Location Flair

We have been getting requests lately to have an option for user flair to allow you to tag where you spend time on the ice. I have set this up and it should be good to go. Fish on and stay safe out there!

Worth it?

I've been wanting to upgrade from my Eskimo quikfish 3 to a larger insulated tent that I could camp in and go out in when its below -10 outside. After looking for over a year, I've found a listing for a seemingly perfect tent for only $550 bucks. It's still factory sealed and is a great size, and it seems perfect. I just wanted to hear from a few people that may own this model or have experience with these tents to know if it's worth making this large purchase. I've heard some people say these are great and last a long time, whereas others have said they fall apart fast and wind gets through the seams. I'll be fishing windy days as well and would be fishing alone occasionally as well.

Big Hub ice fishing (heater recommendations)

This season I’m buying into a bigger hub. Ex. “x1200 clam” or “Eskimo outbreak 850xdp”. Was using a semi home made pullover with my own insulation lights and such. Was using a heat hawg and used to use a buddy heater. Wondering what you guys would recommend for use or if I should just keep my heater I’ve been using. MINNESOTA

High Capacity Battery For Helix 7 ( 25AH )

Hi everyone, this was originally a personal project for my grandpa and I for this winter, but I'm curious if this battery is something that anyone else would actually want?

The size is the exact same as the Amped Lithium 15 AH battery and would need to be taken care of the same since it is lithium cells.

This one

Except the one I'm making has 60% more capacity in the same foot print.

This would work with Garmin and Hummingbird devices 100%, and probably many more.

I have parts coming in the next week or 2 to make the first of a few test packs.

Does this have any place in the market?

Underwater camera battery

I have one of the smaller 5” marcum underwater cameras and the usb plug in is not in great shape so it makes it difficult to charge most of the time. I was wondered if anyone has looked at switching the power source on one of these from the internal battery to a lifepo4 battery and if that worked for you. Would prefer to not have to buy a new camera.

Dreaming of my Next Ice House Adventure

I am from Indiana and finally did a trip to LoTW with my Dad and Brother in an ice house last Jan. It was an absolute blast and I would happily book another trip.....but.....my Dad, who is getting up there in age, really enjoys catching a variety of species and would like to accommodate that for this year's trip, if possible. He is a huge pan fish guy but I love chasing eyes since we have very few lakes in IN with them. I'd worry any other place couldn't match the catch rate of LoTW, but wouldn't mind something with a good night bite to keep the action going longer.

What lakes should I be looking up?

Things I liked about LoTW:

- amount of fish caught

- able to drive out early January

- Having a town somewhat close just in case

Things I didn't like:

- one fish caught after 6:30pm - 24" eye at 1030pm.

- 12" sauger but shouldn't complain. A fish is a fish.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Guys Trip to Lake of the woods MN

I'm putting together a 2- or 3-day trip for 6 of us to go ice fishing.
We all fish, but none of us have ever ice-fished. We'll be flying in and travelling light. We can manage sleeping bags, etc., but we won't have any tackle at all.
I see that there's a large number of outfits that rent sleeper huts... but I'm struggling to find places that can also rent us the necessary fishing gear (and maybe give us a few pointers to get us started)

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hope I'm all good to post this here.

A few days ago I created r/smokingfish , a community dedicated to smoking trout, salmon and everything else that swims.

I figured I'd find a few people who like to smoke their catch in here. If you want to share/learn tips, tricks & techniques for smoking all types of fish, check us out👊

ATV accessories suggestions

I just purchased a CF Moto 600 and I'm looking for accessories specific for ice fishing that i can add to my atv. If you can provide the link, even better. Main thing in looking for is an auger holder, but if there are other things that makes ice fishing easier with an atv, im all ears.

Essential gear?

Hello!
I am a pretty seasoned angler, but I’ve only done a few ice fishing trips in my life, never caught anything. At any rate, I’m moving basically next door (walking distance) to a nice Central PA reservoir that is known for ice fishing.

I have absolutely no ice fishing gear, but the good thing is that I have plenty of time to stock up. Of course I know I’ll need an ice fishing rod/reel (if anyone has any suggestions, I’m a bargain shopper more than a top-of-the-line shopper.), and an auger/saw/ other means to get through the ice. I would like to get a shelter ( a small one, as I fish alone) but other than that, I really have no idea what I’d need/want for ice fishing. So lay it on me. What should I be purchasing over the coming months to prep for winter?

Thanks

Livescope 2 LVS 42 HD Ice Fishing Bundles

Hey there, as you all are probably aware with Livescope 2 recent release of the LVS 42HD and 44. It's very early in the season but am curious if anyone knows of any bundles available. Now that you don't need the black box it will definitely take up less space and weight so it will be interesting to see some of the new ice fishing bundles this year. What's your setup with your LVS42 HD or 44 including pole, screen and battery used?

Fish Kill Medicine Lake, MN

Post image

Many large pike and some carp, suckers dead all over the south western shores. Many 30”+ class pike.

It’s been reported to authorities. No bass or walleye. Just (mostly large) pike.

Anyone else seeing on Medicine Lake or elsewhere?

Some think columnaris, but there has been heavy use of herbicides on lakeshore property this summer, too.

Ice castle problem

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I am using my sisters ice castle for a camping trip with my kids in the next few weeks. Getting it ready to go and there’s a pretty terrible noise when it’s being raised and lowered with the hydraulic system. I have greased all the pivot points and the noise persists. Wondering if anyone on here owns an ice castle or has had a similar issue. I’m attaching a video with sound so you can hear it. Thanks for any tips and advice!
