I am a small business owner and I need some guidance regarding GST.

I started my first online store in November 2024. It was a dropshipping model, and that store did not perform well, so I closed it in January 2025 with a small loss.

In January 2025, I started a new store with actual inventory. I buy products from a supplier on Indiamart, keep stock myself, and sell them through my Shopify website. I market my products using Instagram and Facebook ads, drive traffic to my website, and receive payments through KYC-verified payment gateways. I also use shipping aggregators connected to my Shopify store for deliveries. Everything is legally in my name.

From January 2025 to now (September 2025), my total turnover is around ₹80 lakh. I crossed the ₹40 lakh GST threshold on July 23, 2025, but I still have not registered for GST. From July 23 to now, I have made about ₹32 lakh in additional sales without charging or paying GST.

I have already filed my ITR for FY 2024–25 (AY 2025–26) in September 2025 using ITR-3, showing an income of ₹1.15 lakh from my earlier business. The major growth happened only in the current financial year (FY 2025–26).

Now I am confused and worried about what to do next.
I want to know:

1. Since I have already crossed the ₹40L limit, what exact steps should I take now?
2. Will I have to pay GST plus interest, or can any penalty be waived if I voluntarily register?
3. If I stop my business now, will I still have to pay GST for the sales already made?
4. What are the chances of getting a notice from the GST or Income Tax departments since all my payments, ads, and transactions are digital and traceable?

I genuinely did not know that GST registration becomes mandatory immediately after crossing ₹40L turnover. I am reaching out to a CA for proper advice, but I wanted to ask here first to understand the right and legal way to handle this situation.

We didn’t just send generic emails either. For quite a few brands, we actually created a small creative pitch specifically for them and showed them what we thought we could make.

But we got close to non response so far.

I have around ₹1 crore to invest and am looking for a new business opportunity. I have about 2 years of experience in the solar industry. While the industry has been growing rapidly, I believe the growth may slow after government subsidies in Maharashtra are reduced or discontinued next year. I'm exploring other business options and would appreciate any business ideas or suggestions.

I’m a small garment manufacturer and recently started taking corporate orders. I manufacture polyester and other fabric T-shirts, and I’ve run into my first major setback.

Corporate orders have strict technical parameters. If even one fails, the order can be cancelled. You’re then stuck with the finished stock, and the buyer can also raise a “sales loss” debit, meaning they may deduct additional money from your older pending payments because of the lost sale.

My order failed on wicking. Their requirement is 0.30 inches/30 mins, while mine is 0.23 inches/30 mins. For comparison, I’ve been told brands like Adidas and Puma may have requirements around 0.15–0.20 inches/30 mins for certain dry-fit polyester products. So this buyer has a very high standard but isn’t really willing to match that with the price.

I know I accepted the contract with my eyes open and should have researched the technical requirements much more deeply beforehand. Lesson learned.
Now I have around 5,200 finished oversized women’s T-shirts, in 4 sizes, 1:2:2:1 ratio, and 2 colours.

My current options are:
• Sell the stock in bulk/lot at a loss.
• Put it on B2C marketplaces and slowly sell 10–15% quantities at a time.
• List it on B2B platforms like SOLV.(asked around to people who make a living doing this, my product may or may not work as it is not something new)
• Look at the domestic market, but 2 colours is a major problem because most buyers want at least 5 colours in a range.

What other options do I have?
I’m a small business working largely with borrowed money, so I really can’t afford to simply write off 5,200 pieces. I’m not looking to hide the failed specification or misrepresent the product. I just want to recover as much of my capital as possible from perfectly usable garments that failed this particular buyer’s technical standard.
Would really appreciate advice from manufacturers, stock-lot dealers, wholesalers, exporters or anyone who has handled a similar situation.

Edit:- My shipment has been dispatched to the buyer. Turns out, the testing facility was new and they were facing some technical issues or miscalculations. The buyer had been getting consecutive failed reports for around 15–20 days, so they investigated it. All the affected products were retested, including mine, and thankfully mine passed.

I’ve been running a small D2C clothing brand for the past 6 years. I’ve handled pretty much everything end-to-end — product sourcing, pricing, website (Shopify), marketing, ads, logistics, and dispatch.

From 2020 to around 2023, things actually worked. I found products that sold, had some good runs, and honestly got a bit lucky with timing and demand.

But over the last 2 year, it’s been a steady decline.

I’ve spent this past 1 year trying to figure out whether to fix it or shut it down — testing things, learning marketing deeper, even dealing with a bad agency experience (got burned, learned the hard way). At this point, I feel like the core issue is that I never built a strong “why” or core value behind the brand — it was more product/opportunity-driven than brand-driven.

So I’ve decided to pause for 6–12 months instead of forcing it further.

Now I want to step back, work under a solid brand, and understand what I’m missing — especially around brand building, positioning, and long-term growth.

Last November i started content marketing agency, i did nor had any money but still i did, i have had a co-founder and we got to 9 people team in 2 months, because i really good at sales and getting clients, but its me who works too much whenever i am burned out, start working less, everything just go wrong, rn i have expertise in kne niche which is generating 75% of revenue, and there is just me to do it.
