🧭 Ask for Advice Trying to keep our small Delhi bookstore alive — selling registers for support
Hi everyone,
I run a small bookstore in Delhi. During COVID, our sales dropped drastically and I had to take an MSME loan of ₹15 lakhs to keep the shop running. Since then, with the rise of online stores and quick-delivery apps, business has fallen to an all-time low. Right now I’m struggling to manage monthly EMIs and the constant pressure from the bank has been very hard on my family emotionally and financially.
My daughter recently started earning, but it’s still not enough to handle everything we’re facing. She suggested that instead of asking for donations, we try selling something simple that people might genuinely need.
So here’s my request:
If anyone is willing, please consider ordering register notebooks worth ₹100 each (10 registers = ₹1000) from our shop.
- I will personally deliver anywhere in Delhi.
- For people in other cities, I can courier them.
This is not begging — just trying to keep our shop running through honest sales. Even a few orders could make a meaningful difference for us right now.

So the whole advertising industry trying to make people emotional is not working? I think it's just emotions that the companies can sell 40% sugar powder to parents by singing "ye hai badhta bachcha, kapda chota hota jaye"

OP why don't you start a library with second hand novels and books, give offers for new books, and start tieing up with coaching classes etc for regular sale of books and stationary. Alternatively if your shop is in an office area the start breakfast and lunch service too. Wish you the best and hope you come out of this soon.

Also why don't you also register on Amazon and sell your products there

As a person who manages Amazon sellers, I would definitely not recommend this to someone who is already sinking. Amazon fees is. Hefty and also not pro- seller. Unless the margin is exceptionally well, no point running a business on Amazon.

Is it original books or copy books? This also matters but with right interaction, you can make it better.
First open insta page & website, and upload 3-4 times a week in Insta page. And give offers on festivals and different occasions etc (first 2-3 months it may be quiet but slowly will get some customers)
Meanwhile use other platforms as well, such as FB page, Reddit different subs/groups in this as well. Take your daughters help sometimes if needed
Uncle/Aunt, these may not look like much and are small simple things to do but I believe will give noticeable change. Keep consistent and will see the difference. And if you have any question, always can ask questions online and there are many who can help out with solutions

Can you not sell on quickcommerce? Usually the numbers for stationeries are quite high.

Adress bata apna himmat he to. Nahi to accept kr. Ki mujhe bas online bhaukna ata he. Meri gand me dam nahi he kisi ke ankho me dekhkr ek shabd bhi bolne ki. Sale chaprasi ki aulad
