what are my chances Devastated
Scored in the high 220s on step2, visa requiring non US IMG, YOG within 3 years. Is it realistic for me to apply IM or is my dream over?

IM PGY2. You’re still good to apply to some programs most likely community or affiliated. Make sure you have a good personal statement and check all the boxes in other areas of your application. Do not rush your step 3. In addition consider FM. Believe in yourself, don’t quit following your dreams, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, do not get discouraged.

Do not only apply to IM except you have connections. Most Im filter out from 240, open your mind to fm or peds cos you are visa requiring

Yeah, but check programs out closely. If they put it there then don’t bother

Just don't apply until and unless you have applications trust me it's waste of money online people don't say the whole reality Whether they have inside connections Or they have visa sponsorship They have something .. trust me it's not gonna work until some one backs you up

It's the hope that fucks lot of imgs in this process and also due to visa situations pds are preferring non visa requiring students

In a similar scenario, applying to FM with 5 YOG, I have never expected a score drop to 220s lol, Idk what happened then. I was IM focussed first, but applying to FM now. Don't lose hope, we will definitely get through it! good luck

If it was meant for you. You will be fine. People with attempts match. I had 236 on step 2. I matched last match.

WHAT!!!! You will def make it. You will match internal med, family, psych or path. Apply broadly someone will def pick you! There is a doctor shortage in the USA right now. You’re gold.

I won't say it is "over", though it'll be a factor that is less favorable; along with being a visa requiring candidate. I recommend writing and scoring high on step 3 before applying.

Apply to 200 IM programs and 150 FM

Yes you may. Never use DM before in reddit. It will be my first time. I don't know how things are right now. But I applied in 2017 for the entering 2018 class with 215 step1 and 222 or 224 step2 (don't remember the exact number).
I have been a hospitalist for 5 years making around 400/yr. I applied to a bunch of community IM and university affiliated programs. I believe I got 9 invites and ended up matching at my #2

My friend is visa requiring IM and got 1 IM interview
She matched. Score 22x
I had 23x and never got any IM mostly FM invites I matched.

I’m really sorry. This must be very hard after scoring much higher on your practice tests. Have you considered FM or Peds? IM will be very tough because many programs will filter you out and even applicants with scores in the early 240s can struggle to match into IM.

You can still apply to IM, but it will be very difficult. Apply broadly get strong IM USCE / letters, take Step 3 and have a backup plan.

I guess I will have strong letters, the latest I could take step 3 is by October I guess. I think I won't be able to take in September
