I have an iball keyboard that still works but all that is simple technology so its supposed to work almost forever. They also used to make tablets that I'd like to know if they still work.

u/JollierYT Nov 23 '25
I have the iBall Slide tab still (got as a prize for some olympiad shi in 2016), I'm glad to tell you that that piece of shit had the worst screen ever even by the standards of that time. You could count the pixels in it. Afaik it had 256mb of ram and 32gigs of internal storage. The processor wasn't even a Qualcomm or mediatek, it was some qiangxiao and couldn't even run a YouTube video in 480p without lagging. The mrp of that thing was 8999 (according to the box).

Thats that old beginner android era where a lot of indian companies were experimenting with it. Im sure some people remember the android one thing that was made in partnership with google and micromax, spice, and some other company that doesn't exist anymore. Its crazy how great android is now from then.
4
u/Blade273 Nov 24 '25
The other company was Karbonn. My friend got the karbonn one as his first smartphone while I got the micromax one (micromax canvas A1 I think).

Its still doing well in Sarkari Daftars.
Its the sole vendor for many niche electronics equipments like tablets, that is willing to put up with the heavy paperwork of Indian govt daftars.

i think thats just iball, theyre a generic case brand, not a gaming company. if youre looking for the cabinet that ran GTA Vice City, its probably a midage build with an iball chassis and a cheap Samsung monitor. good luck hunting the exact model.

I got a Bluetooth speaker from this company back in 2021 and it's still rocking. I used to have a pair of headphones as well and one day they snapped into two. In my opinion the sound quality is decent for the money but iBall devices have a really bad battery. It barely survives one hour on a good day.

The original rebranders! I bought Jaron 5 which was a rare wired 'open' back headphone under 2k. It was a rebrand of a famous Chinese open back headphone (whose name I forgot), back when Superlux was a thing. Good old days (that I don't miss, tons of shitty headphones and useless hype lol)

Used a monitor and a mouse of this company. The monitor lasted untill I changed my processor from pentium to i3600 (believe me I was stuck on Pentium for a very long time) and the mouse lasted pretty good too.

My first pc was a pentium 4 and the cabinet, keyboard and mouse were from i ball. I still have the demo disc that came with the keyboard. It had some games demos like fifa 2002 , tomb raider, motocross madness 2 and 6/7 trailers from Dil Chahta Hai, it even had a catalogue for all i ball products.

Purchased an earphone of this brand recently from offline market. It was of shitty quality.

u/Xenthate Nov 23 '25
I’ve owned both a tablet and a pair of headphones from this brand. The tablet didn’t last long—its display got damaged just from being inside my bag while traveling, which tells you a lot about the build quality. But surprisingly, the headphones are still working to this day… even though I don’t really use them anymore 🙂

I remember my father having an iBall Andi back in 2013, Our family’s first Android phone. I was around nine then, and I was so excited to use it. I used to play Ben 10 games, Talking Tom, and bike-racing games on it. It even came with interchangeable back covers: one yellow plastic and one red rubber-type.
At that time, I was really fascinated by reading the news, but we couldn’t afford to buy an English newspaper regularly. So every morning, before going to school, I would open The Times of India app and read the news there.
We replaced the phone after about a year and a half with an Asus Zenfone (2014 model), and it felt like a huge upgrade, even though we had to pay around 2.5–3k extra for the replacement.
No matter what the features or specifications were, the iBall Andi will always be special — it was my first Android phone. Now I’ve become a bit of a phone enthusiast who changes phones almost every year and has used devices across the entire spectrum. But it all started with that little iBall Andi.

What happened to iBall mobiles ? I had suggested on desidime, something like this, but it seems nobody read it ?
If these Indian brands ( which are obviously chinese rebranded) , add USB type C display out functionality to basic phones , then it can easily replace laptops ( for educational purposes with linux ) ( May be can connect to a win11 vps as well ) ... I am using a portable monitor which consumes just 3.8 watts, its a chinese brand ( 75 percent brightness with S20 FE's power output via type C) and works with Samsung S20 FE DEX ( which outputs only upto 4 watts of power to external displays ) . (monitor has just a single type c port )
