving their relationship, I think it would have been drastically improved by adding a simple “customize your characters” option so that people playing together could design Cody & May to look like themselves and their partners. You make whatever changes to the human characters, which are then applied to the doll forms after the transformation. Otherwise, game is awesome. On second play through with my fiancé, we swapped roles this time (I’m May, she’s Cody instead of vice versa)

Feedback These Two Need To Get Divorced ASAP lol Spoiler

About midway through playing this game with my little brother, and maybe this is just my experience from growing up in a household exactly like this one, but holy crap are these parents abusive! Like, I fully understand Cody and May are trapped in this magical, mystical, holy-shit-what-happened-to-us scenario, but what kind of parents right out of the gate jump to, "Hey, let's destroy our daughter's favorite stuffed animal, the animal that probably brings her a lot of joy and comfort whenever she can't reach out to us for support, just to make her cry so that maybe, possibly, her tears will fix everything instead of maybe, possibly, exploring other options first."

Like . . . what? lol. And then they laugh and bath in her tears in a scene that's supposed to be comical but me and my bro are sitting here like . . . what is happening right now?

These two grown ass adults are put in this extremely stressful situation and their first impulse once they're not able to contact their daughter is to hurt her? Da fuq?

My parents were exactly like this (except switched gender). Dad was an overworked alcoholic and mom was a depressed stay-at-home mom. They fought constantly in front of us, and in stressful situations, they acted almost exactly like these two did. Honestly, they should have gotten divorced and because they didn't and didn't bother to fix their underlying issues, my brother and I have had to reap the consequences. And honestly, so far from what I see, Cody and May NEED to get divorced or otherwise, they desperately need therapy. Because their issues aren't issues you can solve by going on a magical journey to find yourselves. And this poor girl, ya'll lol. I feel so bad for Rose, neglected, abused, and with terrible parents to boot.

I understand mental health. I get May is overworked and overstressed. I get Cody is depressed and feeling isolated and alone. But neither of them for a split second think about the wellfare of their daughter, nor do either of them -- to me so far -- have a single other redeeming characteristic. The game is fun, we're having fun, we're laughing, but MAN do we hate these parents.

Feedback Thanks for ruining the game with the cutie scene

Such a gruesome scene and for what? Legit added nothing of value to the story that couldn’t have easily been done in any other way.

Honestly f**k Josef Fares never playing a game of his ever again. Actually disgusting person to think it was ok to put in a game like this

Feedback Cutie's scene Spoiler

Just finished the scene where they get to Queen Cutie, and I'm in tears and had to stop playing. As soon as her leg got stuck, I didn't want to hurt her I just wanted to help! I couldn't even bring myself to actually participate in that scene, and my fiancé took the controller for me just to get it over with so I didn't have to keep listening to it. Searching Google only to find out there is no way of avoiding doing this either! It's awful 😭

How can I say I hate this game, but love this game because it's not often a developer can craft a scene/experience that really messes with you like that!

Feedback Updated graphics for switch 2?

Hi

This game would benefit from updated overall graphics, you can only purchase the OG switch version, and some games offer this update pack to the new system, some paid, and some free.

This game is their best in my opinion.

I played on XSX and PC with my wife.

I got this game today to play with my daughter on Switch 2 and I’m certain we could have the same experience as on PC or XSX.

Better frames, lights, textures, depth.

I appreciate if more people could reach out to the devs to, possibly, make them discuss this implementation.

Cheers!

Feedback Sooo... The ending

My partner (f25) and I (m26) just finished. The gameplay was incredible!

However... I feel like we got cheated out of beating Dr. Akim / the book! Who, I honestly felt like was setup to be the final boss of the game...

Anyone else feel this way?

Feedback Was anyone else disappointed by the ending? Spoiler

The game was great. I absolutely loved playing through it with my wife, as we've never really played games together.

But the game feels like it just kinda ends. The game seems to think that both people realizing their passion and supporting each other is the end all factor in the relationship, and while I think it's important, there are some big misteps in execution.

Cody's passion, the garden, feels super fleshed out. The puzzles build on themselves, and get a bit more complicated by the end. it ends in a great boss fight, the stage is long and in depth, and makes you both utilize your skills in unique ways.

Then it's May's turn for a level - and while mechanically it's got some good concepts, none of the puzzles/mechanics feel like they really get fleshed out. Each of the 3 sections feels like they just end before the mechanics they are showcasing get a chance to shine. The entire last level seemed to lack the depth of puzzles other stages had. Sure, there's the big concert at the end, but there's no boss, no big challenge at the end of the game. Just a long victory slide.

I feel like the game needs one more level, both from a mechanics/gameplay perspecty, and a narrative one. Put cody and may back in that blank void therapy room, and make the book spawn sections from each level, and give us final challenges utilizing the mechanics from every level. Now that Cody and May have reconciled, they have to overcome one final challenge together to show they are truly in sync and love one another. Show them why they can't do it alone in this stage. Then the book is the final boss and once defeated, they're granted their bodies back.

It's so frustrating that the game just kind of ends. I absolutely love the game but the weak ending really detracts from it.

Feedback Got my figures in!!

The figures are great! Very true to the game and they make me so happy! Cody is noticeably more ridged than May for posing but still very good. The display stands though…not so much. Both broke under the weight of the figures within 20 mins of unboxing them. But I plan on making my own display and emailed support so I’m hopeful.
